Well, it's two days away from the end of March and it's been a real up and down month looking at the stats. But I am feeling more determined than ever. Even though I had a rough weekend with overeating on Saturday, I am going to keep trying because I did it last year--got down to 126 and stayed there--and I CAN do it again!

Once again I am back up to 131.4. I had a lot of trouble with IBS this past week but the past couple of days it seems to have calmed down. Hope that translates into good scale news!!

I was rather disappointed with my weigh in this morning. Despite seeing 129.8 for two days--Thursday and Friday--last week, I weighed 131.0 this morning. I know that although I have stayed within the calorie range, my food choices have been very poor. Way too high on fat % and too low on protein %. So I will focus on that this week and see what happens.

It has taken me awhile to get tothis, but I am here, March 2 ain't that bad.

I weighed in yesterday at 181. Not a weigher, I reluctantly did this because I am feeling super fit. I've been doing a great job, so I don't like the scale to detract.

March goals: Continue my exercise streak (100 days)
Tweak the schedule to :cardio, lower body, uppper body repeat.
Clean up my diet. Watch sodim and sugar, and log it in!

Notes on week 1: bad cold and no appetite.
Food: Caloric intake less than 1000 most days, sometimes less than 600, but lots of water, ginger-cinnamon citrus tea and neo citran.
Exercise: took 1 day off to stay in bed, alternated cardio and strength daily. 1 hour treadmill cardio programs took 1.5 hours (only tracked 1 hour) due to having to stop to blow nose, clear chest and get breath back.
Energy levels low, but determination HIGH!!

Notes on week 2: HUNGRY. I've been eating well but for some reason my appetite has increased. Cold is still with me, not as severe just nasal drip and wet coughing.
Exercise: alternating strength training one day and cardio on the other. Core daily.
Energy levels on the upswing - determination just as high as when we started.

Notes on week 3: Eating pattern back to normal. Not overly hungry, no lack of appetite either: 1000-1400 cals daily.
Exercise: Outside spring clean-up; raking and burning my and my neighbour's lawns, unwinterize pond, deadhead, rake and tweak all gardens (one large one left for today) so my regular cardio and strength were put aside in favor of outdoor activity. While the heartrate does not go as high as it would when I do step aerobics or treadmill, the benefits of complete body action and strength is a good compromise and it was such a nice week to get it done. Chest cold almost gone, just a little coughing on occasion when I overexert.
Energy levels high, must be the fresh air and nice weather!

Notes on week 4:Eating very healthy, lots of salads and grilled foods thanks to warmer weather. Had small piece of strawberry shortcake Saturday, only dessert all month.
Exercise - sporadic indoor routine, mostly outdoors gardening and yardwork.
The scale did not show much of a weight loss but the numbers for the fat % decreased 2 full percentage points while hydration increased 4 percentage points. I consider that a huge win!

End of challenge analysis:
Did not lose as much weight as I wanted BUT am very pleased overall with progress. Energy levels high, fitness improving and measurements creeping downward and clothes are becoming looser still. So is the scale the friend or monster?
One major accomplishment on my Challenge was the completion of my Pharmacy Assistant course. Now to finish 2.5 credits required for GED, but I signed up for another course to compliment my Pharmacy Assistant, so that will take priority when it arrives.
Overall, I feel the goals I achieved are a big accomplishment and I that I was successful on this challenge.

Now, I may be one of those who don't weigh each week. I've been really depressed about the scales not moving although my clothes get looser, measurements creep downward and energy & fitness levels increase.

MARCH Update - I met my goal for the 5K and my time was better than I ever thought it would be so I am very proud of that. I did not reach my weight goal this month and there were two contributing factors: too much birthday overindulgence and hurting my ankle curtailed my running workouts for the last week. Blah -

March Determination Challenge!

Remember me asking ya'll to start thinking about your March goals last week?

Well, this is why!

Ok, its time to get serious, at least for me it is, so this is going to be our team challenge for March 2010!

This challenge will begin on March 1, 2010 and run through Mach 31, 2010!

To get started in this challenge please:

1.) Set your Determination goals for March, and place them on your Sparkpage! (See my Sparkpage for an example.)

2.) Post your information in this thread; look at my reply for an example. You will edit this weekly instead of creating a new thread!

You will weigh in on Mondays for this challenge, I know some team members are on a no-scale challenge, if this applies to you, please at least post a starting weight on March 1, and an ending weight on March 31. I understand that you do not want to be a slave to the scale, so we are NOT requiring weekly weigh-ins.

When posting your weekly weight (for those that will) you can also post your BMI, which can be calculated at www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/ , this is just another tool to see how you are doing.

It is encouraged that each participate go to other team member pages and look at their goals for this challenge and help keep them accountable by either posting on their sparkpage, or on the daily chat thread!

The best way to make this challenge work for you is to set your goal(s) and post them everywhere! Make a commitment to yourself to complete this challenge! No giving up!

Visualize yourself completing this challenge; how you will feel once you complete it!

If you havent already, add your location to the team map, add the team goals.

Make sure that you have an exercise plan, and while you are planning, plan your meals be prepared anything!

Always remember that we are all DETERMINED to meet our goals, and we will help each other be ACCOUNTABLE for reaching those goals!
