This is my first time doing any kind of training like this so I decided to try the 1 mile beginners walk. I've been doing about a block and a half walk every other night and I'm feeling good. My goal in to do the 1 mile with no problem I might try for 2 miles.

I've had a good weekend to prepare for the 5K walk. Went to Charleston this weekend and walked for hours each day. My feet and right hip are a little sore from the uneven streets and side walks. Great time though.

Week one -
1st walk - 1.6 miles in 35 minutes walked with husband
2nd walk - 2.45 miles in 35 minutes walked alone
I enjoy walking, especially early in the morning, not many cars or people around. It is quiet and you can hear to the birds and animals. Plus, it is cooler, big difference from the summer heat later in the day.

Completed Day 1 week 1 today. Walked 30 minutes instead of 15 and walked over a mile. It was hot outside but I enjoyed it and listened to my ipod. It was nice to get out after working all day!

Kelly, If you go to the main page for this forum, in the team description is a link to the 5K Your Way plans. That's where you would track your walks for the program each week.

Finished Week 1 Day 2 yesterday! I am really enjoying the "me time" I get while walking. It's so peaceful!

Had a good week after the first day. Did 20 minutes on the treadmill for .33 miles and didn't have any energy. For the 1 mile we walked a new trail that had just opened and did 2 miles. For the 1.5 miles we walked the same trail again for 3 miles at a little slower pace.

Week 1- Day 6

Suppose to do 1.5 mile walk today. Didn't happen. I was to meet up with the junk haulers at my old house today and while I did a final walk through to make sure I had everything out I wanted, I found some boxes I needed to go through. Spent 2 1/2 hours moving boxes, sorting, reboxing and moving small pieces to the do not take corner. I was up and down the basement and 2nd floor stairs several times and by the time we finished there, I was pooped and it was raining. Walk rescheduled for tomorrow. So I'll be running one day behind. I'm calling this a cross-training day!

Week 1= Day 5

15 minutes on mini trampoline.
1 hour sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and dusting

Today while my son and his wife were visiting my son mentioned that I'm moving different. Swifter and with more ease when I asked what he meant.

Day 4

20 minutes on mini trampoline
30 minutes of walking- I went to a ball game last night and this is a rough estimate of the time spent walking to and from parking and around the concourse a couple of times.

And we won! Whoo Hooo!

I was able to go to a local RV park and swim today with my daughter. We stayed and swam the entire time we were there...a good 45 minutes worth, yay! Quite fun and very nice way to get some exercise in for the day. I hope to walk my 1 1/2 miles tomorrow! Can't wait! Have a Spark filled weekend

Week One, Day One...Walked for more then 15 minutes, swam at a local pool, mowed our front yard
Week One, Day Two.....Walked, mowed our back yard, got a good swim in.

So nice to be active again and have enjoyed the days very much! But due to much rain in our area I've not been able to get to the pool again and now with rain from the latest TS Isaac headed this way, not sure if I will be able to get laps in for a few days. Thankfully the gym is near by!

Finished my first 15 minutes. It felt so good to be out and exercising again.
When I got back inside I mapped out the routes I'll be using for each of the measured walks. Of course they're not exact (I'd have to cut through backyards to get that LOL), so I made them each a little longer to make sure I get enough walking in.

Tomorrow's a cross-training day, I'll do 30 minutes on my stationary bike.
