Hello Friends!

I'm sorry I didn't get in here yesterday. We spent the day bathing the birds, straightening up the house some more and doing a little work. I put up the tree but that's as far as I've gotten.

November wasn't an easy month for me and I'm sorry I wasn't able to participate more.I enjoyed the time that I did chat with all of you. I hope all of you have a great December! Keep reaching for your goals!!

Barbie - It sounds like you had a nice day yesterday. Have fun decorating and working on your Christmas cards.

Arlene - I found the Beyond Beef in the meat section where the beef is. It's usually right next to the hamburger.

Karenmarie - I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving!

Good morning ladies. I am sorry to have been missing in action. I will not be turning in my points this week. We had a nice thanksgiving even though it was just Bob and I. Yesterday we went to a small craft fair which was fun. Today I plan on starting my Christmas decorating and working on my Christmas cards.

I enjoyed our month together and look forward to seeing some of you in December's BSG challenges.

Glad everyone had a fun Thanksgiving.

CATHY - where do you find Beyond Beef - in the produce section then? I haven't seen it in the stores around by my but I may not be looking in the right area of the store. I also haven't asked anyone for help either.

Hello Gobblers!

We had a really nice day with our business partner/longtime friend and his family. His mom is 90 and she says some of the funniest things. You can tell she doesn't care about watching what she says anymore. lol

I talked with my mom for almost 3 hours last night! I don't ever remember talking to my mom for that long on the phone!! We went down memory lane and talked about many different things. We had a really nice conversation. That's why I didn't make it in here last night to chat with all of you.

Arlene - Beyond Beef is not tofu. It is plant based, smells and the taste is so much like beef. I will be making chili with the Beyond Beef. I'm so sorry to hear about your cherry trees. It sounds like the wind must have really picked up last night.

Karenmarie - Great job making your freggies goal and your other goals! It is fun to be around kids during the holidays! Each day I'm feeling a little better than the next. Tomorrow is my last day of antibiotics! :)

Barbie and Amy - I hope both of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Today I am grateful for Wacky family traditions. They make the holidays unique and give you a laugh. One of our wacky family traditions for Thanksgiving is to always end the meal with a word game. My dad started this tradition (not sure why). The words must be KEY words...words that contain KEY in them. Of course the first word anyone comes up with is TurKEY. When my dad passed, we continued the game as he was always the key to keeping the family united and strong. No matter who joins us at Thanksgiving, we always play the KEY word game and laugh about it at the end.

It as a rather hectic day with all the cooking but there were plenty of hands to keep the burden off a single person. It sure makes the work lighter when that are good helpers around.

Last night the winds must have been pretty bad. We woke up to 2 cherry trees being knocked down right at ground level too. Unfortunately they were both Bing cherry trees...my favorite cherries. After dinner the men all went out to clean up the 'mess'. They seemed to be done in now time. What a good way to work off all that turkey.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and enjoyable Thanksgiving and were able to spend the holiday with friends and family.

Good Evening

Today I am grateful for all my friends and family and their never-ending support. They always have my back and I have theirs as well.

Very windy here today. Took a quick walk with Sam this morning and have been busy all day yet I'm not sure what all I have really accomplished. Went with the boys to Brass Pro Shopbut not much else. Oh - raked up leaves again. Hopefully this is the last time until next year.

BARBIE - Glad you stayed put with all the weather you had. THe news talked about all the flights being delayed and weather/snow around the country. I'm glad I'm not traveling and glad my kids are close. My youngest came in last night already and the oldest is staying in PA. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

CATHY - This snow sure seems to be too early this year. Chili with beyond beef - so is it made with Tofu? Will the chili you make for friends on Friday be with beyond beef or real beef? Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow too.

KARENMARIE and AMY - have a wonderful thanksgiving tomorrow.

Hello Friends,

I got up late but slept fairly well last night. On Monday, I made some chili with the beyond beef and hubby thought it turned out well. He said he couldn't tell the difference between the beef and beyond beef. My taste buds are off from the antibiotics so everything tastes off to me. We still have some left but I put it in the freezer for now. Last night I made a big batch of vegetable beef soup. I know it probably seems strange to have a chili made with the beyond beef one night and then beef the next but I'm trying to move towards eating less meat. The vegetable beef soup made a big batch and should last us for several meals. I won't be cooking on Thanksgiving and have no idea what the independent living facility that our business partner/friends parents are in will be serving. I know that the place they are living in is really expensive and that we had to make a reservation for eating there with them on Thanksgiving. This morning I made a big batch of oatmeal to last us for the rest of the week. I will be making more chili for Friday when our friends come over and will probably make a double batch.

Tomorrow I have a bone density scan to see if the injection I get twice a year for osteoporosis is working or not. I need to start cleaning the house tomorrow since it takes me a little longer to do things with my knee not being healed. Friday, we have friends coming over after Randy gets home from Karate.

We did get quite a bit of snow between last night and today. I'm not sure how much we got but I am sure that it was at least 8 inches. There were times when the wind was blowing the snow so hard you couldn't hardly even see into the yard from the front door. There were people who got out this afternoon. Nobody around us went to work this morning. It seems very Christmas like outside with all of the snow. I want to start getting the house decorated for Christmas. Making out Christmas cards is kind of bittersweet for me. My grandpa (mom's dad) would always write a short hand written note, put a comic strip in it and send a book of stamps. He passed away a few years ago and really miss him. I'm glad I have those memories to look back on though.

I meant to have Randy get down the Christmas decorations and tree today but we both forgot.

Today I am thankful for a nice warm house and that we don't have to worry about putting wood in a wood burning stove all night to keep the house warm like we did in Missouri.

Arlene - What you did is so funny! That sounds like something I would do too. It's good to be able to laugh at yourself.
I too amd glad everything turned out well for my mammogram. I don't think we got 10 inches but it's hard to tell since the wind blew some of the snow around. I'm pretty sure we still got at least 8 inches though. We still had snow on the ground from the snow we got last Thursday. I imagine they probably closed all of the military bases here today since the visibility at times was nearly 0 at times.

Amy - Sorry you've been so busy but I'm glad you stopped in for a few minutes to let us know you are alright. I hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Barbie - I'm glad you decided to stay inside with the weather being so bad and also since it progressively got worse. Glad nothing has stuck so far and that you don't wake up to much snow. I'm sure Marv looks so nice after getting groomed. I need to get my Christmas stuff out so I can start putting together Christmas cards. I'm glad you are making good progress with your cards.
Thanks, I am glad the technician said my mammogram looks normal. It was really nice to have the store do the shopping for us. We only had to pay $10 to have them delivered and then I tipped the woman because it took her so long to do the shopping and had to make several substitutes.
I too hope I get answers about my knee soon. The foam roller helped and Randy massaging my back helped.
Thank you, I too hope that my mom's pain level stays at bay.
Gosh, Bob and his family certainly have been through a lot this year. I'm so glad Bob's youngest son is finishing his chemo at the end of the year and will have the final surgery to take out the colostomy bag and re-hook things up. I'm sure Bob is grateful to have your companionship during all of this.

Karenmarie - I hope you had a good day!

Good evening friends. It was really nasty weather here today, cold, windy and wet. I decided to stay in and clean house today for exercise. It turned out to be a good choice as the weather progressively got worse as the day went on. Bob got snow at his place. We’ll see what I wake up to tomorrow, but so far it was only rained mixed with snow with nothing sticking here.

I took Marv to the groomer today and he looks so handsome now.

This afternoon/evening I worked some more on my Christmas cards. I am making good progress.

Today I am thankful for my house and blankets to keep me warm during this winter weather that is unusually cold and windy.

@ Karenmarie - I am glad you were able to get out to go shopping with your sister. I am sure it does feel like you are a prisoner in your own home sometimes. Woo hoo to you and CJ – you are so close to the 900 day streak! That is so awesome.

@ Cathy – So glad the technician said your mammogram looks normal. I think this time of year would be wonderful to have the store do shopping for you. Wow 10 inches seems like a lot of snow. I hope you stay safe and warm. We rarely get snow here, but they are saying we may this evening.

I am glad you are feeling better. I hope you will have answers about your knee soon. I hope the foam roller helps your back.

I am glad your mom wasn’t in much pain tonight. Here’s hoping that your mom’s pain level stays at bay.

Yes, Bob’s oldest son died in early March, the same time as we had the devastating snow last year and the same time his youngest son was being diagnosed so it has been a devasting year for his family, but they are strong and his youngest son is doing well with his treatment. He will be finished with his chemo at the end of the year and then early next year he will have the final surgery to take out the colostomy bag and re-hook thinks up.

@ Arlene – I am glad you were able to laugh at yourself today. That sounds like something I would do.

@ Amy – I am glad you stopped by. I hope you are having a good week.

Happy Tuesday Everyone,

Today I am grateful for great jokes. I love to laugh and really enjoy those deep belly laughs where you laugh so hard you almost pee your pants or the moment when you can’t control your laughter. Today the joke was on me. Ben and I went out to grab a bite to eat for lunch. I went to the restroom to wash my hands before I ate. There was a mom and 2 little girls there. I put the soap on my hands and then placed my hands under the faucet. No water came out. I moved my hands around ans still no water came out. The mom said "I think you need to turn the faucet on to have water come out". I was so embarrassed. I guess I'm so used to the water faucet being motion detected anymore that I forget to check that. I of course said thank you and even stated - I wonder how ling I would have been in here before I figured that out on my own had you not said anything. I could not help but laugh at myself. Oh I laughed so hard I then had to pee before I wet myself. It's terrible to get old and senile I guess. I did tell Ben all about it and he couldn't stop laughing either. I won't live that one down for sure.

BARBIE - Glad you were able to spend family Thanksgiving with Bob. I'm sure your presence helps to add some normalcy and consistency to his life with all he is going through.

KARENMARIE - glad you were able to get out and do a little shopping and walking around Walmart's. Sorry you feel cooped up at times.

CATHY - Glad everything turned out well for your mammogram. Hope you don't get as much snow as they are expecting. Closing 3 bases so far already doesn't look good.

AMY - Hope all is well. I'm sure you are looking to the long weekend.

Hello Gobbler Friends,

This afertoon I went for my yearly mammogram. The technician said that she isn't a radioliogist but she's been doing this for more than 20 years and said that the films looked good. We stopped for coffee afterwords and then I got online to order groceries to be delivered. With it being so close to Thanksgiving, we're expected to get up to 10 inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow and it was evening when the shopper started shopping so it took much longer for her to shop than normal. It took her more than an hour, even though I didn't want that many items.

I'm slowly starting to feel better. Each day seems to be a little better than the one before. My back has been bothering me but I can't get on the inversion table with my knee the way it is so I used the foam roller to help. I'll probably do it again before I go to bed.

I talked with my mom this evening too. Usually when a storm is coming in she's usually in a lot of pain but she wasn't really in much pain tonight. So far, fingers crossed, freezing off the ends of some of the nerves in her back seems to be helping. It's only been 2 weeks so it's hard to know for sure but I was really surprised she wasn't in pain when I called her. I also cleared some things up with her. We didn't have a disagreement or anything but I needed her to understand some things and thankfully she understood my position. It felt good to get that load off my shoulders.

I had sent a message to my PCP last week to see if they could refer me to another orthopedic doctor in hopes that I could get an appointment earlier with them. If the doctor's office is open tomorrow I will call.

We're supposed to get snow tonight and tomorrow as well as winds tomorrow. They've closed 3 of the military bases already which is really unusual. They hardly ever close the military bases. They even said that the driving conditions tomorrow are going to be impossible. It's one thing to get snow but when the wind blows it can be nearly impossivle to see.

Today, I am thankful I talked to my mom and that she understood my position.

Arlene - How sweet of your son to send you a fresh flower arrangement. It does feel great to when someone sends you flowers or an unexpected gift. It's a shame your son won't be able to come home for Thanksgiving but hopefully since his girlfriend will have some time off at Christmas time they'll be able to come then. Aw, it's understandable that the flowers uplifted your spirits but also might make you miss hime more. I'm glad your other son will home for Thanksgiving.
I'm sure the yard looks nice now that you have all of the leaves raked up. Sam obviously really enjoys her walks. It sounds like she was enjoying the weather too.
Thanks, it's good to be back with all of you chatting again. I'm slowly starting to feel better. My days are starting to get better. It was nice to spend Thanksgiving with my family. I wish we could have had more time together. I understand to a degree the pain she is in. I know how it feels for not just the muscles and such to hurt but it's a whole other level of hurt when your spine is actually hurting. I hate seeing her in so much pain. I agree, Hope needs to focus on getting better. She doesn't need more stress added to her. Yay, I'm glad you found the wreath and it's now on the front door. I think we're going to go ahead and put up our artificial tree especially since there is a shortage of Christmas trees this year. I think we'll also go shopping for more Christmas decorations soon too.

Barbie - I'm glad you had a good weekend. That's nice you were able to celebrate Thanksgiving over the weekend with Bob's son that is going through chemo. I'm sorry, I didn't know that Bob's oldest son passed away this year. That must have been so difficult on the whole family. With everything they've all been through it tends to make you feel grateful for the good things in life. Christmas shopping with Bob sounds like fun. Getting in lots of steps is a nice bonus too. Wow, it certainly sounds like you had crazy weather.
Thank you, my friend, each day is a little better. It was a sad way to end our Thanksgiving together. I'm thankful her husband is willing to do anything to help her feel better. Her back was feeling better today, thank you for asking.
I'm glad the weather was nice enough for you and Marv to go for a walk.

Karenmarie - Thanks, I too am glad Iam feeling better and I appreciate you praying for my mom. Bummer you didn't make your freggies goal. Good work on your no late night eating goal. I'm glad you were able to get out of the house to do some shopping with your sister. I can understand feeling like a prisoner in the house with not being able to leave you rmom for long unless she is in bed or the recliner. I'm sure she appreciates all that you do for her though.

Arlene-.I am so happy your son sent you flowers. What a sweet
thing to do .Good job getting your walk in with Sam.

Amy~, I hope you doing well.

Barbie---. I am happy you have a good weekend, I will pray
for Bob and his family. Good job getting in a walk with Marv
and going to yoga.

Cathy- I am happy you feeling better. I am sorry your Thanksgiving
was cut short. I will pray for your mom.

I did not make my goal of 3 fruits and 1 veggie a day, , My biggest obstacle is not eating in the middle of the night when I get up to take mom to the bathroom.. So that's what I will be working walking around Wallmart, , My and CJ 10 min exercise streak is now at 899 day . My happy today was going shopping with my sister at Wallmart, .. I am grateful that I was able
to get out of the house to go to Wallmart. I sometime feel like a prisoner in the house. Since unless mom in bed or a recliner . WE can't leave her along
for long.

Good evening friends. Sorry I wasn’t able to check in over the weekend, but I had a good one.

Saturday Marv and I got in a nice walk before going to Bob’s to celebrate Thanksgiving with part of his family, the son and his family who is going through chemo. It was a really nice time. They have been through some very tough times this year with the death of Bob’s oldest son and his younger son having cancer and going through all the treatments, etc. Yet they all felt thankful for so much.

Sunday Bob and I went out of town, to a town about an hour north of our town. Bob accomplished some of his Christmas shopping. I was able to get the items I was out of and we had a great time and got in lots of steps.

Today Marv and I got in a nice walk and then I went to yoga. After lunch I decided to go to the store to get some apples and things I was out of. While I was out and about, the weather turned nasty, windy and rainy. Then about two hours later it was nicer again. Crazy weather.

@ Cathy – I am so sorry that you have been so sick. I pray that you feel better soon and that you are able to get a good night’s sleep tonight.

I am sorry you and your mom were not feeling better yesterday when you celebrated your Thanksgiving. I hope your mom’s back feels better today.

Today I am thankful that the weather was nice enough this morning for Marv and I to get in our walk.

@ Karenmarie – I am sorry you are struggling with meeting your freggie goals, but you have been doing great with your no night time snacking which is great. I am glad that your brother is appreciative of all you and your sister do in caring for your mom.

@ Arlene – How sweet of your son to send you flowers for Thanksgiving. I am sure you will enjoy them as long as you can. It is sweet that your son is staying home to celebrate Thanksgiving with his girlfriend. My youngest grandson is doing the same this year because he has such a short time away from college for Thanksgiving.

Happy Monday Gobblers...and we are that much closer to the end of the challenge as well as Thanksgiving Day

Today I am grateful for fresh flower arrangements. I received a Thanksgiving Day arrangement today from my oldest son. It feels downright great when someone sends you flowers. He is not able to get home for Thanksgiving; his girlfriend is out of vacation time and what she does have remaining she will be using at Christmas. He decided to stay home with her and not travel in for Thanksgiving. I totally understand and would do the same thing if I were in his shoes. The flowers were so uplifting for my spirit. But now I think I might miss him more. On the flip side, the youngest will be home and for that I'm grateful.

Did a little grocery shopping for a few items I forgot the last time I was out over the weekend. It was a beautiful day today so Ben and I raked up some leaves...the last bunch to fall. Surprisingly the pear tree seemed to hold onto the leaves the longest this year. I don't seem to remember it that way in the past.

Sam and I of course took a few nice walks. She ran like a wild animal again. She's so funny to watch, I can't help but laugh at her crazy 8's. I'm not sure how she keeps her stability. There certainly are times I think she would just fall over she cuts those corners so tight.

CATHY - Good to see you have in the chat. Happy you are starting to feel better finally. Glad you got to spend time with the family and had your Thanksgiving together. Sorry to hear about your mom being in so much pain. I can only imagine. Glad the other leaders are able to pitch in and take some load off Hope. She needs to focus on herself and her recovery. I did find the wreath. And it is now on the front door.

BARBIE, AMY and KARENMARIE - hope your day is going well.

Hello Grateful Gobblers,

I won't be turning in my points for this last week but I will do my best to stop in to chat with all of you. I'm slowly starting to feel better. I just need to regain my energy. I finally have been able to make my intestines feel better by eating plenty of yogurt and drinking kombucha to try to keep the good bacteria in my guts. Antibiotics are great but they also kill off all of the good bacteria along with the bad in your intestines. I just need to get a decent night's sleep now.

Yesterday, my family got together to have Thanksgiving together. I wasn't feeling so great. My niece has her hands full with 3 little kids Two of them being under 1. The youngest is 7 months old and she's so tiny that she looks more like she's 4 or 5 months old. Her sister looks like she's as old as she is but she weighs a ton. She's not fat but she's like a ton of bricks compared to her sister. We didn't stay long because my mom's back was really starting to hurt her. She got in her vehicle and was crying just before we all left because she was in so much pain. I hate seeing her in so much pain.

Last night I got everything ready for Amy to put together the December BSG Challenges. I'm not sure if Barbie or I will be putting up the January BSG Challenge or not. It's Barbie's turn but if she can't do it for some reason I will. We have all decided to put in a little more time and effort into leading the team so that Hope can focus on getting better.

Today, I am thankful I took a step towards relieving some stress on me and to make me happier.

Karenmarie - I'm glad your niece moved in next door so that you can see Natalie and Elijah more. It's fun to play hide and seek with little kids.
I am starting to feel a bit better each day. Thank you for your well wishes. I'm sorry you are struggling with meeting your freggies goal. You're doing great with your goal of no late night eating though. That's really nice of your brother to give you some money for taking care of your mom. It's nice to know he appreciates that you and your sister do everything you can for your mom.

Arlene - How exciting to start planning a trip to Europe. I've always wanted to go but we couldn't before because of pets and couldn't afford it. We could afford it now but we don't have anyone reliable enough to look after the birds for that long a period of time. Have fun decorating the house while your husband and youngest son are hunting. I understand what you mean about enjoying your ME time but also missing the company of Ben and your youngest son. At least you have Sam to keep you company. I don't usually write Christmas letters but I'm thinking about doing it this year. The only person I have to send a letter to overseas to is Linda (1BLUEMAC) since she used to be a team leader at one point in time for many years.
Thanks, we all do our best to keep the team going. It helps that most of us have known each other for many years.
Good work on your walk yesterday. We got snow on Thursday. Tuesday we're supposed to get more snow as well as on Friday. The sidewalks aren't even completely cleared. We can't decide whether to get a real Christmas tree this year or to put up our artificial one. Glad you were able to sleep in and get an extra half hour of sleep.
Thank you for turning in the points for the Grateful Gobblers the last couple of weeks. I can turn them in for our team for this last week.
It is a "wonderful time of year". Good work getting the tree decorated as well as putting decorations in the windows, garland on the banister and hung the stockings. Now that we have a nice home I should buy a wreath to put on the front door. I hope you are able to locate your wreath. I usually don't do much baking for the holidays since it's just Randy and I. It's too much of a temptation to get into it for me as well as Randy.
I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and spending it with friends that are like family.

Barbie - That's a big job raking up the leaves and picking them up. Great job on your blood work going down. I'm glad you have the friendship of Bob to help you cope each day. I'm sorry it was cold and foggy out. I'm sure Marv misses his walks on days like the other day.

I'm sorry for not doing much of the challenge with all of you this month. It's taking me a lot longer to get my energy back after getting the UTI.

Happy Sunday,

Today I am grateful for the upcoming holidays. Guess they don’t call it “the most wonderful time of the year” for nothing. I did decorate the tree today put decorations in the windows, garland down the banister, hung the stockings...I still need to put the front door wreath up and do some decorating in the dinning room. I actually thought I had the wreath down from the attic but can't seem to locate. So I either meant to bring it down or it is down just buried under other decoration boxes. It will turn up in the next day or so I'm sure.

I planned out the holiday dinner - both Thanksgiving and Christmas. I still need to plan the baking. Last year I think I did too much. I had too much in the house. I did give a fair share away to neighbors and the kids. I like having a variety so I either do the same amount just put more on the plates I give away or I make less. I'm not sure which yet.

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving...as I'm sure we all are.

KARENMARIE - WOW - 2 more days and you hit 900 days of exercise. That's a great record. How nice your brother gave you some money for taking such great care of your mom.

BARBIE, CATHY, AMY - hope you are having a terrific Sunday.

Happy Saturday Gobblers,

A typical winter day in Ohio today...cold and rainy. I did get a good walk in with Sam this morning...bundled up. But with the rain this afternoon, we didn't make it out for a 2nd one. We did get out for a quick potty stop for her though.

I did watch the OSU/Penn State football game today. It was nail biting. OSU did win. We are now 11-0 and hopefully this will get us back to the #1 ranking spot.

I did put the Xmas tree up but no decorations yet. Just not really feeling it. I think it's just to early but tomorrow will be a different day and perhaps the feeling will be there too.

Today I am grateful for NOT setting the alarm on a weekend. It felt so nice to sleep in even if it was only for 30 minutes longer. Even though I'm semi-retired, I still set the alarm. Normally I'm up before it ever goes off. I'm more of a morning person and I do tend to get more work done in the morning than any other time. Today, I did not have it set and it was nice to sleep in for that extra half hour.

BARBIE - 3 hours of raking. WOW...that's a lot of leaves. I know I'm glad we are now done with ours too...until either the trees die or next fall when we begin raking again. Great to hear the THIP is working and your numbers have improved. That has got to be good feeling.

Hope everyone else is doing well and having a fun filled weekend doing whatever makes you happy.

My week 3 total is 1510.

Good evening friends. Sorry I missed chatting yesterday, but I spent 3 hours raking leaves and picking them up. I was grateful that most of the leaves have now fallen and I won’t have to do any more raking for another years. I went to my final Total Health Improvement Program class and I was pleased to see that most of my blood work numbers had gone down.

Today I am thankful for friends, especially Bob who definitely helps me cope each day.

Today it was really chilly and foggy so Marv and I did not get in our walk. I went to yoga which was great. Then I came home and had lunch. After lunch I just didn’t feel like going out since it was still quite chilly. I went grocery shopping and worked on my Christmas cards.

@ Arlene – How fun to have trip planning to do and look forward to. I hope you will enjoy your ME time when Ben and your youngest are on their hunting trip after Thanksgiving. I didn’t get around to putting up decorations last year and I really missed them so I am planning to get started on mine next week.

Good job getting your annual Christmas letter written. I am slowly making progress on making my cards.

I am not sure when I will get to see Harley again. It gets quite expensive between the dog sitting cost and the airline costs. We are hoping to pull an annual family trip the third week in July, but I really want to see Harley sooner than that.

@ Karenmarie – I am sorry you didn’t make either of your goals today How fun to do children yoga with Natalie. I am sure you both enjoyed it. It is great that your family lives so close and you have the opportunity to spend time with them.

@ Cathy – I am so sorry to hear that you are still not feeling well. It is good that it is not the flu, but a UTI is no fun either. I pray you start feeling better soon.

@ Amy – I am sorry you have a cold/sinus infection. I hope it goes away soon

Happy Friday Everyone,

Today I am grateful for vacations. Ben and I have decided to go to Europe in 2020; the trip planning seems to be a real happiness booster. At this point, we aren't sure if it will be a cruise or some sort of land trip. If we decide cruise, we are going to have get things planned here pretty soon. Although if we wait much longer, we may be able to get really cheep pricing as they prefer to sail full than sail with open cabins. Even though we don't know what we will be doing, I'm enjoying the research to put it all together. I'm already getting excited even though I'm not what to get excited about.

I realized Ben and our youngest will be hunting from Saturday after Thanksgiving for an entire week. I'll have all that time to myself. There is apart of me that will enjoy the ME time but there is also a part of me that will miss the company. I did come to realize any Christmas decorating I wanted to do after Thanksgiving will be all on me now so I started to pull things out today. Ben and I will be putting up the Christmas tree tomorrow...at least I have him talked in to doing that as of now. Once the tree is up, the rest of the house I can do.

I also wrote my yearly Christmas letter today. I still need to find some pictures to include in the letter before I print them out for the cards. But I think the letter always seems to take the longest. I did start to address the envelopes. With any luck, I will have them out just a few days after Thanksgiving if not a little earlier. My letters to Germany will need to go out soon otherwise they may not get there on time for the holiday.

KARENMARIE - sorry to hear you didn't make goal last night. I can only imagine how much fun you had playing hide and seek. I used to love playing that with my boys too. I'm glad Shannon and the kids are next door for you too.

CATHY -I agree. The leaders of the A/I team are the best. I've been a member of several SP teams and none seem to be active as this one. The leaders really do a great job keeping everything going. I glad each and everyone of you step up to make things better for all of us.

AMY - hope you have a fun filled weekend.

BARBIE - Any big plans for you? When will you be going out to see Harley? Will you make it out for Christmas by chance?

Happy Thursday Gobblers,

Today I am grateful for Chocolate…AND I love the fact there’s a little health benefit to it too. I actually had a Hershey Kiss today. I haven't had one of those in months. It was yummy and yet one was enough.

I did grocery shopping today in prep for Thanksgiving. Got the turkey thawing and all the ingredients for the the side dishes. We did get a pretty big one - about 22 pounds. Ben and I also went to Lowes for a new curtain rod. We will hang the rod tomorrow. Other than that and my normal Sam walks, not much was happening here.

CATHY - glad to hear from you. How terrible - I hope you are feeling better and the antibiotics have kicked in.

AMY - It sure is nice when you have a pastor you like. Hope you get to feeling better soon too.

BARBIE - Glad you got the gift out. I too hope it makes it there on time. I look forward to seeing the soup recipe.

KARENMARIE - Great going again on making all your goals. Glad you enjoyed the church meeting and you are able to control your eating there. Glad you like your new pastor.

Hello Friends,

I'm just stopping in for just a minute. I went to the Dr. on Monday morning because my temperature had gone up to 101. I was getting worse by the day it seemed. I thought for sure I had the flu but then the doctor pressed on my abdomen a little and asked if I've ever had abdominal surgery. I had uretor surgery when I was 5 because the tubes from my kidney to my bladder were connected wrong. I forgot that several years ago I also had my gall bladder removed. He asked if I could pee in a cup so he could test for a urinary tract infection (UTI)or kidney infection. The test for the flu came back negative but the other test came back positive. I have/had a UTI. He gave me a shot of antibiotics to help jump-start the reversal of the infection. He also gave me a prescription for antibiotics for approximately a week and some nausea medicine. Slowly I'm feeling a tiny bit better than the day before. I still don't feel close to normal though.

I'll have to see how I feel next week and decide whether to try to join all of you or not.

I have a sinus headache today. I just can't get rid of this cold/sinusitis!

My points for this week is 1020.

Kathy- hope all is well with you!

KarenMarie- great job on getting your goals. Oh my almost at 900 day streak! That is awesome! Glad you have a great pastor. We have a new young pastor and
we like him except he is long winded and likes to talk. lol I really miss our other pastor that retired. He was from Ireland and always had a smile and was so positive.

Arlene- hope you was able to rest. Meatloaf with broccoli and potatoes sounds good.

Cathy- I made broccoli cheese soup and cheeseburger soup Tuesday. My son loves the cheeseburger one and daughter loves the broccoli & Cheddar soup.

Good evening ladies. I had a good day. Marv and I got in our walk early so I could get my granddaughter’s birthday present in the mail before yoga. It hopefully will arrive on her birthday. Yoga was great; we worked on core strength. This afternoon, after lunch of my yummy soup, I finished the last of my spa cloths for the granddaughters, worked on my granddaughter’s scrapbook in a box, and worked on Christmas cards. All in all it was a good day.

@ Arlene – So glad you hit all of the green lights so you were not late for all of the appointments for your hubby. I hope they all went well.

I haven’t heard from Cathy at all. I know she wasn’t feeling well and was taking this week off, but I don’t know anything further.

Yeah, I am not sure why they are calling it plant slant. I think maybe it is just so that people focus more on whole foods and more plants. My soup was very yummy and filling. My doctor did not suggest this, but when I told him, he was pleased and he and his wife are also on the plan. This program really is supportive. I will include the recipe for this soup tomorrow so you can see what is in it.

@ Karenmarie – Way to go on achieving both of your goals today and also getting in exercise. You and CJ are so close to 900 days which is AWESOME! I am glad you enjoyed spending time with your church women and that you like your pastor.

@ Amy – I hope you are having a great week.

@ Cathy – How are you feeling?

Arlene- Cathy said she was busy this week and taking it off and I am not
sure about next week, I am happy you got Ben appointment done. I am happy you made all green lights/.

Amy~, I hope you doing fine,,

Barbie-...Good job getting your walk in with Marv, I am happy you got
to talk to your daughter,

I did make my goal of 3 fruits and 1 veggie a day, , My biggest obstacle is not eating in the middle of the night when I get up to take mom to the bathroom.. So that's what I will be working on. I did make my goal last night. My exercise today was PRIORITY ONE - Getting Started - 106 .. A youtube video . It was a senior chair exercise. workout. My and CJ 10 min exercise streak is now at 894 day . My happy was going to my church women meeting, I made sure I didn't eat allot. . I am grateful for a great pastor. Our last pastor didn't want to do many chuck activities and wasn't
very friendly with women.

Happy Wednesday Grateful Gobblers,

Today I am grateful for hitting every green light on our commute to the VA Medical Center. I think that may have been the first time ever. Ben and I went there first thing this morning. He had several doctor appointments with the last one being at 1:30pm...,the first was at 7am. We left a little later than we should have. Thank goodness we hit all green lights. We got there about 10 minutes before the actual appointment. After the first appointment, we ate breakfast there then after the 2nd appointment we ate lunch there to. I have to say their choices are pretty good and the food isn't bad. Prices are great. I had a turkey meatloaf with broccoli and potatoes. Ben had fried chicken with baked beans and a biscuit.

Other than the day of doctor appointments, and 'tagging' along to help keep things straight, I did not get much else done and I'm tired now too. I think that might be because I got up earlier than I normally do anymore.

I haven't seen Cathy on the chat in several days. Anyone know how she is doing? I hope she is okay and that her knee is getting better.

BARBIE - interesting how they don't want to call the eating plan vegan. I wonder if vegan is getting a bad warp or something. Your soup sounds yummy. Hope it turned out well and you enjoyed it today. Is this eating plan something your doctor suggested or something you saw and decided to give it a try? I wouldn't mind trying something like that but I don't think I would know what/how to cook for it. My idea of plant based is a bowl of broccoli or a salad. I don't know what else I could cook. That would be the biggest struggle for me. But it does sound like they are giving you some very good tools to help with all that. Anything cooked right can taste so yummy.

KARENMARIE - YIPPEE...way to go on your 3 goals again. Glad you enjoyed the time with your brother Rich.

AMY - hope all is well.

CATHY - how is the knee?

Good evening ladies. I had a great day. It rained last night and part of today, but Marv and I were able to get in our walk. After our walk I went shopping to pick up some baby things for the name I picked at church. It is a newborn baby boy that is in foster care. I also went to Costco for a couple of things.

When I got home I ate lunch. Then my daughter called and we talked for a while. I feel especially special having heard from her and my granddaughter the last two days.

Today I am grateful for the phone call from my daughter.

The rest of the afternoon/evening I have been working on Christmas cards which I make. I also made a black bean vegetable soup, but I got it started too late so it will be for tomorrow I guess.

@ Arlene - I am grateful for my dog, Marv, also. Our dogs have a way of making any day better in my opinion.

I am sorry to hear that Ben is still under the weather. I am glad he felt up to going for a ride and get in some shopping for the holidays. It doesn’t feel like it should be time for the holidays to me either. I guess maybe I am just in denial of how quickly the past few months have flown.

THIP is Total Health Improvement Program. Yes plant slant is basically vegan, but for some reason they prefer it not be called vegan. It hasn’t been too difficult for me to switch from eating meat to eating plants. The most challenging for me is that you have to cook from scratch so much more because it is also aimed at whole foods. I have enjoyed the meals I have been served that contain tofu, but I haven’t been brave enough to try cooking with it yet. I am sure I will find that very challenging.

@ Karenmarie - . Good job on achieving both your goals and also continuing your exercise streak. I am glad you were able to spend time with your brother Rich.

@ Amy – I hope you had a good day.

@ Cathy – I hope you had a good day and that you are feeling better and in less pain.

Hello Gobblers,

Today I am grateful for my dog, Sam. I’m grateful when she is so happy to see me. I know she loves me unconditionally; I consider her family and she increases my happiness.

Ben is still a bit under the weather. We did however take a ride to the outlet mall today. We walked around just a bit and did a little shopping; getting ready for the holidays. This weekend several of the area malls will be having their tree lighting festivities. Weather wise, if feels right but it still seems early to me. Maybe I just don't want the time to go by so fast. Ben and I were already talking about how we can't wait for March to get here and Spring.

BARBIE - what is THIP? Plant based food sounds like a different food option. Is it all vegan? Was it difficult for you to 'convert' from eating meats to all plant based? What is the study really looking at? I do like tofu but I have yet to be able to cook it properly. It might be that I get firm when I need something less firm but I suspect I really don't know the proper way to cook the type I have gotten in the past. When I've had it at restaurants, I do really like it.

KARENMARIE - glad you made all 3 goals again. Awesome job. It's always nice to hear you do a good job at work and glad you have a nice group to work with.

AMY and CATHY - hope you guys are doing okay and things are going well for you.

Good evening Grateful Gobblers.

Today I am grateful for the chance to meet monthly at different restaurants around town to sample my new plant slant meal plan. Tonight was an Thanksgiving meal including turkey (tofu based) with all of the trimmings and pumpkin cheesecake (non-dairy) and I really enjoyed all of the meal. The unexpected bonus is that the THIP paid for all but $5 of my meal since I am participating in their study. I thought the $15 they paid was only once, but tonight I learned that it is each time during the study.

It wasn’t overly cold this morning. Marv and I got in a nice walk which I followed with stretching. Yoga was awesome today. It was a full class which was nice. We worked a lot on hip and shoulder opening/strengthening.

When I got home I talked to my granddaughter for a while. She had some questions about filing for custody of Harley. The family of the father of Harley are telling him he can file for and get full custody of Harley. While we all know that he shouldn’t have a chance of getting custody, it is still a worry. We just have to pray that the judge will see the truth. My granddaughter has paid for everything for Harley since day one and the father has often made excuses for why he can’t have Harley on his visitation days. Anyway, we just have to pray.

After I got off the phone, I made my granddaughter’s birthday card and started planning what cards I would make for Christmas this year. Then it was time to go to the dining experience.

@ Amy - I am glad you had a great weekend.

@ Arlene – I am glad you were able to enjoy a long, hot shower. I agree that it really feels good when you are stiff, which I am most mornings.

Good job on getting an early walk in this morning with Sam. It is odd that you were cold in the afternoon when the temperatures were actually warmer, but I find a lot of times it feels colder than the temperature actually says.

Good job making your turkey soup. I hope you enjoyed it as much as you were anticipating. Warm soup sounds yummy on a chilly day.

@ Karenmarie - . Woo hoo! Good job on reaching each of your goals today. Your exercise sounds good. I love yoga. It is nice that you have co-workers that are nice and it is always nice to hear that you are doing a good job.

Happy Monday Gobblers,

Today I am grateful for being able to take a long, hot shower. It’s so relaxing and feels so good especially when the body feels a bit on the chilly side. Plus I did feel a bit stiff this morning. The hot shower sort of loosens me up.

Sam and I walked early this morning around 7:10. The temps were right at 30 but it didn't feel too bad. In fact I was able to walk without my hood up or even an ear warmer. We went out again around 12:30. Temps were 43 and I was so cold. I had my hood and ear warmer on and I was still cold. Does this make any sense? I don't think there was a wind of any sort.

I made a turkey soup for dinner today. Found some turkey wings at the store and decided to make soup. Seems like I can only find turkey wings in the fall/winter season...unlike chicken wings. I have all the veggies chopped up for the soup; broth is already done. I'm already licking my chops waiting for dinner tonight.

AMY - glad you had a good weekend. Sometimes the best weekend is one where you don't do much. Glad you were able to watch your football game this weekend too.

BARBIE - glad you and Bob were able to take care of the leaves. It's always nice if you don't have to rake them and have the ability to cut them up.

KARENMARIE - Good exercise; I am sure you and your mom enjoyed the time together at the museums. Glad you enjoyed your visit with your brother. I'm sure you will be happy when he moves back home and it will be such a big help for you and your mom when he moves back home.

CATHY - Hope you are doing well and starting to fell better.

Good evening friends. It was a good, but busy day. After church Bob mowed my front lawn which also got rid of a lot of the leaves I would otherwise have had to rake up. While he was doing that I raked and blew a lot of leaves out of the flower beds.

After that we had a monthly get together with some new friends of various nationalities. It was a great get together.

After the get together we both had grocery shopping to do.

Today I am grateful that all of those leaves have now been picked up so that I don't have to spend hours raking them up.

Arlene-.. Yay for your self-control! Good job cleaning out things for donation. I would definitely have difficulty donating one bag a day.

Happy Sunday All,

Today I am grateful for Sunday mornings. It is a perfect for brunch.

Ben, I and our son Chris went out for brunch today. It was so good. I had a good deal of fresh fruit and was able to limit the carbs like the fresh danish. I was pleased with my self-control. After brunch, we did some shopping at the Bass Pro shop. The boys were in need of bullets for hunting. When we got back home, the boys went to the range and zero'ed in the guns in preparation for shot gun season. I didn't really do much of anything but I did manage to clean out an entire dresser and most of the items I packed up for donation. My youngest said I need to donate 1 bag a day during November. I think I'll have problem hitting that but I can't remember why or where he came up with 1 bag a day.

CATHY - just saw your message on sending in the point. I'll do it as soon as I'm done chatting. Oh, no...it does sound like a mild version of the flu. Hope you get well soon.

BARBIE - Glad you enjoyed the weekend trip.

KARENMARIE & AMY - hope you are are going well.

Good evening friends. We had a wonderful time away the past couple of days. It was really great to see my friend's husband. He seems to be doing well considering it has only been about 10 months since she passed away. He has taken a few trips with friends and is continuing his time at the fitness center. He has a few future trips plans and has found a hobby to help keep him occupied and make a few dollars doing it.

The weather was nice. Friday it was rainy and foggy, but by the time we got to our destination it was fairly nice. We spent a couple of hours shopping and looking around Old Town and then we met Rod for dinner and visited for a couple of hours. This morning when we woke up the fog and rain were gone and the weather was quite nice. Bob and I looked through some antique stores.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend.

@ Arlene - Sounds like you had a busy but productive day. I hope your back will not be too sore tomorrow. My neck and back hurt so bad yesterday, but I finally was able to get it relaxed and relatively pain free.

@ Cathy - I am sorry you have been sick and have to bow out of this week. I pray that you will feel better soon and that your appointments go well.

@ Karenmarie - I am glad you had the opportunity to watch Natalie.

@ Amy - I hope you are having an enjoyable weekend.

Hello Grateful Gobblers,

I was feeling a little better last night but today I have many of the same symptoms as yesterday except for the chills. I've been running a temperature of around 100 all day long. I think I've come down with a mild version of the flu. I did get a flu shot earlier this year but I think it would would have been much worse if I hadn't had a flu shot.

Anyway, I think I'm going to bow out of this week's challenge. I need to focus on getting better since I have many appointments coming up and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.

I'll try to check in once in a while if I'm feeling up to it.

Arlene - Could you send the Total Points and Average points for our team to Amy and CJ? I've asked one of them to determine the winning team for last week.

Happy Saturday Gobblers,

Today I am grateful for the “undo”button. Sometimes there are situations that call for a giant “OH - NO.” The undo comes in so handy. AND I used it several times today.

Busy day today. We moved some furniture around, took some from upstairs and loaded it into a trailer for our older son to take. Then we moved a few pieces from the basement to the upstairs. Needless to say I'm tired and I have a feeling my back will be hurting tomorrow. I also did some work for work today which is where I used that undo button. My mind must not have been focusing they way it should. I was also disappointed I was not able to watch the OSU game. The game was on the Big 10 network which I don't get. I've been listening to it on and off on line (not the same as watching it) With 10 minutes left in the game the score is OSU 49, Rutgers 14.

CATHY - sounds like you had something this morning. Glad you were able to fall back asleep and were able to sleep until 2. Sleep does a body good and you must have really needed it.

KARENMARIE - Glad you enjoyed watching Natalie. I too am glad we live in a free country where we have many freedoms that other countries do not have.

AMY and Barbie - hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Hello Gobblers,

I woke up this morning feeling really bad. I felt dizzy, achy, chills, headache and nauseated. I had very little energy too. Randy had to help me to the bathroom and he made us some toast this morning for breakfast. He wasn't feeling very good either. He also made me some peppermint tea to help settle my stomach a little. We both went back to bed and got up around 2 pm. I wasn't running a fever this morning but when I laid back down to sleep I got pretty warm and broke out into a big sweat. I think that helped me because when I got up at 2 I was feeling better. Not great but better. I didn't feel nauseated, my aches, headache and chills had all gone away. I didn't have a lot of energy but more than I did this morning.

I canceled my lunch with my friend Michele since I wasn't feeling well. Also, she still has some thyroid cancer too and I don't want her to get sick. They can't take out the rest of the cancer without taking the remaining vocal chords she has. :( I think they are giving her medicine to suppress the cancer but I need to find out more.

It's been a rough week for sleep and then not feeling well this morning. I'm hoping next week will be a better week for both of us. Randy wasn't in much pain the 2nd day after his dental surgery but yesterday and today he's been in a fair amount of pain.

I talked to Randy's dad this afternoon. He has been working on his property and trying to get things ready for his trip out here. He is getting the heater on his truck worked on and it's supposed to be done on Wednesday.

Today I am thankful Randy took care of me when I was feeling really bad this morning.

Amy - I'm glad you had a good time at the Thanksgiving lunch at work yesterday. It sounds like everyone had a good time.
I slept okay last night. I'm hoping to get a better night's sleep tonight.

Arlene - I like coffee too but usually have a cup of tea first and then a cup of decaf coffee later. Almost all of the snow we got a couple of weeks ago is gone. Still a little bit on the ground. Glad most of your snow is pretty much gone. I'm sorry to hear Ben has a cold. It seems like colds get worse as you get older. Colds usually hit me pretty hard anymore. I've heard everyone raving about the new Popeye's chicken sandwich but we haven't tried it yet. That's nice you and Sam played fetch outside again today. It definitely sounds like something had been out there earlier in the day.
Snoring hubbies can be the worst. I put ear plugs in even. I'm like you though, if I can fall asleep first, his snoring doesn't bother me especially with the earplugs in. If he falls asleep first though it's nearly impossible for me to fall asleep because he starts snoring almost immediately. LOL That's so funny that you usually kick him or pull the covers off him. One and a half hours away isn't too bad. Four hours is a different story. I'm glad you get to seem him ever 6 weeks or so. Oh, right, I couldn't remember if it was your older son or youngest son that you co-parent Sam with.

Karenmarie - Thanks, I too am happy I went to the keto class and got something out of it.
I'm sorry you din't make your freggies goal but it's great you made your no late night eating goal as well as continuing your exercise streak. I'm glad you got to babysit Natalie. How old is she now. I agree, I'm glad we live in a place where we can state our views.
