Oh,Denise. I am sorry. I hate dealing with insurance companies. The other woman should have told the truth. But, since there is a police report, the truth will come out. I hope your insurance company will be able to handle this without getting you too much involved. Good luck.

Uggg! Sorry to be selfish but I need to vent alittle. I have not heard from the other driver's insurance company. She is at fault, both cars were towed from the scene. She waited until last Monday afternoon to call her insurance. But she told them it was my fault, neither car was towed and that there was no police report. They closed the claim without even contacting me. Well they have to re-open it now. We thought the delay was because of the holiday, not because of an unlicensed liar!

Lu, hope DS is feeling better this AM. Janet, I've been there myself this past week. I think the stress going to bring TOM early.

Well I'm off to finish set up on the new challenge! Then to use some of this frustration to clean up a little bit in the basement. The clutter has been creeping up on us with the holiday.

Lu, I hope your son feels better soon. I have been through that. When DD was 4 was spend out Thanksgiving day at the emergency room because her temp would not go down even with meds. It was also just a virus and temperature lasted a week.

Janet, hang in there. You will feel better soon. They say the holidays can get stressful. But, new year is on it's way!!!

We had a White Christmas this year. I can't believe it either. It snowed around 2 inches where we are. I don't think we ever got snow in TX for Christmas. At least not that I can remember. The kids loved it.

I will see you all at the New Year Chat!!!

Lu,
Hope DS is feeling better. Do you have to go to the doctor? It is so awful when they are sick. I always feel so helpless. James threw up of and on from 11pm to 4am on Christmas Eve. Must have been some stomach bug. He seems to be getting better.

Janet,
emoticon Praying that God lifts you out of this. You are such a wonderful Mom and living your life for the Lord.

So much going on with the team! Great Job Christie. I will be able to hang out a little more often while on Christmas break! I have missed being here with all of you.

Janet: I get so frustrated sometimes that I just want to break something (guess I need to exercise more) and I do cry. I feel hopeless, too, sometimes with finances and my horrible job and knowing that I will be laid off in June.

But...I actually feel better talking about it.

I am always here for you Janet! emoticon

Lu~So sorry about the sick one for Christmas. Isaac did that when he was 3. Did you save his gifts so you can have Christmas on a day he is feeling well? At 4 that would easily work!

So ladies.... is it possible that menopause is setting in or am I just a touch depressed? Lately I've been finding myself crying and so frustrated over the silliest things. I also find myself really feeling worthless even though I know God does not create anything that is worthless. My cycle is still regular although it hasn't been as "heavy" for much of this year.

Oh Lu...how terrible! How is your little one feeling now? I was sick one Christmas Eve with a stomach virus and it was terrible. I actually slept on the couch and didn't care if Santa came or not!

I hope your baby feels better soon. Nason is my baby and he is 3. Dont' you wish you could do it over for him?

well, I had been looking so forward to this holiday(ds is 4 and just couldnt wait for santa) Well the poor boy came down with a very high fever early christmas eve and he still has it. He did not want to open presents or even come down stairs christmas day. When he finally came down at 2:00pm he had his father open all the gifts. He liked what he got, but did not have the gusto you knew he would normally have had. The doctor says it is viral and fever could last up to five days. If he still has fever by monday, i have to take him in again to get rechecked.
Sorry to be such a downer. It is just so sad to have people get sick on the holidays. but I still count my blessings(i know others have it worse and I am praying for them)

Thanks for listening, and enjoy the rest of your holiday.
Hugs

Hope everyone had a great Christmas. WE did, still are actually. Everyone was happy and grateful and is enjoying time togehter, extra sleep and less structure ( the 36 hours from noon Christmas Eve to bedtime last night not withstanding). I am being called to play apple to apples, so so long for now.

LOL - I removed my ticker all together! I also did 2 workouts and am trying to get some water in today. The food will get better on Monday. We still have some holiday visiting to do.

My christmas eve wake-up call happened just as we were leaving for church. My grandmother was rushed to the hospital and almost lost her legs due to poor circulation. I'm determined to move more throughout the next year. (Grandma is doing well and has been released from the hospital as of this afternoon. She's 86. My sister is her caregiver. Please keep them in your prayers.)

Happy "Day After Christmas!" Kids are playing with toys they did not explore yesterday and as soon as I'm finished here I'm going to help Maegann sew on her new chain stitch sewing machine. She wants to make a bag. Hope it works okay for her! Tim is helping Isaac build a fun train track with his new track and trains. Isaac carried his bad attitude through to today sadly....just being cantankerous.

Tonight for supper.... baked potatoes. So tired of food! LOL I also had them left from Christmas Eve as I forgot to turn the oven on as we walked out the door. Nice mistake!

Christie~I'll visit the Top 10 later on when it is calmer.

Hi Janet!

I like your new picture! Happy New Year! My Mom made Jesus a birthday cake one year and it was special. I missed going to church yesterday...makes the day more special to remember why we celebrate! I wanted to sew last night but was so tired! Today...started eating badly but then switched to cheerios! We are going to do this!

Exhausted here, but a GREAT day. Maegann got us up about 6:30 (ugh). Everyone enjoyed each gift received and again, way too much for the kids! LOL Dad was able to come over and was with us for about 4 1/2 hours. We headed to our friends place about 3:30 and didn't get home until almost 9:00. Very fun evening. Yummy prime rib (usually not something I enjoy) and a great game of Apples to Apples. Kids dropped once their heads hit the pillows.

Off to post a photo of the Baby Jesus cake for you Christie! It's a special time at our house each year on Christmas Eve.

Janet: I love that idea for a cake! I can't wait to see the pictures.

I am so tired...and looking forward to resting. My inlaws left early to travel home due to an ice/snow mix tomorrow morning. I felt bad for them as they ate dinner and my husband saw the news and they left 15 minutes later. We wont' see them until the spring.

Me....thinking of ideas for January for our team!

Christie~You're sounding like my daughter! LOL As I tucked her in and kissed her sweet face she jumped up excitedly and said, "IT IS ALMOST CHRISTMAS EVE DAY MOMMY!! WHOO HOO!!" Amazingly she went went right to sleep.

Maegann had fun decorating our Baby Jesus cake for the party tomorrow night. I'll try to get a photo posted tomorrow. This is her second year of getting to do it on her own other than frosting the actual cake.

We got our goodie plates delivered easily this evening and that was a lot of fun. Afterwards we stopped at Moxi Java and had steamers/coffee to warm up. I love their Reindeer Steamers!!

After the kids were in bed I got all the tags, ribbons and bows in place so I can put the packages under the tree or in stockings tomorrow night. I did put a few out tonight though, but there's no way Isaac's big bag can come out until tomorrow night. It is huge! Contains a large flatbed truck with a crane. Didn't want Maegann's scrapbook package out either as there are some spots that easily tear the wrapping.

HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS MY FRIENDS!!

I second the "Happy Christmas to All and to all a Good Night."

I'm sorry it continues to be so rough on you at work. The schools in my county are actually having classes today, but they are the only ones. L is at a private VPK so they don't have it. After getting really upset with your principal and completely agreeing with you, I started thinking it from the principal's side. If he couldn't see you, maybe he was trying to make sure it was a student named Christie who wanted to see him, or maybe he is just trying to get the secretary to use last names when she lets him know people are there. (I'm probably wrong, but it is possible, isn't it?)

I've been bad and have pretty much give up on December as far as healthy eating goes (other than a planned grapefruit picking from my BILs tree Christmas Eve), but am going to get myself geared up and ready to go Jan 4. Yes, the 4th, not the 1st.

Have a bunch of Happy Holydays!

Happy day before Christmas Eve!

We're still trying to figure out plans with grandma and pop-pop tomorrow. It appears I may be taking the kids over earlier in the day and then they will bring to the candlelight service. Hoping they will choose to come over for pizza and the Jesus birthday party afterwards. Well....everyone can eat pizza except Isaac. He has chosen "the" attitude with school this morning so he has lost that treat. And he LOVES pizza. Ugh!!

Well...I really, really, really am looking forward to the January challenges that I'm hearing rumor about. This IS going to be the year to lose the weight once and for all!

Hi Mom's

Just saying hello from work. There is nothing for me to do today as I don't have a class of my own and was not included by the other teachers...so I thought I would say hello to all of you! Merry Christmas!

I was up to 12:30 am baking cookies and then ate a bunch too! But...tomorrow is Christmas Eve and calories don't count right?

Hi Janet and Olga!

Thanks for the advice! You are right...everyone has a bad job!

I was off today to see Nason in his first preschool program and it was so cute! I am so blessed to have him. He is so tired and it is an early tubby night here!

How is everyone doing?

Christie, I am so sorry about the hard time you are having at your job. I sure hope your next job is wonderful. But, I will tell you this. I have had my share of bad jobs as I am sure many people have and we all lived through them and learned from that experience.

At my first full time job right out of college, my boss screamed at me about every little thing. She only screamed at me (loud!!!) and no one else. She just did not like me. There were no offices, so when she screamed at me, everyone heard and it was very embarrassing. But, I lived through it and my second job was much better and guess what? Everyone liked me including my boss.

So, hand in there. Next job will better. I promise.

Christie~Sorry about another rugged day in the trenches. Big hugs! Enjoy your Christmas break from that place!! I had a few oatmeal/butterscotch cookies to commiserate. Oh...I will be posting an update on the cross-stitch for you as soon as I'm done here. It's about half finished now!!! Even my little girl picked it up today and said, "Mommy! I can't believe how much you've gotten done!"

And about where to go next.... maybe skiing (even though I don't) as we could enjoy the beautiful snow, fireplace in the lodge, warm drinks and the cabana boys! (Just for Lu!)

Lu~Hope you get that cute cabana boy you've been eyeing for Christmas! emoticon

All the baking is done except for dipping the peanut butter balls in chocolate. Probably Wednesday since we'll be gone tomorrow night for the party.

Dad phoned and wants to go to the thrift store in the morning so we'll accomodate him as he's been holed up for over a week now due to the Norovirus that's been running rampant there at the center. Thankfully he did not get it. I read up on it and it sounds nasty. Glad they pretty much quarantined the place last week to keep it from spreading. We do plan on bringing him over for Christmas morning after all.

Hi all!

Today was a rough day at work. Let's just say it was bad. They promise to lay me off in June. I had an appointment with the principal to discuss my last observation (which went very well!) and as I am waiting, I hear the principal on the phone. The secretary wanted to leave for lunch and leans into the office and says, "Christie is here for her appointment" and the principal says, "Christie who?". Ouch emoticon

So... emoticon 5 homemade cookies and a huge bowl of peppermint ice cream complete with syrup later, I am still upset. But glad I have all of you! emoticon

I am tired and going to bed early, but am off from work tomorrow for Nason's Christmas program at preschool.

Janet: Can't wait to see the stitching!

I am so glad that everyone is doing well. We need something fun to do in January...any ideas?

Happy Monday!

Haven't been online much over the weekend as I've been trying to work on cross-stitch (Christie...you won't believe how much I got done!) and then we had several events over the weekend. Grandma's Christmas Tea was wonderful although my stomach felt horrible that evening from all the sugar, gluten and dairy I consumed. Worth every second though! LOL Last night we said goodbye to the children's pastor after a Christmas Communion service. Going to miss her. I did have a chance to talk with the interim children's director and agreed to handle the 3-K group on Wednesday nights through March. That's how long she knows she is directing and then it is a wait and see what happens type thing. She is planning to have them buy the material for me to use. If they don't...I will not be taking the group. Supposed to start Jan. 6th.

I really do not want to do holiday baking this year as I'm having a hard time with sugar. I need to get them done today as we have dh's company party tomorrow night.

A quick check in on a Monday morning that I've apparently decided is not going to include exercise.. I hope everyone is doing well in their march to preparation for the holiday.. I am shopped and wrapped, for the most part, my sister and I will go out tonight for our last things.. and I'm only working today and tomorrow and then I'm done. DS goes to school through Wednesday, so I'll have one day at home alone to finish up.. It's getting close!!

Have a good day everyone, and enjoy the spirit of the season..it is the best part!!

Hey all,
Back from my in-laws family Christmas in Ohio. After a fun filled week in the kindergarten and at home. I am now officially on a two week vacation, and really enjoyin it already. Even grocery shopping with DH at 7:30at night seems like a holiday when I don't have to be up at 6am on Monday morning.

I have almost everything bought, and know what Ineed, so that's done, I'll get the majority of the wrapping done tomorrow, at least the secret stuff... which I do at my parents' house it's quiet and I don't have to be sneaky.

Have a great week.

Denise,
So glad to hear you are okay. Sorry about the car.

Christy,
We do not have Wilson reading. You will have to tell me all about it. Do you like it?

BRRRRR! Cold here today. Not doing much. Coming down with something; runny, stuffy nose. cough and headache. UGH! Nothing like being sick at the holidays!

God bless you all and hope you have a great day today!

Hi everyone. Lu I have become a bit of a facebook junkie myself.

I am way behind on Christmas this year. I picked up more hours at work and am still homeschooling the girls. It's been pretty hectic. I thought I was going to get caught up on shopping, both gifts and groceries tomorrow. I got out of work on time and was in an accident on the way home. I'm okay, car's not. My hand is little swollen and cut up alittle but I was wearing my seatbelt and the airbag worked. I'll be sore tomorrow. It was the other (unlicensed) driver's fault, but I'm without a car. Oh well tomorrow I can make my lists, and work a plan. The girls are finished with school work through Jan 5th.

Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend!

Denise

Hi all,

Remember me. I'm sorry I have been MIA but hope to be back in full swing after the holidays. Right now, I'm cross stitching away as I don't really have any money to buy my family presents. They will all be getting small ornaments. Good thing about that is my hands are too busy to be using them to eat - yeah. I will have to finish the boys shopping when DH gets paid on Christmas Eve. Had to do the same thing last year. I'm always amazed, really, about how nice everyone seems to be when you shop Christmas Eve. We have L's major present bought, but need to pick up one or two more things for S.

I'm glad to see that everyone seems to be doing okay More or Less.

If I don't make it back before then Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year (and a happy any other holiday you celebrate).

Hi ladies!

We headed over to see my dad this morning and found out the place is pretty much under quarantine because of a highly contagious virus. They need to be symptom free for 4 days before they can resume group activities or allow visitation. Hopefully it will be under control so people can get out for Christmas! After that we headed to the library before coming home to accomplish school.

This afternoon the kids head to grandma's and dh is thinking about us going to see Where the Wild Things Are. He'll let me know after he sees how a project goes at work. Plus we are fogged in (very thick) so the drive isn't appealing to head to a movie for a 30+ minute drive. Part of me would just like to stay home and work on cross-stitch or scrapbooking.

A quick "hey", as is usual this time of year I am sleep, and exercise deprived, but knocking things off my list.

Got a new student this week, lots of extra meetings from work... and my mom/family stuff as well, of course.

I'll catch you tomorrow.

Good morning....well I guess it is afternoon for some of you already.

I did go to the store last night as it did not freeze. Got pretty much everything for our holiday baking along with the other items so it appears all I need now is vanilla ice cream (for our Happy Birthday Jesus party on Chr. Eve) and some holiday plates for the cookies and treats. We've chosen butterscotch oatmeal cookies, pretzel sticks dipped in melted white chocolate and buckeyes (peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate). We will leave Santa a couple oatmeal cookies (gluten free) and some rice milk. The kids thought it would be funny to see his reaction to that! LOL We'll also leave carrots out for the reindeer.

All the shopping is done! Kids finished theirs today so other than one item I'm waiting on in the mail we're good to go. Just need to wrap the kids' stocking stuffers.

Dogs are enjoying the mucky mess out in the yard that one solid day of rain and warmer temps brought. Our 1 1/2" of snow is melted and just standing on top of frozen ground. Ugh!! I locked them out this morning as they kept coming in and out and that's just more mess than I wanted to deal with. Now I can have them worn out and wipe their muddy paws before they get past the doorway.

Darkness is falling a very rainy day. Our 2" of snow is now 1" of slush which will be ice in a few hours. I had planned on going to the grocery store, but I'm not sure about that right now.

I did get pictures posted on my page from the ballet recital and the Christmas musicals so go take a look if you get a chance.

And Christie...I did post a note for you about an updated cross-stitch photo. I was surprised when I looked at August's...I could actually see a difference! Whoo Hoo!

Hi all.

I am off work for the next 5 days. Woo Hoo!!! I am planning all kinds of projects for the house. I hope it's going to be nice and sunny and bright for me. I get more energy to do things when it's sunny outside.

In case, I don't log in later, have a wonderful remainder of the week and weekend, Mommies.

Christie~At least on the princess cross-stitch there is no backstitching. They made up for it with the intricate blending though! Isaac is doing better this week with school. He tried to push the same thing once again but he's worked through it much better.

Maegann's ballet recital was very nice last night. She has really improved this year in the level 2 class. Afterwards we drove around looking at Christmas lights.

Had some excitement for the recital rehearsal. We got there a few minutes late as I had made a wrong turn and when we opened the doors to get out of the van we heard a child just screaming. We had pulled in right after one of the other families. Found out one of the little girls had her hand caught in the sliding van door and they couldn't get it open. I sent Maegann and the two older girls in to practice and let Ivy (teacher) know what was happening. I then called 911 and got an ambulance and firecrew over to help. Several of us were praying and singing Jesus Loves Me while we waited with this frightened and hurting little four-year old girl and found out later Ivy had all the other girls in a circle praying for her as well before they started rehearsal. God answered in a big way for her too. There was not even a break in the skin! The three fingers on her right hand (pinky and two next to it) were flat when they pried the door off and then they took her into the ambulance where it was warm. About 30 minutes later she was inside dancing. You could see some redness where they had been caught, but that was all. I'm sure there is more soreness this morning though after having a night without ice or tylenol. Could have been so much worse for her!

Good morning everyone!

We made it through the musical last night at church and dd had fun dressing up as an angel with the other girls in Kidz Choir to sing a couple songs.

This afternoon I have to take dd to dress rehearsal for the ballet recital that is tonight. We're supposed to take our photos this afternoon as well.

Once we get ballet out of the way I believe all we have left is grandma's Christmas Tea on the 19th and dh's company party on the 22nd. Gosh! Christmas is almost here isn't it?!

Christie~I actually worked on my cross-stitch last night for 90 minutes! Still so far to go, but I'm going to try and make an effort to work on it each evening. I can actually see Belle's waistline now. LOL

Tina~Glad the party was a lot of fun for you!

Good Morning Moms..just checking in on my way upstairs to the exercise bike.. Janet, the party last night was pretty good. I have wonderful friends that I work with, so it is always nice to have some time to sit and chat and laugh..and we did all those things..so a thing I was dreading turned into a nice time..doesn't that always seem to be the way?? Well, with everything except Cub Scout meetings, they usually are as miserable as I think they are going to be, lol..

Anyway, I hope everyone is feeling the peace of the season..have a great day!!

Hi Janet: I work through the 23rd and my inlaws arrive on the 24th. I just hate going into work as they treat me really rotten. Sometimes I can't believe how the principal actually treats me...mostly I am invisible.

Anyway....I am finishing a Christmas cross-stitch pattern to make a card for my nephew. I am up to the backstitch now. I will post a picture when I am done.

Tomorrow...I am going to try to go through one day without eating candy, chocolate or junk. I must be able to do one day right? emoticon

Maegann was able to make it through church this morning. Could tell she was tired as she didn't sing as nicely as she can for the solo, but she still did a great job. She's been resting this afternoon so she can be part of the musical event tonight. We head out of here in about 90 minutes.

We had more snow overnight but at least the temps are no longer sub zero in the wee hours so things can melt off some during the day. Pretty, but I hate to drive in it!

Tina~I hear you on rather staying home than drive to a company party in bad weather! Hope it wasn't too bad for you.

Christie~When does Christmas break begin for you?

Lynn~I had to laugh about your apology for buying Scholastic. I buy some at times too! I'm leaving my Usborne store up and running and plan on keeping enough books around to do a home show should anyone want to, but things have slowed down to a halt for those. Can't blame the people though with finances as tight as they are for extras. I've had enough direct sales that I did manage to secure LOTS of the books I wanted by signing up so we're set for younger reader literature, etc.

I am happy to report in and say my house is decorated and my laundry is almost done and in a little while I'm going to get dressed and get ready to go to a Christmas party.. It's a pretty yucky day and I'd rather not go anywhere, but it's my boss's party, so when your boss has a Christmas party, you go. DH is at the Patriot's game, so I'll drop T off at my mom's house, go have a bite to eat and a drink, pick T back up and come on home, to our nicely decorated house..such a nice, peaceful feeling!

Gonna be a tough week at work, I'm very glad my house is in order..

Have a great night, moms!

Hey ladies...
Today I helped with the Cub scouts Christmas Craft (where the boys make 5 craft projects to give as gifts). That was from 9-noon and fun. I was proud of Tommy, he didn't need me to help him with everything. This was good as I was in charge of the check in table, then I helped out at the beading table.

Tommy and I headed home and then my sister and I went to a Scholastic book warehouse sale. (Sorry Janet) We had a ball. We both love, love , love books. We bought a lot of "stocking stuffers" and I got some great books for school at a great price. Nice time together, too.

Once I dropped my sister off, I headed home to get the family and head off to church, my DD was schedule to serve at the service. When we got home we ate and then put the trees up. Got the lights on, too. We will finish decorating tomorrow. I am so excited not to have anywhere I HAVE to go, tomorrow.

Catch ya then.

Hi ladies!

This morning I headed out around 10 to pick dad up to go to the store. He had phoned Friday asking to go for a minute. After I dropped him back off I headed across town to Michael's in search of a children's sewing machine that Auntie Rea wanted to get Maegann for Christmas. She wants to learn how to sew so badly and my large machine just makes her so nervous. Thankfully they did have a couple left. I also picked up some bead snowflakes and some wood ornaments to be painted and glittered, etc. and we'll work on those this coming week. I also picked up a package of 20 rubber stamps (have to mount them on wood) that are of the nativity, santa and general Christmas stuff. The goal is to make our own Christmas cards for next year and I was hoping I'd find some with more of the nativity scene. Yeah!

Maegann woke up throwing up this morning. ugh! She's pretty wiped out this afternoon, but who wouldn't be. Seems more like something upset her stomach more than being the flu. I did call the children's music director to tell her that Maegann wouldn't be there tonight so she can be rested and better for church in the morning. That's more important since she is singing her solo/duet once.

We're having snow today and they are saying around 4-5 inches by the time it is done. We'll see!

A good friend of mine successfully lost 70 pounds in 7 months by just not eating and taking the good half of Phen Fen. I just worry that it won't stay off since she's done this before without the meds and it comes back. Time will tell. She looks great right now though.

Hi Denise,

I am on my way to make a gingerbread house with Nason. It is already together and we have to add the embellishments. Should be fun. I did not exercise today, but will tomorrow. Finished putting out the Christmas decorations too.

I bet this site picks up again in January! I have to find out how to have our team featured on the page for newbies...anyone know anything about that? I would love to see our team hit the over 600 mark for the new year!

Hi! I'm catching up on laundry and things around the house as well. I promised to make at least one batch of cookies. I haven't done a workout since Tuesday morning. Cold here as well but the sun is shining.

Hi Candi!

I am writing Christmas cards and catching up on laundry. It is sunny here but very cold. But a bit warmer than yesterday. I am debating about working out. Hate to stop my chores to work out...hence my continual issue with exercise...time! emoticon

I will check in later too!

Candi: Do they teach Wilson Reading in your school? I am learning it now and wanted to see if it was across the country.

Janet: Sounds like you are doing a great job with your son. Lynn had some great ideas too and Lynn...I know that I already expect only the BEST from Nason. I will have to learn how to give him space as well.

So...I ate six chocolate chip cookies today emoticon . Skinny DH made them but I ate them because I was hungry. Problem is...want more. Trying to diet in this holiday season is tough!

It is freezing here too! emoticon It was sunny out, but too cold to go outside.

Tina: You are refering to Everyday Math. I would love to her postive comments about it because I HATE teaching it. The kids never get it and I am moving right along. Now...I have the lower level kids and they need lots of time so it might not be fair to compare. I have to teach myself lattice multiplication too and with the decimal...I was confused but the kids loved it!

Lynn~At this point we are going for behavior because it is definitely a control thing. The number line stuff is simple for him and I wasn't even going to make him do all the problems until he said "I'm NOT going to do these." Then it became all about control with his behavior. He does this in a lot of areas of his little sweet life! At first these were hard to figure out so we got the white board out and that was a lot of fun for him AND he was doing them well. ( I do like the idea of making him do this on a tape line or chalk line though! ) Yesterday once he realized he was going to do the work he went through all but one and then dug his heels in hard. Right now they switched the adding to vertical instead of horizontal with the number line and he's breezing through them. I did catch him in a good frame of mind and told him if he does the top row (4 of them) without fussing and gets them right he will not have to do the second row. He's almost done and it has only been 2 minutes. I do use M&M rewards at times and some days even $1 store shopping. When he gets in this mode nothing matters but trying to control. I try very hard to praise them both when they do good work, but that's a good reminder to be careful about.

We have a Christmas party this morning with Friday School so will head out here in about an hour. Plan to stop at Subway to get lunch items to take with us. Tonight we're ordering pizza and playing games with a friend that comes each month. Somewhere between there we'll finish up school and do some more Christmas crafts.

I looked through my bag of stocking stuffers and it appears I need a couple more little things. Right now all Maegann has is the pieces to a Cadoo add-on set and a coloring book. I still want to try and find her a charm bracelet or some fun jewelry. I was told they did not understand why Santa always leaves a toothbrush each year. LOL I'm going to stick one in just to be onry!

Janet,
Are you going for math, behavior or both on this # line thing? If it's just math... what about making a big one on the floor with tape(hard) or chalk (carpet) then he can move to do the # line bit and go write his answers on the paper.

If it's behavior... and he seems like a bit of a controler (no offense meant) then I would show him his worksheets for the day and let him order them. These are your jobs for the day... which are you doing #1, #2, #3 first? Make sure he understands that he is responsible for all 3 and they should be done w/out a fight (or much of one) or you get to order them the next time.

Does he get jealous if you praise Maegan? If so I would heap it on her and him if he complies. Is there a reward he likes. I'd give HER lots of that, too. I generally am a "intrinsic reward" kinda girl, but sometime we all gotta resort to the m&ms (or whatever).

good luck... when it comes to teaching I'm much better with other people's kids than my own. My expectations are way too high for mine. (Didn't know that was possible till it was gently pointed out to me.)

Everyone else... have a great day... I've got K work to do. Hugs and cuddles (it's COLD here)

Good morning moms..checking in to see how everyone is doing. I've had a bear of a week, and am hoping that last night's good night's sleep is going to get me headed on the right path..

Janet, bless you, I just would never be able to home school..my little T is definitely a kid who is so much better for other people, there are times he comes home with homework on material he's not so sure on and getting him to listen to me is a big challenge, one I have to admit I don't always succeed in. But I do notice the only time we have the problem is when the subject matter is something he doesn't understand so well. The thing I notice from the curriculum they follow in his school is that they do the material in repeating cycles..so the teachers don't worry so much if a child doesn't get it the first time around, because they will get back to it, and I do find that he generally gets it very quickly on the next "pass" on the material. They can be so stubborn, though, these kids.. Good luck with the reward system..

Anyway, I'm hoping everyone is doing okay! Have a good day, everyone!

It's not a diet, it's not exercise, it's a way of life. Period.

Christie~Definitely share any info you may have to help me with this boy of mine! LOL His 30 minutes turned into 90 to finish SIX math problems. I felt so bad for him on one hand, but what else could I do since he began with this comment as soon as he saw the number line: "I am not going to do this. Nope." He said it very quietly as though I would not hear him. I will admit when I first turned the math sheet over and saw the number line I cringed inside since this has been our "war" with math the past week. I was only going to have him do half of them until he made that comment.

We went and saw "Amelia" tonight and it was really good. Done quite well.

Off to watch Survivor and then head for bed. I'm tired.

I think I might go for three days a week...something to be consistent with and if I work out more...great!

It was a bit revealing to see the spark chart and have it start with 482 minutes for January and then fall to 90 minutes in June and then to 210 in Nov. No wonder I only lost 10 lbs in one year. I am disappointed in myself...but won't give up!

Christie, I am with you. Exercise is so hard to find time for. I am still watching what I eat and do portion control. But, without exercise, I will never get to my ideal weight. That would also be the one thing I need to stick with.

Janet: Did you ever use a sticker chart with Issac? I use one with my students and they will jump through hoops for a sticker. They get a reward when the line is finished. Let me know if you want to know what I do. Positive reinforcement might do the trick!

Please post a picture of Maegann so we can all see!

I am going to start a new thread about New Year Resolutions. I want to monitor it all year long. I think we should all pick ONE goal and stick to it. For me, it will be exercise. The eating will come along with the exercise.

I did work out today too!

Christie~Didn't find a dress for Maegann so I bought a pair of sparkly black flats and some tights for her to wear with her sleevless "fancy" dress.

Having struggles with Isaac and his school again today. He's choosing to "not know" how to do the same thing he's perfected for several days with his math. It's just strong-will trying to control what he wants to do. He finally did two of them perfectly (because he knows how) and then chose to forget how again. Crazy is what I call it. So far he's had lots of push-ups with 2 minute time-outs at the door and lost his battery and magnet trains. He had just earned his magnet trains back yesterday. And guess what? After 30 minutes he's finishing them all up perfectly. UGH!

This afternoon we have to take my dad to Walmart for something. He was phoning like a crazy man yesterday about it but I was only home for 2 1/2 hours and couldn't reach him through the staff there to let him know we were not coming. He phoned this morning and I was lucky enough to catch him in the dining room so we got it scheduled.

Kids go to grandma's this afternoon at 4 and dh and I plan to go see Amelia. There's also a computer store right near the theater and dh wanted to check on some parts for our computers to upgrade them. He's got some business income that he's trying to spend on "business" equipment so we don't get taxed on it. I need to price laminators.

emoticon I was supposed to check back to see who huddled yesterday to give out goodies and forgot! I was home for a snow day and just forgot! It happens a lot with the pressure to get everything done!

Sorry...did any of you huddle yesterday?

Janet: You seem so very busy and so together with it! How do you do it? Hope you find that perfect dress!

Olga: It seems to be very cold in the midwest as well....already tired of snow here and this is New England!

Sue: I hope you feel better.

Me: I gained a pound! Not surprised as I am eating badly....but I did exercise! I better exercise more!

I am home today as our roads were very bad and I need new tires. I even called the town to plow our road again!

How is everyone doing?

Sue...how is the challenge going?

Hi ladies!

What a wonderful presentation of "Annie" this morning! They did the entire play which was awesome. Sometimes for the "school" showings they shorten them, but not this time. One of the girls from our homeschool group was in the orphanage chorus so Maegann had fun picking her out in the group. Afterwards we mailed our Christmas package to grandma and met Tim for lunch at McD's. I was good...had a grilled chicken salad. Now we are doing school.

Need to find an inexpensive "holiday" dress for Maegann to wear on Sunday as she is singing her duet/solo in the morning. The leaders want the two girls to match somewhat and my girl does not have anything like that in her closet. UGH! We stopped at 4 stores (2 "thrifts" and 2 others) and couldn't find anything other than some gorgeous $50 on sale for $30 dresses. I've got a couple other places to try tonight after I drop Maegann off at church. Glad I have 90 minutes before study tonight! I still have to make sure I get to a couple places for specific stocking stuffers.

Morning, all. I think I'm feeling a bit better - still have a pretty bad sinus headache. Of course, the 20 mph wind and dropping temps don't help.

I'm off to get on the bike and watch last night's Biggest Loser. Boys have a half day of school, MIL is picking them up to do something with them. I do need to try and run some errands, but will wait until later so I don't have to make multiple trips.

Good morning,all.

It's freezing in central TX today. It's 27 degrees. Brrrr. Some people actually forgot to turn their sprinklers off and there are ice patches all over the roads. You know Texans don't know how to drive on icy roads, so it's pretty dangerous out there.

On the bright side, DD is going to be in our local Christmas parade. She is very excited. I am not excited about getting her there at 8:00 in the morning in the cold. Did I already say BRRRR!!!!!

DH car would not start last night. I hope it's the battery, if not we will be stuck with one car for several months until we buy one. I would hate that. If that happens, I would be stuck at work for 9 hours for months without leaving. :( But, I guess we do what we have to.

Have a great Wednesday mommies.

Getting ready to watch the last hour of Biggest Loser (I forgot to change the time back to 7pm after last week being different.) Ugh! If we get started soon enough we should be able to watch So You...Dance as well.

We'll be up earlier tomorrow to get to the 9:15 showing of "Annie." Will be with school children but our homeschool group has a few families going so we'll be together. After that I hope to get school done and then I have to get Maegann to church by 5:30. I will then go stocking stuffer shopping and grab some dinner before heading to Bible study.

Today... pretty much a wash for school. Maegann did get her Spelling done just so we don't get behind on that as it really follows a 5-day week format. Then the kids made some cute Christmas trees. Ballet at 4 and I sold $100 in books today. After supper and baths Maegann and I worked on the gingerbread train. She did a good job and let me help her some on the decorating. The frosting was HORRIBLE to work with as I couldn't get it soft enough. Next year...I'll make the gingerbread pieces and frosting.

Just finished watching the end of Biggest Loser, now heading off to do the exercise I posted on the challenge.

Let me tell you, those kindergarteners are getting excited. The days are seeming a little longer. I am enjoying sitting here a little too much. I got home at 8:30 (for the first time since leaving the house at 7:15) I did the swim practice run, and the church choir run, and skipped service tonight...I'm sad to admit, I did get some other jobs done, though

gotta go check a science project lay out... my opinion is highly valued around here.... catch ya' later.

Had a WONDERFUL night out with my girlfriend. We were at the restaurant for 3 1/2 hours! Then I skated home on the icy roads. We only had about 1" of powder in the morning but our temps are staying around 20 and lower so the result is ice.

This morning I took the kids Christmas shopping at the $1 store for grandma's, pop-pop's and aunty. LONG morning, but it is done and one box ready to mail. Nice task out of the way!

Maegann is tackling her spelling and then we are just moving onto crafts as she needs to get one thing finished for her ballet teacher and class is in less than two hours. School will just have to wait for tomorrow! We're going to work on the gingerbread train tonight after dinner.

Anxiously awaiting the finale of Biggest Loser tonight. Won't see it until the kids are in bed. Anyway...GO DANNY!
