I just did it today as I have been out of town helping my son move into a new home. I did it in 45 minutes!

I have enjoyed how I can now run at least some of the way on my route!

A few weeks ago I actually did 3.1 miles in 40 minutes!

I started training back in September for this virtual race. This was my first Walk/Run 5K, and I completed it yesterday 11/01/11 with a time of 46 minutes and 19 seconds. I ran mostly at 5 mph, sometimes 6 mph. When I walked, it was 3 to 3.5 mph. I definitely would like to do another 5K soon!

After weeks of training, my shortest time is 42:40. Will try to do this again in a few months. During my training, I experienced some shin pain which is why I think I need to strengthen my legs first.

I followed the training weeks for 10 weeks, repeating each week. Today I jogged (mostly) with some walking (never longer than 2 mins, usually around 1 min). I completed my 5K in 49 mins. Yeah me!

After many months, I finally finished my walk/run 5K in 48:30!
It has been hard, I have had to push myself but I finished with an average speed of 6.2 km/h, which is my personal record :)

36 minutes for my 5K. I used today as a training day and I'm doing a "real" 5K Saturday morning. My goal is to keep it under 36 minutes which is about 5 minutes faster than last year.

I'm only on week 4 of training because I have had trouble progressing as fast as the training program and have repeated some weeks, but I did my first virtual 5K today. 1 month ago I could walk 2 miles in 40 minutes and be winded. Today I walk/jog 3.1 miles in 47 min 44 sec. Although I am not seeing much change on the scale. The change in my endurance and fitness was very encouraging. Good luck everyone! You can do it! emoticon

This week I did the Halloween 5K walk and and beat my previous record of 15.1min/mile by 27 seconds, bringing the pace just under 15. My next goal is 14.5.

One thing about the race this week is that the first place walker says she did the 5K in 15 minutes. I can't see that it is possible for someone to walk at a pace of 4.8 min/mile. The second and third place walkers did it in 30 minutes which would be 9.67min/mile. I'm 69 years old, but even when I was 46, I'm sure I would have really had to push to even get to 12min/mile.

I think I'll just be happy that I have gone from 17 to just under 15 in 6 weeks of training.

I did the c25k running program for beginners quite a while ago and finally got the hang of it so I have been running on my treadmill 3 days a week and I usually walk/jog for 45 min and go about 3.25 miles so technically I have been doing 5k! Now I'd like to try to shorten my time. Tomorrow is my next run day so I will try to go 5mph and see if I can handle it.

-sparkfully,
Cherie

I completed my walk/jog 5K this evening on the track. I wanted to beat my time of 45 mins from last week so this time I walked the oval parts of the track and jogged the long straight parts. My time today was 40 mins and 12 seconds. I feel awesome!!!

I could not get past week three in training and then kind of fell off the training and gym work due to family obligations. But ran a month ago and time was 46 min 37.4 mknutes. I ran one today and my time was 40 minutes 30 seconds. Was planning on running one in November but maybe I should quit with the 40:30 time. :) JK Will do two in November, the one planned by the Wellness Center here and then the Trick or Trot on later in the month. Today I am very tired after the race and my feet are kind of bothering me so will look at new shoes in the next week or two. Now I have to return to Scout Camporee to return my youngest and claim my oldest so he can clean up. He has a Rocket Shoot this afternoon for his Rocket Club at school. Recognizing sponsors for last years contributions and then educating the public about what they are doing . Hopefully catch the attention of future engineering students. Anyway... got to run! emoticon

I did my own 5k near my neighborhood that I had mapped out.

Since I haven't stuck to the 5k training program due to time constraint and having my baby girl in a stroller. This past Monday, my hubby was home so i took the time to go out and try 5k - see my blog its hilarious.

In any case I ran/walked it in 50 minutes. Not bad w/o real training but the journey was EVENTFUL!

I have found several walk/run 5ks and will sign up for at least one - I think this month.

I did a 5K walk/jog last week in 44:38 and did another one today in 42:24. These are unofficial times because I did them on a gravel road on the ranch by myself - my husband laid out the course for me. I am 56 years old and about 15 pounds overweight....ouch!

It is hard to keep focused and hot (still!), but I had not jogged in a very, VERY long time, before I started training for this so I am happy with my time. I plan to continue training and see if that time can be reduced. The second time my pacing was better and I walked when needed instead of wearing myself out early.

Keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen.....Congrats to all who took the challenge!

So unfortunately I have not completed my weeks of training but tomorrow is the race. I am still doing it and will post results. After that plan on continuing my training and then doing a virtual race. Will compare the results after all is said and done. I may not have finished but I am not giving in to excuses.

I ran a 5k at the Detroit Zoo a few weeks ago. I'm 60 years old and up until a couple of months ago, I couldn't even run a mile. My goal was to run the whole 5k which I did in 33:15. I came in 4th in my age group. I hope to do better in the Detroit 5k on October 16.

I successfully completed my very first 5K yesterday at the Mountain Day Run at Berry College! I had intended to do the 2 mile, but the weather and atmosphere convinced me to try the 5K. I was doubtful that I could run the whole distance, but I did! I am beyond proud of myself to do this at age 53~
