2. Make music - Sound and light show at Montreal Notre Dame Cathedral - The soundtrack features an original orchestral composition, performed by 32 musicians, 20 choirs and the Basilica’s organ.
3. Get active - very active day, started with public transit bike ride (30min) to Tai Chi (60min) and back (30min)followed by a Strength Training workout (45min) and a nice long stretch (15min) at the university gym with DS

barn chores, walk Ollie and dogs, tidy up kitchen, check out a chaos situation involving bro and come up with some solutions, lunch at mall with friends (I brought the lunch for everyone), home-cooked dinner, catch up with Spark after being away most of the day yesterday

Ollie is happy to be back on the farm again - wheel barrow rides, walks in the country...

My to-do list of 3 for today
- laundry, all of it washed, sun-dried, folded and put away
- trip planning, print tickets, make plans of what to do next week when I go to visit my son in Montreal
- meet my fitness workout goals, row, hike, stretch
Also going to the doctor to get a podiatrist referral for corns in my foot and for my bro with him to review his blood and renew his prescription for hypothyroidism

2. Make music - listened to Metallica 'Don't Tread on Me" on YouTube because on the news was a story about a hiker meeting a cougar and scaring it off by playing that Metallica really loud,

3. Get active - walk, run, hike and row

5. Reflect - busy day - life is good

lunch was tortellini with tomato sauce, green salad with tuna
supper was rice with bits of left-over roast, and a south western salad, also leftover
I love, love, love south western salad :)

My nephew and two of his friends and sister came to the farm to pick blackberries and stayed for lunch. The two friends were vegans, that was a bit of a challenge what to make for them, I made a corn, black bean, tomato, bell pepper, cilantro, red and sweet onion salad plus the rest of us also had a roast and fresh baked buns (which had milk in the recipe, so the vegans couldn't have them). I love young people. My sister's and my kids are between 25 and 40, so are independent and charmingly still like to be connected to the older generation ( that would be me ) and spend time with us

Supper will be left-overs of rice, gnocchi, green salad, not sure of the protein yet

Aug 4 - Sunday

1. Do tasks - no tasks on Sunday, but did do evening barn chores

2. Make music - no music today

3. Get active - crazy wonderful self-indulgent active day - skateboarded, cycled, did an ST workout at the Leisure centre followed by a session on the rowing machine, then a foam roll for my calves and IT band, then a 45 minute run that included 15 sets of outdoors stairs, then the hot tub to stretch the hamstrings, 5 laps in the pool, cycled home - I am a cardio junkie and I fit in an ST and two stretches today, ticked all the workout boxes. I didn't do intense workouts, puttered along from one to the next, started at 10:30 am after brunch with DH and got home at 7pm

4. Read - none today

5. Reflect - life is good, and I am ready to start Day 1 of the 100-day Challenge tomorrow.

- put away green beans (my neighbour gave me a big bag from her garden) and apples

- complete gathering recycling and put in car for drop-off at the recycling centre tomorrow

- tasks of the day --- three things I want to spend at least 30 minutes on
- clean the fridge
- sort the recycling
- tidy the kitchen counters

Thursday -- August 1

1. Do tasks - morning and evening barn chores, some laundry done and hung on the line, grocery shopping done after Tai Chi, caught up on some of the kitchen counter clutter. Lunch at mall with bro and friends - we had taco salad of taco seasoned beef on lettuce with tomatoes, avocado and cheese and hint of jalapeno taco chips, and some home baked rolls, supper was lettuce, tomatoes, seasoned beef left over from lunch and rice, and had fresh blackberries off the bush :) Tomorrow afternoon hopefully will catch up with the homekeeping tasks.

2. Make music - popular music on the radio driving to and from Tai Chi and grocery shopping

3. Get active - walked with neighbour and our dogs, Tai Chi, rowing machine workout

4. Read - almost finished 1984, but I keep rereading parts that I find interesting

5. Reflect - busy day today, and away from home from 9am to 6 pm

Wednesday -- July 31

1. Do tasks - morning barn chores, some of morning routine, volunteered at teen shelter -- lunch was spaghetti with ragout, a green salad, supper, salmon, risotto, green beans - plus I ate some fresh blackberries
2. Make music - none today
3. Get active - sawdust shovelling to bed cow stalls, walk with bro and friend, 2-hour hike with friend
4. Read - 1984 15 minutes just to meet the checklist
5. Reflect - I feel behind on a number of scheduled tasks

Tuesday July 30

1. Do tasks: laundry, part of morning routine - lunch was quinoa salad with grape tomatoes, cucmbers, red onion, mild banana pepper, feta cheese at home - dinner was at a restaurant with DD and my niece for their July birthdays, DH and I treated them and we had a mushroom/pesto pizza appetizer followed by shared dishes of risotto, arctic char, roasted cauliflower, roasted bone marrow, spaghetti in duck ragu with crispy sage
2. Make music - local radio station pop music in the car
3. Get active - morning hike 2 hours
4. Read - 1984
5. Reflect - life is very good - thankful for family time with interesting and warm-connected family

Monday July 29


1. Do tasks - did laundry, did some morning routine, didn't do as much as I had planned and no barn chores today -- lunch was pasta, broccoli, left-over pork roast, supper was home-made gnocchi, grilled chicken and green salad -- plus I ate some fresh blackberries

2. Make music - listened to classical music on the satellite-tv station

3. Get active - walked for 2 hours with my BFF, then later walked 20 minutes with my bro

4. Read - 1984

5. Reflect - life is good, I shouldn't have lost time playing computer games for too long today


Good day for hanging out laundry, it looks like it wants to fly away heehee

Sunday - July 28

1. Do tasks - Sundays we go for brunch and tonight for supper I am making grilled polenta with cheese and ham and also a salad of greens from my garden for DH and for myself I made quinoa salad including garden greens, goat cheese, chick peas, cucumber, red onions, mild banana pepper, celery, pine nuts, pumpkin seeds and dried cranberries. I had a snack of blackberries fresh off the bush earlier today.
DD's weekend off, did morning, afternoon and evening barn chores
A new calf born yesterday, I fed her milk from a bottle today

3. Get active - rowing machine workout, barn chores, gardening

5. Reflect - oldest DD came to visit, we plan to go to Vancouver to celebrate her birthday on Tuesday - life is very good

Made lasagna and kale salad for lunch and supper was quinoa with salmon, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, mild banana peppers, red onion all mixed together with a balsamic vinegar and mustard dressing

1. Do tasks - Last day of haying, I did some tractor work raking the hay into rows. DD baled the hay and DH picked up the bales with the bale wagon and put them in the barn. Only did about half of my housekeeping chores

July 22 - Monday

A busy productive day today

1. Do tasks - lots of morning errands done, haying day so DH and DD in the field and I did barn chores in the afternoon and evening, good supper, bike tour of the hayed fields with Frida

2. Make music - listened to car radio, satellite radio and youtube music videos ... I usually don't listen to this much music, the "Pull yourself back up" day 96 got me actively seeking out music

3. Get active- Morning walk with BFF, later morning walk with bro and friend, rowing machine, bike ride

4. Read :)
5. Reflect :) life is good

For July 21 - Sunday

1. Do tasks - Sunday so I don't do a lot, but I did do the minimum morning routine and made supper and did the evening barn chores
2. Make music - listened to the radio on the way to and back from the beach
3. Get active - rode my bike for 45 minutes checking out the length of the beach and looking for kite surfing and paddle boarding rental spots - I haven't been to this beach for more than 10 years - paddle boarded for 1 hour
4. Read - yes
5. Reflect - yes


Yesterday's report - July 20 Saturday

1. Do tasks - morning housekeeping, all the laundry done, every stitch, and sundried on the clothes line, nutritious home-cooked meals, some blackberry trimming, some blackberry picking, dishes all done at the end of the day, still working on a more complete task routines

Barn chores, morning run with Frida and Denver (DDs dogs), walk and ST with my fitness group, grocery shopping, 4 hours planned projects work after lunch, evening routine, housekeeping wrap up, plan tomorrow, read, go to bed at 10
2. Make music
3. Get active run, walk, ST, row
Sounds like a lot, run and ST are the big workouts, rowing is only 15 minutes that I am trying to make a daily habit, walking is easy but something I do with my brother because he is just starting to do regular exercise
