NO, I probably wouldn't do it. We essentially go "cabin camping" on vacation, so there's no parks, curbs, trash cans, etc. to do something like that.

If I traveled for business, I'm sure I'd find a way to get some exercise, but to just head out by myself in a strange city with no clue where to go? No way! I find that to be a dangerous idea, even in broad daylight. She had her DH with her the way it sounded, but mine wouldn't go with me, if he was with me.

Okay ladies, I've gotta be honest. We tend to walk and hike and swim on vacation which up until this year would make for much more exercise than I was used to. Now... I seriously doubt, no I know for sure that I am not going to burn precious family vacation time "creating exercise". I don't vacation long enough to make that necessary in my mind.

If I traveled for business, that might be a different story. But, isn't it called vacation for a reason? If my family or part of it, felt like doing "exercise" in the "work out room", or if I really wanted to . Okay, but vacation is for what you want.

Okay... my secret's out.

When I've been away without a computer, I've used my cell phone to log my food. You can access Spark people Mobile that way.

I admire here ingenuity, but I don't think I'd do that type of workout, but my fitness level isn't what her's is either..

Tiger, I was worried about going on vacation last year too... at the time I was strictly a "machine exerciser," I liked going to the gym and either working on the treadmill, elliptical or bike.. But this winter I discovered and grew to really like the workout dvd, so now I think I will just bring a couple along every time I go on vacation, then if I don't have the opportunity to go out and walk or something, I can always pop that in. As for tracking, maybe you could track on paper while on vacation??

Thanks for this Tracy, it is very inspiring to see someone so dedicated!!

As I am watching this video, I am thinking to myself:

1. Well, that is why she is so fit...she works out all the time, even on vacation.

2. She mustn't have small children or has someone who can allow her the time alone to workout. I barely have time to use the bathroom on vacation no less work out.

More power to her...perhaps one day when Nason is older and I am in shape.

I would go for a long walk on vacation and really want to take Nason hiking one day.

Great clip Tracy! emoticon

Last year I printed out a total body resistance band workout that I could do in the condo we were renting. I did have access to the exercise room and did use the treadmill and bike.

Would I do a workout like this - probably not. I do like using walking as a exercise while on vacation but I would keep the strength training in the hotel room.

I'm camping for a week this year so I will be out walking quite a bit and cooking my own meals so hopefully I can keep on track for the most part.

Thanks for sharing that! That was pretty cool... I especially liked the back exercise using the swing. Would I do that? Probably NOT! I'm even self-conscience about stretching in public when I'm out walking - I know it's stupid but that's just me! :)

I am a little worried to tell you all the truth... I am going on 2 vacations this summer. The first one is in 1 week! eeekkkksss! I have been consistently using Spark to track nutrition and fitness, etc. for 4 months now and when we're away, I don't think I'll have access to a computer all the time. I'm hoping to get a little exercise in (going to bring my band) and I'll have to be particularily careful about what I eat BUT I am not expecting a miracle. I am sure throughout that week and a half I will probably gain some weight BUT will just have to get back at my routine when I return.

Any suggestions from anyone?

Renee

Becky's workout looked great, but I don't think I could do that on my own if I was out, I would need someone to motivate me. I tend to do my exercises in my room if I am in a suite along with walks, or do walks/hikes if I am camping.

I also wouldn't do that while on vacation, perhaps some stuff in my hotel room but I don't like people watching all my fat wiggle and jiggle like jell-o! Maybe if I were fit, but I'm not sure....I don't like to be watched when doing things I'm self conscious about.

I also tend to do alot of walking on vacation, and swimming.
I would most likely not do what she has done.

I don't do a formal workout on vacation but we tend to do so much walking that I end up losing weight while I'm gone. I even managed to lose 5lbs in Italy while eating pizza, gelato and pasta every day.

Almost forgot, the best exercise on vacation - swimming - which is something I rarely get to do at home.

Yes and No. I am actually better about getting out and walking when I am on vacation. Our vacations are generally the beach or the mountains. I love walking along the beach early in the morning or evening. And mountain hikes are enjoyable. I might even go up and down stairs a few times. Using the bench and swing would NOT happen though. Although I have used a curb.

Vacation season is fast approaching and part of the healthy lifestyle concept is taking our proper nutrition and exercise with us every day whether we're on vacation or not....

so just for fun, watch the following (short) video and "weigh" in if you would or would not do this while on vacation?
