Christie~I think our new adventure sounds great!

Had another fun day with my daughter. The musical of Beauty and the Beast was very well done and she enjoyed it so much. Only had trouble near the end when her meds had worn off as the louder volume made her ear hurt as there appears to be more amplification inside right now. Wishing the pain was gone more by now as this could mean it is turning into an infection. I will have to call Monday and get nurse/doc opinion on that one.

Can't believe it is November tomorrow! Better go set a few clocks back so I'm not totally confused in the morning! LOL

Well, tomorrow we embark on a new adventure...and I think it should involve somewhere warm with lots of clear water and fruit and our mandatory cabana boys...how does that sound?

Rain rain go away! Yesterday was beautiful, today it's raining sideways. It may clear up before tonight though. This year Hannah will be a giant chocolate chip cookie so it's something she can wear over her raincoat if need be. Have a great Saturday! I'll be ready for the November challenge tomorrow.

Happy Halloween everyone!! I hope you all have a wonderful day with your families..it's nice to have the day fall on a Saturday, we get to spend the whole day with the kiddies, most of whom probably put this day close to the top of their lists of favorite days, lol, all that candy.. It looks like it's going to be a pretty mild day here in the northeast and any rain in the forecast is going to hold off until after the trick or treating is done, so that's all good.

I am so ready to start the November challenge..looking forward to the focus it will give me on healthy habits.. Thanks for all the work you've done on it Sue.. I was a Sparker, but not a LIL Mom last year at this time, or at least not an active one..so this will be my first one..

Have a great day everyone!

Sue...thanks for doing the challenge. What a great idea you have!

Me: just tired after another rotten day of work but was going to work out but am going to sort the threads for my new cross-stitch (stamped) project. A crib blanket for my sister-in-law who will have a baby girl in January.

Lu, I love it a deserted desert dessert Island. In virtual land we can have any thing those cabana boys can dish up and with no calories.

I'll start with Sander's Bumpy Cake and whipped cream. (I hope for your sakes that this is not just Michigan thing.)

I am feeling better, and have a lot of the tough stuff behind me. The big K Halloween party. The staff dressed as pirates and we had a Jack Sparrow wig I wore. They were mesmerized with the long black dread locks with beads especially on a middle aged blond woman.

Shanisha's funeral was today. Very sad, and very final. It was a long time coming, and thankfully well attended. Her kids look as well as can be expected.

Tomorrow I am sleeping in, carving a pumpkin and wrapping up Abby as a mummy. If I cough a lot, may be I'll see a doctor. But, I do feel like I finally turned the corner.

Happy Halloween!

Sue~Thanks for the work on November's challenge! I like the consolidated once a week thing myself VERY much!

We've gotten through a lot in Maegann's room today and have found the need for a couple more containers. We bought three fabric containers and one plastic one with a lid and those worked great for the clothes and small items. I've been given permission to go through the stuff on her desk (a stack of papers she's collected over the years) and throw things away. Plan on another basket/container to hold the leftover paper, binders, etc. Might get one for next to her bed as well for the books that she keeps there.

We bought a Pet Shop game that she's enjoying very much. Pretty simple overall, but the board changes every game so that's nice. Wanted Pet Shop Monopoly but we couldn't find it and didn't want to drive for 30 minutes to Toys R Us.

Hi moms! Sorry I haven't been around much this week. Life's just extra crazy with this fundraiser I'm heading up for school.

Challenge threads are posted. I've got one for the make-over menus. You can post there any time during the six weeks. I've also posted the first week's challenge. For those of you who remember last year's I had a different thread for each thing - exercise, gratitudes, etc. This time I'm doing it one thread per week. Post once and then edit your post. I hope this make sense. If you've got any questions, send me a Spark Mail. I've got another couple of weeks of controlled chaos and might miss something posted here or in next months chat thread.

Have a great weekend and Happy Halloween!

Happy Friday!

The guys got off at 6 this morning. Maegann didn't sleep after that so we were up and around earlier than usual. Headed to McD's for breakfast (she was finally hungry for the first time in days) and then to Walmart for some groceries. Also shopped for Isaac's Christmas gifts and scored! We have been watching for a Tonka Crane for two years now and today they had one. A BIG ONE!! Also found the Thomas track we wanted for him so I won't have to order it now. Maegann chose a new train for him that I can use in his stocking. So now all I have left is a few stocking stuffers. I'm loving being this far ahead on Christmas!! No crowds for this girl! emoticon emoticon

Right now Maegann is resting and watching Barbie Thumbelina. Later we will head to the bank and then to Target to try and find a couple baskets for her to put some doll clothes and small toy items in. Our goal is to get a handle on some toy overflow in her room! LOL Would love to find a new board game too while we're there for us to play this weekend.

Planning to get the cross-stitch out at some point today. Might be tonight while I'm watching my tape of Biggest Loser. Never did make it to the treadmill this week. Sigh.

Tim and I went to see "The Time Travelers Wife" yesterday and really enjoyed it. Different than the usual time travel ideas. Intriguing.

After several days of rain (seemed like weeks), the sun had finally come out and it's beautiful. I know many of you up north are already in the winter stage of the year and so I am sending you all some sunshine from TX.

We have no plans this weekend, except for DD ballet rehearsals. I am so glad since last weekend was so busy, we didn't even had time to get to the grocery store and buy food for the week. We are out of everything now.

Have a great weekend, ladies.

Lynn..please go to the doctor and get some antibiotics for the the bronchitis, I"m sure you are right about what you have, but it's important to keep any infection at bay right now with the flu around..

Janet, it sounds like you are going to end up having a nice weekend with DD..nice that you and she will have some mom-daughter time and DH and DS will have some father-son time.

I came home yesterday with little T after school and cracked open a box of cheese its (well, at least they were whole grain!), then had a couple of hershey kisses...really felt like I had blown the day. Then after we came home from soccer practice, I just had normal dinner, but still felt like I had not done well, but I just put it all into my tracker and I was only about 50 calories over my upper range, so I feel so much better..

It's that trying to be perfect that'll kill ya every time, I say..cos you know, we can't be perfect!!! I'm off to the bike, have a great day girls!

I think dd is doing a bit better today. Her periods of "need to rest" appear to be shorter. Hoping she'll feel like going to grandma's this afternoon.

Did run a couple of errands this morning. Library to pick up a couple videos and books I'd requested for our kings/queens study that is coming up next week. Then we went to the box office and I bought two tickets for Saturday's matinee of "Beauty and the Beast." Wanted to take Maegann to this show but knew we'd be gone. Tim agreed she should feel better by then and it would be a special thing to do since she's missing out on the trip.

I am glad to be staying home so need to switch gears again and figure out my "to do" list while the house is a bit quieter. Depends on how well she's feeling as to how much time I'll have.

Please send a masseuse cabana boy armed with a hot toddy and warm hands. I had to cancel my chiropractor/massage yesterday due to the volleyball banquet, and I needed it.

I believe (self diagnosis based upon years of practice) I have bronchitis, I know I am still sad, I also have work politics going strong. (Michigan has cut per pupil funding by $350 to $600 per pupil this week, after budges were set in July/August it is a very stressful time here in the motor city.

Can we go to a desert island in November?

Olga,

I have a friend who used to drink kahlua and club soda all the time, I'm trying to remember what it was called, as I think it actually had a name.. I'm thinking "cobra" but I'm really not sure at all..

In any event, I'm always up for a cyber drink.. bottoms up!

I've noticed that when you don't log in for a few days into a group or a thread, you don't get the e-mails anymore. Maybe that's what happened.

And that remind me. How are those cabana boys doing? Have you all seen them lately?

How about joining me at the bar area, ladies. Anyone for a drink? I saw a commercial for Khalua and club soda. I think that might sound good, not too many calories and it looked very refreshing on TV.

Christie~Glad you are actively looking for a different job! Will keep that covered in prayer.

Lynn~I'm heading to your blogs next. Now I'm a bit concerned about you!

What a CRAZY morning. Long story short...dd now has fluid in the inner ear that is causing her pain AND to throw up. Thankfully only two incidents of that so far. Doctor said Tylenol for the pain and Dimetapp Allergy/Cold meds 3x/day to help dry it all up. While dh had her at the doctor I was with the osteopathic doctor. That turned into a long morning as what I thought was ongoing infection turns out to be immune system so he wanted me to do an IV of Vitamin C and I have some other thing to take in another 45 minutes as well. I'm guessing another form of C. Anyway...instead of being home in time to take dd to the doc I was stuck in a chair with a drip for an hour. They said it would take 2+ hours and I said "I do not have that much time. One hour or we do this another day." They heard me! Not sure how I got so low on C...better step up the veggies and fruits that are loaded with that to avoid this again. I do NOT like this type of intervention! LOL

Appears our CO trip will be changed or cancelled now that dd is affected by the atmospheric pressure. Can't go up high in the mountains! Tim said he may just take Isaac and leave us girls home. We'll see...he needs to figure it out tonight.

I have been on overload... from work, from home, from health... (that one always follows doens't it?) My mom always said, if you can't say something nice don't say anything. So, rather than complain incessantly I am trying to keep quiet. Nothing earth shattering (except for the deaths at school... see blogs if you want to read sad stuff) but it's piling up.

So thanks to everyone who has been "looking after me, and reading my blogs" I'll be back when home, laryingitis and job are more "under control". You must know I'm a bit of a control freak.

Love to all... if I had time I'd spark goodie every one of ya'

Hi everyone! It looks so beautiful out our train window. Can you believe all the colors? It is "peak" here on LI. It is a very yellow year. Everything has a golden glow about it. Especially on rainy days like today. Tomorrow is supposed to be another wet one so we are planning to do some pumpkin carving after school.

Candi~You can do it!! Good to hear from you again!

Olga~Big hugs on a yucky start to the day. Aren't you glad days like this aren't the normal?

We're working through a little school before we head out for several hours. Doctor appointment and then our playdate/lunch. Should be home around 2:00 and then have 1 1/2 hours to finish up before dd heads to ballet. We may be doing some work tonight!

I was so excited to get the last of the scrapbook items purchased at Michael's on Sunday afternoon with their sale. I'd been wanting a certain 12x12 album for dd's Christmas and they were finally on 40% off! I had already purchased the scrap keeper, some papers and stickers so this was the last thing to complete the package. I'm done with her gifts other than stocking stuffers! Whoo Hoo! Now I need to get busy on ds. Need a BIG dumptruck and train track for his battery Thomas trains. Nice being so far ahead this year.

Candi, just take baby step. You will do great!!

I had the most frustrating morning. I could not wake up this morning. I laid in bed for 2 snoozes on my alarm clock. Then the kids could not get up. I almost had to drag them out of bed. Then the dog threw up twice and I had to clean up. I got mad at the kids for not helping me clean up or at least hold the dog so she doesn't jump on me while I am on the floor cleaning up. She think the only reason we are on the floor is to play with her. Then I dropped hot tea on the counter and it splashed me all over. Then, of course, everyone was late. Kids were late to school. I was late for work. When I got here, it was sooo cold. Someone turned down the heater and it was really, really cold. What a morning it was!!! Good thing it's not very busy at work so far.

I hope you all are having a much better day than me, Mommies.

As I sit here this morning cherishing my little time to my self I am so thankful to God for all He has given me. I have been having such a hard time getting any Sparking in for the last two months. I don't really know why either. I can't seem to find time at school to check in and I have not logged food for so long I can't remember.
But as I read all of your posts I realize that I am not trying hard enough. You are all so busy and still find the time. My goal for the rest of the week.... Spark daily. Get back to eating healthy.

Thank you all for being here and just doing what you do.

Good Morning Moms.. Just thought I'd check in before I head upstairs to get on my bike.. I woke up at about 4 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep, so I thought I'd come down, have a cup of coffee, and do a little sparking before going back up to wake up DH and ride my bike.. Right now it feels like a good plan, we'll see how I feel at 8 pm tonight, lol..

I hope everyone has a good day today. I have a busy day ahead at work, and little T has ice skating this afternoon, but the good news is that dinner is already made, I made it last night while I made last night's dinner, so I'm hoping it's an easy night..

Have a great day, everyone!

Happy Monday ladies! I'm enjoying all the Trick or Treat goodies I'm receiving today. I best get busy and hand out some myself!

ds is still not able to focus on schoolwork so we struggled through his penmanship and hours later tried his math. Didn't happen so I'm done trying today. Hoping he finds the desire to "do school" again soon, but since his age is right at the border of pre-k to k I don't care if we're still working this same curriculum in what should be his 1st grade work. He'll get there one day.

Had to take dad to the doctor this afternoon and things haven't changed much. He's down 3 more pounds and unless he gets his weight stabilized he will not be able to back off a couple of the meds. No more doctor appointments with him until Nov. 9.

I heard back from the Kentucky rescue about Number 3 and she said she had located a local home for him but since I was first on the list she wanted my permission to move forward in that direction. I told her definitely yes as that would be easier for her and he would have a good home. That's the goal...his home. I told her we had options with a local breeder now so not a problem. I'll post a couple photos later on of a little guy (Ellsworth) we are considering from this breeder. If not...we can pick from a litter in the spring. I'm shooting for Ellsworth due to the lesser cost. We could go get him next week if I can get Tim to say "okay!" I just wouldn't feel right bringing him home this week when we're going to be gone this weekend. Not enough time to be together before a car trip!

I am heading to the osteo guy in the morning as my sinus infection is back and I want to take care of it before the trip. I'm wondering if it is the yeast thing catching me again. Ugh!

After the doctor the kids and I will head to Amy's for our monthly lunch and social time together. Looking forward to that. Guess school will be hit and miss tomorrow with dd!

I really need to get menus lined out for this week. Not having meals planned is killing me!!! I've got some browned hamburger out so maybe I'll make a pasta/tomato thing for tonight. Not sure I have time to make homemade bread to go with it though.

Off to get our Rocks & Minerals unit study started for this week. Figured it was short and sweet for kids this age so we can have it done easily. Will start Kings & Queens next week. Maegann's ready for the costume creating that will go with this one!

Today is my dad's birthday, he's 69, and celebrating it in Italy (or to be specifc on a cruise ship off the Italian Coast). There, at least, is something to be happy about!

Hi moms, I hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday.

Christie, feel better soon.

Lynn, sounds like you've got a stressful week coming up. Take care of yourself.

I've got laundry going. DH is outside planting bulbs and the boys are playing before we have to get ready to head back in to the Halloween party at church. I'd almost rather not go. I baby sat my little nephew (3 and a half months) last night and didn't get home until about 11:30 - way past my bedtime. I was actually dozing on the couch when my SIL texted to let me know they were on their way home.

I'm going to post details of the Nov. challenge down in the sign-up thread. I've got a way to make it a bit less complicated than it was last year.

Enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Hey Moms:
I hope you are all having a great Sunday. I am enjoying our fireplace and our laptop right now. I am about to get going on the Laundry and make dinner. We are likely sleeping at my mom's tonight (empty as she is on a Mediterranian Cruise) because we seem to have a gas leak associated with the furnace.

I have 1 1/2 mummy costumes to finish up, and likely two funerals this week. So glad to have the family I do. Times like this really help me to appreciate what I have.

Take care all,
Lynn

Feel like I haven't been here in ages! Good to see everyone popping in about their weekend.

Christie~Get to feeling better! I am finding that my sinus infection is back so I'm going to try and get in with the osteo doc this week instead of waiting for the 10th of Nov.

Ended up taking Isaac back to the pediatrician on Friday afternoon as his nose and cough were worse again. Figured when that happened with Maegann it was a sinus infection and sure enough..him too! He's better today already.

His focus isn't as easily fixed though. Ugh! Can't even rely on him finishing a one directional task at this point and it is draining. He must be growing physically as the mind is truly just not firing on all cylinders! We managed to get through 1 1/4 days worth of his schoolwork.

We are still waiting to hear back from the KY shelter about "Number 3" but have since contacted the breeder we got Shelby from and she has a beautiful tri-color little guy named "Ellsworth" she is selling. If we decide to consider him I will contact KY and see the status as I would not feel right just saying no if she's been going to a lot of work to arrange transport. I like the price of KY but I know the breeding is marvelous for the local one.

We had our pumpkin carving party tonight (annual event for the Sunday class Tim attends) and that was fun. Unfortunately way too many bread/cheese things so my stomach is a little out of sorts.

Tomorrow my goal is to get the garden cleaned up for the winter. Today between errands, the wind and the 4 p.m. party I just didn't get to it. Won't take long...just need to get out there!

Oh...Tim has decided that I need to go on the CO trip this coming weekend. I was pretty whiney about it with myself yesterday as I was looking forward to 4 days alone. I'll just be sitting at his mom's place while everyone else is gone. Guess it will offer her company anyway. I will take my laptop and work on school lessons and also take my cross-stitch.

Well, better go get kids out of the tub and get a video going before bed.

Hi all.

DD school's food drive went really well. We had to wake up at 5:00 this morning to have time to deliver all the food from my work. It was wonderful to see so many kids up early and ready to gather the food and take it to the food banks. Even though it was very cold outside, seeing the kids warmed my heart. All of them ran to my car and started helping taking the food into the school.

Today is my parent's 45h wedding anniversary. Is that cool or what? I can't believe they put up with each other that long. We are throwing them a party at our house tomorrow night. I have so many things to do before the party, cooking, cleaning, picking up cake, balloons, etc. But, I can't wait. I love having parties at my house.

Hopefully, I get some rest Sunday.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Our furry friends do have such a huge place in our hearts don't they? I can just see you standing there in the store sobbing! I had another moment earlier when I was doing something at the kitchen counter. Shelby would always plant herself right in the aisleway between the counters just waiting and hoping for things to fall her way. The little things get us!!

Got the walnuts picked up easily and now the kids are out riding bikes. We're having beautiful fall weather this week so am thankful they are wanting to be out playing. It's supposed to turn much cooler next week.

Isaac did not do well with school this morning so I've dropped him from the "to do" list for today. He came down wanting to do math and then just wouldn't do it so I took his paper away and said "you're done...go play." Since we know he's borderline on age for K work I have no problem extending his year of doing K even if it means beginning 1st grade the middle of our next year. That's the positive of homeschooling. Meet them where they are! I think he's a bit confused though that I'm not making him do all his lessons. Waiting for him to ask about it though.

We were on our first ever trip to Disney when I got a call from one of my best friends who is a veterinarian and who was boarding our Sam for us that he was bleeding internally and in a bad way..so we made the very tough decision to put him down without us as we were not going to be home for almost a week..and I could not have chosen anyone better for him to be with.. Anyway, it was sad but felt so removed..then after we got home, I went food shopping, and as a matter of habit turned the carriage up the dog food aisle before realizing where I was..OMG, I stood there with tears streaming down my face almost sobbing, it was the first time it really hit me that our Sam was gone...I'm tearing up just thinking about it now.. I know I've said it already Janet, but I am so sorry..

Good morning ladies! Have the kids settled down with school so thought I'd jump on here quickly while I have time.

I'm fairly certain the rescue place will decide it is too much work to transport the dog so far, but until they say "no" we'll just keep that glimmer of hope alive. If it is a no we will work with the local breeder. I told Tim that means he has to stop looking at all the cute "available's" on the internet! LOL

The place is still so darn quiet without Shelby, but at least I'm not crying at the drop of a hat. I did go looking for her last night at bedtime as she wasn't on top of our bed. Sigh.

Outside goals today are to get the black walnuts picked up. The tree just dropped them the past couple of days so the front lawn is a mess underneath that tree.

Kids will go to grandma's at 4:00 and there isn't a decent show at the cheap theater so will just get some things done around the house. I also need to go to the craft store so will probably go by there after dropping the kids off. I could take them with me today earlier but I'd like to look at the scrapbook stuff as I need to start putting Maegann's Christmas packet together. I think they have papers on sale.

Have a good day Mommies!

Hey ladies:
Thanks to all for the support on my sad day yesterday. I managed to ride my exercise bike for an hour (while reading "The Help" a book I can't put down) I needed it. And I owed my partner Sue, some exercise time. It felt good.

Janet I hope it works out with the rescue dog.

Olga, sorry about the doofusses who didn't help you. I would've probably gotten snippy and said, "rather than watching the show how about a little help?" Then I get that "bossy" lable going. Great job on the food drive. What a great example to show your kids.(and the doofusses).

I'm having dinner with my old principal (retired about 10 years) we reconnected at a retirement party in June, I really enjoy her company and she mentored me well in my early teaching years. It's different to be meeting socially on "par" with each other, I kinda like it.

Hoping to read/ride again tonight.
Have a great day.

Good Morning Moms! Thought I'd check in before heading upstairs to shower.. had a great workout on the exercise bike this morning, lunches are made, I'm sipping my coffee..going up to wake up little T and get our day going..

Olga, I'm sorry that happened to you..I just blogged about how we seem to be surrounded by self-centered, if it's not for me I don't care attitudes these days.. To echo Janet, it's awesome to see that you are doing for others..I think our society needs far more yous and far less thems..but all any of us can do is to work on our own little corner of the universe, if you know what I mean!!

Janet I hope that new bassett works out for you guys.. I remember a few years ago when we lost our Sam, I kind of enjoyed the "dog free" days between losing Sam and getting our Scooby, who as I write this at this very moment is wreaking havoc upstairs with little T..sounds like the ceiling is gonna cave..oh well, I guess my time here is done, gotta go!!

Have a great day, folks!

Olga~I hear you the lack of respect people have for others anymore. Men (and women) just aren't being raised to think of others...only of themselves. Sad. On a bright note... GREAT job assisting with the food drive! Whoo Hoo!

Today there is a small glimmer of hope about a new basset to join our family. There is a rescue with a little guy that is about 1 1/2 and as cute as can be that needs a home. They are going to look into transporting him from the south to the west and also make sure his behaviors with a rescue workers family show that he appears to be okay in that respect before sending him so far from the shelter. We'll see! Told them we are in no hurry and would completely be okay with a "no" if it doesn't work out or if it is more work than they want to attempt. We can always go to the local breeder we got Shelby from and get a puppy from her again. She raises show dogs so their lines are awesome.

Off to watch SYTYCDance before heading to bed.

Ladies, I am mad. And what better way to express being mad at men then talk about it with a group of nice woman.

Short background story. My DD is in a service/volunteer organization in school. They are now collecting food the our 2 local food banks. The company I work for has a volunteer organization also that helps our community and so I asked them to help us bring in more food. Boy, they sure did. The people in my company gave us more food than I ever thought they would. It's wonderful.

So, I borrowered a cart and put a lot of food, mainly cans in to take to my car to deliver to my DD organization, which will in turn deliver to the food banks. Here I am trying very hard to push my very heavy cart through a double door in our front office. 3 big man were sitting in the lobby and I am totally amazed and shocked that none of them tried to help me or even open the door for me. All 3 were starring at me, but none helped. That made me feel very bad because here I am trying to do good for the community and they will not even open the door for me.

What is this world coming to?

Hi everyone!
Last night was back to school night. It was so much fun. I love my son's preschool. The teachers are just such a great bunch and they seem so happy to be there. We got to "play" in ther classroom and then go to a meetining room and listen to some speakers and eat goodies(I only had one!)and then they had a slide show of all the kids in school. SOOOOOOOO cute, and so much fun to hear all the parents saying "awwwww"!!!!

Good Morning! Just thought I'd check in and say hi. It is another beautiful day here in northeastern Massachusetts, the trees are pretty, the sky is blue and it is crisp but not cold.. Little T and I came to work early this morning and then walked to school..my way of making sure I do SOME exercise on a day I didn't get up and hit the bike and probably won't get out at lunch to the gym..

Found the most amazing feature on the fitness page this morning..it will track your miles for you if you estimate your starting and ending location on your walking route. Took me a few minutes to figure out how to use it, but it was well worth it, and I know I'll use it a lot!

I hope everyone is doing okay, and wish you all a great day.

Just when I think I'm too busy and nutsy I get back here (sorry T) and see all the sad things happening to my friends.

Janet, I'm sorry. But, like you said, what "used to be" bad eating doesn't even register any more. I think you probably burned a DQs worth of calories in tears, and supporting your kids through the emotions.

I'm trying to think of some suggestions for your Issac. You know 5 year old boys are my specialty this year having 16 of them in my class of 25. One in particular likes to fuss, but when I lay out the choices clearly. He makes the "better" (read "what I want him to do") one more and more frequently lately.I think you probably already figured out that giving him (some) control will allow him to manage his emotions/frustrations more and the beauty of homeschooling is that you have the freedom to do that w/in reason. ... and as you say he's ahead of schedule compared to public so you have time.

Sorry for the ailing folks, My Claire is "better, but not good" as she put it.She did go to school today.

Much to do, but wanted to check in.
Hugs to all
Lynn

Thanks for the sweet thoughts everyone. I am doing much better about the loss of Shelby but did get caught off guard by her rug in the school room this morning. I thought I had everything removed and washed. Oh well.

School with Sir Isaac. I talked with dh extensively about this last night and we decided to back off on his reading at least for a time. Today I was only going to involve him "together school" as he loves that but he came down when his sister was taking a break and stated "Ready for school." I had him choose the work and he picked Math. Did great. Then he said "I'm ready for writing." I wasn't sure, but I thought I'd see how it goes when he feels like he is in charge of it and he did fine again. I'm not going to mention reading though and see if he does at some point. Since he's only just turned 5 and he wouldn't even be allowed in our public school K classes because of when his birthday falls, so no problem slowing some things down for him. I know the reading is definitely ramping up too as far as skills so it might be pushing him and his ability to focus for right now.

Took the kids to McD's for breakfast this morning and then we stopped at the park to collect leaves. One of our "together school" projects today is making placemats with them. Should be fun.

Have a new sponsor child as of yesterday. We "lost" one of ours as she is now 19 and graduated out of their program so they send a new portfolio in the hopes that you'll pick up the new child. We did. She's a cutie and also from the Philippines. Age 9 and her birthday is 5 days before Maegann's in February so that was fun. Maegann was excited to have a "new kid" that is closer to her age. Right now we have a boy that is 6 in Zambia and another Filipino girl that is 16. Was a bright spot in a sad day!

Food was a wreck yesterday. I didn't keep tracking once we hit Dairy Queen and had sundaes after putting Shelby down. It's funny though... what I consider a wreck now is nothing compared to what they used to be!

Janet, I am so sorry about Shelby, it has been a tough year for you, but you are doing a great job getting through it.

Teaching and boys......hmmmmm, yeah no ideas here either. We had to do homework with Nicholas last night and he has the potential to do it, but he couldn't read the work "the" last night. Frustrating as it was, we got through it. Both his father and I tried telling him if he just did it and didn't stall, he could get back to coloring, but he wasn't listening. I'll say a prayer you find a resolution and quickly!

Good Morning Ladies..I just thought I'd drop by and say a quick hello before I start my day. Janet, I'm sorry about Shelby, and that I'm unable to give you any advice on the teaching stuff.. boys are so darn hard to reign in sometimes! (I hope that was the right "reign" to use!)

I got up and exercised this morning, which always makes me feel good. Busy day ahead, I'll need all the energy I can muster! Have a good one everyone!

Janet, I'm so sorry about Shelby.

Wish I had some advice on the home schooling, but since I have issues just getting one to do homework, there's nothing I can say.
