Christina - You will remain in our thoughts and prayers. I laughed out loud at your "what is normal?" comment. Isn't that the truth.

Dorothy - DH is still painting away. He may be the world's slowest painter, but he does an incredible job. I'm afraid he isn't going to get it done and will have to do more on the weekend. Hopefully will get enough on Saturday done so we can put up outside lights on Sunday. He would have made it (at least enough) if the weather holds off until tomorrow evening but it looks like the cold front is moving faster than they predicted and it will be windy and rainy tomorrow. Probably not too much rain, but I really don't want leaves, moss, etc, stuck to my house in the wet paint.

Janet - I smell pineapple. Actually banana bread - DH made some this morning before he started painting. Trying to stay away from it.

40 minutes until its time to go again. I need to check library account to see if I need to go by there too.

My Goals: 10% at a time.

Dorothy~Yes, Isaac is constantly trying something to get my goat! I'm hoping for a smoother day today. I did get him to finish up his piano easily yesterday in the midst of it all. He knows these songs and even played the next one for me that wasn't in is lesson plan. Again...shows his hand...he can do it! Those moments really help!

Off to shop...I am going to smell like pineapples on the flight to ????? as I picked a couple up to bring home. emoticon

Janet - Hawaii plans sounds fun - can't believe our time here has come to an end already - where does the time go?? Kive the toilet cleaning idea - I think I will make the one of Michaels chores - think maybe I could have hubby clean them too??- LOL!! Issac sure gives you a run for your money but you hole your ground - you are doing it the right way - when you cave in they know they have the upper hand.

Cyndrea - thats a lot of driving this week - good luck! Did hubby get the painting done?? Thats great that the potty training issues are all coming together.

Christina - thinks of you!!

Have a good day all!!

I'll be sending out an email sometime tomorrow with information on our next destination! I am looking forward to the holiday fun we're going to have!!

So in reality... We enjoyed the mission event at church tonight and I kept my promise to myself and only had a dessert that I really wanted... cheesecake. I enjoyed a small slice of a chef-made pumpkin cheesecake. Worth every bite! The mission presentation was good, but would have been tons better with visuals. Show us the places you're talking about...show us the people... A picture tells so much more.

Tomorrow the only plans are school, piano lessons and then Maegann and I are going to a jewelry party in the evening. I think it will be too high priced, but the hostess is from church and her husband is gone to Iraq so I want to support her in friendship if nothing else. Will be fun regardless and who knows? I might find something I can afford and enjoy!

Janet - It is warm here today. 84 - almost hard to get in the Christmas spirit, but it will be cooler come the weekend. You actually timed your trip well because right after you left it was cool for a few days. As for your Christmas letter, at least you do one, which has me beat by a mile.

So far so good on staying on track today. Have to leave in 20 minutes to pick up L and then the niece.

Cynedra~Oh, to be back in warm Florida where one can paint the eaves prior to Christmas decorations! LOL You would laugh even harder if you'd seen Isaac holding the disinfectant cloth. He had it daintily between his thumb and 2nd fingers trying to "scrub." I finally slapped the sucker in his hand and told him to scrub hard. He complained and said, "But I don't want to get this on my hands...I'll have to wash them." I then stated "And why do you think I should have to...this is your pee!" It really was humorous! Posting the Christmas letter...hmmmm... I'll see if I can attach a word document or scan it in as a picture somehow. You all giggled my through my procrastination!

Janet - I can't help but laugh a little bit about Issac and the toilets. For some insane reason, my boys love to clean the toilets. Beats me why. So are we going to get to see your Christmas letter? (Yep, I'm that nosy.)

L made it back to school today, but we are going to start picking him up in the afternoons so that he has a bit more outside time before dark. Won't work out that way this week though b/c after I pick him up, then its off to pick up my niece from a school about an hour away. I know that both S and L will be falling asleep and I am going to have trouble getting them to sleep tonight, but can't think of any way around it. Only for three nights so it will be okay.

After a month to six weeks of not paying close enough attention to my eating, I am back on the horse today and through the rest of the month. I really would like to be in the 100s instead of 200s at the beginning of the year. I might not make it, but I can sure try.

DH is up on the housetop painting the eaves. Christmas decorating is not taking place until he is done. He goes back to work on Thursday, which is also when my niece will go back home. For Tuesday and Wednesday, S and I will spend about 4 hours a day taking S back and forth to school. I thought about trying to find some place near her school to hang out all day. S has finally got all the potty training down but he won't use any but ours. I am thankful that he finally got the #2 figured out.

Oh well, gotta go, DH is painting near where the power line goes into the house and I'm nervous.

My Goals: 10% at a time.

Okay ladies...after the pineapple farm we have to plan our shopping spree for our last day in Hawaii and find somewhere yummy for dinner together!

Lynn~You are SO worthy of the honor! There are times when we are just busier than usual and things are not on track as we'd like. Just keep finding the positives in each day!

Dorothy~You have a busy weekend ahead with the decorating and a birthday party. Glad you got some of the decorating accomplished.

Today was going well until Isaac came down for math. He chose to be less than he can be and then ended it with total disrespect so he got a swat. He's on his way back down for more learning so we'll see if his attitude has changed at all after his timeout. I'm doubting it by the way he just entered the room. I'm praying....

I did have Isaac clean toilets this morning too before breakfast. It's going to be his chore every other day. He wasn't happy about it, but maybe it will cause him to think a bit more when he's using the facilities. It's worth a try!

Other than toilets, I managed to get the floors swept and I have the third load of laundry going. Chores are going to be a new priority around here for the kids and myself...things are just sliding way too much.

This afternoon I will get on the treadmill. I've made a promise to begin today and I'm not going to break it. I'm done being last on the priority list!

p/s He's doing much better with his writing...we'll see what comes when I bring out the math again later on. He thinks this "playing dumb" gets him out of things. Not sure why as it doesn't work.

Haven't been around here (or much of anywhere on the site) for awhile... life has been busy...

I am still teaching K, still chaufeurring kids, still trying to make myself exercise regualarly, which is not happening all that much, still holding at my same weight.

This morning I have a substitute while I gain some technology training, so I've gotta fly for now...
Take care all.

Christina - my heart is with you and your family. I am so glad you got to spend the time with your father. I have faith in you that you will get back on track with your eating - one step at at a time.

Janet - the letter and the Christmas clothes. You must be so happy. emoticon emoticon

I got my front porch finished yesterday with Christmas decorations and got a few done in the house. Next weekend is the tree. Plus a family gathering for my daughters birthday. Have a great day everyone!

Yeah!!!! Can't wait to go to the pineapple farm!!!!

Christina~My thoughts are with you today and throughout the week. Thank you for stopping in to update us and for continuing to lead the team even though you've had so much to deal with. emoticon

Today was a nice day. Great worship service to start with. This afternoon Maegann was able to go to a friends house so they could play with a mutual friend that is back for a few weeks from the mission field in Peru. While she was gone I got the machine sewing done on the Christmas doll clothes. (Yeah!) Tonight we went back to church for a special concert that was actually spur of the moment. Pastor went to a concert Saturday night, found out these guys had nothing to do on Sunday so they sang in church this morning and then again for 90 min. tonight. Awesome pianists and one a singer. Amazingly talented! Came home and made a dozen cookies for snack and now we're getting ready to watch Amazing Race. Just a great day all around.

See everyone tomorrow!

Christina - I'm so sorry about your father. It sounds just like when my father-in-law passed away except that I wasn't there. I was 9 months pregnant at the time with a 20 month old as well and just couldn't keep the hours that everyone else did. All his sons were there and he also didn't want to be alone as he left this world for a better one.

Good morning Friends!
I have missed you guys this week! My dad pass away peacfully yesterday. God Blessed us with this last week. Dad was able to have the closure he needed. I am at peace but emotionally exhausted. I promised him on Monday when we made the hospice decision that I would be at his side through the end. God gave me the strength to carry out that promise. His biggest fear was dying alone and he quietly slipped away in a room full of friends and family telling old stories.

I am going to have a hard time getting back on track with eatting but I bet My spark friends will hold me accountable for not eatting my emotions emoticon

Janet I am happy to hear you got the LETTER completed!
I quickly scanned the thread but I will catch up as time allows. I caught something about a pineapple farm I will make sure to find one this week:)

emoticon emoticon Janet! I plan on getting alot done today. I want to buy a new tree this year. Been watching for good deals. I want to rearrange all the rooms again too - I do that alot!!

Cyndrea - I know what you mean - my son want a WII - he already has a Playstation 2 and 3 plus a PSP and a DSIXL - it is crazy - his sisters had the nintendo to share among 4 girls. I do not know how to get him to realize that it is a little crazy. Spoiled - not my son - LOL!!

For whatever reason I am surrounded by dogs - I don't know what they want but they are both sitting really close to me.

Happy Sunday all!

Well, the outside decor is done! Maegann and I stopped to pick up a couple more strands for the inside tree at Walgreens and found a beautiful angel playing a trumpet to put outside with the nativity. It was on sale so it is now in our yard on top of a hay bale. Really adds to the scene! Then we strung lights along the fence and some of the trees at one end of the yard. We're ready for it to get dark so we can see how it all looks. Now all we have left is the ornaments and we're decorated.

We did wake up to some snow this morning but it hasn't dropped much and was lightly falling as we worked outside.

Janet - Way to go on the Christmas letter.

We won't be putting up our outside decorations until after we finally get the outside of the house painted. We were going to start today, but so far its just a bit too damp. Maybe later this afternoon. Our tree won't be going up until either either the 11th or the 18th. I just don't have the patience for a full month of "Stay out of the tree." We've got absolutely no Christmas shopping done and two boys that want things that are out of range. L wants a laptop (and not a toy one either) and S wants Stinky the Garbage Truck ($50 for a plastic monstrosity that will break in a few days). They will both get stuff and be happy, but not those things.

Oh well, I'd better get too work on stuff.

Cynedra~So great to hear from you! We've missed you!

Dorothy~I know there is some exercise in my day, but you know it isn't the same as actually getting on that treadmill, etc. Glad you're joining me at the spa!

We didn't get anything done outside after all. A wind came up and it was just nasty out. Today...looks like it is going to be stormy. We'll see! I did get the cookies made (they were yummy!) and we got the tree up in the house with most of the lights. Too many strands dead so will pick up a couple more on the way back from hair trims this morning.

And...drum roll please...the Christmas letter is printed out!!!!! Whoo Hoo!!!!!

Cyndrea - good to hear from you - we have missed you.

Janet - honestly - it sounds like everything you do is plenty of exercise. Do you want to come stay with me for a weekend and get my house clean and organized and decorated and some cookies baked?? Please....LOL!! I can honestly say I like being a stay at home mom when my girls were young and I know I was crazy busy like that. Although I am quiet content with my life right now too! No complaints. Just counting my blessings!! I know I have many.

Christina - thinking and praying for you!

I think I am going to join Janet in the spa. Sounds wonderful!!

Hi all. I'm sorry I've been MIA. It took me forever to read through everything (and then I probably still missed some).

Christina - I'm so sorry about what you are going through with your dad. I remember going through it with DHs dad. It is a struggle.

My son L eats the school lunch. He gets to select from several items - so healthier than others. About once a month, he gets sick right after lunch time. Not sure what that's about except he despises milks so I think that probably has something to do with it. I would said not as bad as JO, but not good either.

I will try to get back more, but will have an extra child next week so who knows.

We're having a heat wave! High is supposed to be 34 today. LOL

Getting school finished and then we'll run to the grocery store and the nutrition store. Figure the traffic will all be at the mall areas. Will have the kids help bake some butterscotch cookies this afternoon that use cream cheese, butterscotch and white chocolate chips. If the hubby has time to check the electric fence I can get the lights strung. The kids and I will get the nativity in place and hang lights on the spruce that is nearby. I do intend on either walking on the treadmill or getting the jump rope and resistance bands out today. Enough of letting ME slide around here. I'm newly determined today!

Hawaii....I'm heading to a spa. I need a massage!

We had a nice dinner at our friends and LOTS of veggies on hand which was nice. Was also nice having a type of mashed potato and dressing that didn't require gravy so I avoided that! Big win! I did allow myself some cream cheese pumpkin pie with a little whipped cream for dessert. Afterwards a fun round of Apples to Apples.

Tomorrow I think I'll have the kids do a little bit of school and then depending on the weather I will decide what to do about the nativity scene and Christmas lights. I suspicion the electric fence is off and unless the hubby gets it working...no lights as the goats will eat the wires.

Off to watch Biggest Loser's "Where Are They Now" special that I taped.

Pineapple plantation! Where? When? Christina? Can we go next week?

Have my food together for the dinner. I didn't have any marshmallows so spread the creme on top instead. It'll work. LOL And I bought pre-bagged salad to use...talk about dirty! I couldn't believe how long it took to rinse that stuff. I'll not do that again!

Christina~Glad you are all making the most of what could be your last few days with your dad/grandpa. Glad you are at peace with his difficult behavior! I remember the staff at the nursing center when my mom was on her last days. Such nice people which really helped me make it through. Enjoy your dinner! I'd love your pumpkin roll recipe one day if you think about it.

I've got my sweet potatoes baking so I'll have plenty of time to make my casserole.

And guess what? The Christmas letter is completely drafted so it is ready for a proofing and then to the hubby to chop it up before I finalize. Yeah!!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to my LIL Mommy friends!!! I am so thankful for all of you!

Happy Thanksgiving! emoticon

Today we have a special Hawaiian treat! Kupanaha Magic show dinner theater.
We've developed an incredible mix of traditional magic and contemporary illusion with environmental elements representative of Hawaii and traditional hula and chant, to tell and show guests about the legendary world of demigods.

I am up extra early this morning. Gary is in charge of most of the dinner but I make my grandma's spicy stuffing and pumpkin roll. I finished the pumpkin roll late last night after I came in from the hospital. I just finished the stuffing so I am fre to go to the hospital when Gary get in from work. I am going to take the boys with me so they can talk to grandpa. The hospice nurses said we probably only have a few days, but only God knows for sure. They moved him into a hospice designated room and the nurses are so patient and kind. I sorta have to giggle he still continues to be a very difficult patient! I don't know why but at this point it seems to entertain me rather than the last 10 years when I could hardly stand it. I suppose that is what forgiveness does for you:)

Christina~Totally understand your need to be focusing on your dad right now. We'll miss you, but you'll be in our prayers! I'll limp us through the end of Hawaii and I've got our December adventure completely mapped out so let chat be the least of your concerns. Please just sneak in when you can and let us know how you are doing and also updates on your dad. HUGS!!!!

Having a good day. School went easily (yeah!) and we are going to treat the kids to lunch out and then we'll stop by the library for books on the way back. Then I'll be home and will start working on the letter. I did think of something else I could do, but I am finally saying "NO! Get the letter done!" LOL Tim is off this afternoon to help move friends to their new house. Brrrr...high is only 16 today!

I got all the presents I've collected so far wrapped so that was a relief last night as I was beginning to fear they would be found out.

Hi my dear mommie friends,
I will be absent for but I am not giving up. I just have no time to be online. My dad is in a hospice unit now. Keep us in your prayers.

Dorothy~Letter? What Letter? LOL

Procrastination Central: Found Christmas packages to wrap, shopped online with Maegann, worked on her Bible quizzing and now I'm here waiting for the hubby to be ready to watch Loser. What excuses will I find tomorrow?

Maegann's Ballywood costume for the Christmas voice concert arrived tonight. Very cute. Will need to take the waist up as it is too long, but that should be simple.

Isaac was much better tonight so hopefully he's moved beyond the gloom and doom he had going today.

Interesting question! I'll be curious to see what the others say too. We home educate so I really don't know much other than they provide lunch.

Still procrastinating quite well here in Idaho. LOL Once back from all our errands this afternoon I sparked and then after the mail arrived I headed to the bank to deposit the hubby's paycheck so the bills can be paid without using the overdraft. Stopped at the grocery store again as I decided to use my reward points to buy a couple turkeys. Will give one to Amy for Christmas (they are always struggling financially) and will either find someone else that needs one or will go ahead and roast it up myself sometime. Left enough points so I can do the same with ham next month. Basically I bought 40 lb. of turkey for less than $30. And now I need to go get the rest of the items put together for dinner. Looking forward to watching Loser tonight. Will save the Dance finale for another night.

Hawaii~Coffee...smells yummy...too bad I don't like the stuff.

just wanting to ask a question....my daughter and I have been watching the jamie oliver food revoulation series that was done in huntingdon (spelling not sure) and I wanted to know if all schools in the usa have that lunch system, and was it or is realy as bad as it looked in the program? I am not trying to offend or uspset and realy curiours as here in new zealand you have none of this system at all. If your children are at school (i home educate) you make your kids lunch. They may be able to order once a week each school varies and as they get older there is a tuck shop or canteen. thanks teamies and have a awsome day

Procrastination Central reporting in! I am about out of excuses ladies. LOL

I don't know if Isaac had a good time at the party last night or not because the minute he got home the hubby was giving him two firm swats on his bottom. I learned later he had wandered away from his dad at Walmart after being told to stay by his side already. Tim was thankful friends from church came by so they could help him search the store. They finally found him halfway across the store. Tim said he was about ready to call security for help. This morning Isaac woke up mad and crabby so naturally his best work at school did not show up and he's taking it out on his sister. I've told him he could be spending the entire day in his room at this rate because we aren't the reason he is choosing to be unpleasant. When he's tired he is a miserable little thing to be around! Always has been.

On the brighter side...we had some pretty snow fall last night. The darker side...just enough to make a beautiful layer of ice everywhere. Temps will hold it in place too for several days. Ugh!

Heather & Christina~I hope you have a good Tuesday. You've both got so much going on and I wish I could be there to help or just sit with you so you aren't alone.

Christina~Isn't it amazing to watch God work in those dark moments? That's what I remember from my dark days with dad...God's hand working. Thank you for the reminder of those moments of brightness.

Christina~Enjoy that premeditated ice cream girlfriend! After your day if that's the worst you do...not so bad! Big HUGE hugs to you for the day with your dad. I'm thankful God gave you the strength you needed to make those most difficult decisions. I'll be lifting you, your family and your dad in my prayers. He's lucky to have you nearby. I am also very happy to hear your good news about his faith too! What a comfort to you!

Procrastination Central here! I still have not touched the letter. I almost have the website done though! Just a bit more cleaning up to do with all the zoo photos and then I can get it all published for family. Got a little procras. help (thanks hubby) when needed to help put the gate back on the van. Gosh it all looks nice the same color and the hood...no ripples in it! LOL Didn't get back from taxi service until almost 6:30 which meant a late dinner for the three of us still at home. Tim headed off to pick up little boy from the party.

Hawaii...I don't drink coffee but I'm still going to tag along! Sounds fun for the holidays!

I've been emailing with a new team member of ours and I think after the holiday (she's traveling) she might just join our chat. I hope so!

Heather dealing with parents illnesses Is extremely difficult! Lifting you up in prayer. Will you still be coming back to the states for a visit soon?

Janet you are cracking me up with the procrastination! Remember my scrapbook table that is piled to the ceiling...It is still there my scrapbooks are 2 years behind!

Dorothy are you off both jobs for the holiday?

Today was one of the most difficult days of my life. But God worked MIGHTILY. My dad prayed the salvation prayer today. I was given the strength to offer to make the decisions for him was afraid to make. We told the dr we didn't want the tracheotomy, nor did we want him put back on the vent. We ask for a hospice referral. I promised to be with him as much as possible and hold his hand through the end.

Ok I am thinking about some icecream emoticon I didn't hardly eat today so I think I will indulge emoticon I think that was a confession before the fact wich means it is premeditated! LOL

Heather~So sorry to hear you are struggling with your mom's alzheimers. It isn't fun and it is tough so totally understandable. My best friends MIL had alzheimers and I also visited with her MIL when I'd go see my dad as they were at the same assisted care place. Janette would share with me the ups and downs of it all and how totally frustrating it could be and yet after they accepted it they could laugh at the silly times of her forgetfulness. It got really tough when she had other physical ailments on top of it. So big huge hugs to you as you try to wrap your emotions around all of this. I'm glad you are back so we can at least surround you with virtual hugs and concern and allow you a safe place to "talk" it through when needed.

We finished school except for reading some more on Christopher Columbus and this afternoon we'll have a few quick errands to run after we pick the van up from the autobody shop. Maegann has voice rehearsal at 4:30 and Isaac has a birthday party at 6 so I told the hubby to be home at 4 so I could take dd and he can deliver ds. I can't do both tonight. Appears piano is getting cancelled for tomorrow..haven't heard from Isaac's teacher yet and if I don't it means "cancelled." I think that's a good plan as the weather is supposed to be horrible on the roads tomorrow.

So...other than that...Christmas letter. I am truly down to that on my "must do" list for the week! I may still have a chance of having this thing out by December 1 since the cold is going to keep me inside so I can't procrastinate into "put up the outside lights." mode. The only other thing I want to do today is get the existing Christmas gifts wrapped so they aren't stumbled upon. That won't take but maybe 20 minutes.

Hawaii: Heading to the beach for some fun in the sun and spray!

Hi all, It's been awhile.

Christina- thanks for checking in on me. I'm very sorry to hear about your dad. My prayers are with you.

Janet, I'm the queen of procrastination. I've got several "monkeys" that need to be done. I accomplished one last Saturday. It felt so good! Too bad I don't allow that feeling of accomplishment to motivate me more often.

I've been having my own little pity party and avoiding everything good. I finally acknowledged to my dh on Saturday that I'm really not handling my mom's Alzheimer's diagnosis well. Saying it is the first step to dealing with it. So I guess that means that I'm on my way.

Let's enjoy some good Hawaiian sunshine today. emoticon

Christina~Sorry to hear about yet another turn for your dad. Sounds like decisions are being made for him due to the circumstances. That's how it all began for my dad getting to assisted living...medical choices. Hugs! On a brighter note..you must have REALLY enjoyed your time at the JR. High retreat to sign up for the Sr. High one! How fun!

Well ladies...I still haven't written the letter but there is a layer of snow on the ground now so that might help motivate. LOL I did get the photos selected from my thousands to go with all the events and have them copied into Publisher. Today since the letter would have been "work" I chose to print out the Florida photos and start working on the website with those. That was "fun" so it was allowed even though I was at the computer. Maegann had a friend over and Isaac was busy drawing so it didn't matter that I wasn't "with" them. So...the letter...tomorrow right? I am about down to that being the last thing on the list so it is likely! emoticon

Hi Mommie friends! Oh my I am not ready for Christmas decorations yet! Not even close :0) I might think about it next weekend. We usually decorate the first weekend of Dec. But I volunteered to cook for the Sr High retreat too which falls on that weekend. LOL! THis is also Gary's birthday OOPS So I just talked to my oldest son he said he would watch his brothers so his dad and I could serve together. I am really looking forward to that!

Dorothy I am looking forward to hearing about the hunting adventure.

Janet WRITE THE LETTER. hehehe you'll feel better when it's done :) I can't really say anything last year I didn't even send out Christmas cards.

I am running over to the hospital my dad is back in the ICU. They had him off the vent and in a regular room then Friday night I got a call at 3:00am from the ICU nurse he had taken off his bipap machine and they found him "bluish" and took him back to ICU. They are saying now his only options left are a tracheotomy or hospice.

I am sufficiently procrastinating on the Christmas letter! Figured the snow this morning would help motivate...nope. After breakfast I started working on my "must do" list so got the floors swept and the front windows de-webbed, a load of laundry done, bread in the breadmaker and extra flour mix for the french bread tomorrow, errands which took quite a bit of time actually and then it was lunch. I then got the birthday presents wrapped and was sitting down to work on the letter when I remembered I should email about playgroup in December and recruit for next year's hosts. That turned into checking email and now here I am. I'm about out of excuses now and only have 90 minutes before we leave for the party. I even kicked around hanging the outside lights on the fence, but it was too drizzly. You know I'm grasping for anything and everything else when I go that route! LOL
