a new healthy habit- i am going to start brushing in the afternoon. i dont hhave much time for at lunch, but when i take my afternoon break, i will brush then. plus it helps bust cravings for the last 2 hours of my work day.

when i overeat i have trouble sleeping, exercising or i feel tired and then i cant get other things done. so saying no to certain things actually feels better in the long run.

Knowing that what I put in my mouth, will change my brain chemistry to either make me want more or tell me that I've eaten well and don't need anything else right now till the next healthy meal!!!

I was making some excuses but i took a few actions to get around a couple of them. i was craving some stuiff but i realizes i would only feel happy for a couple minutes then would crave more later. plus i would have to do dozens of minutes of exercise to burn off the calories.

i was craving a soda. i wanted the sugar anf caffine because i was crabby and tired. i did have 1 thought - "dont let the bastards win". i was not going to let the stressors beat me. especially because it was a lot of little stupid stuff. i wanted to be stronger than that . i have goals that i want to reach and having a soda at work will not help my reach it.

Healthy living isnt just physical. it is also about mental, emotional and yes even financial wellness. People have addictions to food, drugs, shopping horading alcohol..etc

A healthy lifestyle for me means mental awareness of all the good in my life and keeping focus on the important stuff so the petty things in my day don't control my moods and behaviors. When we are not healthy in one area it can poison the others.

Champagne won tonight!

Carve out what is most important to you first, then allocate your day to others! I promise you and they will be better for this decision!!

My motivation this time is different. I'm generally healthy but when I came down with a cold I realized that I have been trying to do too much and must be stressed out again. So I happenend to be watching PBS and saw this doctor talking about micronutrients, and eating mostly vegan. He discussed a few certain foods that minimize health risks like cancer. And it struck a chord within me.

So for the past two weeks I've been eating homemade soup (3 different kinds so far); fresh salads with lots of greens that I normally don't eat or don't eat in quantitiy, with lots of seeds and raw nuts added, homemade salad dressing without sweetners or salt or oil; some fresh fruit either in the salad or right after the meal. No red meat - just some chicken in the first batch of soup. Lots of water, no rice, limited amounts of bread or crackers (100% whole wheat only); lots of beans, and some quinoa, barley & oats. All this in addiiton to my usual nutritional supplements - which are pretty well rounded. I have been staying home as much as possible and resting when not at work.

I plan to keep to this food plan at least 85% of the time, and stay away from sweets, junk food, and fried food. Limiting dead baked goods also seems like a good ideas and so far, I've had no cravings at all. I'm sure there will be times but the biggest secret seems to be making a point of buying the rights foods to have on hand, and taking the time to fix all my meals at home. If I go out, it will be for salads only, any maybe some whole wheat pasta. I'm steering clear of most cheese, too. For me at least daily is an issue anyway so why not give it up? I am planning to make some pizza at home with whole grain flour, tomato sauce, and veggies.

For me, my health is the real motivation I need, and it came down to wanting to feel great all the time, not just pass for not being sick. 1-3 colds per year (that's the average & some say 2-4) is not acceptable to me - even one per year is too much. I want to enjoy my life not spend a week or 10 days feeling lousy. Radiant Health is what I'm seeking.

Each year I lose weight during the summer, gain it during fall, winter and spring. I am a elementary school teacher, so it's clear that when I have time, I can focus on my health. My big goal this year is to bring that focus into the school year. I have lost six pounds so far. I want to lose another 16 before school begins. The next step will be to keep that off until next summer, when I will try for the other 20!

I don't want to fall into the trap of making excuses when life gets busy (as it often does) so I'm trying hard to create healthy habits I can maintain for the long haul!

"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. " - Michael Jordan
