I use them too, but recently have been doing outside walking in lieu of a dvd. However when I do use a dvd, WATP and Zumba are my go to workouts!

I have one of her dvds and I like workin out to them too. You can go at you own pace. Good to do if you can't get out and exercise you can do them in your own house. I need to get mind back out and start using it.

I love Leslie Sansone!!!! Many of her videos are available free on youtube so you can check them out before you buy them. The majority of my weight loss comes from following her workouts. A great way to build in the exercise needed into your personal program. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Leslie makes walking in your own house or apartment fun and easy. She is one of the many things I do, especially on days I can't go out, to help me keep movie. I also do yoga in the house, ride my bike, I've even started doing pushups and crunches, on purpose even, just to mix things up and because my trainer at the Gym said they help. And it's all helping!

I went walkin today with my two daughters at an inside track. First time ever doing something like this.... I was only able to do 4 laps wich is just over a quarter of a mile but hey, better than nothing right?? Feeling good about me taking control and making the effort to better health and weight loss!!!

Hello, I also weigh over 300, I am at 370, and yes it is difficult, but remember, always that you are not alone. My name is Lucy, and I will be your forever friend in losing the weight.We have to do it for ourselves, because we love ourselves. Remember to have apples, carrots and tomatoes or any fruit always available, if you feel yourself slipping, as I sometimes do. But , you are special and I believe in you.

I HAVE TRIED A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT THINGS. FROM STEP AEROBICS, TO DVD'S, TO TREADMILL. ALL ARE GREAT, BUT YOU MUST KNOW YOUR BODYS LIMITATIONS. I HAVE STARTED DIETING AGAIN DUE TO MY HEALTH. THE DOCTORS SAY I MUST. I AM PRESENTLY WALKING 3-4TIMES A WEEK. I USE THE GAZELLE ALSO. IT IS GREAT IF YOU NEED LOW-IMPACT WORKOUTS. I WILL BE STARTING TO ADD WEIGHTS FOR STRENGTH TRAINING. WHATEVER TYPE OF EXERCISE YOU CHOOSE TO DO START SLOW AND BUILD UP OR ADD TO YOUR EXERCISE. THE MAIN THING IS TO GET UP AND MOVE! emoticon

I'm going to try the Turbo Jam DVD - I always thought it would be for just the fittest, but a lot of us have seemed to try it and love it.

Hello all....

I picked up one of the WATP DVD's today while I was out shopping. I am looking forward to trying it, since it appears that it is a very good option. I live in Florida and the heat makes wanting to walk outside sometimes unbearable.

I have some of the WATP. I like them a lot. Lately I decided I needed something new, so I stopped at the library. They had lots of workout tapes and dvds. It's nice to try out something different before buying. Last night I did Richard Simmons Sweating to the Oldies...oh the 80s fashions, made me laugh (because in the past I wore some of those "flash dance" outfits!) emoticon

I LOVE the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. I am up to doing 3 fast miles, Walk and Tone with the resistance band, twice a day now. I really enjoy them! I am going to get a couple more just to change it up, but I've tried about 4 of them and I have really enjoyed all of them.

She has more beginning type of DVD's too - so ANYONE can do this!!

I kicked it up to 3 miles today, I had had depression funk for a couple of months and had not exercised at all. So I started back with 1 mile, then 2 miles and my son asked me the other day why I wasn't doing 3 miles anymore, so this morning I was feeling pretty good and I went for it.

And man to I feel.... emoticon I'm sitting here cooling down and my hair is totally wet with sweat, as is my shirt, YEAH!!!!
I LOVE the WATP DVD's and Leslie Sansone for making them.

I heard about it in WW. I was shopping in Walmart a while ago, and ran across them. it had all three 1,2,and 3 mile walks on one dvd and the strength balls in one pack for 13.00USD.

It's an aerobic walking program hosted by Leslie Sansone. She has 1, 2, 3, and 5 mile walks. You do it in your house, and it doesn't take a lot of room. She adds a little bit of strength training to the workout. I use the 3 mile video regularly, and I love it. Trust me, the narration gets a little old after awhile, but sometimes I just tune that out. When you get tired, she encourages you to just go back to walking in place. I have bad knees, but it doesn't seem to bother them too badly. I recommend the videos. I have been doing Walk Away The Pounds since I started with Sparkpeople. I started with the 1 mile on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Now I have worked up to the 2 mile on Monday Wednesday and Friday. Then I do the 1 mile on Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. I love it. I may look into the WATP group.

I use WATP as well. I LOVE them! My 5 year old and 2 year old daughters, and three year old grandson like to do them with me, that makes it really fun for me. They are funny to watch! They never miss a step, or a day and they keep me on my toes. I just Started WW a couple of weeks ago, and incorporated WATP this week. I was thrilled to find something like this to start my exercise program.

btw, I am new, I did post an intro in the introduce yourself section. I am glad to have found this board, and look forward to getting to know you all. :)

I think the pedomoter is one of the best things I ever bought! It's actually really fun to watch it all day and see if I can add a few more steps... My goal is to do at least 10,000 steps a day, and I've exceeded that every day. Besides the treadmill in the morning and all the walking at school, it's inspired me to take my dog for a 1/2mile or so walk after work. Good for both of us lol. Too bad it's going to pour rain the next two days. I haven't added an incline on the treadmill yet(although our subdivision is hilly). I'm going to try doing a small incline next week.

Welcome to the group! I think you'll find this is an amazingly supportive bunch. I'm about where you are in losing weight. I'm walking at least five days a week (on the treadmill most days because the weather here isn't too great), and I just got a pedometer to measure how much I walk during the day. I just joined spark people and I am so excited that other people who have a lot of weight to lose are getting so much success. I love walk away the pounds too. I just had knee surgery and am in the rehabilitation phase of my recovery. I welcome any motivation out there because I am going to need it. My weight ballooned to 350+ and I have started a walking program to help me get back in shape. I would like to weigh 180 lbs when this is over. I am 6 ft. tall.

Discover, any of the dvds are ok to start with. You can do all or part of any of them. I bought a package with several dvds together. The only one I didn't like was the fast firming one, I like my Biggest loser weight training much better. All of the other WATP dvds are really good, I have the 2 and 3 fast miles and the 4 fast miles. Good luck.

And Successtime, congratulations on getting a handle on the exercise thing. One step at a time, you will make it! WooHoo! Way to go!

Hi Everyone. I'm new to spark people. Last week i started my journey and I started by getting up in the morning and doing WATP. I'm extremely happy becasue I did 4 days last week and have continued this week. I feel good. The walking DVD's are manageable for me which helps keep me going. I've done a really bad job with meal plan but I'm taking one challenge at a time. Getting out of the bed and exercising is such a great accomplishment for me that I don't want to ruin it by feeling bad about the food. I thought I did great until I plugged in the nutrition information. So far this sight seems like it's going to help me stay motivated.

Just wanted to post an update, I have been using the WATP DVD's for about 11 days now, I have only missed 3 days this month, doing a 3 mile walk everyday and I can tell that it is working very well. I feel so much better and have a good idea that my weigh in on Monday is going to be a good one emoticon

I love Leslie's upbeat attitude, it keeps me on track with doing my workouts, I really look forward to exercising with her.

I also own a variety of WATP dvds and like them to add in to the mix. I like to do the shorter ones (mostly two mile workouts) when I'm not feeling up to an hour long workout or I'm pressed for time. I also like them because I live in a small apartment and they don't take much floor space to do. This is important to me since I find a lot of dvds require you to move around more than I have space. I bought most of my dvds for less through amazon or half.com.

I have three sets of Leslie Samsone WATP's video's. They are really great and very realistic exercises to do.
I have a bad back and they do not effect it at all. I do recommend them to any body that is thinking about starting a walking program.

emoticon 's WOW thanks for all of your input on the Walk Away the Pounds videos!! I just LOVE Leslie's upbeat attitude, she really keeps me going. WD I will use her workout everyday hopefully and plan to have a lot of success, it is something I really look forward too doing each day. Julia, Night and Lori good to see that you all enjoy her videos too, and that they can be done even with bad knees. That is why I love them so much, because with all of this weight it can be hard to keep up with workout videos, and these have moves that I can do and pretty much keep up with the whole workout emoticon

Oh and Ari, the workouts are mostly walking in place with little changes to keep things interesting. she sometimes adds arm movements or side steps, etc. You should check them out, very easy!

And I do have several of the WATPs dvds. I have the 1, 2 and 3 fast miles, the 4 fast miles, and the firming dvds. I haven't tried the firming one yet but I like the other ones. I actually can do the 4 miles! Who would a thunk?! Congrats and way to go!

Can you describe the workout a bit? What types of exercises are involved?

Regi, I have the DVD of Walk Away The Pounds. I like those DVD's they are great to start with until you are ready for more vigorous exercise. Plus they are great to have for hot or rainy days. You still get your workout in and I did lose weight using them. I used them 5 days a week and I loved it. Good luck and I hope you will enjoy them. My 13 yr old does the tapes with me if I am doign them when she is home. She says it gets her going and helps get her in shape for the gym classes...LOL.

I went to the library and checked out some workout VHS tapes just to see if I could find something that would work for me, because being as large as I am some of those workout tapes out there are just WAY to fast of a pace for me to keep up and do the exercising correctly. And I was starting to get really frustrated about that, then I did the Walk Away the Pounds 2 mile High Calorie burn workout with Leslie Sansone, and man do I LOVE IT!!! Even my 13 yr. old daughter thought it looked like fun and that it was easy. Today is my 3rd day using it, and yesterday I went out and bought my own DVD's so that I have them to keep. I have already dropped 6 lbs. in 3 days, but part of that I know was due to Aunt Flow being here when I weighed on the first day of this month and today being my first weigh in day of the month I was quite happy to see a 6 lb. difference, even if part of it was due to bloating and such.
Have any of you tried her workouts and what did you think about it???
This to me is a workout that I can do everyday and stick to it, it is just fun to me and boy do I sweat. And we all know sweating is a GOOD THING!!!!
