I finally made it in but just for a second. I washing the house so we can paint this weekend. Taking a break to drink some water. Enjoying the last day in Ireland, listening to the Irish music - love it.

Have a great day.

Top o' the mornin' to you lassies!

I enjoyed breakfast on the deck this morning just taking it all in at our new location. Have just a few more details to iron out and then you can join me!

*****

Trying to get through school but it has been hard as Maegann is not feeling well. Her antibiotic bound her up so badly and nothing is working to change that for her. She's been throwing up things are so awful.

Her glasses are in though so that will help the eye headaches she's been enduring. Will drag her down for that with the throw-up bucket in the van. I think she's NOT feeling as badly as she says...more of a ploy to get out of schoolwork I'm thinking.

Good Morning Moms!

So we are leaving Ireland...Janet, I have to admit, you have me really curious about our next destination.. Of course I'm thrilled that the cabana boys will be there..speaking of which, Lu, where are you???

I have learned much about this country that has been our host for this last month, and thank you to our cyber-guides for making it an even more enlightening experience.. Julie, I mean Lynn..perhaps you should consider cruise directing as a second occupation, lol!!

Christina, those do sound like difficult decisions, I'm glad your brother is right next to you to help..

Have a great day everyone!

Oh my goodness; it's our last day here in Ireland!! Sorry I haven't been with you ladies much lately... I was captured by the Leprechauns and just released! They're mischievous little creatures, you know.

I haven't read many of the recent posts, but regarding boiling eggs, I use my Grandmothers never-fail technique: Cover the eggs with cold water, add a pinch of salt and bring to a gentle boil (the flame should be on medium, not high). This takes a little longer, but is worth it. Turn off the heat, cover and let sit for 20 minutes. Transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water (add more ice if it melts right away) until cool. This always works for me... the egg yolks aren't overcooked and they peel easily. Of course, once in a while, one does crack, but usually not.

Tomorrow is my son's 30th birthday... I can hardly believe it!!

As you know, I LOVED the Ireland trip, but am looking forward to our next destination. Thanks for being so patient with my "take over" of the side trips, I so love Ireland.

Christina, I am so sorry you have to make these major decisions, but am glad you have your brother and that you can work as a team. Lots of families don't work together as well!

Christie, did you start with the eggs bathed in cold water in the pan and heat them together? That has worked better for me.

have a great day everyone

Christie~I always have some eggs that crack. That's a tough one to have to take somewhere! Ugh!

Christina~Major hugs on the tough decisions regarding the nursing center and selling the house. Been there and it is NOT fun at all. Email me to talk anytime..... HUGS!

Okay....one more day left in Ireland for all of you! I packed up early and headed out to our next destination to make sure everything was just right and that the cabana boys were in place. Yes...I stole a few from the castle. They've been VERY helpful. It's gorgeous here and I thank Cynedra for helping me with this one. So...pack your bags tomorrow after your last outing and watch for your Adventure Passport for April in your SPmail! By the way...I'm enjoying a lovely beverage from my balcony. What a view! emoticon

Christina - Sorry about the dad decisions. My dad passed away after having a major heart attack 31 years ago so we were never faced with those decisions for him. We thought we were going to have to decide with MIL, but she passed away in hospital right before the decision had to be made. Good luck and I'm glad your brother is helping.

Christine - Hoping for those interviews for you.

Janet - I'm glad the trip is going well.

I'm usually not a big drinker but a bar is in order here too. It's time for more dad decisions. Now we're looking at permenant nursing home placement, and selling his house which is a part of the family farm we live on. I have to say through all these tough decisions I have been blessed to have my brother at my side! It is great not to be alone emoticon

Tonight I say CHEERS to Ireland, this great adventure, and green beer! or ale?

I am back from NY. Been a long weekend. My dog was sick at the kennel (bladder infection) and I came home with a bag filled with meds.

I also went to the store and stocked up with fruit and lean ham for lunch this week. I didn't buy any cheese to go with my ham either! I am sparking again!

Have a quick minute so thought I'd drop in and say hi and see what you're all doing in reality and in Ireland. Lynn~Great trip I'm missing!

We had an uneventful trip to CO and are heading home tomorrow morning. Will probably leave around 5:00 again. Dogs have done great on their first road trip! Not sure what our plans are for today but know we've got to get the cousins out of the house for a time. Only mishap so far is with our youngest hound...he bloodied up his front paws by dragging them on the sidewalks. He now is wearing cotton socks and duct tape until we can get some leather booties or something. I got a cute picture of him in his stried socks though.

Well...off to MIL's for breakfast. Should be back on tomorrow night late.

It is Monday, that's true, and two coffees definitely necessary, but for us anyway, it's a short week. No work or school on Friday. That being said, we are planning on trying to paint the outside of the house this weekend, so, um, maybe pushing through the week too quickly is not something I really want.

Yes, Ireland, what are we going to do today?

Christina - I'm glad your husband is excited about it. We are enjoying it sort of. I say sort of because it can be difficult looking for the caches sometimes if I can't get the boys interested. Sorry about your treadmill, but I am using our GPS for the same thing. My treadmill started acting up a few weeks ago. It isn't totally unuseable but I'm afraid of it. It will stop for no reason (or for putting your foot in the wrong spot which isn't really a wrong spot) and it can be quite jerking and I hurt my back a little beccause of it. DH tried to fix it, but it isn't working. The GPS works great for it though. I really miss my treadmill though, but it will likely be fall or late next winter before I can get one (without extreme luck at a yard sale).

Lynn - The play sounds wonderful. The passes sound great. I'm headed to the zoo, I think, so I can take pictures for the boys. But I want to see some of the other stuff too.

Have a great day!

Cynedra I'm so glad you told me about geocaching! My hubby is really excited about it and has been researching gps's. Now that my treadmill has died I will be able to use the gps to track my outside walk/jogs. I'm gonna have to wait til fall to replace the treadmill.

I'm assuming we will be leaving the resort and flying out of Dublin, so I have booked a block of rooms at the Merrion Hotel in Dublin, it is a 5 star hotel and convieniently located to many attractions. Link below.

The next thing on the agenda would be the purchasing a Dublin Pass. It gives us maps, and free admission to 30 attractions in Dublin. There is something for everyone. No need to fuss with wallets, and economical ater the splurge on the hotel.

Art Museums
Literary Museums (Book of Kells is an ancient illuminated manuscript of several books of the Bible housed at Trinity College, Dublin)
The Guiness Storehouse
The Dublin Zoo
Christ Church Cathedral
Visit the link below and see what you'd like to see.

May I also suggest that Macbeth is on at the theatre this weekend and Shakespere is always fun closer to the source. We could go any evening through the end of March.

Lots to enjoy...
Thanks for encouraging my little "hour of escapism"

I leased a little red capri convertible in my early 30s. Got my first ticket in that car. The officer was so snide. "Come on Sweetie, give me a smile" when he handed it to me. If my DH (at the time he was my SO)hadn't been sitting next to me saying "Don't say it, don't say it." I probably would have gotten thown in jail for assalting an officer.

Working on Dublin right now...

Good day Moms,

Our visit to Ireland is almost over and I've missed the last few activities! I'll just pretend that I've been touring the countryside in a little horse-drawn cart instead of living my insane real life.

Speaking of cars, I drive a silver Hyundai Genesis sedan now after having either red or blue SUVs my entire driving life and it's definitely a big change!! I must say, though, I've had it for about a year and haven't gotten a single speeding ticket, so I'm liking that a lot!!

Have a great weekend ladies...

I used to have a small red truck that I had. DH had a red Camaro when I met him. Now are our vehicles are silver and gold - actually closer to gray and beige, but hey that's the way it is.

Cynedra~Sounds like a very nice day!

Cars~Red, Silver, Black are #1, #2 & #3. Red does double duty as most pulled over...especially if a convertible. Wouldn't keep me from buying a red one though! LOL

Kids are in bed. Not asleep, but in bed. So...8 hours from now we'll be on the road. Ready to go but always ready to just be there.

Janet - Enjoy your trip!

Olga - Good luck with the shopping. I seem to recall that silver cars are the most ones likely to be in accidents, red to be pulled over. (it is probably whatever color is the most popular at any given time.

Lynn/Julie - I'm looking forward to that final excursion.

I took a little excursion of my own today. A 2 hour walk around and through our neighborhood - total of 5 miles. They slept through an hour of it. Made a mistake though - didn't put on sunscreen. Not too smart. You'd think by now I would know better. Luckily the burn isn't very bad - the boys didn't get any at all. After DH got home at 5, we went to the coast (30 mile trip) and just enjoyed looking out over the water and people watching, etc. There were a bunch of high school kids in their prom clothes taking pictures. Had McDonalds are the way back - S really wanted to play on the playground. It turned out pretty nice too.

Olga~As one who did lots of insurance transcription I must advise you that RED cars are the #1 car color in accidents. Have fun shopping!!!

Kids are driving me nuts out of their excitement for going. Today it is hitting harder because they've been acting like this all week and today they won't stay out from underfoot so Tim and I can actually get things done so we can go! I just sent them to separate corners of the house.

Dogs are nervous. They know something is up and are very clingy. They'll be happier once things calm down tonight and then when they are in their crates in the van going with us.

We are planning on looking at some cars this weekend. I am thinking RED. Maybe a red car with matching red shoes will perk me up and I won't feel older than I really am.

This reminds me of the red lipstick story. I don't know if you heard about it. It's a true story. They made it into a movie. It's about a woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer and always wore red lipstick to her surgery and procedures. She said the red lipstick made her feel like she can do anything, even beat cancer and she was right.

I am hoping the red will have the same "I can do anything" effect on me.

Have a wonderful weekend, ladies. I hope the weather stays great for everyone and no one gets sick.

I could us some sunny garden quiet time today! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon It's only in the upper 30's here today. I had to go back to get 3yo early from preschool today because he wanted to go home and wouldn't stop crying. I felt terrible for him and the teacher. Now he wants to go get his brothers from school too.

DH might take a couple of days off where we will paint the house (we bought the paint last year and still haven't done it) so that will be part of his "vacation." We will hit the beach some, but those are day or half-day trips. We should be getting some money back from our escrow account for our mortgage so we might be able to swing one night away sometime over the summer.

Reading in the garden sounds lovely.

No far Vacations for us this year either. My DH is in school (automotive engineer in Detroit= preparing for a new careen in bio/tech) we have just put $1000 into the Aztec (brakes, wheels and tires) which is a 2005 but has 102K miles on it, he drives my old van which is a 2002 with 125K on it and is much less reliable. I drive ~70miles a day to/from work so it has added to the mileage on both vehicles.

We will go to northerm MI. for a cottage vacation in the summer, but we share with my sisters and its not so bad. We will also do local things and a lot of swimming at the pool club ( $$ value for activities for all 3 kids and me as my girlfriends are all members and our kids are great friends.)

Reading a book in a garden? Janet, you caught my attention. Reading while being surrounded by flowers and birds and maybe a fountain sounds wonderful. Can I join you, please? Maybe I can stop thinking about cars and lack of money and jobs.

I hear you on reliability of vehicles. We are beginning to get a bit more nervous every time we take the CO trip. The van has around 118,000. We have been talking about the need to do something with it one of these days but with what money. We have scrambled to get the money together for our coming trips and probably will only have one more trip to CO late in the summer or early fall. We wouldn't be going this time but Tim's mom is getting up there in age and is failing so we're in "need to go" mode now. We also haven't taken a trip the size of the Tennessee/Arkansas one for years.

My niece had her baby last night about 10. Glad he chose to come before her inducement on Friday morning. Haven't seen pictures yet...just got the details. Seems odd thinking of my brother as a grandpa!

Getting school done and then we'll run over to see dad for a few minutes. This afternoon the hubby plans to work from home so we're going to get the dogs bathed (takes both of us) and then tonight we'll trim up their nails. I have a few errands to run but will wait until the kids are with grandma this afternoon.

I need to get busy on our next adventure so that I have it all ready to go next Wednesday. Can't believe we're going to have to leave this gorgeous castle so soon! Off to the gardens with a good book...

Olga - Your cars sound about like ours. Ours aren't quite that old, but are getting there. 10 and 9 years old respectively. The 9 year old one is great -- good gas mileage and seems to never have any problems, the 10 year old one has problem after problem - a engine light that won't go off, a gas gage that doesn't work right, and a heater that doesn't work either. But it isn't in the cards right now to even think about another one (unless we somehow win the lottery).

Christina - You might have told me before, but what part of FL is your mom in? You can sparkmail me if you too. I'm just curious. I would definitely call that a vacation. I a big believer in vacations not requiring hotels. I am hoping that next summer we can go stay with my nephew and visit DC , but unless things change, it isn't likely.

Janet - I hope you are all feeling better and enjoy your vacation too.

Christie - I hope you get a call soon for that interview for the perfect job.

Probably much more I should say, but S is calling and so is a bunch of work.

I was planning our vacation, but not any more. DH took my car for an oil change last night and there are so many thing wrong with it. It would cost thousands to fix. We don't want to put in thousands into a 14 year old car. So, not only DH needs a new car, but I need one also. So, no vacation for us this year either. I don't know what we will do about needing 2 new cars. The saving we have, we need to live on since DH does not have a full time job. There is no guarantee his day to day contract job will be here tomorrow and it's really scary.

On the brighter side, the kids were very excited about not going anywhere. They would rather go to our local water park instead. Kids are so easily pleased sometimes. :)

Christina, have a great vacation.

I call going to my mom's house in FL vacation! It is very affordable and it really is a vacation for me b/c my mom only gets to see the boys 3 or 4 times a year now. My grandma lives with my mom and she pampers us by keeping the towels and swim suits...really all the laundry caught up while I spend the days at the beach with boys. I love the ocean! emoticon Hubby has to stay home and work so my BFF aka Aunt Esa is coming with me. We are so excited! Don't feel sorry for hubby he will enjoy the quiet house I'm sure. emoticon

Got the errands done for today. Next I need to get things going for supper and then it is off to church. Survivor is on tonight because of the basketball stuff so we'll be watching that after the kids are down.

I'll be doing the dreaded packing for vacation in 2 weeks. Janet I know you'll be glad when your turn is over with the wee ones. I lead a Jr girls life group (Bible study) on Wed. nights and really enjoy it. I think after having the young one at home all day I prefer the teens.

Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

Just finished up school and am trying to get through SP threads here before getting back to laundry and fixing lunch. Afterwards we need to head to the $1 store so Isaac can shop for his Auntie's birthday gifts and then go to the library as I have several books in for our Easter unit.

Nice that us girls are feeling better here today. Maegann started a little rough but once her second dose of amoxicillan kicked in she's been better. I have a full day in so I'm much better. Yesterday was so tiring I can hardly remember the relaxing time at massage. LOL

The next few days will be filled with getting ready for the trip things such as washing dogs and their pillows since they are going with us. Finding a container for their food. Getting suitcases out. You know....travel stuff! Ready to get going.

Two more nights left with the Wee Kidz at church. Found out last night that I will have an adult helper both times (the little boy who had to go potty every 10 minutes grandma) and she is going to take over the class when I'm done. Yeah!!!!!!! I'm almost wishing they didn't have Wednesday next week due to spring break...might check on that tonight to make sure.

Cynedra~A little push to be like daddy is never a bad thing! LOL Glad you're getting all the appt's taken care of for now.

Ended up taking Maegann to Quick Care tonight after I got home from my massage as she was worse than ever. She had an ear infection also and a second one on the verge of starting. Poor thing. We didn't get home from there, quick bite at McD's and then meds from Walgreens until 9:00 p.m. Wish she had felt that crummy first thing this morning when I went. Much quicker care. LOL Our joke is that it should be called "NOT Quick Care."

Next massage is in a month... soon I won't need them but every 3-4 months. That's a good thing overall. Enjoyed today's very much as we had nice conversation throughout as well. Another gal was in there as she's training in this particular type of massage.

Off to watch Biggest Loser.

Janet - Your ear infection sounded like S's with the same type meds.

I was able to schedule a doctor's appointment for L's so she can give us a referral so the insurance will cover it and the opthamologist will actually see him. He will piggyback in on S's appointment to check on his ear infection. I think he is recovered, but we will see. Appointment isn't until the 6th though. L said he didn't want to go to the doctor or the eye doctor, but when I told him he might end up getting to wear glasses like Daddy, he was a bit mroe thrilled.

Chrisite - Way to go on getting the resumes out. Good luck.

Yes, those days of dragging the kids along to grandpa's doctor appointments were NOT pleasant!

Cynedra~Thank you for the email. Definitely a huge help!

My morning started off a bit crazy. Last night before bed I was just blowing my nose and had the worst pain on the left side near the ear and I didn't know if I'd burst the drum or just had trouble with the tubes. The pain left but the fullness did not. Tim stayed home with the kids so I could go to quick care and have it checked. In deed an infection but no drum damage. I'm now on antibiotics and a prescription decongestant. Glad it happened before we leave on Saturday. And here I was feeling so good yesterday. LOL

Maegann is now noticing that she does need glasses to read. Funny how we don't realize it until we know! She's not feeling great today either and if it continues through Thursday I'll take her in Friday just to be sure she doesn't need drugs as well. She's like me with her infections.

I head out in about an hour for my massage. My last one for a while but they sure have helped!

I'm all for the trip to Galloway Bay. I keep telling DH that we have to take a drive out to the coast because I seriously need some being by the water time. Sounds silly, but true. (It's only a little over 30 miles to the west coast, 120 or so to the east).

Christie - Here's hoping and praying that you get the job of your dreams.

Janet - I going to try to find something for you regarding your email. Weird coincidence with the eye thing. My brother had eye surgery a few weeks ago and needs to go redo his driver's license without glasses. He wanted an eye chart to make sure he pass first. So I found one on the internet and printed it out. Gave him the test. He's real close, but not quite there yet. When L got home from VPK, he tried it and did horrible like 20/60. We changed where we did it and he did better but still between 40 and 50, so I need to call the doctor and get him an appointment so he can be referred to an opthamologist. None of the optomertists will take anyone as young as he is, and the opthamologists won't take him without a referral.

Mommybof7 - Great that you had help with your child while taking your father to the doctor. I can remember with my FIL having to take my son to my mom's house, then coming back to get FIL and then taking him to the doctor. When I take my mom to the doctor, I have to take the boys along. Last time, she had my brother take her, but she only half listens (or doesn't understand) what the doctor is saying (probably a hearing problem, but she doesn't want hearing aids), and my brother is clueless. When I go, I go in with her, ask about other problems she has mentioned, etc. I still think it is only a matter of time before she moves in with us.

DH has been upgrading our computer and things are occasionally a bit weird with it so posting may be sporadic again. I really having trouble with emoticon etc.
