I just entered a new topic, "5pm Today -- Importance of Community" so that it will stand out. It will be a discussion between two prominent clergymen for this unreal time of corona virus. Observers of all religions or no religion may find it helpful. There is a link to sign up and, if you choose, to submit a question in advance.

If interested, to go that topic or click here for the magic-carpet ride to it:

Did another virtual scavenger hunt with grandkids on Thursday. Our church has several Zoom meetings a week and a video of Sunday services. We actually did communion in our own homes this morning.
I practiced and taught yoga for years...out of practice now. Never do anything that hurts. I used to tell my classes, Go to the edge of the cliff (challenge yourself), but dont jump.

I hope you get to see your granddaughter.

I know there was a question about handling your mail and if it was dangerous. I wash my hands after handling my mail.

I went for a hike yesterday. I climbed the mountain to get to the tower. I got over 4000 steps and 11 floor climbed, The scenery up on the mountain was beautiful.

Today I did grocery shopping. Everyone was keeping their distance. They have tape marked off every 6 ft. at the registers.

Some of the retailers around here are making an effort to support the disabled and the elderly by giving 30% discounts every Tuesday, instead of just having the first Tuesday of the month be discounted for those of us who qualify. Almost all stores dedicate their 7:00 - 8:00 am hour to the same clientele, so that some of us aren't overwhelmed at different times of the day. My pharmacy is advertising that home delivery is possible, but my branch of my grocery store hasn't put that service in place yet. My daughter had been picking up the majority of my stuff and doing my grocery shopping. Thank goodness for great kids. It will be hard to deliver my things by mail or in person, because the building I live in is a secured building that they have cleaned and sanitized professionally and there is no one in the office to let a delivery man in. So, it is very difficult to meet delivery persons to get the delivery - whether groceries or pharmacy purchases. They discourage anyone but an authorized caregiver to come inside the cleaned area.

I'm sorry that your g/daughter was unable to visit at this time. It is my younger g/son's birthday today. He's 13.

I had a lovely surprise when I emptied my medications out of the bag yesterday. They had put in a little soft-filled (not creme) chocolate Easter egg.

My medication was delivered today - to my deck rather than my mailbox. I was told to carefully dispose of the paper bag it came in and wash my hands thoroughly after. I was going to anyway, but it is good that they are telling people to do it.

We are sunny, moderately warm weather today. We explored a new county park and took a 3 + mile walk/hike. I was amazed at the number of people in the park, however everyone seemed to be respecting healthy distances.

I woke up with the same cough I had last week, and a sore throat. My ear is jabbing a bit but not really an earache. I am hoping that it is just the cold coming back. I was tested for the virus because of going to the gym alot and it was negative. I was just put on cough medicine and it seemed to clear up. but is now back. I am going to finish the cough medicine and see if that helps before calling my Dr. again.

I need a couple things at the store, but instead of going to Stop & Shop I will just walk to the corner store. It is more expensive being a convenience store, but worth it today.

My best friend has been tested a couple days ago, because he is a tour director and was on a couple cruises when all this hit the fan. His wife wanted him to be test to be on the safe side. She just got over having a kidney stone and having it go septic. She was quite sick and in ICU for almost a week. I imagine her immune system is just beginning to get back to normal. Until the test comes back, he is confined to the basement and she won't let the dogs near him either. He is really going stir crazy.

How is everyone else doing?

Bonnie - if you talk to your Mum or friends on the phone, walk around your little appartment while doing so. My house is 997sq feet, and I do that often. I also put my laundry away one at a time. If you are going out to get groceries, put them away one at a time, too. It all mounts up. To get in extra mobilization, get up to go and get a small drink of water more than you would otherwise. Just get up to walk to another room and back. Walk to your footpath and back a few times a day. I do this daily regardless, and it helps.

One of ways Ive used is simply walking around inside while I listen to a podcast.

From Thursday afternoon to Friday morning, I had an amazing time. My dear SIL and I did a virtual scavenger hunt via Zoom with our grandkids ages 6, 6, 7 and 9. We all had a great time. At 6:30 Thursday evening, a very talented neighbor in our condo complex sang to us from her balcony. Her name is Bridgette Kossor. If you have access to Facebook, you can find her and listen to the whole concert. DH and I danced to Unchained Melody just before walking home.
Early Friday morning my phone chirped at me indicating a video call via Instant Messenger. It was our friends from Turkey we havent seen in over ten years. My husband served in the Peace Corps in Turkey and then we lived for a year in Istanbul. Weve been back several times and always stay with Tahsin and Aysa. It was such a joy to see and hear them. Luckily DHs Turkish is still pretty good.

What are you doing to prevent a sedentary life when we are cooped up? I am running out of things to do. My apartment is only 600 sq. feet and has never been so clean. I have cleaned out my closets(6)lots's of closet, just no space. I have reorganized the food pantry. It is raining so walks are out. Yesterday was gorgeous so I went to the grocery store, pharmacy and Walmart. I did get plenty of steps in. I do jigsaw puzzles, but you are not moving, read, you are not moving. Getting things together to do a tag sale or flea market, but don't know when that will be. Is anyone more creative than I am to get activity in.

I posted this without reading first. emoticon for the links

Carol, what a fine writing project. Your son must be loving the opportunity to learn so much about his parents that he hasn't known.

Thanks so much, Kris. The combination of graphics and words seems just right.

BTW, I am writing. Our son gave us a subscription to StoryWorth for Christmas. Each Friday, he gets an email with a list of questions. He chooses one for me and one for DH. We get an email on Monday with the question. Ive had ones asking about a memorable trip, my mother, my favorite childhood book or toy. Thinking and then writing about the topic is fun and nostalgic. Usually by Thursday I have written and proofread my answer. I just stick in in as a reply to the email with the question. My answer Is forwarded to our son and daughter and I recently added my sister to the list. At the end of a year, the answers ( and we can add pictures) will be bound in a book.

Thanks for the reminders and tips, Kris. Here's WebMD.com's article on the same subject. I haven't read it (yet), but a quick skim says that it, too, may be helpful.

Creative pursuits, whether doing or looking or reading or writing, are excellent in stressful times. Every museum, performing arts center, libraries, other cultural centers, Ys and other community organizations, et al., are offering online options. Some are virtual tours of exhibitions, others are videos of actual performances and more. There are plenty of hands-on options; I'll come back in a little bit to EDIT this post with a couple of links.

Anyone can write. You may have had a story or essay at the back of your mind. This is the time to have fun with it, whether you are a Writer (with a capital "W") or a dabbler. Grab a notebook. A fun thing is to start a list. It can be brief accounts of things you've seen or overheard that made a impression on you -- whether humorous or serious. Another possibility is a list to briefly describe experiences and things you've done that are unexpected in the life you know best (examples: For a few weeks, this life-long NYC'er worked in a western wear store in Cheyenne; I got a ride in a Denver fire engine when, having lost my pedestrian bearings, I asked the men, stopped at a red light, for directions).
Lists of whatever you choose can be made more fun with illustrations, whether any degree of adeptness, even stick figures and the like.

Okay, I'll be back with those links.
