I slept 8 hours which is great for me and I feel so much better this morning, hopefully it's a new trend for me.

Woke up at 5am. That was 7 hours of sleep. Getting much better. I think taking the Advil at night helps the arthritis.

I slept very well except I had to get up twice to go to the bathroom. I was late getting in my water allowance for the day.

I went to bed at 9;30pm and woke up at 12;30am. Seems that I cannot sleep more than 3 hours straight most of the time. Fell back asleep and re-awoke at 4;30. Dozed back off and got up at 5;30. Still up.

I went to bed too early last night. Woke up at 3:30 am and then tossed and turned for a good hour. Fell back asleep until 5:30. Went to bathroom and back to bed until 6:30. Got up then to walk the dogs and stayed up.

I went to sleep fine last night and even sleep through the night, however had difficulties getting out of bed this morning. I might have just over done it this weekend. I spent all weekend with my husband winterizing our pond and camper. Lots of weeding, bending, pulling, lifting. I will see how I do tonight.

Started out fine but then DH came to bed - lights on, radio on, noise, ugh. Then his alarm went off at 6 and he kept turning the thing off and didn't get up until 7. Ugh. SO I have a bit of a headache today and will see tonight how long I actually slept when I download the gofitwear/bodybugg info. The little machine doesn't lie.

Not very well last night. Went to bed early than usual, but back ache made it hard to get comfy. After I did fall asleep, hubby had bad night of sinus drip which made him cough all night. Needless to say, I am up this morning feeling totally unrested, tired and my aching back is still aching. Don't know what the problem is. It has been bothering me since last Wednesday but not as bad as it is now. emoticon

Hey! Whatever works. If a glass of wine before bed does the trick -- great! I assume you don't drive the car in your sleep....
I am having better quality sleep, just not enough of it. Still averaging 5 hours, and that means there are quite a few very short nights. Got up just once last night, but later got up again to stay up two hours before I wanted to do that!
I must try to crawl in bed an hour earlier.......

I had a glass of wine before bed and went to bed feeling tired and fell right to sleep.

I actually slept well last night. I went to bed at 11:30 pm and slept through the night until 6:30 am. I was a little concerned that I may not sleep well as I am dealing with a lot of stress and while I was watching TV on the couch I was getting cramps in my legs. When that happens I usually do not get a good night sleep. I guess I was lucky last night. emoticon

My tale of woe is much like many of the others today. Only four hours sleep. Got up only twice, but the second time couldn't go back to sleep, so just got up. Was cheerful and had reasonable energy this morning, but I know from unhappy experience that I'll be exhausted and played-out long before the afternoon is over. I'm learning to tolerate this better.... Is that improvement? Maybe so.

Not too badly ... I went to bed at 2:20, got up at 6:30 to use the "potty", went back to bed, opened my eyes at 9:30 and dozed off again. I got up to stay up at 10. I think that gives me about 7 hours and 15 minutes. Not bad, but I'm aiming for over 8 hours.

Well It's just after 4 am here and I've been up since 2:30 am. I fell asleep at about 10 pm so I got just about four hours sleep last night. Oh great I'm learning that my mood is impacted by my sleep pattern. I was in a down the rabbit hatch mood yesterday, feeling all depressed too.

I've been pretty consistent on sleeping for 8-9 hours a night. My issue is when I go to sleep. I am working on going to bed about the same time. I'd say I am about 75% compliant right now. It's hard because I am a night owl.

Finally, a decent night. 7+ hours, and only got up once. I'm going to try for another one of those tonight! I did get off the computer earlier, exercised during the earlier evening, Showered, and read before turning out the light. During the day I worked with plants too, which I find relaxing, and had no pressing appointments, etc. Low stress.

Seven hours of good sleep. Still staying up too late, though. Lights off at 12:30, after reading. The reading helps me go to sleep almost instantly. I've discovered one way to stop the mind from going over the next day's responsibilities: "looking" at the whirling lights/shapes on my eyelids, or whatever my eyes see with closed eyes. If I concentrate on those whirling shapes, it drives out worry/planning/anxiety and I go to sleep seemingly instantly.

slept great, with no added help from pills etc, just the music and night shades on.

Kowleen, I don't know but I'd keep trying the music, use the same ones. At one time we did that and the music became my signal to fall asleep. Took a bit but it did happen. Need to get another CD player and use it again. Using NPR currently as my radio will shut off. On the CD player just let it run all night on a loop, but very low.

Not well at all...I'm really struggling with falling asleep. My targeted bed time is 11pm so last night I started getting ready for bed at 10pm. I closed the laptop, put on some relaxing music, washed my face, brushed my teeth and then sat on the couch and did some breathing exercises and light meditation to relax. When I got of the couch to crawl into bed, I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open. At 12:15, I was still awake, so I got up and took a sleeping pill. I don't normally take one that late at night, but I'm just so fed up with lying in bed awake for hours.

I've tried sleepy-time tea, that just makes me have to pee more through the night. I've tried falling asleep to music, but then I wake up more through the night because I think it's my alarm going off (my alarm is set to the radio because the beeping is too jarring and then I'm just cranky throughout the day). I have tried just letting a cd play once, but I'm not usually asleep by the end of it...so then I lie there awake, wishing there was more music. I should probably created a Bedtime Playlist on my iPod...and have it run for about 3 hours or so...I SHOULD be asleep before that plays out. *lol*

Any suggestions?

awful that's how I slept. What a bummer. Did my little ritual of slow stretches, easy music, night shades - along with a sleeping pill, valerian and melatonin.

Then I was awake nearly all night. Was so tired today and so disgusted.

Did not exercise to speak of today as really don't feel like it but have kept moving. Hoping for a better night tonight.

Slept fair again last night. Tossed and turned all night except when I was getting up going to the bathroom. Made for a miserable night.

I got over 7 hours of sleep last night! Tonight will not be as much due to an evening commitment. The good thing about this challenge is that I'm THINKING about going to bed sooner and I'm going to bed sooner more often than before.

almost 9 hours last night - however I woke up with a raging headache this AM....looking back - I didn't drink enough water yesterday. So I am going to fix that today - and have already had 4 glasses this AM.

8.25 great hours of sleep. still don't feel totally rested, but may be I need more than one night in a row. also, reducing caffeine may be a reason.

I've been sleeping better.. some days I will wake at 4am but now it is more like 5am or 5:30am...My goal this week is not to drink my water before I go to bed because I always wake up to use the bathroom... another goal is to only have a small snack at night.. and have it at least 3hrs before bed... I also want to continue with my exercise and see if it helps more.. Im thinking of doing some light exercise at night... nothing hard just something to tire me out some.. Im not sure if that will work but I will give it a try..smiles..

Don't know if it was the 35 minute walk followed by 35 minutes yoga in the early evening, or what... but I slept very well last night. 8 hours. One wake up at 5, had a zone bar and zonked right out until 7:30.

I think this was my last evening of week 2, so I'm checking off the week 2 box and moving on.

I will continue posting in the week 3 section.

The last 3 nights I have been sleeping really well. I figured out I had to limit my fluid intake starting about 6pm, otherwise I am making 2 or 3 bathroom runs an night. Really wrecking a potentially goodnight's sleep. I also have been working out more. I know I said I didn't think it made a difference, but it does. I also make sure I have a regular bedtime and routine. Bed by 11 and quiet activities before that. Most of my quiet activities are writing down everything I need to do the next day and journaling about today. So, by the time I go to bed I have emptied all that garbage that keeps me awake onto paper. So, all in all I am doing really well. Oh and I continue to keep a sleep journal. So if problems arise maybe I will be able to see what is going on that has an effect on my sleep.

You too, Jimmy.

A friend is visiting last night and tonight. I slept on a sofa, so my routine was interrupted. Woke up once, but, fortified with a nutrition bar and my "Deep Sleep" app, managed to get another 2 hours for an overall total of about 8. Between the shut-eye and excitement about visiting today, I'm feeling pretty awake.

Once a week I "indulge", meaning I eat a lot. This week it was yesterday evening. Usually I sleep very well on those nights with a pleasantly full belly. This was true again of last night.

Wish there was a way to get that effect on my sleep while keeping the daily calorie intake under control.

Wonder if I should designate more calories to bedtime than I do currently.

Had two periods of wakefulness in the middle of the night. The second one seemed long, but eventually I did drift back to sleep. Total of 9 hours in bed, but 8 hours of sleep time.

Yahoo! I finally got a full 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. No trouble going to sleep, now waking up 3 or 4 times during the night and no getting up to go potty! It is amazing how refreshed I felt today. I felt so good I got a workout in and still had energy to run errands and clean house. Hoping tonight goes as well! emoticon

Week 2..yay. I think that 8 hours of sleep is actually a little too much for me. I am going to taper it back to 7 and see how that feels after a week of consistency. I am waking up groggy, and not feeling tired at night!

Although I had about an hour of sleeplessness in the middle of the night, I think I totaled 8 hours of sleep and I feel pretty good.

When anxiety gets me up at night, I really don't know what to do. This time, I just lay there and relaxed as much as possible. I thought positively as much as possible. Eventually, gradually, I did drift back to sleep. But I needed a nutrition bar and a change of blankets beforehand.

I slept alright, especially considering that I had two medium length naps yesterday. And that was because I went running in the morning with a fast runner. Afterwards, I was as tired as if I had ran in a 5k or something. I NEEDED those naps.

So, I slept about 7 hours, getting up once and needing a snack around 2ish.

Last night was my first night in week 2 of this challenge. And it was a decent night. I slept for almost 7 hours with only one bathroom get-up which I hardly remembered because I used the bathroom, fed the cat and immediately fell asleep when I got back in bed.

I think several things came together: I had a nutrition bar before bed, so I didn't get hungry during the night. My exercise yesterday was on the light end, so I didn't have any muscle soreness or over-stimulation. I had a nap yesterday, but it wasn't long.

Hopeful!
