Strange day indeed. Nice that Isaac apologized. Aw young love and things that you think are so important.

I hear you about wrapping your ahead around something that needs to be done - why is it so hard sometimes.

The presents are all wrapped and under the tree. Found out that 2 of them that were suppose to be here yesterday will not arrive until next Thursday - so much for 2 day shipping. Luckily they were for 2 different daughters and they will understand.

Today just tiding up and food prepping and then 24 crazy hours of fun at my house.

Dorothy~Let the fun begin!

I believe that this drama has definitely held Maegann back and caused so much of her physical issues. Her anxiety level has decreased so much since leaving high school.

It's been a strange day here. Started with an extremely defiant Isaac that escalated his dad's frustration because of the way Isaac was treating me and his sister. I got Maegann out of the house for a time and once we were back things were calmer and we actually got sincere apologies. Then I ended up running a couple errands that I did not want to do because of the traffic...you know...last weekend of Christmas shopping traffic. I had planned on updating finances, but just couldn't get my head wrapped around it. Next up was another "fight" with Maegann and Michael. I could tell he wasn't over the top angry with her so I'm sure he will be back to pick her up for the family Christmas party as planned, but she wasn't so sure as he never said "I'll be back for you." But, she wasn't budging from being upset with him for not validating her emotions regarding something and instead making her feel judged. Each time I wonder if it will be the last of it, but as Tim says.... "He always comes back." LOL

She is growing up and getting confidant -it sounds like. I think the drama is what was causing so many of her problems. It is not healthy for anyone - especially if you are sensitive as she is. Some people thrive on it, I think Maegan would soak up the negativity and it would make her ill - hopefully she will eventually learn to shield herself from it so it does not affect her. It is hard to learn how to do it but she is strong and she will figure it all out. I think it is nice that she has been reconnecting with some old friends.

So I am going to get busy wrapping and figuring out a grocery list for this morning - I went to aldis yesterday but they do not carry everything that I need.

My family will arrive late tomorrow afternoon and our festivities will begin - so looking forward to spending time with them all.

I did my wrapping, cleaning and groceries today as well. Totally agree about friends without the drama! Michael found out she was texting another guy friend who was back in town from the military and got upset because "he tried to steal you away from me". Riley was SO MUCH FUN when they were "an item" last school year and I'm glad they have connected. Maegann is beginning to care less and less about Michael's jealousy when she hangs out or talks with her friends...guys and girls. Hmmmmm Maybe things are changing....

Groceries after work today and finish wrapping, cleaning and some painting tomorrow.

Dorothy~Glad you got to spend time with your friend and with Michael.

I had another quiet day. Maegann actually went out to a coffee shop to hang out with a friend she has made at work so that gave me a few hours of complete quiet.

Janet - hahaha - I get that.

Yesterday was a good day - went and saw my spiritual frind - never get to spend enough time with her. And got to talk with Michael a bit this morning before he went off to work. Now to see what else today brings. Right now its time for me to get ready to go out the door,

I'm in good company with the "get what you get" gifting then! LOL

Not much going on here today. I did do one load of laundry, my knee stretching & icing which came with a nice nap (I was freezing from the icing being on my leg the entire nap.) and now I should be writing up Isaac's plan renewal, but Sparking sounded more fun.

Janet - those sales are usually the best and hopefully they make it. I asked for advice from one of my daughters and never heard back so same as you - she gets what she gets - hahahaha!

Luckily all went well with my frind but sure was a long day sitting around - something I am not good at but should be a pro at..

Not sure what today will bring - we shall see.

Dorothy~I do hope you get to spend time with Michael while he is home. Nice that you were able to support your co-worker today. Thyroid check...I actually need to get a new doctor as mine has closed up shop as of tomorrow afternoon. I've been putting it off and just made sure my meds were refillable. I will definitely just find someone nearby as those trips to downtown Boise took too much time. 40 minutes each way for a 15 minute appointment.

Quiet day here for me and I didn't care a bit that I was a slug. I think the busy and emotionally exhausting days have caught up with me.

Got the last of my Christmas items ordered for shipment. I'd been waiting on Tim to help figure out what to do for his sister and his brother, but he never did offer ideas so I went with my own from Harry & David. Love the final day of "will get there by Christmas" sales! I also ordered the kids' "Santa" gifts and they will be here Friday.

I am going with my co worker/friend today - she has to have some skin cancer removed from her face and then we will do a bit of shopping if she is up to it.

Michael is home for the next 2 weeks - wondering how much I will actually see him.

Janet - it never hurts to have it checked.

Hope dinner turned out well.

Dorothy~Glad you are getting that painting finished. I am beginning to wonder if my thyroid level is off too.

I've had a calm day and am just finishing up here and then I'll go make supper although nobody is home yet. Isaac's at the team dinner for another hour, Tim will be home whenever (fencing) and Maegann gets of in about 30 minutes. Tomorrow should be very quiet too with nothing extra on the schedule. Maegann will be home unless she needs to go in to cover for someone.

Dorothy~This is how tired I am... I could not figure out what pee and poo had to do with an ugly Christmas sweater with a bulldog on it! LOL

Our time with friends was very fun last night and I was very relieved that nobody wanted to go walk in the wind and cold to look at lights after all. I love doing that, but just wasn't feeling up to it yesterday. Glad I wasn't the one asking not to do it!

Worship was so good this morning and now I'm enjoying football while Sparking. Maegann's at work (10-4 to cover for someone and then 5-8:30 scheduled), Isaac's hanging out in his room and Tim's working on the soffit on the shop. Dogs are keeping me company.... well.... sleeping in the same room.

Tomorrow should be calm as I only have one small errand of going to the bank and pharmacy. Maegann works at 2 and Isaac has basketball after school so I will have about 4 hours to myself.

I painted part of my upstairs bathroom yesterday and hope to get a second coat on today and also got part of the hallway painted. Glad that is done. Now to work on getting Michael's bedroom painted.

My youngest daughter and her boyfriend came into town yesterday for an ugly Christmas sweater party. I got to keep the Bull dog and work up to pee and poo - gotta love those old dogs - ugh! Luckily I do not have rugs down stairs any more.

I bet it was odd being at the old company Christmas party - glad Tim was able to get a new job.

Dorothy~So glad the party was fun! I need to do meal planning again myself. Maybe tomorrow while I'm watching football.

I have had so much paid work the past two days that I put SP on hold other than tracking and a few threads now and then. The evenings have been full as well so it has been too late to be online. We had a Christmas party last night with the previous company and it was very odd getting a company Christmas photo and Tim not being part of it. He's happy he is gone though as everyone he talked with said "we just don't have very much work".

Today I've been getting laundry finished and chose to catch up on SP instead of start working on Isaac's spending plan. I will get it done easily this week.

Dorothy~Maegann is enjoying all things NOT high school. She was disappointed that she isn’t scheduled until Sunday and they are working her into the full-time schedule slowly.

I had a massage this morning and she did help loosen things up, but by late morning my right hip was so stiff I couldn’t hardly stand up. Not sure what caused that, but I sat on a heating pad for a while and took ibuprofen. It’s better, but still sore.

Isaac’s IEP meeting went well and he does qualify for special ed support. It’s all about the social aspect of his life as academically he’s doing great. I was told that his homeschool education/work was exceptional as he scored high in areas that most with autism don’t reach. That was SO nice to hear as I often wondered if anything was getting through to him.

I did cancel my dental cleaning though as I’d had enough and just wanted to be home.

Dorothy~You will like the movie once you watch it! Yes, Maegann likes her new job. Once she is through the training phase she will have more hours. She will know today whether she is on her own now or not.

I finished up the work that I had to get finished and decided to take a break by Sparking before working on more. I think I will go do my stretches and ice first though so it doesn't get lost today.

Dorothy~Busy Christmas events this week for you! We have the ACS dinner on Friday night (previous employer) and then have friends coming over Saturday night for dinner and then we will go to the Caldwell River Walk for the lights. I hope the headache disappears for you with the help of a stronger med.

Kohl~My heart is heavy for you as this is familiar ground for me. So thankful her friend "turned her in" so that your daughter received help. Sorry that your DH is still in denial, but you are right that with the medical staff behind your thoughts, with time he should come around a bit.

Isaac felt better today and made it through school, basketball practice and the team dinner afterwards. He's resting tonight.

Maegann was off work today, but Michael picked her up after 3 so they could hang out for a couple of hours before he needed to attend a choir event. She works from 11:30-2:30 tomorrow--last day of full training.

I took a nap first thing which helped me get through a ton of paid work I still have more to do, but the bulk of it is done. Couldn't believe how much piled up over the weekend! I did watch a couple of Hallmark Christmas movies while I worked once I got to the stuff that didn't require much thinking.

Tonight Maegann turned "Maleficent" on to watch and I am taping the Christmas show that is on NBC to watch later.

Khol - my heart goes out to you and your family - you are wise not to take the situation lately. You are very lucky she had a friend that called instead of ignoring it. Glad she is home with you for the rest of the semester. Sometimes I think men would just rather have there heads in the sand.

Left work early as my head was pounding - went to the drug store and talked to the pharmacist - I came home with Alleve D - right now I can feel it ever so slightly and it is about time for another dose - so I think I am good to go.

Janet — Glad you had a good time in Sun Valley with Tim.

Dorothy — A little bit of everything amounts to something! I had that type of day, too. So sorry about the headache.

The Festival of Lights was grand. It could have been grander in my eyes but I was filled with worry instead of joy at the time. D14 was starting to feel ill in the late afternoon but still wanted to perform if at all possible and D19 called to say she might not be able to make it to sing in the concert just as I was about to take a shower beforehand. I handed the phone to my husband and had him handle the drama. I had enough of my own with wondering if D14 would be well enough to stand in the risers.

Well it turns out a friend of D19 was worried about something she had said that morning and told an RA. Campus Safety came to her dorm room and asked if she was okay. She wouldn't say she was fine so they drove her to the hospital. Once there she couldn't leave until evaluated by a doctor and a mental health professional. So as I was doing singing warm ups I did not yet know the whole story. My husband said they would try to make it to the concert but her discharge time was less than half an hour before the start of the concert. I looked out in the audience at the start of the show and saw D22 and D11 sitting together but no husband. The women's chorus entered and D19 was not with them like I feared. A minute or two later I saw her walk in with my husband and sit down in the audience.

It was recommended by the mental health professional that she not perform that evening. It is finals week and she is doing well with all of that. She is to go to her exams and jury on campus but to stay with us overnight until the semester is over. She is to follow up later in the week with both our family doctor and the mental health professional she spoke with at the hospital.

That's a lot to take in. I'm glad my husband was the available one to deal with the issue because he is the one that tends to deny the existence of a real problem. At least several health professionals are backing up what I've thought for a long time. She needs help. He seems caught in denial stage. He thinks she just needs to man up. Hopefully he will soften a bit. Please pray for all of us. She needs our encouragement not our strife.

Today I took her to campus and drove back home. Then I did homeschooling with D11. I also began to straighten up the area of the living room in which we plan to set up the Christmas tree. I did lot of dishes and laundry, and made dinner, too. Then I drove to campus to pick her up. Once home I had her make a to do list for the remainder of the week and to prioritize the items. Tonight she is doing preliminary work for three assignments. Then we will both hit the hay!

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

Dorothy~Sorry about the headache. I need to do some sewing tomorrow..some buttons on a couple of shirt collars so Maegann can wear them as "oxford" shirts for work and then a couple pairs of pants that need some seam reinforcement.

Well, no massage for me today after all. I had to reschedule for Thursday as the therapist had a family emergency this morning. Worked out well as Isaac ended up coming home with a sick stomach. Didn’t get much done other than laundry and getting the finances done. Tomorrow I will deal with the paid work.

Janet - the massage sounds delightful.

So happy to hear that the kids did ok - so weird how they are all grown up - where has the time gone??

Yesterday was another of those weird days where I did a little bit of everything, I did a lot of painting at the rental, sorted out 2 sewing baskets - now I am down to one very organized one, and sewed buttons on my jackets as I finally found a packet of needles. I had to take buttons off of 2 of my jackets and move them farther over as the coats did not hang right the way they were on there - weird. Had a massive headache yesterday so I layed down really early and took a little nap until Michael left and then I went to bed. I still have it today - I am waiting to see if it subsides at all.

Dorothy~Bookwork on schedule for me tomorrow. And yes, the kids did great.

We went to the first service today and then went out for a nice breakfast. I then watched football (Eagles/Cowboys was a great game) and worked on our family calendar, the weekly meal plan and grocery order, organizing my paid work for tomorrow and now Sparking while watching a Christmas movie. (A Christmas Prince)

I have a 90 minute massage first thing tomorrow and it is soooo needed!

Kohl~Cute cards with the button theme! Enjoy Christopher Robin!

Dorothy~My guess is the SP problems had something to do with all the people being blocked out receiving email notifications for an entire day too. An upgrade that went wrong?

I just finished blogging about the Sun Valley trip (lots of pictures) so won’t repeat it here as it is getting late. Short version though…SO MUCH FUN.

Dorothy — Same trouble! Don't know why but ever since the "Experience the best version of SparkPeople with Premium" banner showed up I've had to post, leave the page, and come back to see if it posted. Otherwise I would click over and over and have to delete. Wonder what's up?

Saturday was yet again a theatre day. We are all waiting for D22 to get home from working a show so we can watch the movie Christopher Robin with her. Tomorrow D19, D14, and I will be singing in the Festival of Lights in the evening.

Khol - they are beautiful. Very talented girls.

Janet - hope all is well on the home front and on your trip.

Got new tires on my van yesterday - I had a terrible time last winter with my tires - do not want a repeat. Merry Christmas to me!

I have been having a hard time the last couple of days on spark people. - My spark classic start page will not load the feed and just now when I tried to post on the wall I hit post and nothing - so I kept hitting post. Gave up and went to huddle - came back and I was posted like 20 times on the wall - luckily I was able to delete them. Anybody else having any issues. At first I thought it was my computer but when I tried to bring up the start page at work it was the same thing.

Michael decided to wait until morning to come home - the roads out in Erie are nit the best - wise choice.

Thought you might like to see a few of the cards the girls designed/sewed.

Janet - safe travels. Glad the first days went well for both.

Got some groceries last night - not sure what tonight will bring.

Nice that all of us are having somewhat quieter days right now for December.

New job day went great for both. We will definitely be leaving the kids home as Maegann needs to stay for training and Isaac has basketball practice and games. We will leave about 9 in the morning tomorrow and then be back on Saturday about noon.

I did get "my" things caught up today so I can leave it all behind tomorrow. Not sure if I'll take my laptop or not so may not be around until Saturday night or Sunday.

Janet — Leaving the kids behind would seem weird. Anything new when it comes to the kids getting more independent can seem that way.

Dorothy — Do you like the quiet? I know what you mean...kinda like the three little kittens.

It's been a milder and lighter day for me. I was done with homeschooling by lunch after listening to the girls take turns reading Genesis 29 and helping D14 with one subject and D11 with three.
Caught up on all the laundry my husband unpacked and mailed the Christmas cards out.

Janet that is usually what happens when I do not make it to the thread - usually for me it is just that I have run out of time.

Wow - it does seem odd leaving the kids at home - how did that happen??

Good luck to Maegann on her first day at the job and Tim as well. Lots happening in your household,.

Been very quiet here this week - almost the calm before the storm. emoticon

Sorry I haven't made the chat thread for a few days. I wouldn't find my self near Spark until 9:30pm or later each day this week and was just too tired to catch up on everything.

Sounds like Kohl takes the "Busiest Mom" award for the week! Lots of fun things though.

Dorothy~Hate in when the batteries are dead in those candles when new. Seems to be a common thing though.

I spent most of this day on client budget reviews, resting and trying to keep Maegann's nerves from getting the best of her. Starting to feel nervous about day one and she doesn't go in until 3:30 tomorrow. I let her go over to Michael's for several hours after he was done at school just to let her get a break from the house.

Tim starts his new job tomorrow as well and then Friday morning we are off to Sun Valley. Appears we are leaving the kids home because of Maegann's need to be here for two days of training and Isaac's basketball practice and games. We will be home Saturday afternoon so they should be fine. Just seems VERY odd.

Khol - hope hubby arrived safely with the pizza. And the rest of the day went as planned.

Hope you enjoyed the piano recital as well.

I bought some new batteries fro my candles and they did not work - I though it was the candles but I bought new ones and realized it was the batteries??

Dorothy — I have a half hour lull in my day to do some Sparking. Then I will be hopping again!

We had a great homeschool brunch at our friend's house this morning. Now I'm waiting for my husband who should be here within the hour. He's bringing home a pizza for the four of us to eat together before I take the younger girls to theatre and pick up D22 from the theatre to come home for her share of the pizza.

Tonight is the honor's recital. She and another boy are piano performers. Way back we used to go to the same church as him (when they were both 5!) so it will be interesting to see him all grown up. There are two others performing both she does not know who they are or what instrument(s) they will be playing. It inside that she is closer to home so we can go to more of these events.

Khol - you are a busy mommy. Right now I am in a very quiet mode and I like it - nothing going on anywhere - but Christmas is fastly approaching so the calm will not last long.

Hope hubby gets home sarfely and all goes well with your day.

Dorothy — Nice that you could fix what needed fixed. That always feels good.

Just got word that my husband is en route to here from his dad's house. He'll stop over for the night at my son's which is more than halfway of the trip. He's planning on arriving tomorrow evening for the honors recital that D20 is performing in. Midmorning tomorrow I'm going with D14 & D11 to a homeschool brunch at a friend's house. In the late afternoon they have theatre rehearsals. Then we will all go to the recital. So my day is pretty much already planned. I just have to go with the flow.

Janet - my daughter went through a spurt where all she wore was shorts,

The jail scene was super cute,

Khol - I could have raked as well here yesterday - 50 and sunny. But I got projects fixed that have been sitting around to be fixed. That felt good.

Tried to sew some buttons on my coat yesterday and I could not find a sewing needle - making me crazy - and i have 2 sewing boxes. Guess I better organize those next. I know i have one a spool of thread that has a needle in it but I an not find that either emoticon

Dorothy — You definitely are plugging away! I plugged away outside today with raking and getting leaves out of our detached garage's gutters and the window wells. The inside is suffering but I'll leave that for another day.

Janet — They definitely do learn from their choices. My two youngest often don't like to bring along a coat just in case.

Pretty mellow around here today. This evening D11 and D14 have had their noses in books and D22 is finishing up the last few Christmas cards. I made hamburgers for dinner and washed the dishes. I think I'll do an online crossword puzzle and call it a night.

Dorothy~I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I loved the jail scene. I always regret leaving the receipts, etc. over a week. Sounds like you are making progress on the organization project.

I'm watching football this afternoon while Sparking and fielding texts regarding clothing purchases as the rest of the family is at Savers. Tim found his semi-formal needs, Maegann found uniform needs and Isaac refused to buy pants so he will just have to wear shorts this winter. At some point we just stop fighting with him when he is so resistant. Natural Consequence.

Once they are home Isaac's friend Nate will be over for a few hours and Maegann is going to Michael's. Me...a warm fire is coming up...

Khol - I hear you on living room being a dumping ground - Our entry room was a dumping ground for hubby and the living room looked like his dorm room. I moved all of his stuff into the entry room which is now his main cave and blocked that front door - luckily we have 2 front doors so now am using the other one which enters into the living room but it is now nice and tidy. Lets see if it stays like that.

I need to work on check books today - and entering in receipts - I do not know why I let so much time pass in between.

Janet - I watched the Christmas Chronicles yesterday - it was very cute and i enjoyed it.

I hope you enjoyed family game night and church goes smoothly this morning.

I actually got hubby's room some what organized yesterday - well - I got clothes put away which was huge - he just has so many boxes and bins of stuff - I would not even know where to start with all of that stuff - I have attempted before but he seems to like things every which way. He has an entire closet just full of shirts - I think I am going to have to start weeding. I gave my son 2 of his jackets as he has probably has a dozen jackets - ugh! Well - I have a lot of winter jackets because I like to switch them up every day at work - lol - but I do wear them - he does not,.

And i started in the spare room as well - I have about 4 totes of stuff in there that I have to sort through. I also have been trying to sort through Christmas stuff as I have an excess of it.I just keep plugging away.

Kohl~Here is the written “plot” of the movie: “The story of sister and brother, Kate and Teddy Pierce, whose Christmas Eve plan to catch Santa Claus on camera turns into an unexpected journey that most kids could only dream about.” It has been billed as one that could easily open in a movie theater as it is done that well. Being in “Mamma Mia” would be SO fun! Have fun decorating!

Dorothy~That is odd to have the TSH levels swap. Glad you caught it early (I’m guessing.) to avoid the radiation procedures for hypo-. Spare rooms – Counter tops = dumping grounds! LOL

I am glad I chose to attend the Embrace Grace baby shower this morning. Good to see how the ministry works and those girls were just overwhelmed with the amount of gifts and love being poured out on them and their unborn babies.

Right now finishing up some Sparking while waiting on Tim to be done showering and ready to play games as it is Family Game Night. Looking forward to church and football tomorrow.

Janet — What's the gist of Christmas Chronicles? My interest is peaked.

Dorothy — We lacked a spare room for the longest time so the living room was the dumping ground here. We now have our living room back because I insisted on it before Thanksgiving!

We are having torrents of cold rain today. I know I was out in it!

During theatre rehearsals I entered a stack off receipts into the checkbook for my husband, read my devotion, and talked to one of the theatre's young directors who was homeschooled. She had just auditioned for Mamma Mia. She feels she is a jack of all trades but doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well. She's hoping for a major part but says she will have to be fine if it ends up being a part in the chorus. She’s been a wonderful role model for my girls.

I’m taking D22 to the theatre to work a show and then going with my two youngest to browse for Christmas gift ideas. No money to buy anything yet but they can think of things to tell grandma that they might like and we can keep notes of what gift(s) we might like to buy for her and grandpa. I need to find stocking ideas, too. Then we will pick D22 up after work and come home to begin decorating for Christmas.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23

So - I am going to tidy up down stairs today and start working on the guest room upstairs - get it cleaned out - that way I can start working on Michael's room and if it is tore up he has somewhere to sleep. Don't know about you guys but it amazes me how a spare room becomes a dumping ground for every one else.

Janet - I found it interesting that my TSH levels were down which mean my thyroid is hyper - is has always been hypo - so they have adjusted my meds.

I have been thinking of watching the Christmas Chronicles so it is good to know that you enjoyed it.

Dorothy~I'm glad you got answers to help you feel better.

Another quiet day. A nap, some paid work and family movie night. We watched "Merry Kissmas." Cute movie. Now Tim and I are finishing up "The Christmas Chronicles" on Netflix. It really has been good.
