Normally, I would stuff my face with some sort of carbohydrate-laden snack to deal with it. Still hard trying to change that habit.

Lately, I've been using exercise and other coping techniques. For instance, yesterday was an extremely stressful day at work. I wanted to eat lunch at my desk, but forced myself to go to the cafeteria and take a 30 minute break to decompress.

I think so much of our society expects us to do more, better, faster - and sometimes we need to slow down. Placing the high demand of stress on us does nothing to help us lose weight, and from what I've read, contributes to the issue.

Exercise helps a great deal - and if I can't do that, walking away from the situation briefly helps me to recalibrate. I also love my yoga.

The only thing that matters is what you choose to be now. (Po, Kung Fu Panda 2)

Today, I talked to DH about a stressful situation I knew would happen with someone (which it did). I planned out how to handle it, and that helped me handle the stress.

Journal, talk to husband, glass of wine with a dirty movie, read a bunch of bad jokes (what do you call a cow with no legs? Ground beef!) or, if I'm really stressed and none of that seems to work, I bring out my trusty bubble machine and sit on the patio while surrounded with bubbles. That always works.

Usually talking to& seeing friends, exercising, meditating and journalling all help relieve my stress. This week they didn't. Maybe I just wasn't ready to let go/hadn't finished working through it?

Feeling a lot better this morning though :)

I love the coloring book idea. I think I would do puzzles if I had a place to lay it out and not have to look at it while it was waiting to be finished! Right now I am spending time on the community boards. Focusing on others instead of myself can be a real lifesaver. And praying.

Love all these suggestions and I will take them to heart as I've been feeling some extra stress lately. I like to get outside in the fresh air and listen to the birds even if it's just for a few minutes. I also like to listen to "Spa Suite" on Pandora.

I love painting fun designs on my nails. I usual check out cutepolish on youtube for ideas, but sometimes I do my own. This week for Memorial day I painted my left hand nails blue with stars and my right hand has red and white stripes on it. It's fun being creative and seeing all the cute designs you can create on your own.

I run with my dog. Allows me to think, and if those negative, worrying thoughts return, I can look down at him. His mannerisms crack me up, and he has a big happy grin on his face as he trots along beside me.

Another one has been to do Yoga. The deep breathing and stretching really help kick things down a notch.

Well, I'm working on transitioning from eating when I'm stressed to doing other things. I've recently discovered meditation, and I also like to listen to music as suggested before. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't but I'm slowly getting to the point that I can control it. Mind over matter!
