Not well, I decided when I finished my hospital daily blood thinner shots that started in the emergency department in my stomach that I would go back to emergency in 2 weeks after it was finished if no improvement in my lung pain. I found out in emergency today I have a clot in my right & another in my left lung since March. I also have pleurisy & partially collapsed lung since March, I found this out 2 weeks a go. Today I was given advice to see a blood specialist & a lung specialist, I managed a week a go to get the Dr. to send me to a lung specialist in 2 months, the blood specialist he will not do. I will go to other Dr's to get it done, I never give up on medical treatments needed. I have seen a clinic Dr. before that said I need to find out why this happening & need to see another Dr. I will try to get him to send me to a blood Dr. soon.
Not much sleep with 24 hour lung pain & thinking that getting up early & heading for emergency in the morning, so I get home before dark. I do not drive.

i'm having issues getting ready for bed early. i sleep pretty well although i am still having trouble getting enough hours of sleep. i am not sure why this habit has nbeen so hard for me. although on weekends i do tend to wake up with more energy.

i got away from my prepare for bed habits. on friday i was off my normal schedule. i went ot my parents to met mymom and sister for a fish fry. so i did not exercise after work and i ate a large supper at 445. i normally dont eat that early. so the rest of the night i was sleepy and letharic at least untill 945 pm then i was ready to go. i did exercise late but i figured if i had the energy it was a better idea to go for it instead of forcing myself to bed when i was so energetic.

about 6.5 hours. was not to sleepy today. was in a zone for a while getting stuff done. came home i was all of a sudden sleepy. almost fell asleep in the bathroom. did not get a workout in. when my hubby got home, we both napped. pretty deeply. i only got up becaue i had a gut ache. probably from shoveling too much food when i got home. the pick -me up snack was not helpful.

Its been going very well lately.... Some of my changes are habit now...like turning off the computer earlier in the evening...and not eating after about 8pm. I've also been fortunate enough to be able to increase my exercise lately.

If any of you deal with Restless Leg Syndrome, I wuld suggest you read some of the information on John Hopkins Medical Center about it. Then have a good discussion with your doctor about possibly trying Iron Supplementation!! You will want to get checked first that your iron level is actually on the lower side of normal, (not necessarily abnormal...) and be monitored in several months that it doesn't get too high. I can Definitely say it has helped me!! Its an amazing difference in my case....
All the best,
patti

Just a quick check back: I have been doing quite well...
...when I turn off the computer early at night...
...when I don't eat after 8pm...
...when I keep my finances in order...
...when I keep up with my son so I'm not worried...
...when I get some exercise...
...and especially since I got started on some treatment with my Doctor for Restless Leg Syndrome!!

Lots of WINS here!!... but doing all those "whens" is still becoming habit--LOL

Yes!!! I slept 8:48 hours last night and my Sleep App gave me 100% sleep quality!! It really felt like a great night's sleep too - I enjoyed some dreams, didn't toss and turn - it was GREAT!!

I went to bed around 10:30pm and slept until 7:30am. I only drank two cups of coffee yesterday - 6 oz each, first thing in the morning and no alcohol. Just wonderful!!

Overall, still much improved.
I have to be on myself to sign off the computer much earlier in the evening; read or crochet instead; not eat after 8pm (that helped my indigestion), and I do some very light stretching/exercise...(seems to help prevent my RLS/cramps from keeping me awake...)

Hello Sleep Sparkers,

I slept better last night - went to bed late and got up late, but that's okay for Sunday. According to my Jawbone Move tracker, I got about 8 hours total, and six of those were "deep." (Hurray!)

In fact, that pattern holds true in general -- after the Sleep Challenge, I'm sleeping more (about 7 hours on average), and even though I'm still not going to be "on time," on average I'm going to bed earlier more often. My desire for good sleep is helping me make little choices throughout the day, and bigger trade-offs in the evenings. One important key was to commit to guided meditations at night (especially loving-kindness meditations directed toward myself.) Weirdly, I also found that I had to commit to leave for work on time in the morning (an area where I was backsliding), in order to make good choices for bedtime and sleep at night.

I'm so grateful for the Better Sleep Challenge -- for the focus, support, and help to prioritize this life-giving, spirit-giving, mysterious process. Without the Sleep Challenge, I would have continued to allow my "Day Mind" to dominate my choices. With leadership and assistance from SparkPeople, I've made friends with my "Night Mind" (which used to be a "Nightmare Mind" a lot of the time). I'm finding peace at night like I haven't experienced for many years.

I'm still using the Sleep Team Goals on my goal board to stay focused, and I suspect I'll sign up for the 4-week Challenge again soon. (Practice makes perfect!!)

Thanks you guys!!!

xo Daff

I slept soundly all night.......... delicious! No need to get up for work today - that helps I think; knowing that there's no 'deadline' for having to be out of the door! I had a good 50mins run yesterday - which tires me physically - I helped run a bar for a wedding party from 5.30-8.30pm - I had a half-pint of porter that had climbed out of the bottle and couldn't be sold! I also ate when I got home, which was a bit late - but I still slept well. So, for me, it doesn't seem to be so much what I drink, or eat in the evening - but more to do with how tired my body is physically. Perhaps.

It sounds like you had quite the party last night emoticon I went to be 30 minutes past my usual time (10:30pm). I did not have coffee after 7:00am yesteday, I did exercise and no alcohol in the evening yet I was still tossing and turning a bit last night. I blame it on the flu shot I received yesterday. I did get 8:30 hours of sleep and an 84% sleep rating from my app. It should be a good day emoticon

Having established a good pattern over the past four weeks - I broke all my own rules last night - had coffee after dinner, stayed up until midnight! I slept really well - I was SO tired - but hit the 'snooze' button three times this morning. I didn't need to wake myself up really - as it's a day off work, but my son gave me his old iPhone, so I wanted to test out the alarm function. I called the alarm "its the weekend!" which amused me when it lit up! When I finally swung my legs off the bed, I stood up, and immediately landed back down on the bed! It was like my body said "No!" It made me laugh! I just needed to take it a bit more slowly - and take care of myself today.

So - last week, my partner had a very bad cold so slept in the guest bedroom. I found that over that week, I was feeling really good during the day - energetic, clear headed, positive - good. Then, cold is over, partner comes back to bed - and I am awakened several times throughout the night with the snoring and tossing and turning. So.......I know I will sleep better in the guest room, but not sure that will go over so well. Any suggestions??? Has anyone else been through this?? I always remember on the Flintstones that Betty and Barney had separate beds - also, my grandparents did as well, but they are not around for me to talk to anymore.

Phillip, I don't know why or how it works for me, but drinking a cup of chamolie tea at night helps me fall asleep better. I'm sure our wife's pain is worse than mine, but it helps me relax and avoid using pills to sleep... I swear the prescription pills don't help the pain, they just knock me out for a bit...I hope this helps some, let me know if you have any success..

My routine has been sloppy lately...and with a sloppy routine I'm noticing less sleep..so there is my answer...back to the basics...better routine...better sleep....as long as I don't fixate on anything and talk about it in my mind the whole night...that can be counteractive to sleep...

still getting great sleep...the breathing techs. that I have employed have been my lifesaver and of course my routine..even if I break it I can fall back on getting my sleep through sleep music and breathing techs...I have found that If I goto bed breathing right through my nose..it's easier to fall asleep than if I ignore it and fight breathing through my nose at sleep time...sounds like it's not that important but try it for a week..I'll bet you get more and better sleep if you make sure your a nose breather before you go to bed...if my nasal passages are plugged up or I feel sinus probs..I will use a saline sollution made for opening up breathing airways..I find that most chemical solutions that open up breathing airways also raise the blood pressure..and that's something that I don't want to do on purpose anyway...hope this helps someone...rico

still getting good sleep as long as I stick to my steps ...but If I shortcut one or leave stuff out..I don't get near as good sleep that night...to me the steps I have in place will have to stay for life..if I want to cont. getting good nights sleep...wow I thought there was more graduates...I keep getting better and better about getting better sleep so far..I tweek it here and there but mainly I stay with the same format that gave me good nights...sleep...I never in my wildest dreams could have done this without SP to help mold my thoughts ...and understand what I was and wasn't doing to help me get better sleep...am I a sleep magician yet?..no...I can't hit the bed and in less than five minutes be far out to sleep like my wife can and always will do...she is just hard wired that way...always had great sleep habits...every since I have known her....I never really appreciated that about her till I started having my sleeping probs...that's why it was so weird for me when she started taking sleeping pills...and then got me taking them...then she quit using them stating that they were affecting her work...they never seemed to mine...I just felt that they might effect my digestion..make it slower...well a week off of them and I don't feel much different but anytime we can not be addicted to anything that's a bonus...I know that there are other things in my life I can work on and break those addictions too....good luck to all and a good nights sleep to all....rico

Getting out of sync with my sleep habits again.
I think I am going to have to redo some of the steps to getting better sleep.
I have trouble getting to sleep at night and so end up sleeping late. Need to reset my sleep times.

My CPAP machine told me 7.7 hours, however I woke up with discomfort two or three times during the night. I woke up cold as well. Not a terrific night.
