What strength-training equipment at the gym intimidates you most?

1. Weight machines.

2. Free weights.

3. Barbells and benches.

4. Cable machines.

5. Stability (physio) balls.

6. Something else not listed here.

7. None of the strength equipment intimidates me.

I'm not familiar with a lot of the gym machines, but have tried the Physio Ball and like it. I think the barbells and bench would be most intimidating to me. Did resistant bands for the first time yesterday and enjoyed them.

#2 & #3 When it gets too cold, I move it indoors. But there are times when I have to really work to stay motivated...I would much rather walk outdoors.

#3. They need help! I have trouble staying on track in the colder, darker months. Even tho I go to the gym, I just don't want to leave the comfort of my home.

What happens to your workouts when it's cold outside?

1. They chill. I enjoy the same outdoor activities.

2. They move inside- its too cold out there for me.

3. They need help! I have trouble staying on track in the colder, darker months.

4. They refresh. I ski, snowboard, and try other winter sports.

5. Nothing. I always work out indoors.

I voted for #3! I really have to be motivated during the winter months as I tend to hibernate.

What is your favorite Fall calorie-burning activity?

1. Raking & jumping in leaves.

2. Picking & carving pumpkins.

3. Hiking a scenic trail.

4. Running from ghouls at a haunted house.

5. Chasing your kids back to school.

6. Apple-picking at an orchard.

I like hiking a scenic trail. I noticed yesterday that the trees were beginning to show some color and there is a tree lined trail I like to walk so will check it out over the weekend.

1. Healthy recipe substitutions.

2. Squeezing in workouts.

3. Staying healthy away from home.

4. Motivation for staying active during the winter months.

5. All of the above!

I think #4! I tend to just want to stay home and hibernate during the winter months.

Are you a fan of NBC's "The Biggest Loser" TV show?

1. Yes

2. No

I watched part of this show last night and have mixed feelings. I enjoy the contestants and their life stories, but am wondering about one of the trainers, if maybe her drama is staged for more ratings? It does amaze me the number of pounds that the contestants lose each week.

What small change has given you the biggest results?

1. 10-minute workouts.

2. Portion control.

3. Tracking my food.

4. Drinking more water.

5. Taking the stairs.

6. Something else not listed here.

7. I don't think small changes really work.

For me its tracking my foods and drinking the water. When I don't track my foods I tend to fall off the wagon!

I, too, would love number 4 but pick number 5 because in the bad economy the charities are in need. Last Christmas the kids and I decided to make contributions in lieu of gifts and only grands got gifts. We have been doing the same all year for birthdays. Every little bit helps.

Which healthy gift would you like to receive this year?

1. A health-related magazine subscription or book.

2. Access to fitness (gym or class pass, videos, equipment).

3. An iPod and/or its sporty accessories.

4. Relaxing spa treatments or products.

5. A charitable donation in your honor.

1. It is not my husband that wastes food it is me. I do not like to cook and we go out a lot of times when I really should stay home and cook. I remember one time filling up a trash bag (the big black kind) full of food from the freezer and refrig that had gone bad. I can still remember the feeling that came over me that I had committed a sin by trashing so much food and money. I now cook at home 3 days a week and do not buy any groceries until the day I cook.

Does your household waste a lot of food?

1. Yes, more than we should.

2. Yes, but not that much.

3. No, nothing goes to waste.

Think we are a cross between 1 & 2. Everytime I put something down the garbage disposal, I have a tendency to think of all the people that are going hungry. We try not to waste anything, but sometimes it happens.
