You know if it is NOT there you can't stray. Staying away from salty and sweet's for just 2 weeks; you will just lose the craving. Mark your calendar and 2 weeks will go quick you'll see that it no longer control's your life .

I am doing great! (Did I mention I am bipolar.) this afternoon I felt pretty crummy. But I am hanging in there and going with the flow little by little my ascension is upward.
I am still battling the weight I put on at Christmas. I put my foot down and eat good and then stray back. But I am not going all the way back. Hope everybody is well

Rainy day. But it is Sunday and we had a wonderful service. Lunch out with the family and managed to make deceit choices. A little walking despite the rain, time on the elliptical and now getting ready to head back to church and hopefully find a little time for reading.

Wishing everyone a blessed Sunday!

Hi everybody,

ZOOMZOOM1231, I hope that your weekend has been as stellar as the other day was for you. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers regarding your upcoming doctor's appointment for your thyroid testing. I will be praying for really good news and hope that you get that problem straightened around without too much trouble.

PINKMEOWCAT, I'm so glad that this team is making a difference in your life as you make your way through the journey! This is a great place to vent and glean support. We try to be there for everyone and I happen to agree with you that the team is a great sounding board for when you need to rant or if you need to celebrate. We value you as a member of this team. Thank you for your support and inspiration.

I am having a relaxing weekend so far. I have not been bored between setting up the new garden over at my son's house, watching Micah and reading my library books. Micah is enjoying playing with his baby cousin and playing outside while Grandma plays in the dirt. He will "help" me with weeding and garden up keep this summer. There isn't a whole lot that a three year old can do, but he can watch and learn about weeds. I have to get back to the library today, because I have four books to return and four more to check out. They are all part of the same series, so they have to be read in order. They have been waiting for me for almost a week, so I must get in to check them out before they return them to stock and I lose them again. The library is a pleasant half a mile hike from my house. I can get exercise when on my way to and from. I hope that you all are having a terrific weekend! You can't ask for better weather here for the next several days. The sun is shinning and the temperatures are in the 70's. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them!! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Hi all,

LINDAM.1 - I hope that you feel better soon.

Today was beautiful. The sun is shinning and it is in the 70's. Just got home from babysitting Hayden and now it is time to relax. Reading is my current past time. I've got three of the Lucas Davenport novels by John Sanford to finish before next week. He is one of my favorite authors, This afternoon is made for a good book by the window after my walk around the neighborhood just to stretch my muscles. Babysitting is not hard, but I am tired when I get home and my walk re energizes me. Sending out positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb

Hi all,

Things have been pretty wet around here, but that is supposed to end tomorrow. The weather is supposed to change to sun and temperatures are supposed to rise into the 70's by the end of the week. I absolutely love sunny, temperate days. I am so excited. I have been keeping busy by watching all my grandsons since Easter. I watch baby Hayden for my son and daughter in law two days a week, although this week I am watching him four days, Blaine is at Sam's house two days a week and of course I live with Micah. I love being a grand mother and spoiling all three of my boys. Since I live in an apartment with no place for even a plant, I am starting a garden at my son's house this year. The two older grandsons will help me with it once it takes off. I am looking forward to having tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and other fresh vegetables this summer. Sending out positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb

Hi everybody,

I hope that everyone is looking forward to their weekend. We have a family barbecue that we will attend tomorrow in the afternoon. The weather is supposed to cooperate and be really nice. I am hoping for sunshine and temperatures in the 60's or the 70's. The rain is supposed to return for Easter Sunday, however. I did get to the gym yesterday and found that I really like my new Spark Activity Tracker. It has been so long since I have been able to count my steps. I lost my pedometer before Christmas and just never replaced it until I decided to try this device. It works really well so I am happy with my investment so far. Happy Easter to all!! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

Hi Onicam, I'm sorry that you have to redo your homework and that you've had such a tough day at work. It is hard when you are going to school and work at the same time. My daughter did that for years and it wore her out. Be sure to take good care of you, so that you don't burn out.

Hi Kelly48647, Congratulations on the new doctor and the fabulous visit. It is so important and nice when we can communicate well with our health care providers.

Today was normally my day to take care of baby Hayden for my son, but Sam is staying home from work today and no longer needs me to come by and help. So, I guess that I will go to the gym an extra day this week and see how well my Spark Activity Tracker works. I just got it in the mail yesterday and I have just started to use it. So far I like it and it certainly helps keep me accountable. I may go to the library today too once the housework is done. I need some new reading material. I hope that everyone is having a great week and that April has started out to be a great month. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

I met with my new doctor on Tuesday, and so far so good. He has adjusted a couple of my medications so far, although he says he doesn't want to change too much at once. He changed a few things and wants to see how this works out for me first, then when I go back next month he will run some tests and see how I'm doing, then make more adjustments as needed.

It was nice to see a doctor who actually took the time to listen to what I had to say rather than just rush through the visit so he could get me out of the office quickly and move on to the next patient while I still have unanswered questions.

Hi Onicam, Congratulations on acing your school work! You may be retaining water or have put on muscle mass and that could account for your weight gain. I hope that everything has worked out well for you at work since your supervisor has been gone. I'm sorry that you are having sleep issues and I hope that they will be resolved soon. Getting adequate rest is important - for studies, as well as for work and generally feeling good.

Hi Goanna2

It is raining and generally gray today. I have just received my Spark Activity Tracker and I am really excited to see how well it works. I should have gone to the gym this morning, but I didn't have the tracker then. I will test it out around the house, since it is raining outside and I am not walking in the rain. I don't know - are these things water resistant for days when you run or walk in the rain? That might be a good question for the Spark Activity Tracker Team wall or in one of the Forums. I am babysitting little Hayden tomorrow who will be 4 months old this month on the 12th. He is such a good little baby. It is a joy watching him. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Happy April 1st all! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon emoticon

I am not sure how I gained weight when I am on track with the food except when I didn't quite eat enough for breakfast when the depression hit. I am slowly getting the program stuff done, but I Aced the Health class and the first grade for the Transition to the Unified English Braille was a B. I am still struggling with my sleep and is working still. My supervisor will either be gone starting this coming week or the next week and since there is a volunteer she wants me to be there on a different day since there isn't quite enough for both at certain times and she can't change her schedule.

Hi everyone,

Onicam, I am sorry that your depression is affecting you right now. I know that you have struggled with fluids for a long time. I hope that the weather improves for you soon and that your leg feels better.

JWHEELER05, I hope that your doctor's appointment went well for you. I said a little prayer for you as I read your post. Hopefully you will have your medication and can start to feel much better very soon.

Hi Miller, I liked your post on the friend feed this morning. It's nice to know that you are smiling a lot these days.

KELLY48647, I hope that your doctor's appointment goes well for you too. There is nothing worse than meds that are not working properly and need to be readjusted. Good luck!

I have to go into my psychiatric clinic today and take a class for an hour and a half. It is a sort of punishment for missing an appointment earlier this month. Anyone who misses an appointment without 24 hours notice has to take this class before they can receive their counseling sessions again. My car had the gear shift go out on it the day that I was supposed to get in to see my therapist and they make no exceptions - emergency or not. So, I will go to the class today so that I can make a therapy appointment again. Then it is back to the psychiatrist on Thursday for a medication review. There are some changes that have to be made to my meds, so that is a good thing. So far Spring break has been great for the kids. They are having fun and so is Grandma. It would be nice if the rains would go away. I think that by tomorrow they will be dissipating at long last. These kids could really use some serious outdoor time. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Have a great rest of the week!! Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

Good Morning-

So today is the day! after about 10 years I'm going back to the doctor to (hopefully) get back on medication.

I really hope, having gone through this before, that they wont decide to wait on medication. I'm seeing a new doctor (new insurance) and I fear that might be a possibility! If it was my first time seeing someone about my depression/anxiety, I could understand waiting to see if therapy helped prior to meds - but I've done the whole therapy thing and the meds really did help.

Wish me luck! Unfortunately I have all day at work to think about it emoticon

Hi all. This past week has been filled with some good (not great) days and some not so great days. Thankfully, nothing super low but I will admit I am excited for my doctor appointment on Tuesday! Looking forward to getting back on medication for depression and getting back to feeling more normal.

Hi Onicam, You sound as if you have been super busy. We've missed hearing from you. Wow 43 pounds is a great deal of weight! Congratulations on losing so much. That is impressive. You are certainly an inspiration. emoticon emoticon

Hi SWEETONE111, I hope that you fared well on your trip and that you were able to get to and from safely in the lousy weather that some have had. I hope that you were able to use your tennis shoes. Ten minutes of exercise is beneficial no matter what you do, so what you've read on the boards is true. Combining three ten minute intervals throughout the day is as effective as doing 30 minutes of exercise all at once. I hope that the exercise helped you from becoming too stressed out due to work and made the trip more enjoyable.

We are starting off the Spring break with a quiet weekend at home. It is raining outside and looks miserable out there. Micah and I are playing alphabet games on his favorite website . I am trying to keep him occupied since it is so dreary outside. My daughter is suffering from the stomach flu, so Grandma is babysitting which I would be doing if she were working anyway. I guess it is a weekend meant for staying indoors and watching movies on DVD or Netflix. I am going to drop by the library later on to return my most recent check outs. I'm not feeling terribly ambitious this weekend. I can't get to the gym, so the treadmill will have to wait until Jeni is feeling better. Hopefully, I will be able to go tomorrow. I have to buy a new stability ball on Monday, since Micah has punched a hole in mine by jumping up and down on it. I hope that all are having a great weekend and that it is a good beginning to a wonderful Spring vacation. Sending positive energy and hugs to all that need them. Take care and God bless, Deb emoticon

I have been super busy and is still very busy these days. I have been doing house work, home work, part time job, and 2 programs. I have also just recently gotten new glasses and is learning the UEB Braille which is what it is being changed to by January. I have lost 43 pounds from my highest weight.

It's pretty late but I thought I'd read some posts from others before bed. It's good motivation. I have to be up in less than 4 hours for a flight. And I have a stressful few days ahead of me on a business trip. Work Stress is definitely a trigger for me - combined with fatigue and it usually means a lot of emotional eating and shutting out everything else to get through the work day. I packed my running shoes so I can to get 10 mins if exercise here and there over the next few days. From what I read on the boards to really helps.

I hope everyone had a good St patty's day!

SMALLVILLEFAN, I'm sorry your Mom doesn't understand. Depression does make things seem very pointless sometimes - I struggle with that a LOT.

If it helps, one trick that some of us here on the team use to get chores done is to do it in very small increments. Like on a bad day, I'll get the dishes done by just washing a few during TV commercials. Or I'll work on the laundry for a few minutes every time I finish reading a chapter in my book. An outsider would probably not understand (they'd probably think I'm lazy), but a person with depression would get it.

Sometimes we just can't get things done all at once like other people can. A small chore can feel like climbing a huge mountain. Doing chores in little bits really does add up and when it's done, I feel I've accomplished something.

Hope this helps.

So I'm 24 and still live at home with my mom. She is the best, but sometimes she just doesn't understand what I'm going through. Like some days, when I have had a bad one and feel really down, she gets upset that I didn't wash the dishes. She doesn't understand that depression is really intense at times and doing dishes seems so pointless when life seems pointless.

Hi! I haven't posted in so long because with the weather I've been "off-line" with a lot of things. But right now I feel good. I stuck to good eating all day (l've put on 8 lbs, I was "off line with my diet too) I agree that we can do things a little at time. That is one of the reasons I am feeling good; after struggling to do it for a long time I am finally living one day at a time

TLE1103, welcome to the team. I'm sorry to hear you struggle so much with pain - I hope the doctors can get the pump adjusted so you can get some relief. It's good to hear that exercise helps your mood - it does for me, too. It's the getting started that I sometimes find difficult.

NITROUS87 Congratulations on being offered a job - that's great news!!

KECHARA14 - I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so down. I hope things get better and brighter for you soon.

I've been struggling to do anything other than what I absolutely must lately, but today I made myself take on a task I've been putting off. I got it done by doing it in small increments. I feel a sense of accomplishment now so I'm glad I did it.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their week.

I was doing pretty well on Monday, but for the last two days, I have been feeling very down and depressed. Not sure if its the weather, the stress at work or what, but I hope I can break out of it soon. I hate feeling like this and do not feel very productive. Sorry, I just needed to vent a little. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Hello everyone! I was struggling for a bit, but I just have to brag about how much my life has taken off in the last day! I've been going to school for a while now (9 years total) to become a mental health or AODA counselor, and over that time period I've been rejected from so many jobs because I didn't have experience or enough education or whatever. I've been doing an internship since January this year at a halfway house for federal inmates, doing AODA counseling. My supervisor has been really impressed with how well I've been catching on to things, and has been talking about trying to get a position made for me part-time when I graduate in August. I've been stoked about it, but in a way it still felt a little like a rejection.

Well, yesterday everything turned around! One of the counselors here was let go (which was a sad situation, but a long time coming), and I have been offered employment to take his position! I don't know yet if I'll be starting at 20 or 30 hours a week, but the offer of employment is already in the works, and was approved earlier this morning by the executive director! I have been so happy with how things are progressing, and it's been so fast to happen, I've been a bit overwhelmed. But I finally made it, and I haven't been happier since my BF first told me he loved me :)

Good evening everyone. I am new to this team. I struggle with depression and chronic pain. I have a pain pump and the doctors are trying to get the medication adjusted correctly so I will not be in so much pain. My weight, depression and pain all form a vicious cycle that I find myself in. I have been exercising either in the pool or on my stationary bike. Both of these activities seem to lift my mood. I look forward to getting to know some of you. Have a wonderful evening!

Hello everyone. I am jealous Deb that you are seeing signs of Spring. I will have to wait till late April or May. We are not currently worried about flooding, but having trouble with avalanches. Since this weekend is going to be a beautiful weekend I think a lot of people will be going skiing and the news is already warning people to be careful where they go skiing.
