Spent most of the day at the hospital as dh had a heart procedure done. Results show no heart disease. Yeah! Then we went to eat at Texas Roadhouse for my one meal of the day. Good thing, too, as when I went to track my food I discovered that TR coats ALL their food in butter, so calories are out of this world! Someone did mention that you can ask for them not to butter your food. Unfortunately it was too late for me. lol

Just did some Sansone walking and a bootcamp while watching a movie with dh. Time to head to bed as I have to get dd to basketball in the morning. Night!

I did sleep in a little longer than normal this morning, but I feel like myself again. Yea!! Looking forward to taking on the day. My middle DD's birthday is tomorrow, so I'll be out and about today getting ready for that. Where have the 11 years gone to? I've love it!

I think it really did help. DH woke me up when he got ready for work and I decided to get up for a while. I'm still awake at nearly midnight, but think I might be able to get back to sleep pretty soon. Next week we're back to normal--I hope.

After two naps and some pampering by my oldest DD, I've got most of my energy back and am ready to go! Tomorrow, Lord willing a normal routine!

I am absolutely dragging today! Sitting at the computer and my eyes keep falling shut--I think I'm going to follow Tambi and lay back down for a while. I feel okay. I think it's just DH's night shift and not getting to bed at any kind of normal time that's doing it.

I'd go outside for a while but it's pouring rain, so I think I'll put another log on the fire and go for a power nap instead.

Not sure if I'll be able to check in tomorrow, but I'll try.

Good afternoon! While the kids work on school, I'm sorting through papers, trying to finish the year-end stuff for dh's business.

We just got back from a run to Subway and WMart. Picked up a lemon cake mix to make into strawberry shortcake for dh's birthday, and everyone got him a card.

Back to the office again! Crunch time! :)

Trying to make up for my lack of getting nothing done yesterday. I won't be able to do a thing tomorrow. Tutorial. Which isn't all bad. I'm learning to knit. I also am taking a couponing class. If I happen to learn anything I will pass it on. I'm trying to keep the house quite so my Girl can get her English done but it is getting late. I may have to see just how much noise I can get away with. I can't afford to do nothing again today.

Good morning ladies!

We are snow covered here too! I am not a fan of snow, so I plan on staying in. I stayed in all day yesterday too so I may NEED to venture out after hubby gets home!! LOL

I am making progress on this weight loss, finally. The blood pressure medicine is helping, I think. I water is coming off and now maybe I can really shed the weight not just the water! LOL

Well, gotta get back to school work. I'll check back in later!

Oooo, an undercover agent among us. :) Watch out ladies! Just joking! Terri, you're funny.

Snow, snow and more snow out there today. Guess what I'm going to be doing. Staying inside...the children will be shoveling/playing, but not me. The older I get, the more the cold bothers me.

School, bills, laundry and office work here today. We're expecting a few inches of snow, too. And I'm so happy that Parenthood's back on! We watch that and Life Unexpected for family night. Think I'll make some kettle corn for us to enjoy while we watch tonight!

I love watching their creative side expand. The possibilites are endless.

We have school planned for today and I'm praying my 7-year old daughter doesn't break down in tears again today. I've been having a time with her and getting her school done. My older girls, no problem, but my dear Elizabeth, well, let's just say it's not the same. I know this is a season for her, but praying through it helps ME through it.

Tonight...Biggest Loser...can't wait. And I'll get my strength exercises done while I'm watching it. :)

I know, Tina! I don't know where she gets her artistic ability! She made several hats (the kind with the earflaps and long "braids" that are so popular right now) for the kids' gift exchanges at school and one of the teachers asked if she could make a pig hat for her dd. Jenny said she was sure she could and went home to play with it. She made the cutest little hat, complete with snout AND a pair of mittens with little hooves on them. Then one of the mothers saw it and asked if she could make on that looked like a cupcake...and so it goes! She doesn't like to do the same thing twice, but loves creating new designs. I wish I could say I taught her, but I didn't.

I learned to crochet one night while babysitting. I had instructions, a tiny hook, and some string, I think. lol Dd's be practicing making a chain and getting the stitches the same size. I'll have to refresh my memory with the instruction book my mom gave me a couple years ago so I can teach it. lol

Terri-That's neat that your daughter creates clothes!

Today it's school, 1/2 day of office work for me, basketball for dd tonight, and my workout.

I know they will, especially DD#2, it seems so natural for her. :) I spent about an hour with her last night and she has almost a whole giraffe done (part of a baby's bib) minus the spots, but I'm truly impressed.

Today is a Monday and so far, so good. :) Nothing really slated other than school, piano, and working out. But I'm sure many other things will be added. They always manage to do that. Have a great day everyone!!!!

Boy, don't we wish! I think I learned how to knit when I was in Campfire Girls back in about the 4th or 5th grade. It was just a simple garter stitch and I'd play with it off and on over the years, never quite completely forgetting how but never learning anything new, either. I guess it was when I was in high school Home Ec. that I finally learned how to do a purl stitch and got a pattern to make some baby booties. Then I was off and running since I could now actually make something useful! DD#1 crochets and is so creative! She makes up her own patterns and has designed some very cute skirts for her daughters to wear.

I hope you find the time to teach them, Tambi, because they'll likely enjoy it for the rest of their lives!

I've never tried knitting anything other than pillows and scarves. My training isn't very extensive, but I enjoy it. Working on a new cross-stitch among many other sewing projects. My oldest two daughter have taken an interest in cross-stitching, so we are squeezing in lessons here and there, and my youngest daughter wants to learn to crochet. Does anyone know where to get a few extra hours added to your day? :)

A hat for Sofiabug (I'm Sofiabug*mom* ;) ). We started calling her that after her nurse in the hospital nicknamed her "Lovebug" since she was as little as one. Now she's eight and therefore MUCH bigger, but the name stuck. She's also known as The Imp of Chaos.

What are you making Sofiabug? My mom does the knitting in our family. I can do rectangles! lol

We have to take our tree down today, too. Went to church for the Sunday School hour, and it's about time to run dd's friend home. I'll probably be working in the office with dh the rest of the day. Need to get bootcamp in, but may take a break on the cardio; we'll see!

Have a great day!

Today's agenda includes workout (done!), go to craft store to pick up a custom-framed document and (hopefully) 12-inch double-pointed needles for a project I'm in the middle of and am about to lose stitches on, then *sigh* put away Yule decorations.

I finished burning all he had piled up and went to look for something else to burn--LOL--I know that sounds odd, but we have 5 acres and most of it is wooded, so there's always brush to clear out. It reduces our fire danger during the dry months if we can keep the brushy fuel to a minimum, and it's all on a hillside! Lots of walking up and down and dragging things to the fire. I haven't been able to manage this since I had my foot surgery two years ago--I just couldn't do the hillside.

I had intended to go back out today but dh and ds assembled my new steel shelving for the pantry and I got to take everything out, clean the pantry, and then put everything back on my new shelves! It took most of the afternoon, so I ended up not getting outside--now it's dark and I'll have to get dh up for his night shift pretty soon. Maybe tomorrow, if it doesn't rain~

What a wonderful and tricky husband you have there, Terri. lol I LOVE working outdoors for exercise--wish it was a possibility here! Nothing like all that fresh air either! Is there yardwork in the list? You could call it gardening if nothing else gets near it in the browse list. Sounds like you could use a hot tub now! :)

Dd had two basketball games this morning. I'll let her finish her show now, and take the TV so I can try my Zumba DVD. Then I better get some year end office work done. Have a great day!

Yesterday my dh suggested that if I wanted something to do (hmmm...that's always suspicious)I could burn the brush pile he made when he cut a tree down. Of course, he knows that I've had a hard time making myself get out the door and go for a walk, AND that clearing and burning brush is one of my favorite things to do. So I got the pile started yesterday and was out there until after dark--then I went back out today, stirred up the ashes and finished it! I put in about 6 hrs today and boy, am I sore! But it feels good to have been out moving and working. I'm not sure how to enter it into the fitness tracker, but there was a lot of bending, dragging limbs and throwing them on the fire.

I just logged all my food into the tracker and I stayed well within range on everything except sodium, and I'm sure I sweated enough today to take care of that. After several very inactive months, this feels really good! Well, except for feeling like I'm about 90 years old~

Nope--not abandoning the team! May only be in once a day, but I'm definitely exercising and working on eating right. I DO intend to lose weight each week!!

We had co-op classes today, then the kids skated/played hockey for most of an hour. Then home to pick up and bake a cake. Ds had a party tonight, so the place is full of teens. I barely got the cake frosted before they finished supper! Had to come down to the basement to get my exercises and reporting in. Off to bed now!

Oh, Tina. I thought you abandoned us. :) Sorry to hear that your computer crashed. They can really give a love/hate relationship. I hope it gets fixed soon, for your sanity.

We had about two inches of snow overnight, so we'll be out shoveling. Yeah! We're going to get as much school done as we can before noon when we leave for our homeschool bowling.

No plans for tonight...hmmm...what project can I get into? Or maybe I'll actually relax??? Nah...

Sorry to be MIA. My desktop pc crashed last night--not good because I check on there all day long! This is the office laptop so it's not available all the time. :(

Got plenty of sleep last night, but tired this evening, so took an hour's nap. Now I'm trying to do a workout video. The portable player died on me near the beginning, and this machine was prepping the disc to burn! Yikes! Gotta figure this out quick. I WANT to get my workout in! :)

We didn't get snow, but it was really cold today-5 and windy. Ran errands with the kids and they spent a bit of their Christmas cash today.

Co-op classes tomorrow AM and dh has a stress test. Hope all is well. Oldest ds is having a bunch of friends over tomorrow night, too, for a bday party. Need to bake a cake, too! Off to get done!

Today, after school, I think I'm finally go to the mall and exhange some Christmas gifts. I am NOT a shopper, but sometimes it needs done.

But I won't be going until I get my walk in.... :)

Bare with it, Terri~ It will come. I really am proud of your determination! Tell your husband, thanks for helping you. That's a great mate!

Today, we (thankfully) had just finished school and we lost our electric. I was in middle of sewing one of the gowns. It was out for over three hours. So we did puzzles and the older ones went outside and built a fire. Other than it getting pretty cold in here by then (we need new windows in this house).

Now the girls are baking Amish bread and I'm off to do the 28-day Bootcamp Challenge. Let's go!

DH is on the night shift and my days and nights are a little turned around. He and I went walking when he woke up yesterday and took a flashlight because we knew we'd need it on the way back. He's being very supportive and encouraging.

I think the tendons in my ankles are just stiff from not being used and stretched. I just take time to do some stretching if they start to burn and walk slower for a little bit. It's just respectful not to ask my poor neglected body to perform all at once--it's going to take some time to condition it.

Terri~

So sorry to hear that your hips are bothering you, however, I'm SO proud that you are keeping with it. You go, girl!

Today I got to walk with my girls. Loved it and we did two miles! The only things that was cold on me was my ears. I know this is going to sound funny, but my oldest son spent his free time today crocheting me a scarf/headband to use to keep my ears warm. God bless his heart! Now I'll be quite toasty. Can't wait for tomorrow!

Tina~I forgot to reply to your question about the gowns. I have to make one, alter two in addition to altering the actual wedding gown. Oh, what fun!

My hips have been killing me several days at a time the last few weeks! I've just kept walking through it. Weird, tho!

Well, got school started again. A good challenge. haha
Made hash out of the last of the Christmas roast. No more leftovers around here! Kids ate the last of the Chinese food yesterday and at lunch today. :)

Well, off to work in the office with dh. Hopefully we'll get a good couple hours in!

I know what you mean, Tambi! We visited friends this weekend and went to church where our former pastor is now serving and were completely blessed! It was SO good to reconnect with beloved friends who no longer live close and to hear the Word preached.

I walked last Thurs. and Fri. and went all the way to the top of our mountain (nearly 4 mi. round trip) but had some pain in my ankles over the weekend. Since we were out of town, I didn't walk at all--just did lots of stretches--and it feels better today. I'll walk again today and take it slowly and stop to stretch frequently. I'm starting from scratch and need to baby these flabby muscles and tight tendons!

Today we had a wonderful time at church. I so needed my fill up since I missed Wednesday service because my youngest had a fever.

The guys are watching football. I'm grilling burgers, turkey sausage and turkey cheddar brats. A wide variety for my crew.

I hoping to be able to get a little cross stitch again later. We'll see.

Enjoying my Sunday, hope you are, too!

We had a family who recently moved to the area over for the evening. Kathy helped with the cooking; we made homemade eggrolls, fried rice and sweet and sour chicken.
Then we had a good time playing cards while the kids played Wii and several games. Ate too much, but I'll be back on track starting Monday! Maybe I'll cut back a bit tomorrow to start. haha

We went to my MIL's house and celebrated her birthday. The children always have a blast at grandma's house. My oldest DD has a friend over that is visiting from out of town and they are all busy playing games now. I actually had the opportunity to sit and cross stitch this evening. I just love doing it, but I never seem to have the time. I'm working on a linen piece with the song "How Great Thou Art" on it that I picked up in Amish country.

I pulled a muscle in my thigh, so I'm taking it easy today, but was able to eat well. Even after having a little piece of birthday cake, I was in calorie range.

I'm really looking forward to this new year and sharing this experience with my fellow Sparkies!

We were planning to take decorations down today, but my hip is hurting from the trip yesterday (from my Mom's in NY) and my dh is feeling icky .. he was coughing the last 2 nights, and he's got no energy.

Hopefully, my girls and I can get it done this week.

I've been procrastinating with taking the decorations down and finally enlisted some help today. I've got an 8 yo dgd here and she's all over it! Some things are just more fun to do with a pal! So far, we've boxed up the musical carousel, the Nativity, and the village and all the little people. Fun for her, fun for me and some great one-on-one time!

Happy New Year all! emoticon

Hello! My kids put the tree up and decorated it--works for me! I just baked a few kinds of cookies this year. One at a time should keep dh happy. :)

Dh talked about having company one night, but don't think he's called anyone about it. We're supposed to have bad weather, too! It's been raining all day, which will freeze tonight and then more snow is coming.

I have wondered if you unschooled, Varina! LOL You're so busy with so many different things~

Isn't it wonderful that the girls can pick up some of the family traditions? Mine practically took over the baking and decorations during the last few years they were home. This year was the first in decades that DH and I handled most of it. I didn't do any baking, but that's okay--without kids in the house, we don't need to have that many sweets around. It was enough that my mother brought a bunch of baked goods with her. Thankfully, most of them were consumed over the weekend and are all gone now. I do miss baking, but warm-from-the-oven breads are my biggest downfall so it's best that I don't bake unless it's intended for someone else.

My DH would like to be home for New Year's Eve, too, but I'd like to go and visit some old friends. The weather is supposed to be nasty, so we'll probably stay home...still...we'll see...

Sunny, where is your dh deployed to? My dh is DE ANG now .. when we got married he was in the NY Air Reserves, then went AD .. we spent 5 years at Moody AFB in Valdosta GA.

I haven't done school in so long I feel like an unschooler!! lol

My Christmas baking was done by my youngest, she made Spritz, Oatmeal scotchies and gingerbread cookies. We have a tradition of giving neighbors plates of cookies. I've been in so much pain lately I wasn't up to baking .. so she stepped up. The girls also did most of the decorating, so it's not exactly how I would do it, but it looks nice!

I'm actually home alone for a couple days, my girls went with my dh to his place at Andrews AFB .. supposedly to give me a break, but I've cleaned 2 bathrooms, washed the linens on our bed, vacuumed my room and part of the hallway, taken the dogs out 3x so far today ... and I'm not really feeling like I'm getting a break! lol

So not ready for this weekend .. and we are going to my Mom's on Wed to have Christmas with Grandma, Aunts, Uncles and Cousins (for the kids) .... back home on Fri .. because my dh wants to be home for the New Year for a change. ugh ...

Well, I have to say that it was much easier when I was homeschooling my kids because I could decide when, and for how long we took Christmas break. Now that I'm the student, it's really cramped my Christmas style! I've had classes and/or homework until last week and now I don't have enough time to make the Christmas pjs for the grandkids like I usually do.

Oh well, I'm not stressing about it. I have the fabric and will use it later. It just wasn't worth locking myself in the sewing room round the clock to get them done. Besides, as much as I love Christmas, I have to admit that I've enjoyed it much more this year without all the program practices, choir practices, school program/school party things that always suck time out of my days.

DH and I declined singing in a choir this year. We only have passable voices anyway and don't even attend the church that invited us to sing with them. I have grandchildren in two schools and attended both of their Christmas programs, but didn't have to bake or make costumes or rehearse with the children...I know, I sound like Ebenezer Scrooge, but when it comes to Christmas, I've learned that there really CAN be too much of a good thing~
