Still stitchin away on my Kinkade piece. I have finished up two blue colors in it and only have about 1/3 of it left. It still feels like a lot left to do, but at the same time I know it isn't much compared to how much I have already finished.

I am terrible about having way too many projects going at once, but I didn't steal this trait, I inherited it from my mom who used to craft a lot too. She doesn't craft as much now, but she used to always have about 3-4 projects going at a time. I am really trying to get better about this, but there are just so many cute crafts in the world. I am pretty consistent with the counted cross stitch and the scrapbooking though. Those are my favorites.

I am making progress on my cross stitch and this morning I was able to finish up with one color and it really helps keep me motivated. I am going to try and finish it for my step-dad's birthday which is Valentine's day. We will see though as that isn't much time, but if I work consistently maybe I can make it.

Tealhawk - it took me four months to crochet one short scarf, I can't imagine doing three as quickly as you have! The last crocheting I did was when I was in hospital with my oldest, just before she was born. I did a bonnet, sweater and booties that she never wore (she was preemie) but they were so pretty we put them away for her babies. Someday. She's 19 now, so she can wait for those babies until...well, 30. lol

Canyasmom - my daughters have barred me from shopping with them if I insist on picking up anything to do with cross-stitch or embroidery. They think three projects at once are two too many. Party-poopers. ;) I have a hard time choosing between cross-stitch projects, I can't imagine choosing between different types of projects to work on as well!

emoticon Good luck!

I should say that I am about 3/4 of the way done with my Kinkade cross stitch, but it still has been a pain. I have another kit like it that I had bought at the same time thinking they would go quickly but I must have been delirious back then. I don't know that I will ever do the second kit. Anyway, yesterday and today I have been really motivated to work on it and I am seeing progress. I am terrible at having a bunch of projects going at once so not only do I have the cross stitch, I am working on 2 crochet projects, and I am a scrapper too. I love crafting, I just really have to get better at finishing the projects I start. So this week I am really going to focus on my cross stitch and see how far I get on it.

finished my scarves for my little grandbabies, they seem to like them, at least the boys do they like to wear them inside and out. Their little sister is a bit little to really like her yet

Even my bigger projects are much smaller than most of those I'm reading about here! LOL

I only returned to stitchery about 18 months ago, so I'm working my way up slowly. Or that's my excuse anyway. ;) I have two counted patterns I want to start and finish for my girls before they are off to college in the fall; one is a little girl taking a walk with her grandpa (looks JUST like my oldest and my grandfather when she was about five...) and the other is a pair of wolves with very little background, which is for my youngest.

Before that, though, I have to finish what I started before Christmas, the birth records, and a larger project for my group. Even so, all that stitching would not equal a Kinkade pattern! emoticon

I am currently working on a Thomas Kinkade cross stitch that I keep putting down and walking away from. It has no white space and so it has felt like I will never finish it, but I am determined to finish by spring because my son loves wolves and I want to cross stitch wolves for his room. I won't let myself start the wolves until I finally finish the Kinkade piece so I am motivated to get it done.

A good friend of mine is having a baby boy very soon. She and her husband decided to go with the theme of "little monsters" for the baby's room. I'm working on a cross-stitch name plate for the room. It spells out the baby's first name and each letter has a monster on it. I'm going to add his birth date and full name to it as well to turn it into a birth sampler. I really hope to complete it before the baby shower in early February. Once the baby is born, I'll add the correct date and have it framed.

Well, some of the other projects got put aside yesterday - my youngest brother and his fiance had a baby girl! The kits I ordered for the nieces (this new one, and her older sister) also arrived yesterday, so I'm going to do them as fast I can. They're small, and fast, so hopefully by the big family dinner on Sunday.

This is the kit style, only I won't be using the frame included... I had frames for them already.

Here is my list:

Cirque des Cercles in variegated thread. I am not sure I like using this type of thread. I am going to keep going and maybe by the end of the month I will have enough to decide if I like it or not. Otherwise, I will just start over.

Hardinger button pattern, sent monthly from Nordic Needle. I have never done hardinger, I have most of the stitching done, then need to cut the fabric.(Gasp!!)

Snowmen christmas decoration on plastic canvas. I wanted to get this done by Christmas, but didn't. Maybe next year.

I think I have enough to keep me busy, but I did order one more project that I hope to do at work during lunch. Just don't tell my husband.

So, hopping right in with my list of projects on the go... :)

I've got a bar towel with Erin Go Bragh on it for my brother, a hat and treat bag with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme for my sister in law, a Mrs. Frosty flour-sack towel for my mother, a big red heart w/aspergers-autism puzzle piece in the middle for my daughters' step-mom and two Home Sweet Home caricature pieces for both brothers and their partners.

*whew* Once those are done, I want to start on a set of quilt blocks for the Stitches of Love charity in England. I'm thinking of adapting a set of Ruby McKim's embroidery patterns to cross stitch for them.

Wow, Val, Stockings take time!

I just finished an Ornament (the Chinese New Year Dragon ornament from the Christmas ornament issue of Just cross stitch, if you're wondering!). Then on Tuesday a friend at my knitting group taught a bunch of us how to finish ornaments and make cording. WOW! Whole new world opened up!

Finished up 3 out of 7 stockings the rest for next year. Had to stop the stockings and go on to graduation things for a couple of girls in our church, then back to stockings.

Still doing a halloween ornament but might move on to some christmas ornaments next- except I've never finished any! When I say 'finished' I mean sewn into a shape and added trim or cording and a hanger...anyone done that? Or know where I can find really good instructions (i.e. better than the ones in the back of the magazine).

I CAN NOT STAY AWAY FROM THE CRAFT STORE. I TAKE THAT BACK; IT'S BEEN 2 MONTHS SINCE I HAVE BEEN THERE. MY NIECE WANTS ME TO GRANDMA TO HER 2 DAUGHTERS. SHE HAS A 9 YEAR OLD AND THE BABY IS DUE NEXT MONTH. I AM GOING TO CROSS STITCH A BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT, BUT SHE DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. HER AND HER FIANCE' ARE GOING TO BE MARRIED ON 12/12/12. THAT IS WHEN MY OLDEST SON WILL BE 42 EXCEPT FOR THE YEAR.
HER MOM (MY SISTER) PASSED AWAY IN 5/2002, SO SHE ASKED IF I WOULD LIKE TO BE GRANDMA. I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD BE HONORED AND I AM SURE THAT MY SISTER WOULD APPROVE IT. I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO BE A GRANDMA, BUT IT WILL BE A GOOD EXPERIENCE AND NICE TO HAVE SOME GRANDKIDS BEING MY SONS HAVE NOT HAD ANY YET.

I put my huge project aside and now am working on a zippered cosmetic case for my daughter. Then I plan to do another, for my other daughter's friend, and than a framed picture for my niece's new baby. I fell in love withe the Belle and Boo design in the latest issue of CrossStitcher, and the little girl reminds me of my niece, the baby's mother :-)

As well as doing a model stitch I have also dragged out 4 from my 160 projects to work on in 25 hrs rotations. My first from the 4 is a sampler called Paws and Claws and is by Long Dog Samplers although I got it from the now no longer digital magazine The Gift of Stitching. I will post a progress in my gallery.

I'm apparently a glutton for punishment and went directly from the completion of one large project (Teresa Wentlzer's "The Castle", a gorgeous blended-thread masterpiece of a dragon protecting a castle) to the start of another. The new on is "Balloon Glow," a kit by Dimensions Gold. The Castle was for me, and was a piece I dreamed of creating for years before I actually tackled it (it took me just under 2 years to finish). Balloon Glow is for my mom, it will be the first piece I've made for her besides small things like ornaments. I've got about 40 hours in it already (I started in November) and it's progressing nicely.

Starting all over again. It's easier the second time, right?

I am planning to make more cards for 2012 .I suggested to a postal stitching group we could set up an imformal card swap. Quite a few like the idea . We take it in turns to chose a theme The first person said Floral. So each of us in the group are all making a stitched floral greetings card to mail to her.
Then another group member choses her theme and we do likewise for us all in turn .No paperwork all on line and postal cost low with just one card a month to send. I am excited about it and do hope it goes well and enables me to gather in a different selection of cards in my chosen theme when its my turn.
Keep stitching Irene emoticon
