Finding Mary is moving. She made the executive decision to use the blog posts format instead. Thanks Maggie.

Day 9:
If you see me eating something that's not on my diet plan ignore it entirely.
When I'm making progress, such as losing weight give me non-food gifts or rewards.
When I'm struggling or gaining weight ignore it entirely.
When I'm making progress you can see give me non-food gifts or rewards.
When I've maintained my weight ignore the subject entirely.

I learned something about myself. I don't like attention directed right at me. I want to blend in and not stand out. But, I like surprises and little incentives.

Day 7: I got sidetracked with Easter but I'm not giving up. I not only can do this, I will do it. Next Tuesday I will go to my Weight Watchers Meeting no matter what. I can do this because I'm using a smaller plate, making good choices and want to feel terrific in the morning.

Day 6: I know I can take a break on weekends but I don't feel like doing that today. I'm still feeling energized by my magic notebook. I fasted yesterday because of Good Friday. It is the least that I can do because of all that He did for me. But, let me tell you about Holy Thursday. I came home from mass, and acted like a crazed woman. I ate almost an entire kolache (nut filled pastry) and then I started in on the chocolate covered cashews. You see, I had to do this because I was going to fast on Good Friday. It made sense to me at the time. I started 100 days before but never finished. I was on Day 6 on Super Bowl Sunday. My weight was almost the same as it is today. If only I would have stuck to the plan I would have been so close to my goal weight. But, today is not a day for regret. It is a day to start saying not just yet, maybe later, not right now, and/or I couldn't possibly.

Day 5: I did start a magic notebook today. It is a clever concept and I think it will be most helpful. You can't imagine how many notebooks I have gone thru in my life. You see, if I mess up I have to go out and buy another notebook. I like everything to be perfect with no allowances for mistakes. My magic notebook is going to be different. I'm still going to stick to the Weight Watchers Simply Filling Plan and give myself 49 points for the week. This worked for me in the past. The magic notebook will be about those cravings that I did not give into. If I do give in, I promise to make note of it in "Finding Mary."

Day 4:

Narrow Road: Staying on track and not getting too close to the edge. I'm aware of what makes me not stay the course and I won't go there. Stay away from the Danger Zone at all costs.

Wider Road: Even though I make the road wider at times I will avoid making excuses. I'm in charge and I make the final decisions.

Day 3 I'm off to see my mother-in-law this morning with Do It Anyway ringing in my ears. The last time we went to visit her, I made my husband stop at Ranchwagon. It holds a special place in my heart and on my hips. They have been in business since 1955 and they are known for their foot long hotdogs and potato pancakes. Guess What? I'm not stopping there today. I think I will pack a healthy brown bag lunch as I contemplate Do It Anyway. Wish me luck.

I woke up the morning of the second day and remembered that I did not give into the temptation of eating muffins before bed last night. We're not talking mini muffins. We're talking jumbo streusel topped muffins. I feel energized and extremely committed today.

DAY 1: April 14, 2014 Again! I can't believe it but I'm starting over again.
It is with new resolve that I say Mary used to go back to Day 1 whenever things didn't go exactly right. She was stuck at that number and did not move forward. She has learned from her mistakes and is ready to move on and eliminate things that have not worked in the past.

Mary, let's take your thoughts back to day #1- I used to....the chocolates are all gone...so now the saying goes...Mary used to buy chocolate almond bark...and Mary used to eat a whole bag of almond bark...not any more girlfriend...when you reach your goal weight then Mary can treat herself to a little bit of almond bark...I did not have the best day either today

Day 3: Do It Anyway. That's a good one. I want to start over tomorrow because I really messed up and I like everything to be perfect. I ate an entire bag of Gertrude Hawk Milk Chocolate Almond Bark. The calories I consumed were 1540. But, I've forgiven myself and I'm going to do it anyway and not wait until tomorrow. Today the temperature was in the eighties. I got out my shorts that were way too big last year. This year I could barely get them zipped. Today I'm going to remember that I signed up for the Lighten Up Lancaster challenge and put lots of steps on my pedometer. I'm not going to cave into my usual pattern of closet eating. If I "do it anyway" today I will feel so much better tomorrow.

Day 2: One of my mom's expressions when she was determined was "Come hell or high water." She didn't use the word "hell" lightly and so when I heard her say this I knew she meant business. What I was doing before has not worked. Perhaps the reason for this is the fact that I was merely interested not committed. This time is different. I'm committed with a capital C.

Day 1 (April 11, 2014)

I'm anxious to start over and feel ready for the challenge. If I stay focused I can be at my goal weight in 100 days. I have a plan. It's Weight Watchers Simply Filling. I'm also going to avoid wheat products. It seems like my worst time of day is after dinner. I used to eat anything that wasn't nailed down after dinner but now I'm different. I make a cup of tea and that is all I need. It is so good to wake up in the morning and be hungry for breakfast.

Day 6: Beginning of Level 8 on Spark People. Current Weight: 152.4. What progress can I make while at Level 8? What level will find me at my goal weight of 127? Today is Super Bowl Sunday. This ranks with Thanksgiving Day as a day when people "throw all caution to the wind" as far as eating healthy goes. My husband and I always attend a fantastic party hosted by our friends. "Not just yet; I'm going to wait a little while" is going to be my mantra tonight.

Day 4: Last night I took a break and widened the boundaries but that's okay. Today will be different.

My narrow road consists of three healthy meals a day, 8 glasses of water, and 10,000 steps on my pedometer.

My wider road consists of using up to 49 weight watchers points per week that are allowed on the Simply Filling Plan. I'm going to change that to 7 points per day because the new Simple Start Plan makes that suggestion. I won't drink all of my water and I won't log 10,000 steps on my pedometer on the days that I have decided to widen the road.

It's nice to allow myself this luxury. It will serve me well.
