Heroin Wings (I know, terrible name, but it's because they are addictive)

4 lbs. chicken wings
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbsp. dried parsley
1 tbsp. dried oregano
2 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 c. butter

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Cut wings.
3. Combine Parmesan cheese, parsley, oregano, paprika, salt and pepper in bowl or zip close bag.
4. Line baking pan with foil (DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP).
5. Melt butter.
6. Dip chicken in butter and then roll in cheese mixture (or shake if it's in a bag). Arrange on pan.
7. Bake for 1 hr.

**You can also make this with chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces, but you need to adjust the cooking time (closer to 20 min.)

This recipe is from the "500 Low-Carb Recipes" cookbook, which also has a lot of other family favorites!

My new favorite snack - a dill pickle spear wrapped with a slice of turkey breast (about 3 calories and not much of anything else but really has lasting power)!

I love turkey sausage caccaitore, I make it different every time but its basically 1 turkey sausage link, diced up bell peppers (any color) diced red onion, carrot matchsticks, mushrooms and Hunts Zesty sauce. I cook the sausage ( while its cooking I sauté veggies)I slice sausage and add to veggies, once the veggies are semi tender I add the sauce bring to quick boil the simmer for a few minutes, I serve it over spaghetti squash. This is for one serving, I didn't put how much of everything to use because depending on how hungry I am I might use more or less, just make sure you note everything to get accurate info to track your food. it usually comes in under 400 calories.

What a great topic.

I like pumpkin spice muffins. Just take a box of spice cake mix and add a can (15 oz. or so) of pumpkin. Mix it up and bake 10–15 min. I'll add maybe 6 dark chocolate chips to each one and they come out to about 140 calories each. They're so good! People at work ask me to bring them in every fall.

My new favorite recipe is Tilapia Tacos with Sweet Chipotle Sauce. I got it off a website called youvegotsupper.com. It called for Red cabbage, but my husband doesn't like cabbage, so we substituted Romaine Lettuce. Makes 4 servings (2 tacos) at 388 calories depending on the type of tortilla used. We use Mission Carb Balance wheat fajita torillas.

1/2 cup(s) sour cream, fat free
2 tsp chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, minced
2 tsp honey
1 lime(s)
3 cup(s) romaine shredded
1/2 cup(s) green onion(s), thinly sliced
3 tbsp olive oil, divided
4 tilapia fillet(s)
8 small tortillas
1. Chipotle Sauce: Mix the sour cream, minced chipotle peppers, honey and the juice from 1/2 lime. Season with s&p and set aside.

2. Slaw: Combine the lettuce and green onion with juice from the other 1/2 of the lime and 1/2 Tbsp of olive oil. Season with s&p.

3. Fish: Cut fish into 1 1/2 inch pieces. Brush with olive oil and season with kosher salt and pepper. Heat 2 Tbsp of olive in large pan over medium high. Add fish and cook for 2 -3 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.

4. Assemble tacos: Open up warm tortilla and add lettuce, fish pieces and chipotle sauce. Option: garnish with fresh cilantro and another squirt of lime juice if desired.

Here is my son's favorite recipe for homemade microwave popcorn. Check out the ingredients on a box of popcorn. Who knows what some of that stuff is. This way, you know exactly what you are putting in your body.

1/4 cup of popcorn kernels
1 tsp olive oil (or any other kind of oil – even peanut oil)
1/4 tsp salt (more or less per your preference)

Mix kernels, oil, and salt in bowl to get all kernels oiled.

Put mixed kernels into brown paper lunch bag. Fold twice at the top.

Microwave for 2 minutes for awesomeness.

You can add any spice to the bowl for added flavors.

This is perfect for fall. We make a pot for dinner, and I usually freeze the leftovers in individual sized containers for lunches during the week.

1 medium onion, chopped
1 garlic clove, diced or minced
1 lb ground turkey (preferably extra lean)
4 T Chili Powder
1 tsp ground cumin
½ tsp ground pepper
¼ tsp salt (optional)
14 oz chicken broth
2 - 16 oz cans black beans, 1 can drained
2 – 16 oz cans kidney beans drained
1 Large can diced tomatoes (not drained)
1 16 oz bag frozen corn kernels
1 T olive oil

Sautee the onion and garlic in olive oil in a large stock pot. Add turkey after onion & garlic are sautéed. Cook turkey all the way through. Then, add the spices and cook on medium, stirring about 5 minutes. Add the chicken broth and stir well to get the browned bits up from the pan. Add the beans, tomatoes, and frozen corn kernels. Bring to a boil. Once boiling, lower heat to medium low, cover and cook for appx. 30 minutes.

not exactly a recipe per say, but something that helps me alot, so I thought this might be a good place to say it. I make a huge pot of soup ( about 20 liters/5 gallons) and freeze if in servers of about 1-1.5 cups. that way I always have a healthy meal that can be heated and eaten very quickly. i can have one as a snack or with other items as a meal, or I can have 2 for a full meal. At the moment I have 3 kinds in the freezer, ground beef and vegg/turkey and vegg/roast beef and vegg. The soups are low fat and fairly low carb ( no potatoes or rice), and are chocked full of veggies. If enough people want I can make a detailed recipe of one complete with accurate calorie count ( I will weigh all ingredients out)...but it wouldnt be till I make soup again lol.
p.s. when i make soup, there are 3 things that always go in it, Cilantro,Kale, Celery.

White bean and tuna salad

two six ounce cans of white tuna in water
3 cups of cooked chickpeas
1 onion - chopped
6 tbsp of dijon mustard
salt and pepper to taste

Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix, serve on a bed of lettuce or you can dip your fresh cut veggies in it for lunch. I take this to work all the time. It has a lot of lean protein, good fiber and low fat.

Some whole foods stores carry black rice.. I think I may have seen it in my neighborhood.... I tried black lentils the other day, they make a more filling soup (because they are higher in fiber than green)

SPINACH RICE.... IT'S GREEK AND NOT SO GREEK

2 large green onions finely chopped
2 10 oz packages thawed frozen spinach or 1.5 lb fresh spinach washed and chopped
1/2 bell pepper finely chopped
1 cup rice - uncooked (i use white basmati for the kids and a mix of brown and wild for the adults)
2/3 cup feta
2 T olive oil
Lemon rind if desired
salt to taste
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano

We make the rice as usual and let it cool...
Sweat the onions and pepper a large shallow saucepan in the olive oil
Add spinach and salt, reduce heat and cover, cooking until the spinach is completely wilted, but still that strong green color (this is important because I am not using a lot of oil.. we need the liquer from the spinach to keep the dish on the moist side)
Add herbs and lemon zest, stir until completely combined
fold in cooked rice and feta, turn off heat and cover pan.

In my house this serves as a side dish for 6 or a main(ish) dish for 4.

Here the chocolate breakfast (taken from my blog...I have to say, due to the protein-packed yogurt and the fiber in the oats...this meal keeps me full for HOURS!)

My T.O.M - MUST HAVE CHOCOLATE breakfast

1/2 cup Fage 0% greek yogurt
1/4 cup dry oats
1 T unsweetened Hershey's Special Dark cocoa powder
2 packets of Splenda
1 T honey
(Mine came in at 211 calories)

I mixed the yogurt, cocoa powder and splenda until it was all creamy and mousse-y looking. The dark cocoa powder does give more of an off-putting gray-ish tint to the yogurt, but I can forgive that. Then I mixed in the oats (for fiber and for texture...you could leave it out if you prefer a smooth texture) and drizzled the honey over the top. Then I enjoyed...like I was licking up a luscious dessert. I have to say, it killed my chocolate monster...and I got some protein, fiber and a huge dose of satisfaction...and maybe some of those flavanoid things people are always saying are in cocoa :)

I wouldn't do that every day (I try to get loads of veggies in for breakfast usually)...but I'd say it'll make an appearance at least once a week.

EDIT - I guess this would be a good dessert too...I just usually get my chocolate cravings early in the day :)

Good topic...love the shells idea!

My favorite gotta-have-it ingredient right now is Fage 0% Greek Yogurt. I've done some really delicious things with it (including a chocolate breakfast to tame the pms monster in about 211 calories). This one is my favorite meal so far:

'Enchiladas'

1/2 chicken breast (cooked on a foreman grill with no oil)
1/4 cup black beans (I like the no salt added kind)
1/4 cup greek yogurt
1/2 oz. cheddar cheese
few dashes of hot sauce (could use salsa instead)
tortilla
(mine came in just under 350 calories, but I could have made a better tortilla choice...I just had the regular small taco flour ones in the fridge)

I'd love to hear other sparkers' favorite recipes :)

Last night for dinner I made stuffed shells that I bought from Sam's. Two shells are a serving and cost 190 calories. I baked them in plain tomato sauce (I almost never use premade pasta sauce) that I spiced with garlic powder, oregeno, pepper and red pepper flakes. (39 calories) I sprinkled just a touch of part-skim mozzarella cheese on top. (72 calories give or take) I had available calories so I had a serving of garlic bread. It was quite tasty and filling. I was surprised. I think next time I might add more veggies to the sauce.
