Well the holidays are still upon us. And I am just NOT ready. This year we will be traveling so not decorating like we normally do. I put up a tensel outline of a tree on the wall and we are decorating that.

Mainly I am trying to get back on my schedule. Have to get the house ready to bring back more boxes when I come back from my vacation.

We like to bake cookies for our neighbors. So we really need to get started. Only have a few days left.

Well I survived the great day of thanks, thanks to my dd. She organized the cooking and did most of it, too. My sister helped her, but dd was the leader. All I did was fry the Turkey and keep everyone on track.

My house, however has not survived the attack of the 3 yo. But it's so great to have family here that the only thing I try to stay on track with are the bathrooms, laundry and kitchen. And we are managing nicely, as long as I try to do a little at a time and not stress about the rest.

It's the love. It just can't be replaced there's only ever one of that person. I was fortunate. I had my grandma for 51 years. She lived to be 93. I miss her too.

I have one of those - somewhere! I got mine from my Dad. He sold advertising supplies - pens, covers, mugs, totes etc. I miss him even after 32 yrs.

Just got the bathroom mopped. With it being the puppy room it needs done every day. Glad I got a "Round Tu-It". emoticon In loving memory of my Grandma. :^) She got me a wooden disk that read "Round Tu-It". She said, "Now you can never say you didn't get around to it."

To you too!

I finally got that kitchen floor mopped. I have been having a splitting headache which does not help my efforts. I will say that since joining this team I am getting something done each day even if it's not on the list. I figure that's better than hiding my head in the sand. thank you all for being here. Well, lets see........Tues eve. last week DSIL and her DH arrived. Short visit as they left mid morning after I was at work. Wed. eve called oldest DGD for her 13th B'day then called DSD for his b'day. Ended up takin Thurs as a vacation day to drive south for the funeral of my great-nephew. 3 mos. old. Even tho we moved as fast as we could missed about 1/2 of the eulogy. Hope to get a video of the service soon. I am glad he is at peace now. Headed home on Fri but the first half of the trip was in rain. Sat. made dough for a project at church and went for groceries. Sun. I made two batches of the family special sweet bread recipe and put 3 of the 4 loaves in the freezer for Turkey day celebration with DD2 at her in-law's house. Yesterday was spent trying to get back on track for eating better and drinking more water. Worked on the cross stitch after dinner. Lots to be thankful for, and thankful we had safe travels and now on to getting things done between now and Christmas.

Okay, I accomplished one thing off my list today. I visited my grandfather in the hospital today. He's been pretty sick with pneumonia and emphesyma problems and probably won't live very much longer, but I had trouble getting myself to visit him because he has done some pretty awful things to our family over the years.

However, this has taken a huge load off of my shoulders, making me feel more at peace with the probability he will pass away. Now maybe I can have a little more mental capacity for other worries!

My husband and I spent a night away from home last night, staying at the nearby Oregon Coast. Our room had a large jacuzzi tub in it, and I spent much of the evening soaking in the tub, reading a book, watching a football (american style) game on TV with my husband. Sooooo peaceful, and just what I needed. I feel so much more rested, and I am not stressed at all.

This afternoon, I am going to vacuum the house and clean the bathrooms. Then I am going to prepare lunches for the next three days and get some dinner prepared in the crock pot for tomorrow's meal. Leftovers in the fridge for tonight will clean some space in the fridge for me!

This week I plan on doing the following list:
--Projects for my college courses
--Go to the gym 4 times
--Drink 8 oz of water daily...I still struggle with this, even with keeping water everywhere...work, car, home

Also, purchasing most of my Christmas gifts will be done on Friday, hooray for Black Friday, I love the craziness!

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Holidays have started for us. Family arrived yesterday. A day late (missed the plane the first day). My goal now is to maintain and keep the house from going back. I managed to get most things done and even get in a few extra chores.

Caught up with the housework today only to have daughter visit with kids. Great time had by all, but the house will need redoing tomorrow - but I'm out all day and have to pick up my car which has been in for major repair.

Today was a trying day...kids had a difficult day in the classroom, Sarah had a difficult evening, and the cats felt the need to be extra pesky tonight! However, my husband did send me a pretty bouquet of flowers for our anniversary today! We're going to the coast this weekend, yay!

This week I am going to catch up on my volunteer work, clean my tub, and get anything out of my livingroom that doesn't belong there. Oh, and it looks like Halloween threw up all over my house, so I'll take care of that too.

Well I actually managed to get quite a bit done in the classroom, yesterday. Even got two pics and curtains hung. I set up temporary files to coral the paper and filled up the trashcan. Still have the desk and table to clear. But not too worried about that. I also got dd to finally start working on her mountain of laundry and clean her room.

Family doesn't arrive until afternoon. So we have all morning to work. Well I need to get in bed.

Good night or morning.

This week, I am going to do the following list:
--Finish projects for my college courses
--Do a "15 Minute" area each evening (except wed, cause I have class wed eve's )
--Avoid fast food
--Visit my grandfather...I have made the decision to visit him, but due to the swine flue, children under 12 are not allowed in...so I haven't been able to visit because my husband has not been home at a decent time for me to visit in the last week without my daughter

Well, for me, it is pretty relaxed. We will have Christmas with the family here, but we don't have Thanksgiving beforehand so I think it makes it a much easier lead up.

Christmas morning we have a Champagne breakfast where a Scottish black pudding is part of the meal of bacon, sausage, eggs and croissants.

Opening of the presents follows.

Dinner is early, at about 4pm. Starters is usually fresh melon and grapes and mango.

Hubby cooks the turkey in the Weber while veges are roasting and we will have a ham as well. Many Australians prefer to have a fish meal of barbecued whole salmon, prawns, crab and salad but our family prefers the traditional on Christmas day.

Later we will have dessert which is a new variation this year with my daughter insisting on making Christmas cup cakes, so that will be very nice.

All in all it is about the family enjoying the time together and catching up with all the news of the year. I've already bought the bon bons and will gradually get all the other things as the weeks go on.

I love going to the midnight service.

What about you Katty? How do you celebrate Christmas?

3- get on top of my hand wash
4- plan my meals for next week
5-shop for groceries for next week

Phew!! I think you are all making me tired thinking of you all buzzing around. Holidays are for relaxing - but it's amazing what we have to do to relax!!!

I'm losing it a bit since starting our walking but trying just to do the obvious. Son is house sitting his brother's house so hubby and I don't make much mess so all is okay for the moment.

Well, this is just a fine howdy do! It took me three days to get all my shopping done. We have had several weather fronts go through here & it has played havoc on me. Then yesterday, DSIL called -they will be stopping by (free motel) on their way home from visiting her DS' son. in San Antonio. So today I left instructions to clean the bathrooms and vac the house - only the middles! Guess I'll try and mop the kitchen after work. Then DD and I go out tonight for a meeting. Does not sound like a week where I will accomplish very much! At least, I have all the holiday food in the house except for sausage for the stuffing and green beans! And I won't need much except veggies for the rest of the week surrounding! Now to get busy on the baking!

Well, my mom, sister and great nephew arrive on Tuesday and I stil have oh so much to do. I am in overtime mode and I know that is not the Flylady way. I have gotten so many boxes cleared out, but still so many more. I keep finding them. Little boxes with small things and bits of paper.

I did get my spare room all straightened up, boxes gone and curtains to the windows. Got the boxes out of the hall. Will work on the diningroom tomorrow, which has been the storage area, because it is close to the garage. Also the classroom. It is just clutter - no order at all. All this has to be done in the morning because dd has three hour choir reh tomorrow night and 1 hr travel both ways.

The holidays are here!

A haircut sounds good! I love to get out of the hairdresser feeling renewed!

ok, my list this week was:
1- put away all the material used for studying - half way there
2- wash the stairs- mmmmm
3- get on top of my hand wash-none, rainy today so no chance this weekend unless it's dry and hot tomorrow
4-start planning my meals- done for the week!
5- TO LOOK AFTER MYSELF: go to bed early- done

Today I'll combine two challenges- the 15 min in the Flylady tutorial and the week list here so I'll
take 15 min and work on study material
another 15 and plan meals for the week (and shop for groceries later!)
a third 15 period and wash the stairs.

I'm at the opposite spectrum - up far too early. All that exercise yesterday has me up and about at 4.30 after lying awake since 2am. Madness!!!

I used to do this when I was teaching and prepare lessons for days ahead so I know how you can get caught up Charyse.

Christmas in Melbourne is hot weather mostly but sometimes it can revert to winter but it is still warm compared to Scotland where I was born and grew up. It's long summer days and evenings that are balmy and filled with the smell of barbecues cooking. Up North it is called the wet because it is hot, hot, hot and steamy from the tropical rain that falls every afternoon.

Okay, so I'm off to bed a half hour after 10:30 tonight, but closer to bedtime than the last few nights were!

I drank only 2 cups of water today :( Will work on this tomorrow!

I didn't eat dinner at home, but chose a grilled chicken dish and only had water to drink instead of soda or lemonade or the daquiri I really wanted

Okay, so I started to work on a paper for a class I'm taking, and by the time it was time for me to leave I was just finishing it, so my kitchen did not get done today...it is my goal tomorrow when I get home from work!

I hope everyone is starting to feel ready for the holidays...I am excited about the holidays, the beginning of school through New Years is always my favorite time of year...fall is in the air, football games on Friday nights or Saturdays, Halloween, Thanksgiving, fresh school year, Christmas and winter break...so much fun!

I agree with Gloria, Sandy, when you come back we will need photos and to hear all about it. It's the most amazing adventure I have heard of anyone I know! I don't think I would be able to walk 23 kilometres in one day, less more than one day!

Charyse, I am so glad for your success! I remember how difficult it was with a baby in the home! And having all that school work to do! I am really really glad you find times to regain balance and feel good! Baby steps!

Well done Charyse.

We are hoping to go about the 20th April and have about 30 days all up. We want to visit hubby's sister in London for a few days and my brother in the High Peak district of England for a few days as well so that will fill the time out. Now we just have to get really fit and harden up our feet as seemingly blisters are the bane of the pilgrims' lives.

I ate dinner at home tonight, yay! I had a bean/pepper chili, pretty yummy, with whole grain bread. I ate really well today...my big yay for today was the donuts at work. Someone brought in donuts for our parent teacher conferences today, and I found a small glazed donut, cut it in half, and ate half of it. I would normally have picked the biggest, gooiest donut I could find, but I really wanted to make a healthy choice!!

Tomorrow, my 15 minutes will be spent in my kitchen...very messy right now!

I'm getting back on track and I'm happy about that!

Wow! Sandy- big plans for your trip. Bet you are glad you are already working on the fitness with your Spark routines! Be sure to take lots of pics to put on your page - for us "armchair" travelers emoticon I took a quick peek at a website for this-there were several times available. Have you settled on a date?
As for this week's stuff - made my working copy for the x-stitch and went to sleep earlier than usual- the previous night was not a good one. Glad I felt much more rested when I got up today.

We will have to walk about 23 klms a day for five days so you can see why we have to go into training. It is across northern Spain, so I think it will be quite hilly too. It's quite a challenge!

Yes, we will be going to Spain to do the walk. We are hoping to do the part in France either by car or as a tour - not sure yet. That's one of the things I have to do today is to get the arrangement set in concrete so that the goal has to be reached.

Our program for this week is to do about 5 klms every day for six days then have a rest day before putting our kilometres up a bit.

Every thing in the house still needs to be done so I will stick my zoning which seems to keep the house in good condition and isn't a strain.

This week is all at ups and downs with four wheel drives and walks. We are beginning training for our pilgrimage walk next year this week so that will be fitted into the normal daily activities.

Katty our son sailed through the Panama Canal yesterday so I was thinking of you as I watched the web cams. What an amazing world we live in when you can watch something happening across the world in real time.

My tracking always goes by the wayside over the weekend! And so does my water consumption! Both areas are bad news to reaching my goals. So I need to continue with the 8 cups of water, tracking my food and working on the cross stitch. I am going to make a "working copy" so I can use a highlighter to note wat is done. I will also say I am aiming for 30 min each day on this project. I would also like to get the missions for the day done.

I am continuing with the same list because I accomplished some things some days this week, but I want to continue to improve on my list.

1. Go to bed at 10:30...I have later work days this week due to holidays and conferences...weird schedule, so I'm adjusting my bedtime just for this week so I don't get too much sleep!

2. Drink 8 cups of water...I actually did this three days last week! But, it is so important so I plan on keeping up on this one.

3. Eat dinner at home...done for tonight...leftovers in the fridge for tomorrow night!
Wednesday, we will be eating at Applebee's because it is free for veterans that day (and my husband is a vet) so he wanted to go...I will work on making healthy choices while there.

We sat down and planned out holiday things this evening...planned our decorating and baking and shopping and xmas cards, etc. Made my mom and his commit to dates and times for holidays. I love that my husband likes to do the fun holiday stuff with me!

I am trying to let things go...sooo hard but I'm doing it. Allowing my scrapbooking, which I haven't touched since summer, to be moved back into the garage while I take on school and work and family all at once!

Enjoy your week all!

Yesterday we traveled, and today we will be up north again. This morning I got in my yoga. I missed yesterday because I had to get to a 7:30 appointment at the hospital. Today I want to make a list of everything I have to do to make the house ready for our DS to house-sit while we visit friends in Zichron Yaacov for Shabbat. I can do this!

If not now, when?

I emptied out two boxes tonight and straightened out the garage so I could have better storage. I also identified a few things to go to the local charity drive.

DD is not here right now. So a ggod time to work on her grades. Will go to the house in the morning to finish painting. Sounds like a plan.

My three things.
1. Finish recording dd grades to get her report card printed
2. declutter one box a day (my mom comes in 13 days)
3. finish painting the laundry room.

1. I should be in bed at 9:30...my fave show is on 9-9:30, so I will hop in bed right after that!
2. Did not drink 8 cups today...maybe two...and four cups of milk; love my milk!!
3. I ate dinner at home!!! Yay!!! I have not had dinner that I made for my family in over a week...whether I went out to eat, ordered in, hit the drive-thru, or ate at a family member's house. I planned a meal last night, put it in the crock pot and made cornbread to go with it today. My little girl loved it, too! I was sooo proud of myself.

I feel really dumb, because I went to work and made dinner for my family, and while that's all I've done today, I'm feeling as though I conquered big time. I'm even feeling entitled to the couch I'm planning on curling up on shortly.

For tomorrow, I have a lunch premade in the fridge. I hope to get up early enough to make breakfast before I leave, and to focus more on my water consumption. These three things should help me cut down on calorie intake...along with my daughter telling me "No No, Mommy, No No" when I try to get in her Halloween bucket!! :)

Finally, I have been reading books by Jen Lancaster lately...she is a very funny author...and she has written a book called "Such A Pretty Fat, or why pie is not the answer: One narcissist's attempt to find out if her life makes her butt look big" hilarious look at a woman's path to weight loss!

MOnday - all beds changed and bedding washed and dried and taken in. Polished and vaccuumed rooms.
Plus spent three hours in the garden dead heading the roses and then making mulch from the tree bark that our eucalypts have spent all winter shedding. Then spread the mulch on front garden.

I had dental surgery yesterday, so for the next couple of days, I will be putting myself first. We are still very sad about losing our dog last week, and I want to mark that by collecting photos of him for a collage/poster/album (haven't decided which yet). This is important for us and for our son, because we got Alfie for him when we first adopted him -- Alfie was officially "David's dog." Of course, we all know that animals are really the responsibility of the parents, and at this point, 12 years later, David is very aware of this, but still vulnerable. So other priorities have been put aside to make way for this project.

The house things I want to do is keep the hot spots under control, and the downstairs close to company-ready. The laundry is under control today, and I can keep it that way.

I would like to get a pedicure this week, and make an appointment for physiotherapy. Beyond that, it's all good.

Have a good week, everyone!

If not now, when?

I have a weekly routine that seems to keep the house on an even keel.
Monday - the bedrooms, three, plus the toilets upstairs. Dusted or polished and vaccuumed.
Tuesday - Office, Lounge/dining room, kitchen/family room dusted or polished and vaccuumed.
Wednesday - Downstairs toilet, laundry and rumpus room, see if anything needs doing to keep clean.
Thursday - weekly shop.

I swish and swipe the upstairs sinks every day.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday just keep things tidy especially kitchen/family room which is where we tend to live mostly and with glass table tops a constant wipe is required.

Laundry is done as needed.

For me: Up at about 7am and in bed by 10pm. Shower every day, nails have been requiring daily treatment as they are cracking up. I think its the result of operation early this year. Moisturise after shower arms and legs. Face gets the treatment morning and night. Daughter is an Avon rep so keeps me in line.

This week is Melbourne Cup week so I have the added excitement of concocting a hat for a lunch that we will be attending. It's great fun and I'm not hosting so just have to take a bottle of champagne.

Have a marvellous Monday everyone.

Okay, here is my list:
1. Go to bed at 9:30 each night
2. Drink 8 cups of water each day
3. Avoid eating out this week

I sooo want to add more, but the sensible part of me says that's what I need to focus on, so I'm going to make that my main focus...will be easier since the house isn't really dirty...just needs a bit of picking up today!

Each of us will post a list of what you want to accomplish for the week (please, make it a short list so you can really feel successful at the end of the week, not frustrated! It is also about prioritising: What is it that you really NEED -not "want"- to have done at the end of the week?). Each week in November we'll start with a new list.

We will have our lists there and you can go on ticking it off or deleting or making comments, your choice. But we will also make a daily comment - this is VERY important!- about

HOW WE ARE LOOKING AFTER OURSELVES.

It is easy to forget about our own needs(rest, water, nutrition, exercise) in a hectic time. So we have to make sure we're looking after ourselves and this thread will be a reminder.

Have a great week!

4.) Yes, and here's more
