Day 4, Boundaries

NARROW ROAD:
1. Sticking to meal plan precisely
2. Meeting calorie target for the day
3. Not eating at social events, if nothing to eat
4. Do planned workout schedule


WIDE ROAD:
1. Sticking to food list
2. Not worrying about calories, but being low carb
3 Eating at social events what's offered
4. Doing some exercise for at least 5 to 10 minutes

Day 3, Do is anyway

I usually don't FEEL like working out. With my diabetes I've been experiencing dizziness, fatigue, and just not feeling "right" most of the time. Yet, when you have diabetes, you NEED to exercise. It's hard to workout when you don't feel well, BUT I have too do it anyway.

No matter how I feel, I need to exercise!

No matter how I feel, I'm going to eat according to my meal plan for my diabetes. I need to reverse my diabetes now before it may be too late as I age!

Day 2, Interested or Committed
As a diabetic, my eating has caused serious damage to my body. Type 2 diabetes is a lifestyle disease of overeating that my body could handle. I'm committed to reversing the damage that I've done to my body so that I can serve my Lord to my full capacity. I will choose to eat to reverse the damage I've caused with diabetes as much as possible so I can be my best for my family and for my God.

I am the temple of the living God and of the Holy Ghost, and training and sticking to my eating boundaries are the gifts I give of love in return.

I'm definitely COMMITTED!

Day 1, March 30th
I used to be that way, but now I'm different!

I used to have problems getting on track with my eating plan, but now I renew my mind with scripture and responses for sabotaging thoughts that lead me to eat compulsively!

I used to give in to every indulgence I wanted, but now I stop and think of WHY I need to get healthy and pray to the Lord for strength to overcome temptations.

I used to "forget" I am diabetic , but now I purposed in my heart that I need to eat to reverse the damage that I've done.

I used to be lazy with exercise, but now I train specific strength goals for my heath and overall well being.

I used to give up quickly on my goals, but now I am determined to meet them before I'm 47 and Jim has graduated from school.

Ok, restart here. I was focusing on something else, life happened. I'm restarting, but I have an entire new focus as I got my kettlebells back and I can start my training again!!

Very happy and very excited for a complete change on my fitness goals.

I got fitness goals again!! Plus, I've completely changed perspective regarding fitness: I'm training, not working out towards specific fitness goals for strength in order to FEEL BETTER, gain muscle, reverse diabetes, and have NO physical limits (within reason of course).

So here I go again, emoticon starts Thursday!!

I really need to focus on food being fuel as opposed to me needing to desire eat and feed my need to indulge!! Food is to fuel so I can perform my best for my family and the work God has given me!

I actually prefer to eat less throughout the day. I research journals on aging and fasting and spreading out meals reduces markers for aging and especially Insulin Growth Like Factor (IGF-1) that reduces cancer growth. Type 2 diabetes accelerates aging, and many diabetics end up with cancer. In a nut shell, it's all connected. So, I'm focusing on health not just weight loss to reverse as much as possible the damage I've done!

I am so happy to hear that - brilliant! I can so identify with you about (a) finding a plan that works for you and (b) affording the plan! I really enjoyed eating raw vegan foods a couple of years' ago, but I simply couldn't afford to buy the food I needed for it.

I really hope you find the support you need here - I keep well away from places on Spark People where people are pushing their own opinions about diet. There are quite a few different diet plans going on here, and you will see people posting about them - but I regularly remind people that what works for one person, doesn't work for another - and we have to find what works for us personally.

Are you doing the Blood Sugar diet (I see it in your signature)? that's a really helpful plan to follow - can only do you good. Let us know how you're doing.

Day 8 and 9
Ok, I FINALLY have a plan I can live with long term that will change with me. Plus, I actually have to be able to afford my plan.

Honestly, I get support here at SP and sometimes it's not so supportive. What I haven't liked is when people shove their plan at you and expect to follow their advice. That's really the only kind of support I don't want. I actually WANT family, friends, and people at SP to say "Is that on your diet plan and should you be eating that".

I think I've found the best support teams for me too here at SP.

Please don't think you have to keep up to a schedule with your reports. You can do it one at a time when it fits into your day. I started my 100 DWL June 1, and am going at my own pace, Day 88 today.

Great way to think of it - When I have a choice, I'll just make the best choices possible.

It takes time to train yourself to accept changes in how you eat, but it gets easier.

DAY 5 and 6:
This journal is pretty much my notebook. I do have another notebook, but I'm going to write in this one more since I have easy access.

Church and School functions ate my bugged l biggest challenges with food. Part of my plan though is "allowing" instances where I can't always control my food. At the school Fall Fling, dinner was served, and it was a sandwich, potato salad, chips, and cookies. I only had one cookie instead of 3. I allowed myself to eat what was served. That's part of my plan, eating what's served. When I have a choice, I'll just make the best choices possible for my health's sake with diabetes.

I've told people what I'm doing and that I limit my carbs, so my friends help me out with it.

Great plan. I like a high fiber diet - popcorn on occasion. Legumes, Fiber One cereal and apples too.

Day 4 Boundaries
LOVE the ideas for boundaries! It's in another weight loss book I'm reading.

As a type 2 diabetic, I NEED to be strict!!!
My main boundaries are eating low carb or ketogenic. No sweets or other gains, except popcorn on occasion. Legumes, Fiber One cereal and apples are my main carbs besides veggies. As I lose weight and become more insulin sensitive, I will broaden my carbs to oats and brown rice. Only VERY special occasions will I allow myself off plan until I get healthier.

Calories are in the ranges of 500-800 on a fasting day and up to 2000 on a non-fasting day. Following ADF or 4:3.

Goals are to:
Reduce markers for cardiovascular disease
Reverse type 2 diabetes
Lower IGF-1

Day 3, Do it anyway!

The major thing for me is to stick to my low carb food list AND very low calorie limits. I don't always like to stick to these 2 factors, but I need to for my type 2 diabetes!

I also need to walk and ST whether I feel like it or not! I NEED to do this and I AM COMMITTED!!
