I am in pretty good shape cardio wise. I have been run/walking for about 4 years, but do little crosstraining. I have to say that after doing Nicole's 7-10 minute daily bootcamp workouts, I can really FEEL them working. The workouts seem pretty easy when I am doing them and then a few hours later, OWWWW!!

It can only hurt so bad. www.mystjudeevent.org/samster

This challenge is definitely keeping me motivated. The hubby and I decided that we would start getting up early in the morning (5:45) because we were always too tired when we got home from work. So far, it's really worked out well and I am SO not a morning person! :)

On day five of the challenge. I've noticed that I have woke up during the night with a headache for the past week. Not sure if it's because I bumped up the exercise, whether I'm dehydrated, or it could just be a coincidence. I keep hoping that someday this will come easy for me.

I have not stepped on that scale yet! I am a little nervous, but excited at the same time. I weight in every Monday, and am just about to finish week 7 today. It feels good to have accomplished something, even as small as sticking to this challenge for a week. I'm sure it will feel GREAT once I get that trophy and the result in my body after 4 weeks.

emoticon I am so excited! I just finished day 7 bootcamp video and I am feeling strong plus its only 6 AM!

I know I don't have to do cardio today, but I am on a great streak so depending on outdoor weather conditions I may still get out there and do my aerobic walk but not push it forward with any additional cardio like shape boxing, cardio dvds, or the elliptical.

Cannot wait to see what week 2 has in store. I can honestly say this is helping me with motivation and better consistency with my workouts. I am concentrating more on finding my daily balance in life with healthy living and coordinating it with the rest of my life.

I sure hope this gets me to my middle goal of getting the next 10 pounds off, since I am tired of this plateau.

Nearly finished week 1 - meant to get up early today to do the video so I could relax the rest of the day, but my bed was waaaay too comfy! So going to have to do it later when I get back from my cousin's 21st - least this way I will have to stay off the booze so I can be alert to work out when I get home!
Have loved the exercises and the fact that I have some structure to my workouts! Fingers crossed I can last the 4 weeks!
Now I need to work out my food..... hmmmm! Is there a bootcamp for that!?!! :p

woohoo I finished week 1. I had a little trouble with today's as I am terrible with core, and most of my weight is around my middle, and lower back problems that make crunches/floor work challenging. I modified what I could and just held poses on what I couldn't but I completed it.

WRTRGURRL88,

Thanks for your response. Believe me, it is either feast or famine. I either over control the calories or don't have any control. One of my recent binges was half of a cheesecake with strawberries. Right now I am at about 1000 calories/ day. Too few. I've messed up my metabolism this way for years, I have to fix it.

I decided to plan menus for the week, maybe it will help to know what I am going to eat in the morning? Maybe it will help me NOT feel "full" to know that at the end of the day the count will be okay? I think I might be "building in space" for an end of the day binge by keeping my bfast low?

Beet!e had a question about eating enough food. I know it's a chore, but track everything so you know how many calories you are getting. I visited with a nutritionist recently and she said don't ever eat under 1200 calories (average) daily. That's just not healthy for a woman. Shoot for 350-400 for breakfast. If you can't eat it all at once, maybe spread it out for a couple of hours. If you are consistently falling below that 1200 a day mark, try adding a few high nutrition snacks that don't make you feel bloated. Like, almonds with a few craisins, a tablespoon or two of peanut butter, maybe even a hard boiled egg. If you eat dairy, 1 ounce of cheese with half an apple is a very good treat while getting you the calories and some fiber too. I wish I had your problem! I have trouble not going OVER my limit. Oh, I also have read "YOU! On a Diet" by Drs. Oz and Roisen--automating your eating is a quick way to be sure you're getting the proper nutrition and calories while avoiding cravings and uncertainty. That means eating essentially the same thing every day for at least two meals a day. Hope this helps! emoticon

Well I just finished the video for day 2 (twice!) and I'm feeling great!! I love this challenge!
I'm also coming down with a cold or something but I'm still pushing myself to do the bootcamp and hitting the gym at night.

emoticon because it's helping me to stay motivated to keep going, something I could never do on my own!

I'm going to copy other members' journal-entry idea for this challenge since it seems to help keep track of what we're doing.

Week 1:
Day 1 (1/5): Bootcamp video #1, 25 mins samba dancing (finally learning how to samba!), 25 cardio and 30 strength training @ the gym. (total calories burned: 622!)
Day 2 (1/6): Bootcamp Video #2 (twice)... haven't been to the gym yet...
Day 3 (1/7):
Day 4 (1/8):
Day 5 (1/9):
Day 6 (1/10):
Day 7 (1/11):

Checking in. My goal today is to plan my menus for the rest of the week and do the shop. I split my time between two locations, so I have to adjust everything depending on where I am so I have enough food for the people eating. Makes it a bit more complicated, but having the menus will keep it less stressful.

I seem to have more energy today than I have had in a awhile. I guess my body is liking the workouts.

Last night, I found Leslie Sansone walking workouts on "ON DEMAND" ! Loved the one I did.

Today is Day 4 for me and it’s looking good! Surprisingly, the very short videos are fun and challenging enough to make me want more! I may add a little extra, but I think for me that may be the point –they get me ‘started’ and wanting to do a little extra. So much better than doing nothing at all and then wanting to do less, LOL!

Jan 3 – Video #1 and additional 30 minutes on the treadmill
Jan 5 – Videos #2 and #3 plus additional 30 minutes on the treadmill
Jan 6 – planning on Video #4 tonight and a zumba class!

Good luck to all!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my wonderful husband! :)

So far so good I have done all 3 days of the video. Yesterday I did my walk and tone video for 25 minutes. Not sure if I am logging everything the way that I need to on this challenge board? I have been on spark people for a few years now and haven't done much with it until a few months ago. Have a happy day spakers. emoticon

I REALLY like this Challenge! I am on day 3 - and I am finding that I am definitely doing more and different exercises than I would do otherwise. I REALLY like those 7 - 10 minute videos...no matter how I feel, I know it is almost over!!

Okay....back on track. Day two and three workouts completed. Since one was upper body and one lower body, I don't feel like I compromised the workouts at all.

My biggest issue right now is eating enough. I know how weird that sounds, but when I start to work out and diet, I get almost TOO crazy about the food part. That leads to cravings and before you know it, I've given up and I'm back to bad habits.

By dinner, I'm ready to eat, but eating big last doesn't work for me. New minigoal....eat a more calorie dense, healthy breakfast. Any ideas? I tried oatmeal today. I love it, but could only eat half. Any suggestions??

Keeping up with what you can do is important - if you can't make it one day, do what you can. At least try to do something. Each step forward is a step in the right direction.

I made it through day 5. So far so good. It hasn't been easy, but it has been.

I feel like I'm getting off to a slow start, but trying not to get discouraged.

I haven't regularly exercised in awhile and I've done 30 minutes of aerobics all this week. I did the first day strength training, but haven't done it since.

I'm going up to my room to do day 2's routine, if I feel like it, I'll do day 3. If not, day 3 will be tomorrow morning and then day 4 in the afternoon.

That's my plan and I'm sticking to it!

Nutritionally, I'm very pleased with my progress this week. I'm eating clean and staying will within my calorie limit. I've come to recognize (once again) the importance of drinking water--and also the counter productiveness of diet soda. I've not had any diet soda since Saturday and I recognize that it definitely correlates to my snacking more...

Exercising today was the most difficult as I babysit my 15 month old grandson W-Th-F. This was one of the causes (actually I caused the problem) of my derailment from my healthy lifestyle...but today I made sure to go to the gym after having him from 6:45 to 3:35....not my greatest workout ever, but I got my 30 minutes of cardio and lifted for 50 minutes...

One other observation...logging in and tracking both fitness and nutrition daily are directly connected to success!

Wow that is really great...I know when I'm hurting, or not feeling well that is the hardest time to keep doing it. Keep up the good work!

I hate posting what I have done because compared to others I look like I'm not even trying but I know I am and it will get better. Do you all post any where else but here. I's there a general discussion board for the group?

So today is my scheduled Day 1 and I got out and did 50 minutes of cardio. I did crunches and quite a bit of stretching. Was scheduled to do strength training but didn't have access to video at work where I'll be doing all my cardio. I'm really going to focus on doing the cardio workouts daily and I'm focusing on stretches and crunches for core strength.

I have done three days now of riding my stationary bike 10 min
I also use my hand weights lifting my arms, up, out and back and forth while riding the bike. I have a Sit and be fit video I can do for fifteen min. I hope this is ok. I'm really loving this, but can't believe I'm saying that lol plus have lost 7# in just three days already. I was really retaining fluids...

Week 1, Day 1 Check-in (01/03): 30 minutes on the rebounder...moderately high energy. And the video. At first I thought the video was hockey...but then, it started to kick my ass!

You go girl!

I started the challenge on 1/1/11 and did the 10 minute video. Not the best idea for the morning after New Year's Eve :)

1/2/11 I didn't do anything

1/3/11 I did day 2 and 3 videos and completed my strength training emoticon
