All the worrying and wondering for the last 2 months on if I take the valium and get my teeth fixed was a waste of time. Had the follow up at my dentist yesterday. (The one who pulled my teeth 2 weeks ago and who told me about the Valium) I had planned on seeing him but no. It was just the nurse to check the bottom wisdom tooth. I told her if I had known that's all it was for I would not be there. I didn't need it checked. I never went for a follow up appointment 15 years ago when I went there and had the other bottom wisdom tooth pulled. I had made a list of a few questions to ask the dentist about it all and had planned on going back to get my teeth fixed. The way he talked at the consultation it made me think he was going to do the fillings and everything else. Nurse told me he doesn't do fillings unless I'm put to sleep. Now that leaves me with no dentist. I don't trust dentist to begin with and I'm not about to search for one now. Done that in the past and it never went well. I'm so ticked off. If I had known he wasn't going to be the one doing the fillings ect I would not have spent $1,500 to have 3 teeth pulled. I would have just done the one I went there for. Guess lesson learned. Went through the same thing 2 months ago with another doctor. Thought he did surgeries since he told me back in December the surgery I went to talk to him about was no big deal and he had no problems ever happening with that type of surgery. Long story but since I Started having problems I went back to him 2 months ago to set up the surgery and he told me he doesn't do surgeries. (He is a specialist) He refers people. NO MORE DOCTORS!!! I'm sick of the run around. 21 years of this and I'm worse off now then I was then.

When I took Valium, it never made me sick, it just calmed me down.

I am on an opioid and that's why I'm not sure about taking it but dentist does know that. I know I wouldn't be able to take any medicine the day it would be done. Couldn't take any when I was put to sleep to have the teeth pulled but that was done with the IV sedation. He would keep doing the IV sedation but he is for trying to get people "calm" going to the dentist. Plus sedation costs a fortune. I'm more afraid I will get sick from the valium and it won't work at calming me and then nothing will be able to be done.

I have taken Valium in the past with no problems. HOWEVER, now that I am on pain meds (opioid) I can no longer take tranquilizers like Valium because of the sudden death issue. Good idea to talk it over with your doctors.

I had to have all my teeth pulled and a dentist could not get near me without me being knocked out. I don't know what he gave me but I was knocked out cold. I never had any problems with that. I did have problems with Tylenol with Codeine.

emoticon with Kris. You have to talk to your Dr. not just the dentist. The dentist should know all medications you are on.

I have. Dentist wants me to take it so I can get my teeth taken care of. Had to be put to sleep so he could pull 3 and before he ends up pulling all of them he said people who are to terrified going to just sit at the dentist they take valium with great results. I basically have a fear of everything I guess but I have had awful problems with pills and side effects.

You need to have this discussion with your Dr and/or Psychiatrist. It is YOUR health (all aspects of it including other medications you are on) which determines what is prescribed to you, and they are the ones to determine this.

Good luck,
Kris

Has anyone used it and had no problems? I googled it and all the side effects it has are just to scary for me. Plus it says not to take with pain meds (opiods) which I take. Says taking them both together can cause sudden death. I have an awful time with side effects and medicines.
