Thanks, Sara! And good luck to you on the clean eating thing. It DOES make you feel good. Imagine how great all the overweight/sedentary people would feel (I was one of them--still am o.w.) if they "ate clean" instead of ingesting all the processed/fast foods out there. They'd be AMAZED!!!

Way to go Sue - I know what you mean about the tasting thing. I bake for a seniors home, and you don't realize how many calories you eat when you sample this, or try that, or lick this finger, or that spoon. It seems there are calories everywhere - so I commend you on tiny tasting, and still feeling good about yourself.

I am in the process of Clean Eating, haven't switched over completely, but am on the right track. I have noticed that I feel better this week with making more of an effort to eat clean. I now take salads to work, eat small amounts more often, and drink more water there, and I do not sample the baking as much. When I'm tempted, I STOP - THINK of what eating that would mean, then WALK away, and let someone else put it on their hips!! (lol)

My goal is to have this household off all those processed foods, and eating healthier by my birthday. That is my birthday gift to myself. I have 2 months (may 31)

Well, I'm SOOOO excited! The past week I've done SO well; on spring break, so biked everywhere I needed to go & ate WONDERFULLY & was SO committed that I made a commitment not to go nuts in pastry class (I'm in culinary program). So even tho' I tasted several people's products (we're required to taste at least our own & partner's), it wasn't even 1/16 of a portion......I'm talking BARELY a taste & that was SO satisfying just being able to taste, not feeling deprived & not sick with sugar by the end of the class. What a VAST improvement over the past, & it proved I could actually do it! And based on the small bites, Iíll bet I didnít even have 150 calories altogether; still more than Iíd like, but much better. Making progress.... emoticon

if parents in America really cared about their kids health they would pack them lunch right after they watched this episode! but I know a lot of kids growing up that the school funded breakfast and lunch were the only meals they got, I don't want to see away with the public school system, especially since they provide FREE meals to kids whose parents are well below poverty, I just wish the would feed them better food. Kind of like WIC makes a big deal of eating healthy for expectant and new moms providing the food stamps to get that food with why is our lunch system so different?

I think Norway's got something......In grade school--a gazillion years ago, we walked home at lunch, jr high & high school took our lunches & bought a few times a month when they had fantastic, homemade meals!

I put off buying The Spark until I kept reading blurbs here & there & I'm SOOOO glad I did! Been part of SP more than 2 years, & in the first 10 pages of the book I learned a LOT!!! Sometimes it just helps to have info in book form. Sure helped me!

Hi, sorry about your back Annie, I don't wish that on anyone.

I watched that Jimmie guy on CNN the other night. I said very interesting...it would be great if the school lunch could get a complete turn around. I think the show starts next week, I am not sure, but I would like to watch it.

Ducky's having a bad time of it so be nice to her. I had the worst back spasm I've ever, EVER experienced last Tuesday evening and I'm still quite crippled from it. I can't sit here very long. I've been on the couch and on the floor for the whole day yesterday and looks like the same for today. (Read an awesome book though!) I hope to be better tomorrow.
Love you all.

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it's a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they're terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Anyone else love the EAT CLEAN HUMMUS as much a I do! OMgoodness! I will NEVER BUY HUMMUS from the store again! If you like hummus and you have never tried it , try Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Hummus! the Pumpkin Hummus is good too!

Don't wait until you "feel like it " to exercise, that only happens AFTER YOU ARE DONE! ( the first 10 minutes are the hardest, after that it gets easier to keep going)

I am starting to eat clean again today but off track for the last couple of months. I have made a 2 week menu goal. Starting with mainly the same foods that are easy to bring to work and get myself back on track then I will start the recipes etc. again. It is a great eating plan. Teri

LOL, after I posted yesterday my hubby asked for cookies. Awhile back I bought a bunch of cookie mixes for the family. So I made one, but cut the butter in 1/2 with unsweetened applesauce and added wheat germ. It cut the calories by about 30, not great but better. Then I had a serving which is two little cookies. The first cookies or anything like that , that I've had in 3 months! They were good and I was able to stop at 2 and be happy! :)

CHEAT!! We don't cheat on "eating clean" or do we??????

I am sure we will have those days, as long as we track the calories, I think that justifies it, don't you??

I messed up a little yesterday too, my husband bought lunch, and I was so tired that I didn't even care what he bought. But boy did my body not like it too much.

Day 2

Well I started the "eating clean" regimen. Added flaxseed to my oatmeal in the morning (without sugar), eating small meals more often, and drinking 16oz. of water before putting anything else in my mouth in the morning - These are some of the changes so far -

time to go have my second little meal, so will check in mon. or tues. and let you know how things are going.

Spacewomanzero, the answer to your question about milk being clean would only be if its organic. Anything without chemicals is what you want. Skim milk is even better.

Hi Georgi323,

I know you asked this question last month about organic meat, where to buy it. If you belong to Costco, they have it. An even leaner option is bison. Much lower in fat and better for you.
Good luck to you in Eating Clean!

Tacos were good - ate more veggies than meet, even though it was lean beef. Did not take as much sour cream or cheese as I would have liked to - but it was good. My husband took the left over meet, and lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream to work the next day and made a taco salad for his lunch, and he said it was good.
We used tostitos scoop chips with it, instead of the actual taco shell - this is how we like to eat tacos'.

Heading to the grocery store today to pick up some flaxseed, wheat germ, etc. Need to start incorporating this into my meals. Need to pick up some fresh veggies and fruit as well.

Have a great day everyone, and remember EAT CLEAN

For the meat you can use chicken or if using beef use the lean kind and can rinse the fat away. Watch the cheese, sour cream, and guac. Add lots of veggies and beans and I would think you would be good to have tacos!

Does anyone have input on how an avocado shake would fit into the eating clean lifestyle? I just discovered these incredible shakes, which can be altered so they can be eaten in dozens of different ways. The recipe: 1 avocado, 2/3 c milk, ice. Put all in a blender to frappe and viola!

KJs_Mom, I also just input my food. I looked at the SP meal planner but it's just not what's going on in my house. I've incorporated a lot of what Tocsa has in her books and try to very it day to do. So, it's just easier then swapping. I do find that I copy a meal from one day to another often, this helps.

Just joined this group - I have the book "Eating Clean" but have only glanced through it. Glad to see there is a group for this book, where we can go for advice and support.

I am going to do my best to incorporate "Eating Clean" into my life style.

I am from Ontario Canada, and am looking forward to connecting with other "Eating Clean" people.

i am presently making Tacos' for dinner, so not sure if this is considered "Eating Clean". So I might have to start the "Clean" part tomorrow, and just do the "Eating" tonight (lol)

Will check in tomorrow again, have a good evening.

For everyone that is using SP food tracker, are you putting in what you have eaten day by day or are you letting it make the menu for you and then you sub as needed?

I just joined the team today and I am already asking for some help from anyone interested. My 7 year old granddaughter is saving postcards from all over the world. So if anyone would like to get involved with this if you happen to have a child that would be interested it could be a penpal type thing also. If you are interested please send me a sparkmail and I will give you the address and information. She lives in southwestern Ontario Canada. Thanks Teri

I have done an awesome job this week with eating clean and making meals. This is my second week and I had to have mex food. I had a chicken taco salad no shelland a serving of corn chips and cheese dip. Best I could do and my tummy is bit upset I think I am turning!!!!!
