Christie - don't apologize. We know you have a lot going on and the point was to get us to drink more water. That's where we won - so, thank you!

Janet - we went to a nice place in Charlottesville - pool to play in, walked around UVA and downtown, and visited a winery and Monroe's plantation. Nice to get away and it didn't rain!

Happy 4th everyone! Have a safe and fun one. We're going to a friends for bbq. We were at another's last night and the driveway fireworks scared DD - the whistling ones - plus she was up WAY past her bedtime.

emoticon Now...I am in Nason's room with a flashlight sprinkling baby powder if I see an ant! I have the creepy crawlies and will get rid of my paper clutter this weekend! I hate bugs! Tracy...I feel your pain...sort of! Going to check Nason again...won't let my husband spray anymore raid until tomorrow so his room can air out. It is just one or two ants...but they must die!

Have a good night!

I have a bug guy that comes out four times a year...we live in a rural area and the house gets full sun...so we have a contract. They might have to come back for the ants once it stops raining. It is the rain that is bringing them in. We never had a problem before. Nason does not eat in his room so I don't know why they were in there and today was the first day. I vacuum all the time too.

The sun peeked out and I feel so much better, even thought it is after dinner. I need some sun and badly! emoticon

Olga~Thanks for the tip on treating the house bugs!

Lynn~Thanks for the update on Tracy.

Kids are out in the wading pool so thought I'd check email quickly before starting in on "together school" again. At least the laptop is up and ready today!

I just want to share with you all Home Defence. That is what I used to get rid of ants in our house that were all over the rug my kids were playing on. It seemed like it was millions of them. Now, I use Home Defence twice a year and it seems to be working. I spray around the house, inside and outside. Now and then we get a few bugs, but mostly flying ones.

Lynn: Thanks for the update on Tracy. We just discovered some tiny ants in Nason's room. I believe it is just due to the wet weather...which has no end in sight. Poor Tracy....hope she gets some sun soon! emoticon Sending her good wishes! emoticon

Hey all:
I had a spark mail from Tracy yesterday. First and foremost she said to tell everyone she misses us. She is still being followed by dark clouds. Her back is still undiagnosed and a problem, her house has an ant problem that won't go away despite massive attepmts and Michael "isn't going with te flow" so well right now. On the plus side she's enjoying "flexing her brain" in her chem class, though she can't use it as she hoped when she signed up.

I am sure she would welcome positive thoughts as she awaits sunshine both literally and figuratively.

Cynedra you rock, in setting a new destination for us, we will be vacationing for the week of the 4th-11th so I'm no help until after then.

Christie, congrats on joining the ranks of the employed for cash. Everyone of us works, that's for sure!

I've got a doc. appt. so can't say more now, but wanted to let you all know.

Take care of yourselves, so glad we've got each other!

Puppies? Oh, no. Just one puppy. She is a mini dachshund. My DH had always talked about getting a lab,and just hated little dogs. Then he just fell in love with this little dog. I was shocked. But, yes, here we are - with a puppy. We had her since Saturday. At first, she was afraid of the grass, but when I went home at lunch and took her out of her crate, she went outside and was a good girl. She seems very smart for 2 months old. She is very tiny. This weekend, I will post some pictures of her.

Thanks Janet!~ It is nice to have some time to spark! I have to start work a week early as they are sending me and the other math teachers for a four day class on teaching math emoticon (hee hee...couldn't resist that one!). The first official day of school is 8/31 with the kids coming on 9/1. They told me that the special ed. teachers don't really go into the rooms that day...but they will see me that day! I won't be ignored! emoticon

I have not heard from Tracy either. If she does not check in by tomorrow, I will start a new chat for July. I wanted to wait and give her a chance to do it. I have some fun ideas for July too!

Christie~Glad it is all finalized. Definitely sounds like there are many positives for your current life situation even though it isn't YOUR ideal job at the moment. Congratulations and happy planning! When do you officially report to work?

Trying to get some school accomplished between the boys tantrums. So frustrating when he chooses to meltdown on work that he KNOWS HOW TO DO! I know his goal.... bypass this particular task to get to the artwork. I like doing what is more fun as well, but we all know there is drudgery to be accomplished at times. emoticon

Has anyone heard from Tracy?

Christie... congrats on the job!! You've got your foot in the door now, so hopefully, you're on the path to getting the job you really want. It is very difficult to work when you have a small child at home, but it's the reality for a lot of us. As Olga said, you're one of us working Moms now.

Olga, enjoy your new "baby"... pups are so much fun -once you get through the crying at night and the peeing in the house! That part doesn't last long. Our puppy is about 7-months-old now and weighs about 70 pounds! 10 pounds for every month... When he was younger, his "kennel" was our master bathroom - when we went to bed, off he'd go to the bathroom. Now, he prefers to sleep outside on the porch.

Have a great day, Moms!

Thanks Olga...the low pay was a bit shocking since I have 11 years experience and a Master's but the Superintendent gave me one extra year toward my credit (starting with six years) and next year there is a nice pay job...he did the best he could. We, DH and I, will slowly dig ourselves out of the hole and all will be well.

A working Mom...wow...I was just getting used to being a "stay-at-home-Mom" but as long as I get to keep the title, "Mom", I am OK with everything!

Thanks for the support. Now...to stay away from the oreos...where is my Axe lady when I need her?

Christie,
I had a really good feeling when you said it was what was best for you and Nason. GOd had His hand in this one. You will also have your foot in the door for something better when it comes along. ((HUGS))

Olga,
Ok here is what I did when I potty trained both of my German Shepard pups. Any time he ate or drank he went out. Any time I went potty he went potty...even at 2 am! I am also a firm believer in putting them in a kennel at night. They need their own "den". Hope your pup is a fast learner!

Nice day here so far. Temp on computer says it is 76 outside. I'm sure it will get hotter. Need to take books back to library and do some picking up and cleaning.
Everybody have a great day!

Don't feel bad about the pay. Like you said, in these economic times, little money is better than nothing.

Janet: You are so sweet! I was so tired by the time I got in yesterday and once dinner was done all I could do was sit in the recliner and eat ice cream! emoticon I celebrated yesterday but today it is diet...spark diet....where is the fruit?

So...my interview was at 1 pm. Which meant that I had to shower and feed Nason early so all was done when my DH watched him. My DH had a conference call while I was gone and I wanted Nason to be all taken care of. I left my house at 12:30 pm and almost did not make it to the interview. The Superintendent was very nice but I was so nervous.

The pay is really l-o-w but next year it will jump up to a better position. He said it was the economy. Basically, it is a $14,000 difference between my last job and this one, but since they were the only school district to hire me, I have to take it. I won't be able to afford the medical( I believe) but am covered with DH as long as he works. I need a car but I am waiting for some money to come through and that will be taken care of. God is good. A job is a job and there is a future there. I don't really like the job I was hired for, but it is the best kind of job to do with having Nason. I will just wait it out until I get my own classroom again. At this point, I am just the special ed. teacher supporting the regular ed. teacher and won't really be teaching. I am very disappointed with that, but mentally I do believe it is best. I tried to do the full classroom when I returned to work and just couldn't do it with caring for Nason and the house. Once he is older, then I can do my 100% teaching again. I feel in my heart that God opened this door and to just trust Him. I have to learn how an elementary school functions anyway as I have always taught in Middle School. I came home with loads of paper work to go through and organize which is what I will deal with. I will make the best of it.

I do want to apologize for dropping the ball with the water challenge. I just couldn't do it. I have been trying to keep up with my responsiblities here as well, and everything took a back seat to job hunting. Teena and Janet: THANKS! And for everyone who participated in the water challenge! THANKS! We will run another challenge in the winter when we are all bored and looking for diversion! Summer is a hard time to do such a thing. We have all learned. BUT...thanks!

Olga - good luck with the new puppy. The best advice I can give is to praise every "potty" break outside and don't let the dog see you clean up the messes in the house. (From our puppy training class) As far as sleeping though the night - it does get better but it is like a new baby.

Tonight we are going to the baseball game. It's Hannah's first time and I hope the weather stays like it is now, partly sunny and 70 but t-storms are forecasted.

Olga~Time, patience and consistency! Sounds like raising a child doesn't it?!

Christie~Can't wait to hear from you. I'm praying they offer you more than you expected!

We're off for our monthly lunch/playdate with my friend and her girls. Supposed to be 94 again today but this morning it is still fairly nice and there's a breeze so we're going to walk over to the park near where she lives. I'm sure this afternoon the kids will just want to hit the wading pool once we're home.

No other plans until tonight once they are in bed....watch our tape of America's Got Talent.

Hello Mommies. I hope everyone is having a good week.

You will never believe what my family and I did this past Saturday. We got a puppy. This is very out of character for me. I am the kind of person who would read up all I can on the breed and do research on house breaking, etc. Then I would take my time picking out the just the right dog or puppy to join our family. At least that’s what always thought I would do. But, we all just fell in love with the cutest puppy. We wanted to bring her home even before we knew her breed. She is a mini Dachshund.

So, for those of you with dogs, any trick for house breaking and getting them to sleep through the night. I am so tired.

Christie, I hope all goes well.

Today is my last interview for the teaching job. I am worried about what they will pay me but as NO one else has called (other than the job I wanted that would not hire me due to my experience), I must take this job and make the best of it. I will meet with the teacher I am replacing afterwards. I will check in later. How is everyone? I will be so happy to put this all behind me and then I will just worry about leaving Nason at pre-school!

Candace- Is Tim related to my son? Jacob's only 11 now so we don't actually allow him to fly by himself but I can just see him doing that exact thing! It's a good thing you have a while to calm down. Hopefully he learned his lesson for the return flight????

Lynn, you are a peach! Would you believe I actually thought of you when I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what to do. I had no idea you were so close to the airport. At least he had the hotel room for the night and was able to order some dinner even though it was close to midnight when he landed. I have to say, Detroit Metro is a very nice airport - lots of amenities. Much nicer than LAX!!

Janet, yes, Tim travels to Canada (either Vancouver or Sault St. Marie Ontario) probably twice a year. It's not like he didn't know the airport routine! He's just like a child with no concept of time!!! His entire family thinks I'm a saint for putting up with him! LOL

I've forgotten the sunscreen before too... luckily, none of my kids are fair-skinned like me and they all tan nicely.

Candace~Does Tim travel often? LOL I was just shaking my head while I was reading. I would have bit a little unhappy myself.

Hope everyone is having a good Monday. Kids have been very high maintenance today for whatever reason. We ran a few errands this morning (banking mostly) and I did pick up Battleship to play with dd as she needs more games to learn logic. Figured we're in for days on end of 95+ and they can't spend it all outside. I was hoping to get more lessons entered but I'm just now getting a few minutes (it is 5:00 p.m.) so it isn't looking likely until after supper anyway. I received my Vol. 2 for our together school curriculum today so will run it to the office store tonight after supper (to get a ME break) and have it rebound as a spiral. Just works easier for me.

Tonight's supper is easy anyway....clean out the refrigerator night! Didn't get to yesterday since we had the kids' friends over and didn't think that would be too appealing.

Oh....bad mommy moment....I forgot to put sunscreen on Maegann yesterday and her back and shoulders really got burned. Some on the chest too. I can't believe I forgot that!!

Candace... Wish I had known, I could have had him over to dinner. We live 20 minutes from Detroit metro, and I seriously would have LOVED to have helped him out.

Pellston is a tiny town, I'm surprised there was a flight there at all.

Sorry for his troubles and your worry.

Take care,
Lynn

Hi everyone,

I am SO glad it's Monday... this weekend was the most stressful I've had in a long time. Tim left for Canada on Saturday and due to his usual dilly-dallying, he missed his flight from L.A. to Detroit (although his luggage did make it onto the plane). So he had to fly standby and got the next flight -4 hours later- which caused him to miss the connecting flight up to the border. This flight is on the little turbo-prop plane and only goes twice daily and the next scheduled flight (the following day) was already full. Luckily, there's a hotel right in the Detroit airport, so he got a room for the night. But he still had to hang around all day Sunday as the next flight was at 9pm, WHICH HE MISSED BECAUSE HE FELL ASLEEP!!! I spent an hour and a half calling his cell, with no answer, so I phoned the airport and had him paged - no response. I then got the number for the airport police and was just dialing when Tim called me. He got VERY lucky... the airline had another flight up to another little town (Pellston, MI) so they put him on that one. He arrived there around midnight and took a cab all the way to his Mom's in Canada - about 70 miles. He had to drive back down today to the "Chippewa International Airport" -love that big name for a tiny airport - to pick up his luggage... they close at midnight so he couldn't pick it up last night. I was torn between worry for his health and wanting to strangle him for causing all this in the first place!!! When he called this morning and said, "I miss you already", I was VERY tempted to hang up on him!!!

Okay, I think I'm done venting... thanks for "listening", ladies!

olga - good job on only 5 m&ms! If I had bought the bag I would have eaten it!

on the birds....As soon as the babies have fledged take down the nest. Just make sure that they are all gone. The parents will build another nest somewhere else. You only have a day or 2 before they start over again so keep your eye on it. Look in you bird book or on the internet to see how long it takes. Most eggs are 2 wks to hatch and then another 2 weeks for them to fly.

Tina - I am in NY - we had the t-storms about dinner time on friday - they were pretty wild.

Lu - Congrats on the so far successful potty training! Now you have to learn where every baby friendly bathroom in the world is!

I am so excited to tell you all that we had a beautiful, sunny day yesterday. I even sat in the sun for 20 minutes! It felt so good. We even took jack to the park for an hour and I was able to harvest some greens and some carrots from the garden for a salad with dinner! Hooray!!!!!!

Candi: I don't know what your son wrestled with but it sounds awful!~ Poor baby! I hope he feels better soon!

It is still raining and I will assume it will rain tomorrow too. I am going to start my super-duper "almost back-to-work" cleaning and also a real exercise program. Tomorrow...20 minutes on the elliptical. I have to build back up to 30 minutes again!

Hope you are all well. Working on water totals!

We're having hot, hot, hot! We also brought home a couple extra kids with us from church so they've been playing in the wading pool and now they are all out riding bikes, etc. I'm heading to town to get stuff to make tacos for a quick supper so I don't take them back to church tonight with an empty stomach. My poor son sure does need more playdates at his house to learn how to play with his friends. Sigh. It will come, but for such a generous boy, he is so thoughtless when it comes to others at play.

I've been getting lots of time to enter "together school" lesson plans for the fall and I'm thankful for that. We're going to start the year with the Obedience section and the Kings & Queens unit sounds FUN!

Hi Christie! I am good. Looks like we might get some relief from the heat here today. YEAH! Got James signed up for swimming lessons next week. He is so excited! He got in a mess of chiggers(hope everyone knows what they are)at the sitters on Friday when I was getting my hair cut. Needless to say the majority of the bites are in a place that is awfully uncomfortable for boys!!!! Using anti-itch cream but may need to get him some Benadryl.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I actually drank four glasses of water yesterday too!

Hi Moms! The heat wave continues, but it's supposed to ease up tomorrow.

My sister got married last night - just a simple little ceremony with immediate family only. I'll get some pictures posted in a day or two.

Had another good days at the Farmers Market - sold 23 jars (I think - I lost track emoticon ).

Ouch! I did grocery store today, or Costco really. I hadn't done a meat stockup in months so I bought loads of meat plus wild salmon and wild tuna. Also lots of stuff for the kids for lunch next week since they're going to day camp. I came home and divided up all the meat and got it in the freezer. I spent $400 but at least I won't have to do that kind of shopping for a long while.

Now I'm sitting on the couch and about to go get an ice pack for my foot.

Good afternoon ladies!

We did some school this morning and then decided the weather was going to remain cool enough that I would get the lawn mowed. Kids played out in the wading pool part of the time and the rest just doing whatever around the yard. Nice having it done again for the week! Only other "must do" either tonight or in the morning is grocery shopping. We're out of everything!

No big plans for the weekend and that's nice as they've all been so busy this month!

Hey everyone, Checking in on Friday. Had a rain storm yesterday, and other than that not bad weather, Kids are busy, we are having fun. Inheirited a tv cabinet from my sister who got a wall mount, so I've got some organizing to do so that we can get the old one out, and the new one in.

B-day party on Saturday evening, Grad. Party on Sunday... I don't have to make dinner again til Monday!

Have fun!

Hi, Mommies. I see a lot of heat and rain for a lot of you. I hope that will not spoil your weekend.

I did a bad thing yesterday. I bought some dark chocolate covered peanut M&Ms. They were so good. I bought a big package, but I only had 5. I was trying to be semi-good about this. I do feel a little guilty, but not guilty enough not to eat them again today. Sometimes, I just have these cravings.

We have unwanted pets at our house and they are very annoying. We have 2 birds (mommy and daddy) build a nest under our porch cover in our back yard. In general, I love having nests and birds around, but these are so territorial that I don't think I want them anymore. As soon as anyone comes out to the back yard, they start flying really close and screaming their little heads off and my kids are scared of them. Someone said they are Swallows. Well, I looked them up in internet. Some Swallows leave after babies leave and some stay around all year long. So, if these birds never leave their nest site, I don't know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

hey chickies, sorry about alll the crazy weather you are all having ( either continuous rain or continous heat!!) Today we are having sun and pop up showers.
Yesterday was the ideal weather day for us. It was great sunshine and heat in the a.m. so we played in the blow up pool with some playdaters, then thunderstorms....yes during NAP time!!!!Then we went to the firemans carnival and ds rode his first carnie rides and won himself a fish(which we did not pick up hehe) We have a huge pond near our back yard and it is full of frogs, so last night there were a couple in the yard, so i took son out to meet his first frong face to face hehe He tried to find it this a.m. but I told him the frog went back to the pond.(these are HUGE frogs, almost scarrrrrryyyyy. If any of you are stephen king readers, it always reminds me of his short story with the killer frogs hehe)
Potty training is FANTASTIC!!!!! He has only had an occasional accident, but other than that, he is doing great.(I still put a diaper on at night since i still have a 1/2 a case left!!! 95% of the time he is dry in the a.m. (such a waste of a diaper.) But I don't have to buy them anymore YEEEEEHHAAA!!!
Ok lady chickies. I am trying to get my butt in gear to go to the Y and the library.
Get relief from the weather

We had some storms last night and it's overcast this morning. But it's keeping things cooler. Yesterday I took the kids to the Science Center but it was so crowded. I think half the summer day camp programs from the tri-state (West PA, WV and OH) area were there. Didn't get to see much of the new robotics exhibit but we'll go back again. Maybe earlier in the week. After that we went to the library and farmer's market. Today I don't want to do much of anything.

Good morning Mom's! Today...it is RAIN! and five more days forecast for it! The humidity has arrived too. I will just have to accept rain as a daily thing.

I am starting over again and hopefully will get to that 10 pounds lost! emoticon I am still a bit stressed and not sleeping and now TOM is late. I feel crampy...but she is two days late. I took a pregnancy test on Sunday but hate to tell DH that it was too early to test if I am this late...but I am sure I am fine...I have to work now! It is the stress and aging I believe that knocks my cycle off.

Well, I have some sympathy cards to write out and must log in my food...coco puffs for breakfast....oh well...it is cereal! emoticon

Hi Moms,

Sorry I've been missing for a couple of days... went to Disneyland on Tuesday for my B-day. Whew! Very long day, but we had so much fun. Got there at 9am and left at 10pm after the fireworks. I'm still tired!!! Elizabeth just kept going all day, like the Energizer Bunny! That girl has enough energy for 3 or 4 people. She got to play tambourine with the Jazz band in New Orleans Square and also got chosen to dance and play a drum with the characters in the parade. She loved it!!! I'll post some pictures as soon as I get more time.

So sorry about all the wet weather back east... we're having some humidity too, but nothing compared to you.

Have a good night Ladies.

Guess I'll be thankful mine only spent weeks breaking the crayons into tiny pieces. LOL I can only imagine the green mess from the molars!

Forecast is showing 90's without end so we'll probably get the wading pool set up on the back patio. We've been waiting for hot days to do that!

dh and I are going to go see a matinee after the kids go to grandma's. Haven't gone for a few weeks and there isn't much out but we both thought the one about girlfriends haunting from the past sounded cute/silly. Can't remember the full title and I'm too lazy to look it up online right now.

The other thing I will work on today is getting some of the together school material into the computer. Also need to finish booking flights for Women of Faith. Have them held as I need Janette's frequent flyer number. Always makes October seem closer when we book the flights.

Christie, you know, the reason people are not calling might just be the economy. I just read this piece of news. See last paragraph.

WASHINGTON – The number of people filing new jobless claims jumped unexpectedly last week, and the total unemployment benefit rolls rose to more than 6.7 million.

The Labor Department data released Thursday show jobs remain scarce even as the economy shows some signs of recovering from the longest recession since World War

Several states reported more claims than expected from teachers, cafeteria workers and other school employees, a department analyst said.

Christie,
What is it with the crayons? James went through a spell where i really had to watch him or he would heat two at a time! YUCK! Not doing that anymore thank goodness.

James gets to start swimming lessons on July 6th. I am so excited for him. He loves the water!! That I am thankful for b/c I can not swim!! i am a land lover!!
Taking care of DH today and last night. He had a calcium deposit(?) removed from his scalp yesterday afternoon. It was pretty bad. Took the doc lots of digging and prying to get it all out. DH has lots of stitches and is in lots of pain. He has had several of these crazy things removed but none that were this bad or hurt this much after. Poor baby. emoticon

Looks as if we might get some rain today!

Thanks Sue!I appreciate that. I feel in limbo a bit with the job but it was a real offer, just needs to be finalized. No one else has called for an interview and that is scary...NO ONE called? I wonder why and I wonder if is it money or they were not "real" job postings meaning they were filled before they were listed.

Last night Nason ate a green crayon. It was ground into his molars and I decided to scrub it out with a wash cloth. Yep...he bite me so I could not sew or t type last night! It is a blood blister on the side of my finger which feels better today even though a bit sore. His bath water was green too!

Then, he was up a lot last night...not sure why. I don't remember the last time he was up at night. One time I heard him cry out and when to check on him and he was standing next to his safety gate....which he never does. He was asleep again by 4 am and slept until 9 am.

I am taking him out today no matter what the weather!

I promise to do water totals tonight....sorry for not being very good with this challenge!

Miss you all! Stay dry or cool!

Christie

I can do this. I will do this. Becoming the Christie I want to be.

Focusing on fitness minutes and not the scale! Just me and my fitbit.
