Sorry to hear of your loss Randy earlier this month, i just joined today and browsing through this, It is always hard , In the month of May we went through 2 deaths in the family, one hit harder than the other, but they may be gone but their memories remain on how cherish that we had time to spend with them whilst they were amongst the living. Randy I just read your post tonight, I am so very sorry to hear of your Mother's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know what a shock it is but you are doing the right thing getting back on SP so soon. You have so many supportive friends here and it obvious how fond they all are of you, Draw your strength from your faith and your many friends, Our hearts are with you, I'll add your name to our prayer list at church, I wish you comfort.

Fear knocked at the door. Faith answered. No one was there.

thanks everyone for the wonderful words of encouragement --- sharing experience strength and hope.

Today is the first day back on SP.

I knew that 100+ FSC was one of my sources of strength and support.

I also knew that today was the day to get back -- and be active.

I know me -- I can procrastinate getting back to the next right step!!

Thanks everyone!

Hello Randy,
I am new to the group and am so sorry to see this, my heart weeps with yours, my dad was only 58 from a heart attack 6 years ago.

I won't say it gets better but it will get easier to live with in time.

Take care

Randy, I just joined this team today, so I hope I'm not intruding. But I had to reach out to you today as you grieve the loss of your dear mother. Reading your post brought back so many memories for me, as I lost my mother in 2007. We were preparing for a long fight with cancer and she was supposed to come home from a 3 week hospital stay the day that she died. The shock is something that takes a good bit of time to deal with. It is surreal to wake up in the world that your mother is no longer in.

My mother was young, like yours. Just 65. And our family is small, like you mentioned. Mother was a HUGE presence in our small family and there are many adjustments to the family dynamics that take place once the matriarch is gone.

It takes time to grieve a loss of this magnitude and I hope you will give yourself all the time that you need. My heart goes out to you and your family.

So sorry for your loss....but so glad she didn't have time to suffer. My dad went quickly too - within 5 days of entering the hospital.....we were in shock as well - he was scheduled for more tests to see what was going on with the cancer and then he was gone.

I know it totally throws you for a loop and you go on "autopilot" for arrangements, etc., but lean on each other and know that she's watching over all of you and loving that you are all together as a family helping each other. She's at peace and knows that she was loved by her family and friends.

Love & hugs to you and your family! emoticon emoticon

Randy,

What a shock to have your mother called home so early in her life. I am so sorry for your pain and grief. I'm sure the angels are celebrating her arrival. She will be pain free now.

Your SP family cares for you. If you want to talk, we'll listen. If you want to cry, we'll be a shoulder for you. If you want to pray, we'll kneel with you. Anything we can do to help at this difficult time.

Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry. As you say the only Blessing is that she didn't suffer and none of you would have wanted to see her go through that, but it is such a shock for family when it happens so quickly.
So good to know that you were with her and she will have felt that, she was very young, but in time you will remember the good times and be able to talk of her often
Love you

wonderful friends --- I've popped in to let you know that my mom, Phyllis McCoy, passed away at 1:45am this morning (June 11, 2012).

I think I'm still in shock to get news a week ago that she had some form of cancer and then this morning she is gone.

I was with her, along with several family members, in a hospice room in the hospital. There were a few episodes of pain but it seemed to be relieved fairly quickly.

I know my mom didn't want to suffer and that it's probably a blessing that it was quick for her. But of course I, and the rest of the family, would have wanted to keep her with us longer.

Mom was 69 years old. She was a wonderful lady that will be missed greatly by a fairly small family -- but many many friends.

I just wanted you all to know at Sparkpeople 100+ First Step Club -- that I couldn't ask for better friends -- actually I call you all my FSCFamily or SparkFamily.

Your messages, in many forms, was very encouraging. I also appreciate Laura and Beverly for relaying messages to get you updated. I sent them texts (may have bombarded Beverly with enough to put her over her plan) but they truly are my sisters --- and are very much appreciated -- as all of you are.

It's 10 minutes until 4am --- I had my aunt drop me off at Mom's apartment in the small county where I was raised. She said will you be ok there by yourself -- and I said yes I would. Mom would love the fact that I felt I could come her and sleep. I'll need to be here for other arrangements that will need to be made.

And now I hear a large shout from FSC --- lay down and get some rest! and I will heed that advice!

Thanks again -- for being there for so many times -- and especially at one of the most difficult times in my life.

HUGS
Randy
