My list for reducing stress.

I'd like to be more grateful.

When I disagree with someone, as IAMJOYFUL2 said,I'd like to disagree without being disagreeable.

I'd like to be more thoughtful.

I'd like to think before I speak.

I need to identify my stressors so I can see for myself in black and white that there are reasons I feel stressed. Then I can see which ones can be changed by making different choices, and the ones that I can't change i can find ways to not let them be overwhelming.

The first thing I did for myself and for my mental health began to delegate my responsibilities. For example, I gave the writing of texts to a copywriter, I ordered homework on the site ca.papersowl.com/do-my-assig
nment
and thus saved time and effort.

I know I'm always going to have stress but I'm going to try and breathe my way through it.

I've also found that making a plan to address stressful things is helpful.

If I cannot change something, I cannot worry about it. If I can change something, make a plan to do it.

WEEK 1 Journal

By the end of this challenge I hope to have more time to do things that are more fun but are not really necessary. I hope that early in the evening I will be able to sit down, relax, and not keep pushing myself to do more and more .I think that I will have to look at what I really have to do each day and what can be left to do at a later day. I have learned that I am putting too much pressure on myself. I have to learn to cope better with medical issues.

I started my stress journal today and I have chosen to blog about it so others may benefit from my ugly experiences that cause me stress. Perhaps they will come and join this challenge too.

It felt good to write everything out and to also put down the things that have been done already about the stressors. After all, is said and done, I do know that when I am being productive whether it is exercising or cleaning my car out or doing something in my home, the stress goes away for a period of time. What is that all about? The stress goes away for a moment but then comes back??? I want it to leave FOREVER!!!!

Blessings!

I have been so stressed from medical issues and a few other things that it has literally made me sick and I am not sure whether I am coming or going at this point. In fact, I was thrown so far off track with everything and I should be in week 2 of the stress busting challenge but I am just starting now. WOW, do I have some writing to do!!!

Blessings!

I have started my stress journal and it seems to help with thinking about my stress triggers. I am starting my yoga today and I feel real excited about this new change.I have definitely identified that I have a high stress personality and what my many stressors are. Iam determined to overcome this.

Slow and steady wins the race, grant me the patience I need to persevere and make it through.

I started a stress journal. I am finding that it is helping to write out what is stressing me at the moment. I can then let it go. I have known about stress journals, but was never interested in writing out the problem. What a difference it has made.

Day 7 - Successful people have successful habits.

Brain overload and you feel as though you just can’t shut off the chatter in your brain. Even during moments of relative quiet—while you’re lying in bed or commuting to work—your mind runs through an endless tape loop of worries and fears, conversations, and plans. Not only does this create anxiety and stress, it can also mean that you miss out on the small and beautiful moments that present themselves in your daily life.

1. Walk it out and smell the roses.
2. Vent it out by writing.
3. Hug it out. Close bonding releases hormones that make you feel good.
4. Sync your breath with movement. Not only does it feel good, it’s the most immediate way to yoke your mind to the present moment.
5. Pursue a passion. Do something you love and you’ll find that instead of having a scattered mind, you are singularly focused.
6. Sing it out. —see if you can memorize the words to a song that makes you happy and focus on those lyrics.
7. Laugh it out. See funny videos or relive funny moments.
8. Let go of attachments and control.
9. Read inspirational quotes or stories.
10. Aromatherapy and daydream.
11. Take a virtual trip
12. Take a load off - Put your legs up the wall and reverse the blood flow in your body for 15 minutes. As your body relaxes, your mind will follow.
13. Tai Chi
14. Play a game, i.e. online quiz
15. Connect with nature, enjoy the moment.
16. Meditate on the moment.
17. Clean house.
18. Help others (blog)
19. Choose happiness.
20. Exercise to a video, hula hoop, ballet barre, belly dance, chair dancing, etc.

Day 6

1. Appreciate the current moment. Find positives about what is going on around you.

2. Increase your awareness. Mindfulness is about increasing your awareness of yourself and the world around you. You can become more aware by focusing and taking control of your attention. Take a moment to look around you and notice the objects and people that are near.

3. Observe your thoughts. Notice what thoughts come into your mind, like clouds passing through the sky, without judging, rejecting, or clinging to them. Simply let them pass through your mind.

When you have a thought, notice it, and then let it go.
One way to let go of thoughts is through visualization. Close your eyes and visualize a stream with leaves flowing down it. As you think a thought that is negative, place that thought on a leaf and watch it run down the stream until you cannot see it anymore.

Engage in mindfulness exercises. Mindfulness techniques are a great way to practice mindfulness.

One mindfulness technique is where you eat a piece of food (fruit, chocolate, etc.). Instead of just popping it into your mouth and chewing, start by observing the color and texture of the food, and then biting off a small piece. Eat that piece very slowly and notice how it tastes and feels in your mouth.
Go on a mindfulness walk. This means you go for a walk, and while you are walking you notice everything that is going on in your mind, as well as around you. You can observe your own physical body in action and what is feels like to move (in your muscles, arms, legs).

Day 5

There are many going afar to marvel at the heights of mountains, the mighty waves of the sea, the long courses of great rivers, the vastness of the ocean, the movements of the stars, yet they leave themselves unnoticed!

– Saint Augustine

Today many people who enjoy traveling are not content with visiting London or Paris; they want to travel by camel in the Sahara, or kayak in the Antarctic. But no matter how exotic, this is horizontal travel, where we stay on the surface of life. Much more fascinating is vertical travel – that is, meditation, which takes us to the Land of Love in the utmost depths of consciousness.

For a long time we may not get very far, but if we insist on traveling deep, meditation will become a daring adventure. We will pass through level after level of consciousness, just the way one travels from one country to another. There is this difference: when we pass from the United States into Mexico, we know when we have crossed the border. We must stop and speak to the guard. Then the language changes. We know we are in a new land. In meditation, it is rather different. The changes are likely to take place so gradually that we may not even be aware of it immediately. But slowly and surely we will begin to have a strong feeling of coming home to our native land.

It is all about attitude.

My mind gets preoccupied and I waste a lot of time mulling over small stuff. Small stuff are things which are not worth losing my peace of mind. I need to learn to stop wasting my time thinking over the same thoughts which accomplishes nothing. When I do things unconsciously it is because I have done them so much that they are now habits - invisible masters. I do not want to make it a right or wrong issue so I will say I have an unhealthy habit of overthinking about small things.

I will replace it with a healthy habit - I will work on catching myself and say an affirmation/mantra. I will work on this by just writing any thoughts that arise. I know I lack discipline. I rarely stick with things long enough to make them a habit. Secondly, I have brain overload. I do not pay attention to what I am doing because my mind is busy sweating the small thing.

"Brain overload - you feel as though you just can’t shut off the chatter in your brain. One solution is to once again meditate and create a routine that will bring me inner peace. Through meditation and daily writings I always know what to do. By not being in the present I miss seeing all the beauty around me.

Sprinkle love and kindness like confetti.

Your body hears everything your mind says. Stay positive

I am smarter because I have learned from my mistakes.
I am happy because that is my natural state. What if there was nothing to feel bad about.

write on adapter, importance of eating what I want so no deprevation, adapter, to lose weight one has to figure out what they are willing to do,

Nuts, seeds, soy products, cereal, eggs and dairy are all good meatless protein choices. These groups of food each contain different amino acids (the building blocks of proteins) and different levels of protein quality. There is no need to consume certain foods in special combinations as nutritionists once thought! When your diet includes a variety of each of these types of foods, you can rest assured that you're consuming all the amino acids you need for muscle growth and cell repair.

I do many things mindlessly and drinking water is one of them. I am aware for now that my problem about drinking water is two fold. First, is my lack of discipline. I rarely stick with things long enough to make them a habit. Secondly, I have brain overload. I do not pay attention to what I am doing because my mind is busy sweating the small thing.

By trying to control people, I get frusterated.

Quieting the mind. Meditate

walk, pursue a passion, write, love, breathe
inner peace

Close your eyes for a minute or so and just listen to whatever sounds are going on around you. Be “a rock with ears,” hearing sounds the way a video camera would, without any preference for one sound over another or story about what the sounds mean or where they come from.
If you become aware of any internal chatter, just do your best to refocus on the sounds outside your head instead...
How was that? Does the world seem a bit different than it did a few moments ago? Do you feel more peaceful or relaxed?

One of the things that most people are striving for in one way or another is a quiet mind. Books, audios, and courses abound promising to teach techniques for achieving inner peace, reduced stress, less worry, and peace of mind. Yet, curiously, many of these programs seem to add to the number of shoulds, ought tos, musts, and have tos that fill our already-noisy brains.
The distinction I have found most useful in relation to all of these ideas came from the theosopher Syd Banks, who pointed out that there is a profound difference between the act of “meditating” and the state of “meditation.”

Meditating is an activity that at its best guides people into a state of meditation — the inner stillness I am referring to as “a quiet mind.” However, if you’ve ever struggled to maintain a meditation practice (or as I’ve done, made yourself laugh at the irony of getting mad at the people who are “disturbing your meditation”), you probably know that it’s all too easy to get caught up in the activity at the cost of the state.

Chances are that some of the most profound experiences of stillness, inner quiet, and peace of mind you have experienced in your life occurred far away from the meditation pillow. Walking in nature, sipping a cappuccino, looking out over the ocean, and communing with a cat have all been known to induce a quiet mind, yet the simple secret behind all these activities is this:
The nature of your mind is quiet; the nature of your being is well.

So the fastest way to a quiet mind is not a particular practice, whether spiritual or secular; it is simply to realize the nature of mind itself.
If the nature of your mind is quiet, then there’s nothing you need to do in order to “quiet” it. Just let it be, and it will return to quiet all by itself. That’s different from trying to “stop thinking” or even “watching your thoughts.” It’s simply allowing enough space in your life (and in your head) for the “thought dust” to settle, and then resting in the peace that naturally arises into that space.
Can meditation, exercise, walks in nature, long showers, and communing with cats help? Sometimes. But if you notice that you’re spending more time trying to do self-care than time feeling cared for in yourself, why not just take a few moments out right now to enjoy the experience of being alive?
Worst case, you’ll feel a little bit better and enjoy yourself a little bit more; best case, you’ll drop straight into the natural quiet of your mind and drink deeply from the well of your being.

I will be positive. I am noting things as I do them so I will remember.

“We can cultivate our well-being by concretely applying mindfulness to our daily living” - Thich Nhat Hanh

What exactly does it mean to live mindfully? According to Webster’s Dictionary, mindful is defined as: “1. Bearing in Mind: aware 2. Inclined to be aware.”

I define being mindful as staying present and being in the here and now. This means being fully aware and awake to everything you do and all that surrounds you. This takes much practice of patience, generosity, joyful effort, discipline and wisdom. One does not have to sit like a Buddha and meditate to practice living mindfully.

How does one cultivate a mindful living practice? Here are just a few ways that I practice mindfulness.

1. Eat Nourishing Food

Nourishing food is the kind of food that makes your tummy hum. When you eat nourishing food, you feel satisfied, not full. Nourishing food is delicious and makes you feel good. If you eat something and it causes your belly to ache, it is not nourishing. If you eat something and it makes you feel like you’ve had too much, it is not nourishing. Find food you enjoy, and make your belly sing.

2. Get a Lot of Rest

Sleep is nectar from the gods. When we get a good night’s sleep, we awaken feeling excited, energized and eager to start our day. If we don’t have enough energy to make it through the day, we can be left feeling unfocused, unmotivated, annoyed or just plain old blah. If we feel like this, how can we live in the present moment?

3. Be Patient

As someone who is highly sensitive and a perfectionist, practicing patience can be quite difficult. In order for us to live mindfully, we need to slow down and really focus on the here and now. Living in NYC, I find everyone is always in a rush. A rush to get where they are going. A rush to get things done quickly. A rush to be at the top of their game. If we race through life never stopping to appreciate all that surrounds us, we are not being fully present. When we are not fully present, we are not fully living.

4. Make Changes Slowly

If you want to make lifestyle changes that will last, you need to do them slowly. It takes about 28 days of doing something consistently to make it stick. If you want to change something in your life, do it slowly. For example, if one of your goals is to practice more yoga, start out by practicing yoga once a week for 28 days. Then increase it to twice a week for 28 days. Once you are consistently practicing yoga twice a week, increase to three times a week. Soon you’ll discover that yoga is now a ritualistic part of your week.

5. Connect to Your Spirit

The more we connect to our spirit, the more grounded we become. According to my guru, our higher self rides on the breath. This means that in order to connect to my spirit, I need to practice breathing. One way I do this is through meditation. When I meditate, I feel a sense of peace and joy. I feel a connection to my spirit, and I am able to focus on the here and now.

6. Question Everything

“A teacher can not give the truth. The truth is already in you. A teacher can only offer you the chance to awaken your true self.” - Thich Nhat Hanh

When we live mindfully, we should question everything. You should even be questioning these words as I write them. The only way to find the truth is to seek it inside you. All the answers are within you.

7. Learn to Let Go

“Wisdom comes with what you let go of, not what you hold onto.” - unknown

If we start to sweat the small stuff, we create anxiety. When we hold on to anxiety, we can never truly learn to live within the moment. Allow yourself to be angry, sad, depressed or lonely. Then allow yourself to let it go. When we hold on to our past too much, we can never truly experience the here and now.

Life is meant to be lived; start living it now!
