In looking for another link to the special that might give permanent access (didn't find one), I came across this article from Salon.com. Beside glowing about the special, it covers HBO's overall program for World Mental Health Day. It's interesting and a quick read. (It may be of greatest interest to those who do not have HBO, me included!)

I loved it. The show was very well-done. It's funny and personal.

Laurie, I agree, he's very sweet and endearing. His treatment took a turn I wasn't expecting. That's a great idea about leaving a note for HBO.

Kris, HBO is supposed to have the entire show on their site but maybe that's only in the US. Now that it's been shown on YouTube, it will probably end up on various sites so hopefully you can see the whole thing.

Just watched the whole special and it is wonderful. Gary is funny and sweet, the latter of which I thought to myself long before he said it. As a performer, he's super and, as a documentary/special/whatever, the show is first rate. I left a note to HBO telling them to leave it up on Youtube permanently as a public service.

He reminded me of what I've kinda sorta known for so long: As long as I can laugh, I know I'll make it.

MARIENOW, thank you for the link.

Just had a quick look and yes, I can get HBO. I watched the one about what he took, and will definitely watch the others tomorrow.

Just tried the link. It isn't available here. I will see if I can get HBO tomorrow. I'm off to bed soon.

Gary is well-known in comedy circles. This is the first time he's talking about his depression so normally his act isn't about that. He was on Last Comic Standing a while ago.

I'm still watching it but I found it interesting when he lists all the medications he's tried. He's been on virtually every type of medication. I still need to watch the rest tonight.

P.S. Kris, it's also on the HBO website so maybe you could see it there.

Thanks for the share!

You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face.

Mistakes are the portals of discovery.

Don't be afraid to give your best at what seemingly are small jobs. Every time you conquer one it makes you that much stronger. If you do the little jobs well, the big ones will tend to take care of themselves.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

I watched the first 10 minutes and will get back to it later.

Is Gary Gulman well known? The name is new to me. Have I been missing something? Is his career in comedy based on depression?

I'll see if I can watch it. Sometimes we can't see some youtube from some other countries.

The Great Depresh

I haven't seen this yet but have heard from a few people that it's really amazing. It's about depression but supposed to be very funny. HBO is showing it for free on YouTube until Saturday in honor of World Mental Health Day.
