Good to see you Claire! I am also grateful for the support here!

I feel like I am finally coming out of the funk I've been in. Just downloaded the SP apps on my phone so I can check in more easily and am trying to log my food again. I have gained at least 10 pounds since the beginning of the year, especially with the virus and quarrantine. I have to get back to a healthy eating and lifestyle because the angina has worsened due to stress over the last few months.

But God is good and my recent bloodwork was still really good inspite of the weight gain so I am tryhing to get it in gear. emoticon

So thankful to be able to hold our first service since the fire at a home and to have been able to continue our small groups in the homes of others. I will be having our women's group this coming Saturday emphasizing a time a thanksgiving. God is good all the time!

Oh my goodness! So scary to let go of our kids. I'm thankful as well that ho only lost some necessary but comparatively minor things. Is he your oldest? I have added him to my prayer list for safety at school.

My son is in college. His back pack had been taken from the laundry room in the dorm where he left it for a few minutes when he went back to his room to get something. He is a very trusting person and thought nothing of leaving his back pack there for just a little while, as no one was down there at the time.

Well, you can guess what happened. He came back to finish laundry and his back pack was gone. He had a lot of venting to do when we talked Sunday night. The dorm office wasn't open, nor the front desk (as it was 12:30 a.m.). He did manage to get a message to the RA's that were on duty that night, and neither had seen it during their rounds.

Fast forward to Monday morning. Ethan's backpack was returned to the dorm office, but his calculator and another item was missing. In the meantime, Ethan had gone to Meijer at 5:00 a.m. to get a new basic calculator and a backpack to get by for the day until he knew whether or not his things were returned. And later in the day it cost him $70 to replace the other item that was taken. Today we ordered him a new graphics calculator and did overnight delivery on Amazon ($150 calculator).

Where's the thankfulness you ask? I am thankful that his backpack, earbuds and textbook were returned, and that his laptop and phone were not in his backpack. Also, that this lesson is now learned, and it is highly unlikely that he will leave his things unattended in the future.

I am also thankful that he is safe. I worry about him now that he is on his own, but I'm working on leaving his care in God's hands.

Praising the Lord that my grandson Levi is doing well with his arm in a cast. It's hard to keep that 3 year old down - he is as ornery as ever and does everything he did before he broke his arm, last week.

That sounds awesome Judi! So glad you have that as a resource to encourage and motivate you through the Spirit!

I too am glad for the Spirit's gentle nudges and his words of motivation that he speaks to my heart. I'm also thankful for the fellowship of other wonderful Christians that I have this year - I've been able to attend the community Lenten lunches for the first time in two years since I broke my leg. Praise the Lord things are healing up well and I can even do stairs now!

Attended the Supernatural Ministry Intensive 3 from Aldersgate Renewal Ministries by livestream this weekend. It was a major time of listening, learning, and leaning in to the work of the Holy Spirit. Really encouraging to a frustrated prophet... So glad it is available that way!

Wow Larousse! What wonderful experiences for Simon! Praising God with you.

Today I am thankful for people who are advocates for others. I talked with a woman who is part of the Apprise program who was able to clear up a lot of my confusion about my Medicare transition process right now. In addition to all the overwhelming choices that everyone has to make, I have some extra issues with it and she really helped me to understand things. So praising God - and she was a Christian too!

Yayyy!! Thankful for that along with you, Bonnie! That's great news.

I am thankful that Simon will be home next Monday (only for 10 days though!) and that his time in Germany has been overflowing with great experiences! He has been working with professional musicians (page turner for the pianist), a conductor of an orchestra, and has spent time working backstage in a brand new theater in Hamburg! And staying with an 80 year old German lady who is a retired journalist! Prior to which he was able to spend time at a hospital in Bielefeld in their cancer research dept, since the father of his host family is a leading cancer specialist. He says he feels that God has amazingly blessed his time on training courses!

Today i'm thankful for safety on the roads. We had to go to a neighboring hospital for lab work/ blood tests this morning - it is an hour trip one way on a good day. The roads were fine when we started out, but by the time we were on our way home, we were driving in bad white-out conditions. it took almost 2 hours to get home. Praise the Lord we were ok and didn't see any bad accidents on the way home.

Well, my husband Rob just called me to report a miracle!!
I think I mentioned that our car had loads of problems... trunk blocked shut, mysterious light always lit up on dashboard... headlights and back lights etc... and the car needs its technical visit this month to check it is still roadworthy.

We were thinking about 600 euros to get all the problems sorted. :(

This week we found a friendly garage who fixed the trunk and the lights for 200 euros and even vacuumed out the inside! Another garage was quoting 500 euros (to fit a new lock on the trunk), but it turned out it was one of the electrical wires that controls the hydraulic opening system. And this garage is honest enough to only repair the part that needs fixing!

Well this morning Rob noticed that the mysterious error light on the dashboard was switched off! (first time in a year, despite garage trips, they couldn't fix it.)
So he went straight off to the tech control center and got the test done - woo hoo it passed! we're golden for 4 years!
And since he came out of the test center, the light has come on again! :-/

It's like the parting of the red sea!! the main thing is to get the test certificate, otherwise we would not be able to use the car at the end of this month, or risk a fine!!

We still have other stuff to deal with (computer has died, TV needs a new decoder box....) but getting the car fixed is a great relief.
Thank you Lord!!

Today I'm so thankful for God's protection! Our friends were taking their son and his fiancé to the airport in Brussels and they were running late. Had they been on time, they would have been there when the bombs went off. God is truly amazing and I thank him for his protecting hands over our friends!

Today I am thankful for my cardiologist. He gave me a good report and gave me permission to increase my nitroglycerin patches when I start physical therapy so that I don't have too much angina. I don't have to see him for 6 months now unless things get worse. Now all I have to do is see the bone doc on Thursday to let me start to walk and to order physical therapy! Yay! I think he will. God is good!

Larousse, I'm praying for your heating situation. Thankfully spring and summer are coming so your heating season is soon coming to a close for several months. Also praying for the translation position for your husband. it sounds like it is a good fit for him. Thanks for the update!

Hello everyone,
Well we're still in a bit of a tricky spot with our heating. The second plumber who came to fix the leak has already charged us 157 euros and the further work on the vent pipe will be around 600 euros! Need to talk to the bank to see how we can sort this out... :-/

No news so far from the translation agency. Claire, my DH is Armenian, and grew up in Iran, since his family moved there many years ago (probably about the time of the genocide). So he went to a private Armenian school, but did most of his studies in Farsi. He left Iran over 25 yrs ago and came to France as an asylum-seeker. Now we both have French nationality.

I agree, Bonnie you are so encouraging, in the middle of going through such a tough time with a broken leg!

Suzy, still keeping your niece in my prayers.

Suzy, I also thank you for the update on your niece. I will continue to pray for her.

Larousse, Thank you for giving us the latest news. Glad to hear things are better than you thought. Isn't that the way it always is, though? We worry and fret, and then when we take action, we find out it isn't as bad as we think. God was always at work in the situation and He continues to work on the situation. As to the translation work for your husband, I will, of course, be praying. I know that many Europeans know more than one language (I think my daughter-in-law knows four), but how is it that your husband knows Middle Eastern languages?

Bonnie, Thank you for your encouraging words to everyone! You are such an amazing role model!

As for me, I'm grateful for all of you!

My neice came home from the hospital yesterday but with no test results. I know this is a trial on my sister because she worries that there are no answers yet. However I know that my niece has been running circles in the hospital since she was 16 and now she is 40. I think all the years of meds from the gallbladder removal at 17, the hysterotomy at 18, the appendix at 22 coupled with depression and the fact that she is 4'9" and weighs over 300 is a disadvantage. I wish that she one could have encouraged her and my sister to lose weight along the way and stay active.

I keep my nose out of prying on further information since that only gets me in trouble if I offer advice. I pray for my sister because she is feeling like the worst mother in the world sometimes raising a child like this.

Thank you for asking about her. I will keep you updated as I hear something.

Glad things are looking up Larousse.

Larousse, I'm praising God with you! Maybe the Lord is multiplying your food in the freezer and that's why you seem to have so much. emoticon I have seen him do that at times too, especially at pot luck dinners. LOL! I definitely will be praying about the translation work for your husband. We never know where things will lead - or who will come across our paths.

Praying too about the vent pipe issue that the Lord will help you get it fixed. Praise the Lord the heating is working and also your son's computer. That is definitely a relief.

I am praising the Lord this morning that my new crutches came quickly - they arrived last week. I have been practicing a little, though I am not doing much because I want to wait until the next doctor's visit when I will have another x-ray and get his ok for walking.. I will see him next week. I am so ready to be up and about!

I am thankful that I finally got the courage to check the amount on our bank account, and it's not as bad as I feared! Our "survival mode" seems to be working, and the amount spent on groceries and petrol (gas) is less than half it usually is. We have been keeping the car on just half a tank instead of filling it right up (over 60 euros for a full tank), and avoiding little trips as much as possible, by walking or getting the bus. And for food, we are still eating what's in the freezer and pantry! shows we had WAY more than we needed.

Our heating is working again, but the plumber who came to find the cause of the leak discovered that the vent pipe had not been installed properly! There is a huge gap on the roof between the vent and the pipe, which has been letting in the rain. :( It was installed 8 yrs ago by a Christian plumber who had his own firm. He has since stopped trading and moved away from our area. So more expenses due to get the pipe sorted out!

And, Simon's computer is working again! It seems to need to be plugged in for several days to have enough charge to start up!
Robert has had an interview with a translation/interpretation agency, who might give him some freelance work of interpreting by phone from French to Iranian (Farsi) or Armenian. He had the tests last week and is waiting to hear from them. I think the Farsi one did not go as well as he hoped, because they used VERY long sentences, so it was a huge memory exercise as well as testing his vocabulary!

Hope you are all well and find some reasons to be thankful, in the middle of struggles!
Love from Larousse xx

God is so good to provide people like Dennis to encourage, inspire and motivate us!

I am also grateful for the med van driver who took me from the hospital to the rehab after my surgery to set the break in my leg. For the whole hour drive, he shared his experience as a young man when he broke both of his hips. Through prayer, faith and sheer determination he worked hard to prove the docs wrong! His testimony was exactly what I needed to hear to help me work hard and be determined to heal from my broken leg. Now that I'm home, I still think of him often when I get discouraged that things aren't healing faster. The Lord reminds me to keep fighting (being active and doing my PT exercises) every day and he will do the healing. LOL!

Last night my DH and I picked up one of the gentlemen that I serve with on the Thrivent Chapter Board. He is suffering from pancreatic cancer. His wife died last August after suffering for months with late stages of Alzheimers. He was given 3-6 months to live last October. He is ready to be with his Lord and wife. In December he decided not to go further with treatments since they were not changing the situation. So here it is Feb. and the doctors had told him he would not be here and he still is.

He is excited for life and for death. He has no fear. He is not just curling up at home and preparing for death. He is out taking care of church plans. He is having people over to eat and getting the meals ready. He is playing his beautiful organ (which is absolutely one of the most wonderful sounds I have heard). He is planning meetings in the future without hesitation.

What an inspiration for me. When I waste time just feeling sorry for myself that I haven't lost enough weight, I didn't exercise for some lame excuse, I didn't get enough done for my business, I need to think more of this man. Dennis is someone to look up to and emulate.

Be a good steward. I need to take care of all that God has given me.

Today I am thankful for the opportunity to pray with empathy for others. A woman in our church called today and she is having a knee replacement next month. She was worried about it so I was able to pray with her and encourage her - it is different with my own experience now. The only thing is that her recovery should be much quicker than mine has been! But that's a good thing.

I'm also glad that I am here and that people know they can call and I will pray. I feel so good when I am able to intercede for them. I used to be very shy about praying with people, but over time it has become so much easier.

Oh Suzy, my heart aches for you. Being in the middle of all the upheaval and regrowth is a stressful time for all. But I love it that the Lord is bringing beauty out of the ashes and you were able to bring so many new people into the church and to have the First Communion class! Praise the Lord.

As I read your post, I remembered a field of wild blueberry bushes near Dan's childhood home. People from the community were free to go there to pick each year. But the underbrush grew along with the blueberry bushes until it choked them and there were fewer and fewer berries. Then one year, the owner burned the field, consuming the underbrush and the berries.. No one could pick there anymore. But the next spring, the wild blueberry bushes had begun to grow again unimpeded by the underbrush. After a year, they began to produce again until the harvest was great and the people of the community came once again to pick. The berries were bigger and better than before.

. I haven't thought about that in years. but the Lord reminded me that he owns the fields where we labor. Sometimes he has to "burn the fields" to remove the undergrowth that threatens to destroy the harvest there. But as we continue to cultivate those fields, the fruit will begin to grow again until there is another harvest,

I think that message was for me this morning as we are standing in the middle of a charred field with only a few scraggly plants standing. Our church has been in that state for several years now. The Lord keeps telling us that he has plans, but it's hard to see when there are only a few people there each week. Yet we struggle. My heart is hopeful this morning. I will continue to pray for you Suzy and for our church here that the Lord will do a mighty work of restoration and the harvest will be even greater than before!

Praying for you! Pray for us! Pray for all of us! We fight not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities. So we pray, pray, pray!

In the brokeness of our church we have experienced more than our share of those folks. After a long 2 year division, through mediation, and losing 60 members of the parish to various other churches in the area that are fully committed to 55+ only, we had our first annual meeting without argument, without name calling, and without tears, unless you count the tears of joy after the meeting to finally see a turn toward the future. We have over this same time brought 42 new people into the church many with families and children. We have had our first ever First Communion Class in the 55 years this church has been in existence. We still have a few that grumble but that keeps us humble too.

I am sure we are not totally over the struggle but the future vision and mission of the church has a clearer path and brighter light.

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for us and our church.

Thank you for the warning, Bonnie. I suspect many of us will be a little wary at first. However, we have always, even Fritz, treated her with grace, so I assume that will continue.

Wonderful news Claire! I do remember you posting about her. Praise the Lord that she was able to hear the Lord's voice and that she came to confess and share with you. Many who are in her position do not and ultimately fall away from the Lord or end up taking many others with them on their downward fall.

There are those I have often wished would come to us like that, but none have as yet and we have picked up many a broken piece in our churches. But God is good - he has kept Dan and I strong in him and he has always been there for us.

I am so encouraged that you shared this today. You are in our prayers. Just a word of caution - Even though she has confessed, be cautious with her until you see the fruit that comes from this. It's a lot like a person who has had an affair - they are to be forgiven, but not necessarily fully trusted until the work of God can be clearly seen in their lives.

God bless!

I have to share a huge praise with you ladies. Some of you, Bonnie especially, would remember me sharing about a woman at our church who called herself Fritz's prophet and caused all kinds of heartache for Fritz and others.

Yesterday after church when everyone else had gone and Fritz and I were on our way to Cincinnati to see his dad, she asked if she could talk to us for about 10 minutes. I was apprehensive, and prayed the whole time I looked for Fritz. We asked where she wanted to go to talk and she said she wanted to go in the sanctuary, on the altar.

She thanked us for giving her the time to talk and then proceeded to tell us how the Lord had humbled her mightily in the past month when she went on her yearly Florida trip. God told her that where she was calling herself to be Nathan to Fritz, that God told her she was supposed to be Nathan to herself. That she had been arrogant and thinking she knew everything when really she knows nothing. And that she was asking for forgiveness.

There was so much more she said which I don't need to recount for you all, but bottom line was that ALL the things she said that she had been doing were--and this is so hard to put in words--all the things she realized were the very things Fritz and I had been saying she was doing. I have no idea if that makes sense and it's hard to write about it quickly. Anyway, she asked for forgiveness and of course, we forgave!

PRAISE THE LORD!

PRaise the Lord Larousse for that check! At least it was something. I am sorry you had to go through all that. I'm very glad you are here with us.

Today I am praising God for health. My knee is beginning to improve after an arthritis flare from Thanksgiving. The Lord is good.
