Hey! I just joined today. I finished the 28day bootcamp a week ago and really liked/needed the accountability. I like the way this challenge is set up and my overall goal is to accomplish the 8 weeks. In doing that I would also like to meet fellow Sparkers, lose ~12 lbs, and successfully follow all the action steps required.

My goals for this challenge are
1. become more active. I know that with more basic activity the weight would start to come off.
2. get my levels even lower than they currently are
3. fit into a dress that was purchased as a gift that still has the tags on it
4. have some fun and build some great relationships
5. get below 240

The last 3 times I had blood work done, my sugar was too high. I go back April 29 for another round of blood work. My goal is to get my sugar down before this test.

I am at risk for Type 2 diabetes due to having family members with it and having gestational diabetes when I was pregnant with my daughter.

My goal is to get back on the fitness track. Nutrition tracking is the hardest part, but very successful. If I can reverse diabetes by loosing the weight and inches from my waist, then I want that.

I fall down, then I get up. I'd like to get up more often and stay up longer.

My goals would be to get fit. I'm getting older and doughy. I would love to be more fit and have some cardio endurance. I'm also trying to eat cleaner with less preservatives and prepare more fresh food! I need to get more organized so that it isn't such a struggle to get everything accomplished and get out the door. I know I've said a mouthful but, those are the areas that definitely need improvement.

My short term goal is to put myself first. I need to get better control of my blood sugar. I want to start walking everyday. I started walking at my local mall in January and did really well for awhile, but I've slacked off lately. now that the weather is better I need to get back on track. I need to lose weight too.My first goal is 10 pounds by Memorial Day. emoticon

Personal goals--get a handle on this whole thing! More concretely--loose at least 10 pounds--I need to loose about 25 to get under that magic 10 % number. That would give me a few extra pounds, but I know that 25 is not realistic in 8 weeks, so I'm shooting for 10, hoping for more. What is in my favor is the weather--it is prime cycling weather right now! 20 miles today, and it felt great. Now If only i had more jerseys that fit--they are all rather tight. So a looser jersey will be my second goal. I want my blue jersey to fit nicely, instead of like a sausage skin that rides up!

Scars tell us where we have been. They don't dictate where we are going.

My short term goal is to lose 20 pounds by May 22nd, I've lose 11 pounds so far =0) so I have 9 more to go. I want to have better control over my blood sugar, through water, food and working out. I want to build a healthier lifestyle so I can be a good example and food role model for my 10 month old son. My ultimate goal is to loose enough weight and rid myself of my diabetes.

Sorry that was long winded... I would like to lose my last 9 pounds for my short term goal, and get into a work out routine

My goals: Lose 8 pounds, strengthen and tone muscles, keeping good and stable numbers..

My fear aboout losing pounds is this... I am a 3 shot a day Diabetic and take 150 units of 70/30 insulin. I can't go on any other insulin due to not having health insurance, and thanks to Walmart I can at least afford this (barely). I have been tracking food now with Spark for a month or better, and exercising almost everyday, but the scale refuses to budge very much...My clothes are fitting looser, and my rings are fitting looser, but that darn scale shows nothing but up 2, down 2, up 2, down 2... I am eating always on the low to mid range for the day, and I am very strict about that. Also my carbs are always on the low side as well. I am disgusted!! But, I made a vow to keep it up, if nothing else to have a healthy heart, and more energy...

Also one more question.. I have looked at the exercise video for week one. And some of the exercises are impossible for someone like me, who weighs 300 pounds with no arm strenth, such a the chair dip.. What should we do if we can't physically do a particular exercise... I am excited to do this, I already ride a recumbant bike 30 miles per day, but I want to tone up as well.. Thank You!! Shannon

My goal is to get myself in the habit of being healthy. By that, I mean eating healthy, and being active. Finishing this challenge will help me build an exercise routine that I can stick with and expand on in the future and encourage me to be more accountable when eating. If I do all that, the weight will take care of itself.

My goal. For this challenge is to lose 15 lbs ( may be a little tough). I take lots of Meds for diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, so weight loss is hard especially since I'm over 50 age. Also want to track my food and exercise . Goal at least 3 days of cardiovascular weekly (30 min ea). And at least 2 days of strength added each week

Current weight 269. As of 3/30. Haven't weighed again yet

Hi! I'm a 48 year old wife and mom to 3 great kids. I'm pre-diabetic most of the time but when I take prednisone for my Addisons disease, I have to take insulin. Everyday is a roller coaster. My goal is to lose 15 pounds during this challange. Starting weight today is 174 pounds. It will be a huge amount of work for me but I've got the time to do it at the moment. So here I go.

My goal is to get hubby to do this challenge with me and to help him gain his strenth back after surgery. To get him make better choices in what he eats and if we lose some weight that's a bonus.

His morning read is always good. We have noticed that no matter what he eats his level spikes, not sure if this challenge will help that or not. think it is more of a medication problem.

My goal is to encourage all our team members who are struggling with the same aspects of this weight loss journey as a diabetic that I am encountering! I would love to lose at least 10 lbs during this 8-week period, establish healthier eating habits, drop a pants size (or two), and share ideas for accomplishing these goals. I am not much of an exercise person so that is the area that I need the most encouragement in.

My goal is to get healthier and manage my diabetes better. I have treated it as not such a big deal for 10 yrs and for the first time I can't get my morning glucose down. I do not want to have to go on insulin, so I am trying to take control of my life and hopefully lose some weight along the way.

I posted this under a new topic the realized it needed to put it here.
Since I haven't tacked my food for over a week and had an accident so can't work out at all this week I stepped back and reassed my goals, I started out trying to do under 1500 cal a day too hard to start with. I also tried to work out 50 min a day. Also too hard I wore myself out to the point I didn't do hardly anything for the rest of the day. So I am stepping back and starting over I am back to tracking, next week I will be back to exercising.
My knew goals are.
1. stay under 1800 calories a day
2. exercise at least 20 min 3 days a week
3. track everything I put in my mouth

I already started tracking all that goes in my mouth and changed my calorie intake. So by monday I will be ready to exersie. I should be totally healed from my fall. My doctor is also going t help me and monday I will go weight in. This will also make me accountable and won't cost a lot of money I can't afford with weight watchers. I am not going to try to do weight watchers and sparkpeople both, I will only do sparkpeople from now on.

no matter how hard it seems to get I feel so good when I do get to where I want to be each week.

I just learned that I am pre-diabetic, and I have a family history of diabetes. So, I am trying to reverse this before I develop type 2 diabetes.

My goals for this challenge:

Lose: 2 pounds a week.
Exercise: 4 times cardio a week for at least 30 minutes each time. 2 times strength.
Food: Track daily

Hello, I've just joined. Yesterday!

My goal is to rid myself of all foods that make me feel sluggish and depressed. All the ones that work against you when you have diabetes. Chocolate, cookies, sweets in general. I know that they by themselves are not bad, but I have a problem with control when faced with sweets.
I'm also going to record my food daily and start recording my walks and gym time.
I know it's going to be a rough road ahead, but got to do it!

Hi Everyone. I had gestational diabetes in my early 20's with both of my kids and have "fought" off type 2 diabetes for years. A few months ago, to my horror, I was diagnosed as I had let my eating habits go and have not been exercising regularly since 2008 when i had a compound fracture to my leg. I guess it caught up with me.

My goal is to rebuild consistency in my program and to start lose the weight I need to control my diabetes. I like the daily exercise that builds good habits over time and think this will help me with my nutrition program as well. Eight weeks of consistency will be a big motivator to help me get back on track. After all, motivation follows action!

I'm pre-diabetic due to PCOS, and I have another 25lbs to lose in order to reach my goal weight. I'd like to lose between 8-10 lbs during this 8 week challenge, and continue to increase my running time on the treadmill. Ultimately, my goal is to comfortably run a 5k this summer, which I haven't done in a few years (run a 5k, comfortably or painfully!). I'd also like to increase my accountability and get back into tracking my food and exercise, so checking in daily for the challenge will definitely help!
