emoticon Tue OCT 21st emoticon Birthday 152.5

I finally achieved and maintained my long sought goal weight in the first half of this year but am gaining back in the second half.

I will return here to pledge one week baby step commitments.

Thanks for staying the course, no matter what.

I'd like to make a good habit of wearing my step counter. If I see I'm close to my goal at the end of the day, it enegergizes me to try for the extra steps.

Ok, new here. My challenge emoticon is to track every day for the next week starting today. I have not been tracking and feel this may be the reason for my weight gain! Betty

The habit I want to change is no eating while watching tv or on the computer at home. I can do that for 7 days!

This is the heart of SparkPeople (one habit at a time) and I have had such a hard time getting back into tracking each day. So, I'm going to restart myself all over, for the most part, and stick to tracking all I do. Veggie eating isn't an issue for me. I find ways to pack in the veggies. Omlets are great in the am, salad and sandwich at lunch, and two veggies with dinner. When I make spagetti sauce, I saute onions, peppers, mushrooms, shredded carrots, diced zuchinni or squash and add a big can of crushed tomatoes and a small can of diced along with garlic, basil, and oregano. Don't like fruit, but trying hard to add them as my snacks.

Nothing will change if you change nothing...

Tiger, I used to weigh myself everyday to keep my self in check but then I found that if I lost weight when I thought I shouldn't, it became a self fulfilling prophecy. lol I also found the weight gains, even when expected, made me feel like what the heck?! I am going to eat what I want. So I stopped. I hope you do better with it.

How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. How do you make the long drive? One rest stop at a time. You can do it. Keep the passion!

Ha! I count corn as a starch veggie so not in the green veggie and fruit category for me. And bananas, I'm told, need be eaten only half at a time, for overall health. Too many bananas are too much potassium... or something like that.

Doing very poorly here. Hard to report to any challenge when I'm lagging so far behind in my own recovery. And with a drive for 8-10 hours pending, and my insecurity about making such a long drive, I can barely concentrate on anything outside what each day has scheduled.

Excuse? Absolutely not. Scattered fat energy? I had a child with me for days this week and she ate pizza so much, as did I , since she isn't into regular veggies, that I kept my weight quite UP.

Join the challenge!! How are you doing? One day at a time, one thing. You can do this!

I did have two servings at lunch and then a big salad (two plus servings) some corn (is it really a vegetable? or is it a starch?) And one banana. Today's total: 6 servings. Unfortunately one doesn't carry over. Day one=success.

Okay, so I am back to square one, or day one as the case should be. I only had three fruits/veggies today. How much lettuce and tomato can one put on a roast beef sub? Perhaps tomorrow will be better. How did you do?

Atta girl Shamrock! Thanks for joining with me. 20 minutes everyday for seven days. You can do it.

My day one was successful, as I had spinach and mushroom spaghetti for dinner and a banana after I ran. Whew. 1 down six to go.

I read this and instantly knew what I needed to do and got up and took care of day one. I WILL exercise AT LEAST 20 minutes every sincle day.

WOOHOO! I know it doesn't sound like much. Some days I have water aerobics class for a solid hour so it's gonna average out to more than 20/day.

P tiger- I am with you on the brushing teeth thing. Maybe if I took my time and concentrated on one tooth at at time, then flossed. But I am a quick and frequent brusher, so it doesn't phase me to do it again.

Good luck on the flour stuff. That is too hard for me to consider.

I did have a huge salad for lunch tho, easily counting for three servings of veggies. Two more to go and I have one day down.

The hardest thing to change? Brushing my teeth at 7pm no matter what I've eaten for the day and calling it quits until morning. This is the most challenging.

A lesser challenge perhaps, but different, is to steer clear of all flour products, but this is something I am already struggling to curb. Last night I failed though.

I'll do my best to bring it back here daily and report in. One way or the other.

My habit is to eat five fruits and vegetables everyday. Potatoes in any form can't count. (I eat too many of those.)

Choose one habit that you would like to stop or a healthy habit that you would like to begin.
The challenge is to do just that for one week. Seven tinsy weensy days.
Post on this discussion what habit you are changing and how.
Each day, post your success. If you did not succeed please post anyway. OWN it.
Seven days. You can do it!

The inspiration for this came from the CEO of weight watchers. His blog Man meets Scale discusses his success in curbing eating after dinner.
