type out some positive quotes, affirmations, and statements on little slips of paper. put these in a bowl. when you feel stress coming on, or if you just need a pickup, reach in a grab one. take time to reflect on it while you breathe. good luck!

I have been doing very good with my stress reducing goals! I have been counting to 3 with my son and he is starting to realize I am going to do this every time and when I get to 3 there is going to be a consequence. Now I don't get all upset and stressed out over his behavior which is what I was doing before! emoticon

I hope to go back to the gym again tomorrow. I was very tired when I finished my workout but I felt so much better after having done it.

I have to remember to breathe.... If I sit back & take a few slow, deep breaths it helps me refocus on the task at hand.

Response to stress at work:
- use your break to fit in a short walk outside
- stop and say hello to a co-worker that always has something friendly as positive to say
- Stay away from negative conversations in the workplace and people that zap your energy
- if you don't particularly enjoy your current job then focus on the skills you're working on; take inventory on what you're missing and work on getting additional training or take on a project that will get you what you need; cross-train and learn more about different positions
- keep plenty of water and fruit at your desk to snack on so you get your daily intake and won't feel guilty snacking
- focus and think about the exercise or planned event you've got going on outside of the job that you're looking forward to... keep those on a calendar you see everyday so it's on your mind all the time

I vow never to take the elevator to my apartment again unless I have too many packages to walk up the stairs with to the third floor.

Excellent tips. I withdraw inside for a minute or two and talk to myself.

try a yo yo. or a walk. go to the bathroom ( the one farthest away). If you have stairs - run them. Take a 1 minute meditation vacation. do deep breathing exercises. Run in place.

I agree about the exercises. I did some this morning but to some music I heard on the radio.

here's another idea. There are some very easy exercises in the SP fitness link that can be done at your desk - including seated leg extensions, or standing nearby - calf raises. And, you get SparkPoints for them! A stress ball might be something else to keep close at hand on your desk.

I am the same way. I'm not sure if you have access to the internet - I know some places limit that - but whenever I feel really stressed or get overwhelmed I hop on and just surf the net. It gives me a few minutes of doing something else besides work. Also if it gets really bad I head outside and call my mom or a friend - usually I feel better just by venting...Hope it helps!

I am a stress eater, and I don't particularly enjoy my job. I want to learn how to de-stress myself without food.

Any good ideas on what to do at my desk instead of eating to de-stress?
