I LOVE that quote. I also see some inspiration here for me. I believe in my "library" of books I also have some college books. Time to go down and pack them up to give away. Thanks...

I reactivated my local freecycle group & I'm passing on clothing that no longer fits, but is in good condition. I just have to stay strong & not take others' possession while I get rid of mine.

HELSDOTTIR,

I CAN RELATE TOTALLY TO YOUR COLLEGE BOOKS! GREAT IDEA TO SEND THEM TO THE LIBRARY AND SPREAD THE KNOWLEDGE AROUND. LET US KNOW HOW IT WENT FOR YOU.

Sometimes it's helpful to be active in a local recycling group, like Freecycle.

When a person can get it through her/his thick skull that the universe is abundant and has everything you need, the need to hoard can become less controlling.

That can speak to one aspect of hoarding, but not to the situation where we feel an attachment to certain possessions.

Case in point. I still have college textbooks from 40+ years ago. I'll never use them again, probably nobody else could either, because they would be out of date. Yet, disposing of them feels like cutting away a piece of me...as though by getting rid of college books would mean I never went to college. Now, isn't that ridiculous?

When I say it like that, and realize what the hang-up is...ok...think I'll box up about 20 of them and donate to local library.

that way, I won't be "losing" my college experience, I'll just be spreading it around. right?????

HELSDOTTIR, thanks for sharing the quote! Thinking about our abundance is a great idea!

I have the following quote on my SparkPage:

"The more you have, the more youre occupied; the less you have, the more free you are."
-- Mother Teresa

This one reminds me how much time I spend taking care of my things or working around my things, how much having so many things wastes my time when I can't find what I want in the clutter.

I keep hoping it will inspire me, but so far the procrastination monster has been winning most days.

I was inspired to create this topic by a quote from a friend.
‎"When our desire is to give instead of get, our core belief is that we have so much abundance, we can afford to give it away. The subconscious mind takes its clue from our core beliefs, and brilliantly manufactures situations that reflect them. Our willingness to give directs the universe to give to us." ~Marriane Williamson

Perhaps for some of us replacing our fears/feelings of deprivation with a mindset of abundance might help us in releasing our clutter and cleaning out our hoards.

Perhaps some of you can share thoughts or quotes that help you or might help others on this team.
