Yesterday I made a pea and cauliflower curry. Frozen peas, small florettes of a whole cauli and cook with Indian butter sauce until veges are cooked. Very simple, the hardest part is cutting the cauli. It was very tasty with crumbed fish and couscous.

Anne, igf you click on the butterfly pic in our team page, it'll take you directly there. Unluckily, the only way to have a team cookbook so far is for one member to create it and add it from their page. So, I created it and so if we want changes, or to add or remove, I have to do it. But any member could ask for a recipe to be posted. If I copy the recipes from here, they appear as mine, so if you want a recipe of yours to be in the cookbook, you need to create it in My SparkRecipes and then send me the link. Following the link I add it to our cookbook and anybody will see it there!
We already have some great recipes!

edited because answer was already given about the broccoli slaw - just hadn't read back far enough -- so I'll add a recipe :)

Hugs.

Mango and Peach Smoothie
Serves 1

1 large mango, stoned and chopped
1 peach, stoned and chopped
1 banana, sliced
1 cup water
1 small tub blueberries

1. blend all ingredients (except the blueberries) until smooth.
2. Add more water if you want a thinner consistency.
3. Pour over blueberries and drink
--Gillian McKeith "Slim for Life"

When I make this as a breakfast I don't pour the smoothie over the blueberries - They don't fit up a straw - so I just eat them out of the basket.

Just the stalks. You could probably get the same effect by peeling and then shredding them with the largest holes on a grater and throwing in a small amount of the red cabbage and the other veggie mentioned in the recipe.

I tried this one from SparkRecipes today, and was totally amazed with the taste. It has several ingredients, and I had to adjust for size, but is so simple to put together, I thought I should post it here. Most INTERESTING recipe I've found yet, lol.

Butternut or Yam soup (below is from memory, cause it's my daughter's favorite) Original recipe from Gillian McKeith's "Slim for Life"

Makes 4 servings:

2 medium yams ('bout size of hand) OR 1 med butternut squash - peeled and deseeded (if using butternut,) cut into ~1 inch cubes

2 med carrots - peeled, sliced

1/2 med onion - peeled and roughly chopped

1 clove garlic - peeled and smooshed (umm, crushed? use flat side of knife across garlic on cutting board, makes paste-ish of garlic)

1/2 teaspoon Vegetable bullion (I use "Better than Bullion")

~3.5 cups water (enough to just cover the veggies in pot. If adding more water, increase the bullion slightly)

In med saucepan: add all ingredients, boil until veggies become very tender, ~15min.
Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
Use wand blender to blend the softened veggies until smooth consistency OR use blender (either w/o top or w/vent opened to avoid pressure build up)
(add a little extra water if it's too thick, then rewarm gently)

Serve.
that's it :) It is SO yum!

I have updated the sausage and pepper recipe. If you have trouble, let me know. I can give a thumbs up to Chef Meg's Slow cooker chicken Provencal. I used the amounts called for on Sunday to feed DD & DSIL The amount of chicken was a little skimpy for them, but the taste was goo. I served it with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli and garlic bread.

This one was really easy too. I tried to put it in my cookbook, but will just put in the link here. I did modify a little, but it didn't make a difference-using boneless chops, and I put in the oven in a pan with a lid. If I remember, I had the oven at 350deg F for about 2 hrs. When I took it out of the oven, I thickened the sauce with cornstarch for a yummy brown gravy.

It will be a very long time then, before the real thing hits Louisiana. So I guess my kangaroo chops are safe for now, lol. I do guarantee that when the start selling in the USA, Louisiana grocers will be one of the first to carry it........ We'll eat anything.

Thanks Gloria.

Cynthia, we actually have kangaroo chops here. It is a fat free meat and very good for you but has not quite taken off yet and is seen more as a delicacy, (although there are millions of kangaroos in Australia). They are not farmed as I think they are too hard to herd and far from being domesticated. Although they hop it is amazing to see a dog chasing them going like the clappers but the kangaroos just hop off at a glide.

PS I've also made the lemonade scones a share recipe now. Sorry about that Katty.

Okay, I think it should be seen by all now. In "My Recipe Box", there is a list of all recipes you have entered and it shows at the right of the list where you can mark it shared or not. If you don't share as you enter the recipe, then you go there to change it.

Hey Sandy, the pork chops stuffed with feta and spinach was our favorite. We liked it so much, DH went to the store and bought another pork loin to cut up and freeze just for that dish. Already prepared with a pocket before freezing. I labeled them kangaroo chops, lol.

you're tagged! emoticon I just went there and deleted your scones which were the first private recipe!. I figured out the problem. Apparently, when a recipe is marked as private by the owner nobody else can see it unless the owner shares it. You shared your scones and Gloria shared her soup. But when I added the recipes to the cookbook, they didn't appear because they were private, not to be share except by the owner! So, we'll have to wait till Gloria makes the recipe public. it will then appear in our cookbook

Sorry Katty. I tried looking for the soup recipe on Flybabies cookbook and although there are thirteen recipes down as being there. There are twelve recipes viewable but one is marked as private. I thought it might be the soup as you had just added it. I'll go to Gloria's link and see if it is marked as private. ... No trouble getting into there so perhaps you have not made it public. .... I've just checked the Flybabies cookbook again and see that now there are twelve recipes with eleven viewable and one marked private. It's a mystery to me.

I made Minute Minestrone Soup today...haven't eaten it yet, but we were all drooling! It's for my lunches this week, so I get some veggies at lunch...quite easy:

1 14 oz can diced tomatoes
1 14 oz can chicken broth
2 cups zucchini, sliced
1 cup carrots, sliced
Parsley and basil (I used Mrs. Dash instead)

bring to a boil on the stovetop
Add 1 cup elbow macaroni noodles
Simmer until veggies and noodles are tender
Serve with parmesan cheese garnish

Cannot wait until lunch! Will let you know how it tastes tomorrow!

I love listening to different accents. Some I can identify, some not! I'm glad you added the video links Cynthia, because just trying to type to give an idea of how a dialect goes, usually is not enough!
Thanks,
Gloria

You wouldn't believe how much i'm enjoying this conversation! I love English and learning about the different cultures. And pronunciation is fascinating!

How did the Cajun culture start? Why where they French?

I know the A you refer to Sandy!!! my pronunciation is very good but still a mixture of American and British. I learnt Am English, but teach British. So, my pronunciation reflects it!. Not much problem in writing. I do the American spelling really well, but keep writing the British way because I don't want my students to have mixed spellings as that is critical in a set of exams they sit for.

It is a shame when accents are lost. It's like a way of life disappears.
I still have a Scottish accent but not nearly as strong as when I was back home. The only vowel I have a problem with in Australia is the letter A, I say a soft Ay which Australian think is E, they say it quite harshly Aee. there is not nearly the number of differing or pronounced accents in Australia as there are in Scotland. Just a couple of miles and people spoke with a different twang.

My accent isn't that strong. My mom grew up during the time when they were forced to speak English at home so they would know enough of it when they got to school. She spoke only French till she was 2. But because of this she forgot most everything she knew of French, and was drilled in proper English, as was I the entire time I was growing up. I can understand the Cajun French, and everyone here knows English, but only the ones that speak the cajun french have the heavy accents. I still say "aig" instead of egg, and I lose some of my vowels when I talk too fast, but I do pronounce my t's, th's, and any other consonant that cajun's tend to forget. It's a dying language and the next generation will never know or hear the colorful speech this area is so well known for. It's a shame too, as I find the older people here much easier to get along with, way more friendly, and such wonderful tale spinners, lol.

By the way, I love the scottish accent too, and they are also wonderful tale spinners.

that was so much fun!!!!! Thanks Cynthia! Love you! - do you sound like that too? I'll have to practice a lot to get that accent!

So far, the funniest accent I had found was Scottish (sorry Sandy!- she's originally from Scotland)but now I love Cajun too!

Thank you ladies, you've all been so busy with recipes while I have been in the Land of Nod. I've copied them all and will get a load of chicken while shopping today.
