Day 91, 100 days Obesity is a condition

Don't stop now Just do one more day.

Obesity is a condition-- I never thought of it as a condition I did think of it for those who were heavier than me I had control as I never let myself get 300 plus pounds I came close 297. Years ago you did not hear of it as a condition or disease.

But it does lead to prediabetes and type 2 diabetes, cancer, heart disease and so many other.

I know I have to stay on my lifestyle change as if I don't I will gain all the weight back and more. That is why those quick short term "diets" don't work as yes you lose the weight but it doesn't show you the ways to maintain it. You end up gaining the weight back and more.

Is obesity a condition??? It can be but you can make it so it doesn't become a condition by staying on your plan to the best of your ability. speaking of vacations I actually lose on them.
Not sure what scale will say today as I had a couple of mishaps this week.

I agree Obesity is results of the many bad eating habits and non fitness I had in my life over the years. Obesity or overweight can be damaging to your health to your self confidence it changes so many things as does losing weight does too. Those charts should be changed as I believe obese or overweight is how you feel in your body. Not some magic number the doctors used.

But I know I can fall into being obese overweight if I don't keep stay on my healthy lifestyle change and yes if i stray get right back at it. I am not going to be perfect but I will work at doing the best i can each and every day. vacation or not stress or not I will succeed.

Wow 90 days all complete Only 10 more to make the 100

Day 90 - Live As If

This brings me back to retreat so I will use that word instead of what I wrote yesterday as I wrote all the things I already am. the things I wanted to add can not be done today as I will be at work.

The word I am going to use is Fantastic and positive So I am Fantastic I am Awesome I am going to believe I am Fantastic and positive and about having a successful day.

Day 89, 100 days At my Best!

Yesterday I could of used this lesson as I had a setback,

I am at my Best when I am:

Happy and content
Healthy
Smiling
Loving to my family
Attending church
Making good Exchange choices
Cooking New recipes
Mindset and strong
Generous
Encouraging
Inspirational
Brave.
Supportive
helpful
Getting my steps in even on non work days.
Feeling positive
Making healthy choices oh there are so many funny how you keep thinking of the many good qualities once you start writing them down.

I do want to add some things to the list over time.

like getting some weight lifting or other exercise in
being organized
having less and less off plan days
Being assertive
having less days of making not so good choices.
Getting exercise in


I am Happier, fit, healthy and stronger Each and every day.

: Day 88, 100 days I do care!

I care! I been working my exchange plan for approx 80 days. I did not get serious about it till day 5 or 7. But now that I been caring what exchanges I can and cant have it has been working.

Yes when I end the day with a exchange or two more it is either stress or needing to drink more water. I think some of these lessons could be earlier in the book.

I care enough to follow my plan. I care enough to work out the reasons why I want more to eat. I care enough to make my plan work.

I think the difference is my eating plan isn't a diet. It is a new way of life. a healthy lifestyle change and that is why I care enough to keep on and to reach my goal.

I plan to keep on caring about me and my new lifestyle which is healthy is right for me. It just took me a while to learn it and start using it.

Day 87, 100 days Old habits

I have many old habits that went out with new healthy habits. I do always eat a breakfast mostly oatmeal but my old breakfast consisted of 2-3 eggs plus more protein of sausage or bacon and toast with jelly and butter on it. yuck now I wonder how I ate so much.

I still drink coffee but now I my new habit is a cup of tea in the morning If i have eggs or pancakes I watch the portions or exchanges.

I ate at the computer or reclinder now a fairly new habit is eating at table even if I am the only one. I try to make it attractive. like flowers or a favorite thing from retreat.

Snacks well used to be continuously- candy bars, rolls, sandwich you name it i ate it. Now I don't crave them since i've been eating healthy. If i find myself getting hungry If i have some exchanges left I have a apple or if a carb some popcorn or crackers.

If I fall into a old habit I forgive myself and get right back on. some of the new healthy habits takes time to stick the more time with the new habit the old one will not be as handy. I still have to watch it as old habits are always there to jump right back in and it doesn't take long to be back into it. but look at the time frame I was doing the old habit. new habit not as long that is why I always have to be on my toes on guard not to let those old habits in.

Day 86, 100 days Minimize the damage

Journaling your food helps with those unexpected times. You know what left .

If you decide to have a dessert share it. when I took my son out for his birthday. I ate healthy. the steak was overdone so did not eat it but we ordered a dessert and i took a few bites and let him have the rest. or yesterday when I was out and about we ended up at subway and I did not just want a salad so just traded my meals ate my supper for lunch and ate my supper for lunch.

at holidays I try to watch the portions and some desserts just don't interest me anymore others i avoid as they are my trigger foods and i don't want to go where i used to be.

if I happen to eat more exchanges than I am allowed I charted it and count it and then I move on. after all I am human. I am not going to be perfect I will just be the best I can be. Tomorrow is a new day to begin again. I don't cut my next day I just work at having all my exchanges in. I may begin walking or doing a extra physical activity or mow lawn. There are a ton of active things that need to be done around my house.

Day 85, 100 days Let it go

The books idea is great. 1. Choose a specific item, person, or situation that makes you feel angry, frustrated, hurt, or sad. In your notebook describe this in detail.

2. Mentally or with a piece of paper, place this issue into the palm of your hand. Hold it for a specific length of time, and then let it go. If necessary, do this several times in order to release the feeling.

Although, I have lots of frustrated situations makes it stressful. I have learned over the years esp. since doing the book not to keep it in like I used to. Holding a grudge was a known thing for me in my younger years. and boy did my Dad make me angry. I am told I am just like my dad. boy that made me mad. too. but in reality we both like to have the last word in and be right. I used to think I was alway right as a child. LOL . anyways I learned to let my Dad say what he wanted it made him happy and we argue less. if I did not agree with him I could still do what I needed to do. boy some things he was correct and I followed his guidance. I sure do miss him.

Now since the book instead of resorting to eating or not eating like i used to I now relay on sharing in a blog or with a friend. if out of head then I feel better. but if I don't have access to do those things i will try the paper or mental method as suggested.

Life is short and we have to live our life as full as we can and let bygone stay in the past. I am letting all the frustration, anger, not fair, disruptions or whatever is bothersome and it will stay in t he past.

as far as the credit cards mentioned in other posts- that happen to me thru divorce and also a x boyfriend too but i build it payed more than the minimum and now I have good credit. it takes time

Day 84, 100 days The expectation square

I wasn't sure how to respond to this lesson. I had to read some of the others.

I know I don't expect a lot from myself. that one I need to widen. but I do expect more from others than I should. as it not my problem. like when at store and kids crying or breaking things and the parents keep on shopping. But I am not responsible for them. My kids are grown so I worry about them but I don't have to be responsible for them.

But I am going to make exceptions for me wider. I am going work on getting this house organized. I am going to work on getting started with my fitness. I guess on my lifestyle change I expect me not to be perfect but to do the best I can. some days I get them all some days i miss a few or go over. but it not the end, tomorrow is a brand new day to get it done.

Also my expectations to finish the book. I only tried 2 other times and made it to day7 or 10 this is farthest i've been and I expect to finish it.

Day 83, 100 days No more deprivation

Going to a birthday party it depends whose ii is. if one of my sons I may allow it but small piece and accountable. But others easy to resist. At work they had cake for someone leaving it dont even interest me.


Do I deprive myself of certain foods. Yes but I really don't consider it depriving I either save it for another time when I can account for it. Some things don't interest me any more either.

I love your quote hope you don't mind me using it.
"This is how all successful weight maintainers eat. I have a choice: I can be over-whelmed by the unfairness, or I can accept that this is what I have to do if I want permanent weight loss."

Being overweight has deprive me of many things and got me teased, bullied, beat up and shy and withdrawn.

I have deprive myself of a healthy version of me fitting into rides, horse back riding , enjoying fitness activities, and being active with my kids. being assertive and good self esteem and so many reasons to not have the cake.

I also can eat the cake just in modation if I choose to without it ruining my journey to my goal weight. I am creating a new lifestyle a new way of eating and cake or candy isn't going to stop me. My desires for sweets have been diminishing as the days being going by.

What is important My healthy way of life or the moment of enjoying the food. the healthy lifestyle lasts longer than that taste of cake or candy.

I am sticking to the healthy lifestyle the sweets will be around when i decised to treat myself

I find not having those trigger foods in the house helps. I find if I need something whether emotional or nuts I will look at my exchanges I ate thus far and see if i can have something. if so I will grab nuts first I weigh them. or maybe some snack crackers or a fruit depending on what I have left.

The book is helping put those emotional or stress on the back burner to work my plan and deal with stress on day at a time. do what you can and if nothing then leave it on the back burner.

If I cant leave stress or it is stopping me from doing what I need to

I will call or email or message a friend

Tackle the spare room or other rooms that need to be organized

Get outdoors either a walk, bike ride, gardening, shopping as long as not in a food place

even writing a letter or in your journal

Day 81, 100 days Unhook the chains

You come this far in your 100 days,,, Don't stop now. Just do one More Day and Each day after that.

I know I used to have that effect currently don't remember the reasons behind that first food chain of events of eating. But I did know I would start and said to self well you already ruined just finish the pkg or carton of what ever. Stopping for gas used to be I had to get a candy bar or two or three. Eat before getting home as did not want to share.

Since following the 100 Days and working the TOPS exchange I havent had that urge. I try to save some exchanges for those times. Yesterday I felt hunger oh boy did i want something but I did not want to go over on exchanges so i ignored it and got busy writing a letter. it went away and soon it was time for bed.

Stress I do need to find some stress relievers. One was chat with a friend. email them write a letter read a book, and one i really want to get going is go for a walk. I did chat with a friend the other day I was stressed, she helped me calm down and then i was ready to make a healthy meal which i did.

Because I am a Strong healthy happy and becoming fit Leslie I can avoid lots of those situations now. I am not perfect and most likely wont be but I can do the best of my ability with the situation, and timing .

I will stay on plan so I can reach where I want to be. this is a new lifestyle and it is now set and no turning back. I can make the unexpected work in my plan too. Positive affirmations help.

The chains in me are no longer available one day at time with the book and TOPS they been disappearing not to return.
Positivitivy and success stories do wonders.

Day 80, 100 days Get a New Title

Wow Day 80

Now this is hard as I am not sure what title I like to use.

I think I will go with healthy and strong

If I encounter a situation I will use this phase What would a healthy and strong Leslie do.

A Healthy ME (Leslie)

Not diet but a lifestyle change

Day 79, 100 days Live as a Healthy Person

I don't want to be skinny. I want to just be me. Where I feel good I am healthier, I enjoy exercising. I cant believe I used to eat all that food. sometimes I still want more but I resist because I will be healthier, happier and funner.

This fits in right with TOPS- A lifestyle change- It is not a diet.
To be healthy, fit, active, balanced and strong I need to to do the following.

Eating- Follow the Exchange plan- and keep journaling my food. Will I be perfect? No not all the time. But I will follow it as best as able as life does happen holidays come and go. But to follow my plan 80 to 100 percent of the time is goal. Each day is a new challenge to complete all the exchanges. for the most part I am getting them all in. some days I fall short or I am over.

Relationships(Friendships) I am single and I don't have a special person in my life. So my friendships are important to me. I will keep in contact with me. Most my friends don't live near me. Who knows I may make new friends the future is unknown to us.

Family- Mom and I do lots together. I would like to do things with sisters maybe in the future. I do love them dearly. Cousins I have many but rarely see them.

physical fit- I am working on this but I plan to get extra fitness in weekly in addition to my work as I get lots of steps in at work. I want to love to move more and sit less. I want to enjoy the activities that I choose to do.

Work - I am content at work for now. I never know what the future brings but for now I am happy there. it is close and they are very good to me. TOPS is great as I am an area captain something I never thought I would do speak in groups. I am doing it and loving it. It truly is a lifesaver

Fun - Right now I don't have a lot of fun. It may be due to friends living far away. But I enjoy going to chapter visits and TOPS events like SRD and IRD. Retreats are awesome. I love to travel and hope to go on another cruise maybe even a non-TOPS cruise. One place I would love to go is Europe. When I get closer friends, I would love to do fitness fun with them, go to movie or some other fun activity. I don't want to it always be out to eat.

Day 78, 100 days Ditch the Critic

I can relate to this. We all do the negative talk to ourselves. Putting positive affirmations inside our head helps.

Like that quote. "No matter what you say or do to yourself I AM a Worthwhile person."
There are so many other affirmatives or quotes than can squash the negative thoughts.
Saying I am Amazing. If someone asked how you are. Don't tell them all the bad things. Say Awesome. No matter what has gone wrong you are Awesome. Believe in yourself.









These are just a few. You need to use the affirmative that works for you. because remember You are worth it I am worth it.

Day 77, 100 days The Healing Power of Rituals


Not sure if i call it rituals
Take vitamins
AM- I have coffee- used to do tea but thinking of making it in the evening
Read emails and do the 100 day lesson
Eat breakfast, then make lunch if going to work
put on fitbit

PM
sit in reclinder
Yes I go on computer again
make supper
watch some tv in reclinder
in bed play a few games on tablet. music is always playing.

But yes I like to make a ritual of
Reading bible and drinking my tea.
Less sitting if sitting longer than 30 minutes must get up.

Some of the books ideas are good but I don't own candles. it never did interest me. but i could listen to songs, a cup of tea without the snack, there are some of the habits/rituals I could change like get a walk in. I am aiming to begin that. just not there yet. My job gives me a lot of steps. but on days off I don't get many.

Day 76, 100 days Emotional Safety

Not sure if i have a safe place or things

I do relax in reclinder but i eat there most times although I have been starting to eat at the dinning room table now. so I will work on making it a safe place.my exchange book is in my purse. My food journal is on near my reclinder. sometimes on the table. but now I been keeping my table more clear than clutter with paper. sure that's why I am eating at table now.

I guess my office. I changed rooms and am slowly working on going through boxes and plan to put photos or pictures on the wall. I used to eat there and somehow have seem to stopped that too. I have my 100 day. I guess I use the same 1 or two cups .

Cleaning up kitchen before I sit two, taking a photo of food and posting on a facebook group and charting and tracking my food before I eat helps make my kitchen off limits. I dont hear the fridge calling my name no more. rarely open it to see whats in it. I do sometimes at my mom even if I dont want anything. but I dont grab just because anymore. I usually have my tea in morning then coffee I think i will change that up and start drinking my tea in the evening before I retire for night.

But I will make my office more special so it will be my number one safe place and the reclinder is my second as I can watch the birds as i have a feeder.

Scale gave me a good number today. tomorrow at TOPS it will be official.

Yesterday was looking for the rainbow which fits in to small wins- I am thinking it more for yourself then material or the big picture.

since it is so early in morning I will list yesterday small wins.
Instead of getting garbage out since dumpster was dumped, sons helped me moved my office into the room with more light.
Went thru 2 boxes in the storage room which haven't been touched since i moved in.
Had a good healthy lunch and with exchanges left I had a large salad for supper which showed on the scale today but would of loved to have the pizza my son was having.

The TOPS exchange group is helping others as well as myself. Lost 7 weeks in row at TOPS. and as i stay on plan it makes me look forward to each weigh in.

Church today, I am reader today a win because o TOPS I wouldn't of thought of volunteering to be a reader at church. it helped me step out of my box i created for myself. We all need to step out of our comfort zone to create the small wins which lead into big wins.

We are half way thru these ten days. It is hard to believe that I accomplished 75 days

Day 74, 100 days Watch for Rainbows

This is a good one. We have a busy life and dont stop to appreciate the small things..
We need to take time to smell the roses or watch for the rainbows.

My rainbows
I appreciate my grown sons who help me when needed. I appreciate my Mom. I appreciate a job, a roof over my head. I appreciate TOPS and all the helpful field staff helping me on my way to a lifestyle change. Yes I appreciate rain to water my garden. I appreciate living in America ,I appreciate my grandson.. Yep the birds and even the rabbits even though they eat in my garden.

I had thought I had a bad day yesterday I needed to calm down and i message a friend of mine who help me calm down so I could think about making a healthy meal. Instead I made new plans. I appreciate all my far away friends and even the few close friends I have. I appreciate my sisters, and my extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins who are still living.

I appreciate this group and the book, retreat directors and TOPS as it helped me get me to where I am on my lifestyle change. The scale has been going down and I am getting closer and closer to my goal weight.

When you start writing them down there are so many rainbows in my life.

Day 73, 100 days All or nothing.


I think I used to want to be perfect in my dieting efforts. I go off so I used to say ruined today might as well make it worth it so I continue to use bad choices. sometimes until my next weigh in day.

Since day one I had some foods that were gray. but did not let it ruin the whole day. I would make the next meal healthy,

In the rest of my life I am not perfect, I still trying to get my house organized. so did get kitchen done. hoping to get some done this weekend. but now my house is more gray than black.

Some things have to have a high priority and that is where I focused on. Most times perfect. Yes I put others before me. I guess I live in mostly gray area already. I don't let not completing a project a failure. I move on.

so yes if i mess up I can get right back where I need to be. but I am not perfect but I am not going to eat something to prove i am in the gray.

Day 72, 100 days Sneak Eating

I know I ve done that so many times in the past. I still do it somewhat thinking I am sneaking when in fact there isn't noone to sneak it from. I eat alone most times as son prefers to eat alone in his room. I know it is bad habits but when I have my other son over we all eat at the table. But as a child I did so much of sneak eating. buying candy bars and eating them before I got home.

Now Eating in front of people with the food I think I am sneaking that would put a stop to it.
I know eating at Tops functions next to Kops sure make my eating different. I watch how they eat and tend to try to eat the way they do.

No one really cares if you are sneak eating except when they want ice cream and it isn't in the fridge as you finished the carton off. A trick I have been doing since moving here, I put lots of foods and esp ice cream treats in freezer out in garage instead of one in kitchen then I have to walk outdoors to retrieve it. I am only allowed one bar. If ice cream only one cone .

I will only eat foods or snacks in front of others. If at home I must go out to eat it.

Home scale is down today. need to get my steps in since day off work today.

Growing Stronger.

Day 71 - 100 DAYS "It's too hard!"

YOU COME THIS FAR IN THE 100 DAYS DON'T STOP NOW JUST DO ONE MORE DAY

I can do hard things

Yes having c sections and other surgeries the recovery was hard My pain tolerance is very high
working as a CNA was hard
surviving after a love one passes grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends was and is hard
being a caregiver was hard
Losing a parent is hard
being dependable is hard

I have done so many hards things why did i make following the exchanges so hard. why did it take me three times to become successful? Looking at the hard things I survive make this staying on play seem so simple and easier.

I CAN DO HARD THINGS INCLUDING STAYING ON MY PLAN ! ONCE I MAKE MY EXERCISE PLAN I CAN AND WILL STAY FOCUS ON IT TOO. I AM A STRONG PERSON!

I WILL SUCCEED.

Day 70, 100 days No good or bad.

I making better choices each day but learning to change the language I use will be slow as I ve been using it for years. I never thought of it being so powerful. I did make some choices that were not satisfactory in my eyes these past two weeks so the scale is being stubborn today. I also made some awesome choices too. so I know sometimes it take a bit for the scale to move. I know I need to make a choice for moving my body more esp. on days I don't work if I want the scale to move.

I notice how people say cheat and bad and good. Never did before.

My better choices are becoming more and my poorer choices are becoming fewer. I am sure there will always be choices that I feel are poorer but I can overcome them by make better choices and getting back on my plan to a healthier lifestyle change. One day it wont be a change but just a way of life.

Day 70 today onward to the next ten days. This book is changing my way of thinking, my way of doing. now if it only can help me get my body moving and get me organize I will be a happy camper.

wow tomorrow is day 70.

Day 69, 100 days No Cheating allowed

Yep I used to say I cheated but guess I haven't for a while. but I did not replace the word with I choose. Mostly I say I had a bad day.

Yes I use the word plan or lifestyle change/plan instead of diet. but still working on the fitness part instead of exercise.

I try to incorporate foods that i don't normally eat into my plan. like yesterday someone brought homemade monster cookies to work. I needed a carb yet so i only took a piece of it. and left the rest alone. I guess what i considered cheat days is when the days was foods that were not healthy and in quantity.

I will use the work I choose to eat that or put that in my plan. Food dont have the power anymore in my life.

Day 68, 100 days I had a Pause

I like this one too but do have to be careful that the pause don't last too long.
I like her example of a hike and stopping for a rest. Sometimes we need that.

Life gets in the way with celebrations and holidays. We cant deprive ourselves but we use common sense and watch our portion intake and still enjoy the food. Pauses are healthy for ourselves. I will not feel bad taking pause as long as it doesn't last too long. But if I know ahead of time I will work it into my plan as best as possible.

When I do take a pause= I like that instead of saying I blew it or I had a bad day, I will jump right back to following my plan at next meal and I don't dwell on the pauses I move forward.

I cant believe I am this far in t he book.

Day 67, 100 days Never say I blew it!

I can relate to this. I been doing that even as a TOPS member I have done it. I would not only eat one I eat the whole darn box or eat 3 candy bars instead of one. and no meeting well that gave me permission to binge for another whole week.

No More blowing in. I will say to self- Leslie, isn't that interesting? Why did I do that? Get right back to your journaling and tracking. If it not on your plan You don't need it. Figure out why and work on resolving it. No just like the book, I wouldn't keep denting a car and I don't want to keep denting me. I am repairing me to be the best I can be.

I haven't started my fitness yet but did mow lawn yesterday.
today home scale is down. I am working on keeping there for TOPS weigh in. I work this weekend so lots of steps in. but I do need to get a plan to get back to gym.

I am working on a solution to that but need to get some stressors out of the way first.

I WILL NOT SAY I BLEW IT.

A good one== Don't Even Start!!!

phases I am going to start telling myself are

Look at what you accomplished
It not worth it
It not on your plan
Imagine how gross it is even if it isn't. like ants crawling all over it
This I can use when out and about

At home I need a action plan hard to talk myself out it at home.

but will try it
You will succeed if you stay on plan
Ignore those foods calling your name they are not your friends no more
drink some water
Get outside and get walking or doing something active


I now can go to store without buying a candy bar.

Day #65 Stimulus Narrowing

I need to say NO! Not have little kids except when grandson comes over No worries about cleaning their plate. and I can say No at work I bring my lunch and I am content with that. it more when home after supper or when out and about or a get together with family or friends where it is hard to say NO.

If I want to succeed I need to say NO
I do need to get back to planning my meals and snacks again.
If I want to succeed to my goal I need to say NO to all foods not on my menu venue for the day.

Day 64, 100 days Instant tools for triggers

the pickles seems like it may work for a instant tool, as well as removing myself from the food.
brushing teeth is good for home but usually the food situations happen out. I don't chew gum so that wont work. But putting the tools together and work on the instead of will work better.


home made sweets is my downfall so not baking is usually what i do but for pot luck i made some bread I should of left it there instead of bring home. so that will be my choice for next time. I do need to find healthy carbs to eat at my snack time too.


I need to stick with my plan and quit falling off. If it doesn't fit into my exchange don't eat it.

Day 63, 100 days Buffers!

I have lots of foods I used to love to eat. One thing living with only one or two puts a damper on how much junk food is around. My foods that are hard to resists are home baked so I rarely bake unless bringing to a pot luck or like the holidays and family get togethers. I used to love to eat candy bars so that isn't brought into the house. I dont have the urge to buy them for a while.. Diet pop is drank only occasionally and I don't keep them in the house. My son brings home chips sometimes but since they rarely in house I dont have the temptation to eat them. If i do want some with a meal, I measure them out and chart it. Store bought sweets don't bother me except it getting old and having to throw it. sometimes i used to eat things so I would not have to throw it out. bad bad bad NO MORE!!!!!

Ice cream that is a hard one. but vanilla I dont seem to want continuously as much as like maple nut. Peanut butter, I measure out and I can have that. If pb isnt on my plan for the day I can leave it alone.

Some things I have to hide or freeze.

Today I have to be careful as going to a pot luck. then rest of day is hectic.

Day 62, 100 days Non-food triggers

I think i have more NON-Food triggers

Other than the smell of the certain foods.Stress is a big one. But working my plan these past days have helped a lot. when I was a child I would not eat I did the opposite but as I grew into an adult then food became the trigger. and the time of the month sure was emotional. thank goodness I dont have that anymore.

Currently if I dont have exchanges left I dont eat it. Have I done it yes but I am right back on plan the next moment. and it still gets charted.

Well today is my day to start exercising. so will start slow so will either do a bike ride with grandson or I will do chair exercises. I need to spend more active time with him get him off the computers.

Yes a very good chapter

Yes I remember all the triggers- sometimes I have to be careful

Home made desserts and breads and just home made in general esp. when mom makes them.

wanting to order dessert some of those fancy restaurants bring a tray around with them on it
sometimes I am not hungry but i open the fridge just looking in there. sometimes I used to grab something now it seems more of a habit opening the door.

To me it not the commercial itself it more watching tv and wanting to snack while watching it.

: Day 58, 100 days Heart Hunger

Oh Yes I can relate to this. I am always opening the fridge or the cupboards even at Moms house. it not that I really want something. and if i do find something yep it makes me feel comforted and loved and less lonely or bored. but yep I feel terrible afterwards. I still look but now I don't take unless I have an exchange left.

Whats missing- Most of friends I do have live far away. my older friends just want to be in the past. I do wish I had friends that live closer to me so we could get together maybe go to a movie or go for a walk. Who knows one day I may make a close newer friends. Bjut my sons help and we don't make food priority we all are working on getting to a healthy weight.

But I don't dwell on it. I am sticking to my plan and I will succeed. at my tops meeting I lost 2 lbs.

Saving exchanges for times like this help.

Day 56, 100 days Head Hunger?

I did get cravings for certain foods But sometimes just seeing it put it into craving it. like at the grocery store or gas station seeing the candy bars staring at you. Not sure if that is head hunger or the sight of it. sometimes I would crave foods in the fridge. I would talk myself into that it will spoil. I don't want to have to throw it away.

Most of cravings for certain foods like chips, cereal, home made foods were when they were in home. sometimes I crave a pop (diet) but I don't keep that in the house. If I want it I have to go out and get it.

But yes I have been stressed. but haven't had any cravings lately. If not on plan then I dont need it .

Or give ten minutes or take water if still want then eat portion size.

Look 55 days gone.
Day 55, 100 days Food is the consolation prize

NOT!


Yes as a child I was given a cookie for a skinned knee and did the same with my kids. Gave them birthday cakes it got richer each year like ice cream cakes. so I gave the problem of being overweight early on too. But Some of the emotional eating comes from learned someone is the stress itself.

I will have to make an instead list. so far I haven't turn to food but what if? so my instead list I will think on and include in a blog or one of the days lessons.

Does the food meat my needs. overall No. it may have for a while like a few minutes.

It isn't easy to turn food to NOT be the consolation prize. It sometimes takes time. it is a one day at a time. but working this book sure help me not to turn to food. whether I am lonely, bored. Yes we all want to be loved, appreciated comforted . A hug or pat on the back works wonders. We don't need food to make up for those emotions we are really looking for.

Even with weight loss (dieting) when I did not get results I wanted or had a bad day I would it is ruined might well enjoy the rest of day so I would consume thousands of calories I believe. It never satisfied me. Now I know It wont. Since beginning my lifestyle change I have not strayed far. and mostly was eating out and not figuring the exchange values. but I guessed. I have journaled every day.

I don't NOT make food a consolation prize!!!!!!

Day 54, 100 days Eating to feel better

Yes, I used to eat at different places at computer , in bed. Living alone or seems to be sometimes as son prefers to eat at his computer does make into bad habits. I still don't eat at the table but in the recliner.

Usually after work if I have a late shift I will proceed to make supper. If early I do either go to computer or recliner, yes sometimes I fall asleep. My job entails a lot of walking. It does take time and effort to plan my meals and prepare them. I do watch tv. but it isn't as much as use to. I don't have cable so only a few channels to watch.

I have plans to be active but I am not swaying from my start date on August 1. I am going to start out slow.

I have gone to bed early but I am not going to bed hungry. I know it isnt hunger. But I know how to figure out if hunger or not.

Being an Area Captain does keep me busy too. and have tons of things to do for the house too.

but with my new lifestyle I no longer eat just because sometimes I have to eat just to get my exchanges in. some days is harder. never thought i have a hard time getting them in . i always though it would be harder eliminating them.

Yes I could of turned to food. esp. when someone says something discouraging instead of bringing you up and not believing in you. a few months ago I would of turned to food. Now it isn't worth the time. I had many falls and ate before picking myself up. I am moving onward and upward.
Now I pick myself up and continue and don't make it harder. I believe in Me I WILL succeed.

53 days Wow. I am doing this I will complete the book this time around.

But I used to turn to it when stressed, bored or lonely. so I guess it was. I say was. I agree with you rawcookie. It makes you feel comforted and nurtured when lonely or bored and provides a shield esp when grief sets in.

This has to be a lifestyle change or it will come back. and that's what I intend to do.

Now I don't eat it if not on my allotted in my daily exchanges. So far I haven't turned back to food to comfort me. Do I still get cravings Yes but I simply don't listen no more.

Day 52, 100 days Food is an instant fix

It so much as to avoid doing tasks it more to do with eating with the tasks. watching tv eating popcorn not just during commercials. I don't need to eat while watching tv. it more of a habit.
but cooking and eating when company comes over no matter the time I dont bake unless bringing to a potluck meal as i dont want it in the house asking me to finish it off or having to throw it out.

sometimes I open the fridge not that i want anything but i used to find something now it seems to be out of habit to look in it
sometimes i used to eat as don't want to let it spoil.Now I freeze things or make other things with it.

Day 51 What is emotional eating?

When I was younger I would retreat and not eat. I thought i was punishing my parents I guess.I guess at some point it went the other way where I started eating.

I ate when stressed
I ate out of boredom
I ate out of loneliness
I ate because the food seem to be calling my name
I ate just because

Now I don't listen when it calls me as if not on my plan I don't eat it.
Do I still have stress or get bored heavens know i shouldn't be as i have plenty to do, but it not the same as having friends to talk to to go places with. I ve been shy most of life and in some aspects it is still there but being an area captain brought me out of the box.

Until I stated and continued the book I ate for all the dumb reasons

Now I eat when I am hungry
if I want it It must fit into my exchanges or i wait for tomorrow

No eating just because anymore

Stress will always be there
boredom can be fixed without food
Loneliness can be fixed by finding friends who live by. I think that may happen by getting involved in new activities

I will not eat unless it is hunger I am going to succeed

another 50 days bring it on!
