I'm sorry I haven't posted much but my work is going to be keeping me busy till the end of the year. I still have time to catch a peek at your posts so please keep up the encouraging words.

I like to have Chicken quinoa soup. You just make regular chicken noodle soup but you replace the noodles with quinoa. No difference in the taste and healthier for you. mmmm mmmm good!

No challenge through the holidays soounds good to me as I am still going backwards. But I agree that we need to stay accountable.

I am off today as I made a couple of visits to the bathroom before work and they were not of the pleasant sort. Broke out the chicken broth I had frozen and making chicken soup for dinner and supper. Ya I know it's a boring thought but if it stays in my stomach it will be worth it.

I only lost 2 pounds but that is the best I've done in a while.

I just noticed that I am in 2nd place in the fitness minutes for this team. emoticon I guess that 10 minutes daily helped to get me moving. Of course, I did much more than 10 minutes daily.

emoticon Weighing in today at 214.7. I am just .7 lbs away from half way to my goal weight!

I agree Lee, though we will need the support and accountability, maybe it's best to not have a set # challenge. Perhaps we can have a maintain or lose through the holidays challenge. Whether it's .1 or just the same, if we can get through our family dinners and all those Thanksgiving pies and Christmas candies without gaining it will be a victory. Then we can go back to our 5 lb challenges in Jan. I like the idea of posting our food conquering victories. Perhaps we can do one better and think of some proactive ways to keep temptations away in the first place. Whether it be bringing a healthy dish with you to a carry in dinner (and sharing the recipe with the rest of us) or just not buying that pie that looked so good, and one slice wouldn't hurt...

I am going to be going on vacation the third week of Nov and will be eating out the whole time (eeek) so I've looked up several restaurants in the area we will be and found some with nutrition facts and some pretty good choices. Even found a protein bar that serves steel cut outs or quinoa for breakfast with fruit mix ins. I've never tried quinoa so I think that I will take the opportunity while on vacation to have that for breakfast at this restaurant.

I will also see if we can get a rm with a fridge so that I can bring some healthy snacks and drinks along with us.

But I have to say, vacation right before Thanksgiving and Christmas, and then another vacation coming in January is pretty much a quadruple holiday whammy! Wish me luck and STRONG will power.

I hope every one's week end and halloween is going great!

I'm not certain if a challenge for Thanksgiving is a good idea at this point. I was wondering if we might keep a thread open through the holidays (Thanksgiving and Christmas) for daily chatter and to share what we're doing to pursue our weight loss. We can share personal victories over food struggles. I know we're going into a really busy time of year and the participation in the challenges decreases during this time of year. Perhaps a challenge in January would see more participation as people tend to look at weight loss at the beginning of the new year.

While posting you weight today please think of how much you would like to lose by Thanksgiving! Remember it is only 3 weeks away so do you wnat to go for another 5 lbs or maybe go with something smaller like 3 pounds?

Just post your thoughts and I am sure there will be another thread coming for a challenge to last us until Thanksgiving!

Thank you for the congrats. I know I go up and down and complain about my progress alot, but inside I know I am doing well. I am thinking that perhaps my getting upset with myself so much and often is a trait that I am not ever going to be able to shake, but in the end no matter what the weight is coming off and the clothes are getting smaller. At least in regards to the waist size of my pants.

Everyone must be really busy! Work is really slow since all the wind and rain but it is really putting us behind in schedule so as soon as this breaks we will be doing double the work trying to catch up!

I hope this weather clears up so that our walk does not get canceled for tomorrow evening! I so look forward to walking!

I had not heard about a Zumba game for Wii. I guess I will have to put that on my list too!

My DD & I got the Wii for DH last Christmas since this is about the only exercise he gets due to his illness. We lucked out and were able to get it next to nothing with the gift certifacates we had earned thru an online site. It was going to cost us a little over $20 but lucked out and got it with a $50 gift card rebate so we actually got paid for buying it. I used the gift card and got the Wii fit for me.

We saw quite a few when we were out and about on Saturday also. Since my mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer, I plan on joining the walk next year and inviting my spark friends along. What an awesome reason to exercise!

Does anyone else have a Wii game system? I lucked out and found one for my hubby and kids the first Christmas that it was released. As long as we have had it I have never played any games on it. That is about to change. I just found out that they are releasing a Zumba game mid November. I finally have the first item for my Christmas list.

I did not see the walkers since I spent most of the weekend working at home but I sure hope they had a great turn out.

The sunshine this morning makes we want to get out of the office and get in some walking before the rain starts again! But since that is not going to happen I believe that I will get in some Wii exercises when I get home if it is raining or if it is still nice I have yard work that needs to be finished before the weather turns ugly! I refuse to say that 4 letter word for what is coming. Yep it starts with an "s".

Teaching a spin and tone class at 5:30 this evening, half hour of cardio on the bike and a half hour of strength training.

I was fortunate to teach a yoga class Saturday morning at Memorial Health & Lifestyle Center in downtown South Bend. I subbed for another instructor there.

Did anyone else see the many walkers in pink Saturday morning?

Angel, so glad to meet you last evening. What a great walk and visit.

I just finished my two hour zumba. I am tired but it feels great to be back! I hope everyone has a happy and healthy weekend. I hope you all know that you are the reason I stay so focused on my healthy lifestyle and I appreciate all the encouragement you give me.

Another wonderful Friday evening walk! It seems as if the weather always improves some on Friday's and we can really enjoy our walks.

It was great to have DRUM (Angel join us and have a chance to meet her! Angel I hope you enjoyed yourself and I hope that you will come walk with us again. I know it is a trip for you but I sure hope you will join us again.

Look forward to meeting you guys tonight! I'm very excited to walk with you ladies. Lee, I printed out your directions and contact numbers. You give great directions, I should have no problems finding it at all. Vicki thanks for the tip on 331.

I have to go to the BMV this afternoon (taking advantage of having a vehicle today!) and renew my license which expires in a couple weeks! We are going on vacation the week it expires so I figured I better get it handled while I have the chance. Apparently they are switching to the smart id's. So I've spent half the morning digging through my files to find proof of my identity. Apparently the BMV issuing my drivers license to me last time isn't enough proof any more. haha! I am lucky that I found two acceptable pieces of mail. All the bills don't come in my name! Wish me luck!

I am so excited I get to go to my first Notre Dame game next Saturday. I am getting my groove back. I am going to a 2hr zumba tonight and I can't wait. Tomorrow I have a birthday party to go to. I will be playing volleyball with the girls the entire time that way I can exercise and socialize at the same time. Very excited!

DRUM, you can still bring 331 up here just hop on the bypass once you get up here and take the Ironwood exit and follow the rest of Lee's directions.

Lee,

I probably on average only drink about half the amount of water that I should be drinking. As for my fiber intake I have never really paid that close enough attention to it.

Will you be bringing 331 or 31 north or State Road 19?

The address here is 1825 Northside Boulevard, South Bend, 46615.

The best way is to take the Ironwood exit off of the 31 bypass. Bring Ironwood north and you'll see the St. Joseph River Valley spread out in front of you as you come down the hill through the light at Ewing. Continue through the light at Lincolnway, cross the river bridge (Martin's grocery store is on the right). Turn left at the traffic light at Pleasant, a restaurant/bar called the Oaken Bucket is on the right at this intersection. Travel two blocks west and turn right on 20th Street. Come up to the 4-way stop, you will see the parking lots of the university on your left. And you'll want to turn in (left) at the 4-way stop. I'll spark mail you my contact numbers now.

I'll bring the DVD's and we'll aim for 5:00PM, o.k.?

Lee, If I am going to meet you guys tomorrow (to walk and borrow dvd's) I still need some directions or even an address. Not even quite sure where campus is. If some one could message me directions, it'd be appreciated.
