It's Tuesday today and since I did not get on here yesterday this is what I did I did the BL Fitness Program out of their book and did 44 minutes on the bike/eliptical. Today I did 43 Minutes on the bike/eliptical.Since it is now midnight my time the plans for later today is the BL Fitness Program for sure and I have not decided on the form of cardio yet. emoticon

I work out at home five or six days a week, but still keep my gym membership. We don't have cable, so I'll occasionally go to the gym (it's open 24 hours a day during the week) if I want to do some mindless cadio and watch mindless television. (I watched part of the VP debate there this week, lol!) This particular gym is only about two years old, so it's still in good repair and clean, and I love that the hot water never runs out -- it's the only place I ever take looong showers. A friend of mine who lives sort of far away works near my home, and the gym is also nearby, so it's nice to be able to meet up there, too. I guess there are other reasons beside just whether you can get a thorough workout to "go to the gym."

I also think it depends if you like working with a crowd of other people in the room too. Personally I dread crowds so is another reason why I prefer to work out at home.

I have my own infrared sauna that I use every day and love it! Wow though, a pool would be nice but doubt I could afford the upkeep. We can always dream ....

You know you really do have a point about going to the gym because I do both...and I was trying to think what am I using at the gym that I can't do at home and at the moment nothing emoticon Everything I'm doing at the gym I could actually pop one of my dvds in and get the same workout...especially my step classes....So why do I go....I only thing I can't do at home because I just don't have it is the pool....and steam room....but other than that I could stay home....but I love doing the step with the girls that I've met at the gym...it's so much better then doing it alone...

I honestly can't understand why people need to go to a gym when there are just so many great exercises to do in the comfort and privacy of your own home. You can wear what you want and do what you want. No gym equipment to learn how to use either and I often wondered how often they disinfect the bits and pieces that sweaty people use every day. Give me working out at home every time! emoticon

Good morning everyone...did you workout today....I did...I'm so happy to see everyone chatting I love seeing whats going on with my fellow sparkers....I have to take my 14 yr old in to see the doctor and schedule for a second hip surgery in four months....I'm not like this I was hoping he would make it through to the summer months and not have to take off school days....but it doesn't look like the hip will make it to June...

I bought 4 new dumbbells today, 2 x 4 kilos and 2 x 5 kilos. A kilogram is 2.2 pounds... so 8.8 lbs and 11 lbs in imperial weights.

I now have 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 kilo dumbbells, so I am pretty well set now. emoticon

I can't wait for weigh in on Friday. Gee I hope I've dropped some as have been trying very hard this week with exercise and diet.

My new weekly diet regime is 2 x 20 hour fasts, 3 x 16 hour fasts, and no fasts for 2 days. If I increase my ST and walk a bit more I shall see results. I am determined to see results!

Good luck to all who are 'having a go' and making the effort to become healthy, fit, and thinner.

Tema, 6.4 lbs is awesome! Well done!

I got so tired of converting kilograms to pounds that I took the metric tick off the Sparkpeople settings and changed everything to pounds, then I realised that all my stuff here (Australia) is in kilos, so sent Tom (hubby) out to buy me a set of scales that show pounds. Woo Hoo, I'm set now!

I am in 2 challenges at the moment, walking 458 miles to Rivendell and the 5% challenge where I have pledged to lose 5% of my body weight in the next 8 weeks. I have decided to increase my 'fast' days to achieve this. Oh, I'm in the Eat Stop Eat Team too and is great!

My goodness! I'm glad I stopped by to check this thread of posts! I have been at a loss of what to do for workouts lately and you guys have given me a lot of great ideas, especially going through my workout DVDs. Thanks, Abrandnewme and IMREITE! i am going to challenge myself to do all my workout videos/dvds till the end of the year, there are about 50-60 different workouts. if there were any old ones i don't like i wil lgive them away.

Rheynklaw What week of the program did you get to before you stopped using it....I got thru week one and start week two tomorrow.....Also thanks for the info about the Z-Gliderz I'm going to look into that....my knees are terrible....

Rheynklaw - thank you for posting and telling us about the Z Gliderz! I like to Zumba at home but was going to hang it up because it was screwing up my knees something awful when I tried to do pivots or slides. I was wondering if I was wearing the wrong shoes or footwear. I was wondering how one can do the slides and pivots on the carpet without twisting your knees if the soles of the shoes kept catching and grabbing the carpet! Your post provided the answer I've been looking for! So, thank you so much!

I did most of Body Revolution (aka BR or JMRB) and enjoyed all but the first two weeks (kind of boring.) The reason I stopped was that I was in an out of town for about a month, without consistent access to a DVD player and my equipment. Then when things settled down, I had already committed to starting a new round of CLX and TurboFire, so I just moved on. It was a good program and I would do it again all the way through.

For those of you who like Zumba but have knee issues, have you tried Z-Gliderz (awful name!) or a similar product that allows your shoes to slide on carpet?

Not being able to pivot might be torquing your knees, so something like this will help you maintain safe alignment. Also, make sure to stretch your quads adequately, especially vastus lateralis (when it's tight, it can cause a deep, sort of biting pain behind the patella.)

Anyone else have the OLD-old Zumba videos with Giselle and Natalie? I do Exhilarate and have tried the previous version, but I still feel like the originals give the best workout, even if Beto's instructions are even more erratic and unhelpful than they are now. One thing I think is funny is that he appears to be trying to reverse-age, partly by association with better and better looking, more and more youthful cast members.

I might get BR from a friend soon! I love Jillian but am not sure if I'll stick to the entire weeks of the planned workouts. I get bored quickly if I only work out with one and the same instructor..
I've heard BR is really good though, so I look forward to trying it!

Right now I'm doing a FIRM rotation that I love! Especially the older ones with the box, awesome for the glutes! emoticon

She said she mostly does Chair Zumba dvd's. I have googled now and then went to youtube and searched and there's stacks in there. I love youtube as I convert stacks to .avis and burn them onto dvds for the telly. I have a telly in my exercise room and it's great!

Well Tema, I certainly put in a hard 45 minutes this morning with a hangover. Serves me right. But the exercise did me good as I am much better than my hubby now. He is really bad .. you see we rarely go out, rarely have alcohol and rarely have late nights.. and, weeeelllll...

I have the 4 original Zumba Fitness with the toning sticks and 7 of the Zumba Exhilarate! but tend to stay with the 45 cardio party one.. I really love that one. A Sparkfriend just commented on my page and said she does Chair Zumba, wow! I'm going to look into that as it may be the answer to my twisted knee problem.

I am a dedicated 'Work out at Home' person. I went to a gym once and had one session and hated it. I love my own company at home where I can make a fool of myself if I want to with no one hanging around to see me.

Wow Mel you're pretty active....I also have the challean extreme but only did about 3 weeks keep saying I will get back to it...don't quite know why I stopped I enjoyed it...I also like the zumba but have a bad knee so I'm slow and always behind with it...but still enjoy it....it's funny watching myself try and dance I've never been a dancer before wish I had....Zumba rocks...do you take the classes or the dvds....I did try a class one time and just couldn't keep up so I have the dvds

It's late Sunday afternoon here, as I live in Australia. I did 4 weeks of the Jillian Michael Body Revolution dvds and it was hard but excellent. I enjoyed doing it but also am very good at overdoing it as well. I sometimes do a few days of Chalean Extreme too but then settle for a few days of easier st, abs sculpt, or tai chi. I love Zumba but keep getting a twisted knee when I do that. Bwah!

My hubby and I had a big night out last night and are suffering tremendously today. More bwah! Self-inflicted and only time will help us I'm afraid. Too old for partying.

Happy Saturday everyone....how's it going....I'm having a great weekend so far and planning a family gathering tomorrow so I'm cooking right now....just popped on to read some emails and check in on some teams....I'm currently doing the Jillian Micheals Body Revelution right right....I like it and it's not as tough as I thought it would be at least right now the first week anyway but I heard it gets harder as you go on....

Has anyone ever tried Jillian Michaels Body Revolutions if so give me a quick review of what you liked about it....as you went further into the programs....well back to emails have a wonderful night everyone
