Great job, Loren! Sorry to hear about your dh. Hope he heals quickly.

For me:

1. Complete at least 900 minutes of exercise during the month.
I've had over 1,000 minutes this month. emoticon

2. Walk at least 8,000 steps per day. If I meet that this month, I'm upping that to 8,500 steps next month.
Did pretty well with this but have had about 5 days when I haven't made it. Mostly with traveling, but some other days when I've been tired. Will try again next month at 8,000 steps.

3. Spend at least 30 minutes per day doing something for myself, like reading or cross stitch.

Okay time for a check in, even though the month isn't over yet.

1. Get in my 10,000 steps a day.
This has been going well. I had to do some pacing in a doctors office while DH had surprise surgery, but I got them in! I think I am going to carry this one forward.

2. WT 3 X per week.
This did not happen. The past few weeks were a wash.... Need to consider this one for Dec.

3. Get homemade Christmas gifts completed.
This happened, but the gifts will now not be dropped off as expected due to DH eye surgery. We will try to see family some time in 2020 when DH can travel again.

4. Eat a "salad" everyday.
Did this one. Yah. I really think I will carry this forward.

Greb--the key is making time and not making excuses. I'm in a habit now and it's hard not to do it. Good luck, it's hard to establish the routine.

Loren--Good job on your goals. Give yourself grace on the cold. Let your body heal.

For me:

1. Complete at least 900 minutes of exercise during the month. With leaf raking, I should be able to do this, even with fewer days this month.
I'm currently at 750 minutes and can easily get to 900 this month. I got a lot of raking in last weekend and I'm not sure how much will happen this weekend (traveling out of town). But even if I don't rake again this month, my normal exercise routine will more than get me to 900 minutes.

2. Walk at least 8,000 steps per day. If I meet that this month, I'm upping that to 8,500 steps next month.
Still doing well. I made it to 55 days in a row of 8,000 steps per day on my cell phone pedometer. I haven't made it the last few days, but my other activities have added up to over 8,000, so I am still meeting this goal.

3. Spend at least 30 minutes per day doing something for myself, like reading or cross stitch.
Still doing well on this. I finished one book and got some more from the library. I'm progressing on my cross stitch, but I'm not sure it'll be done before Christmas.

Come on Greb, you are so close on these goals!! Woo Hoo!

I am glad I kept mine simple as I got a lingering cold that is making everything less enjoyable.

1. Get in my 10,000 steps a day.
Still doing this, even with my cold. Apparently wandering around isn't hindered by runny nose and stuffy everything. The cold weather feels nice.

2. WT 3 X per week.
With the cold, doing hard lifting just isn't happening.

3. Get homemade Christmas gifts completed.
I got the sewing done and framed. Yah! So excited. It took two years, but it is finally done.

4. Eat a "salad" everyday.
This continues. Usually it is just fill half my plate with a leafy green and eat it. Today was a few hand fulls of spinach.

checking in at the 2/3 point.

emoticon for the day of 20,000 steps, LORENVER. Hope the Christmas gifts are going well.
emoticon MARCHEM, your consistency is the thing I need to master. Thanks for the inspiration.

emoticon I'm doing okay on the squats. I'm not doing all 10 sets everyday, but I'm doing at least some daily. Well, except right after the root canal when my face was swollen and anything that raised my blood pressure hurt. That's all resolved now, so no more excuses.

emoticon My average is 28.8 but the only days I was below 30 were the four around the root canal, so I think I can still get this one without any changes.

emoticon Well, I have just over 2 miles logged, but in just 2 swims. Consistency is not my strength. I'll get in one long swim after Thanksgiving and still make the distance goal if not the number of visits.

emoticon I'm about 50/50 on the packed lunch goal. Ate Amy's Kitchen black bean enchiladas today. Back at it tomorrow...

emoticon I'm caught up on the reading. Book club meeting is in two days and I'm almost done with the book. Science talks not so much - I've had three on my calendar and the thing I was doing just before has run long each time. So I got to a workshop using javascript simulation to teach biology on Saturday. There's Scratch Paper (mini-talks by people about their research) at Caveat Saturday and an astronomy lecture on Tuesday, but they're kinda in the middle of other things. Maybe the seal watch on the 30th counts as a science "talk"

emoticon Flexible Spending Account. Ummm....

emoticon voted. debate watch party manana. steady on the VoteForward. dunno when the impeachment vote is going to come, so I still need to select a fourth thing...

emoticon

For me:

1. Complete at least 900 minutes of exercise during the month. With leaf raking, I should be able to do this, even with fewer days this month.
I'm currently at 385 minutes 1/3 of the way through the month and I haven't even started raking yet, so I'm well on track. I wasn't feeling the greatest this morning and worked out anyway, Dh asked why and I told him it was my stress relief and it is. Feeling much better after.

2. Walk at least 8,000 steps per day. If I meet that this month, I'm upping that to 8,500 steps next month.
I'm doing well with this. Just made a 50 day streak of 8,000 steps or more yesterday. I was going to give myself permission to take it easy at some point, but seeing this goal reminded me to keep at it.

3. Spend at least 30 minutes per day doing something for myself, like reading or cross stitch.
I've managed to keep doing this. I'm reading a really good book and making progress on my cross stitch project.

Keep at it Greb, you can do it! I can't believe we are 1/3 already, yeesh.
As for me....

1. Get in my 10,000 steps a day.
Yes- with gusto. I love this weather. One day I even got in 20,000!

2. WT 3 X per week.
I've been shooting for 4, so bonus!

3. Get homemade Christmas gifts completed.
I've got a week and a half before travel. Better get on this!

4. Eat a "salad" everyday.
Yes. Always something. Sometimes it is a sad "salad" but I always have something.

Oy, already 1/3 of the way through the month!!!

emoticon I was good until Thursday and then dropped the ball. not ready to restart yet today - hopefully tomorrow.

emoticon I think I'm still good on this one - need to recharge my phone so I can download data from my FitBit.

emoticon Okay, I haven't gone to the pool yet. Gotta get on this one.

emoticon diet goal is 3 for 5. didn't cook for the 1st; forgot my delicious lunch at home on the 4th; carried it 5th, 6th, 7th; it's waiting in the work fridge for me for the 12th.

emoticon got my alumni book club book from the library and just finished my last book, so will start it on the train tonight. Secret Science Club talk tomorrow night. A little behind on the Kairos readings and still need to pick out a second science talk - might be an astronomy talk on Friday.

emoticon spent a whole bunch of money on an endodentist Friday and Saturday so that's good, sorta?

emoticon Voted, obviously, signed up for the debate watch party, still steadily working on Vote Forward mailings. Need to pick out one more event.

All in all, I feel like it's still within reach for the month, but I've slipped significantly these last few days.

I know I'm late posting, but I've been working on them already...

Goals for November:

emoticon the strength goal is just focusing on low intensity work to strengthen my right leg again so I can push it in December without worrying about the knee. I will do 8 to 10 SHORT sets of squats a day so there's plenty of recovery time, but I'm still getting in 50 to 100 squats a day.

emoticon I will average 30 flights of stairs a day

emoticon The GOAL is that I will go to the pool eight times in the month of November, but I'll be content with fewer swims if I still get in at least 3 1/2 miles for the month.

emoticon diet goal is about packing my lunch. I already messed up on November 1st, but I will eat homemade food at my desk every workday for the rest of the month. Black bean chili, cornbread, roasted brussels sprouts and an apple for tomorrow.

emoticon nerdy goal - I'll complete the book for my alumni book club and the readings for the Kairos discussion group and attend two science talks this month.

emoticon repeat finance goal - by the end of the month I will have a plan to spend all of my flexible spending account money by the end of the year so I don't just donate cash to Uncle Sam again this year.

emoticon citizenship goal - I will participate in two presidential election activities, one voting rights/ redistricting activity, and one local or state election activity. this one is going to repeat every month until election 2020.
One will be the debate watch party, one is voting, one will probably be an impeachment rally, and one will be Vote Forward flyering.

emoticon

Thank you for posting your goals MARCHEM! They are good goals. I am glad this helps you out.

As mentioned previously, there will be much van travel this month so there needs to be some active planning but this is the plan:

1. Get in my 10,000 steps a day.
2. WT 3 X per week.
3. Get homemade Christmas gifts completed.
4. Eat a "salad" everyday.

Loren, thanks for keeping this going. Mine worked well last month, so I'm going to do some similar ones this month.

1. Complete at least 900 minutes of exercise during the month. With leaf raking, I should be able to do this, even with fewer days this month.

2. Walk at least 8,000 steps per day. If I meet that this month, I'm upping that to 8,500 steps next month.

Hello Team,

For North America, the holiday season is picking up steam, as is the questionable weather. So what are your goals and ambitions as we move into November?

I haven't figured mine out yet. I'll be doing much traveling so that makes it more complicated.
