I have so much to do, I'm not sure where to start. I was on crutches for about 2 weeks, so I haven't been able to do much of anything. I guess I'll start on the kitchen since that's what the neighbors see when they come to the door.

@LECATES lists really help me out too. Although, sometimes I spend so much time making the list that I don't get anything done. Lol.

Next Goal: To get below to 350 pounds. However, below 352 would be a 40 pound weight loss.

Finally got the bathroom floor done. We went to Sam's Club yesterday. They have moved a lot of stuff around. I hate when stores do that.

I think I hate dusting, because it was my main chore when I was little.

Mask making will fill the day.

Tina, that makes sense and medical bills can put a dent in finances. Glad she has you to help her out and that you have a plan. I think easier to let go in stages which is kind of what she has done---but a lot of work for you. Good luck with selling your stuff. I was looking at some of the tops in my closet and thinking there are some that I might as well get rid of. I have been trying to wear my nicer stuff instead of just casual ts with being home---makes me feel better---but there are tops I haven't even thought about wearing so I might as well get rid of them.
I got all the kitchen counters cleaned and decluttered yesterday and I even cooked dinner as it was cooler in the kitchen yesterday due to the storms that came thru yesterday. More expected today, too. Today I really do need to tackle the bathroom floor, do some laundry, and dust. How many of you hate to dust? I know I do!

Tina, how do you ship your items on Mercari? Don't ever do Free Cycle if you're afraid of people coming to your house. I have only met one person in a neutral area (mall parking lot). The rest of the time pick up is outside a person's house. Never had any trouble. I was outside once, gardening, when a woman came to get her stuff. I started to greet her and she scuttled away like I was a leper.

Lots and lots of bedding got washed today. The rest of the day will be given over to sewing.

Pat - lucky break on your shopping trip! I hope you find some winners when you are able to try them on.

Cathy - when my MIL moved to NC, she was downsizing from a 3 bedroom, 2300 sq ft home into her current apartment. It was hard to imagine downsizing that much and it was pretty much one of the only ones they showed us and being on a tight schedule didn't help. When they went through the financials with her it seemed do-able if she was very conscience of what she spent. After some major medical things, like her broken hip, it just isn't feasible to stay there. She'll save about $500/month with the switch. We are going to try to move as much as we can, and then Habitat for Humanity will come and take any leftover furniture that doesn't fit. We also have a few trips to Goodwill on the plan. When she first came down to look for a place, we tried just apartments but nothing would work with her limitations (no stairs, walk in shower...). The realtor showed us this place and she fell in love right away.

Today on my schedule is to sort some things in my closet to sell. I'll use the app Mercari to post some things. There is also Facebook marketplace and an app called letgo that are more local, but I'm not keen on having someone come to my house or meeting somewhere neutral. Better get to it!

Tina, may I ask why she moved into a 2 bedroom unit in the first place? Hope it hasn't been too hard getting her to give up things and that the move goes smoothly. Those places are expensive but it sounds like a good place for her. Having friends around makes life so much better. Glad to hear that you didn't get much from that storm.
Pat, boy, you did that by the skin of your teeth. Glad they will hold them for you even though you 'returned' them. Yes to a tax free weekend.
I worked a bit more in the kitchen yesterday---nice to have 2 counters nice and clean and organized--just one more to go in there but that one won't really be clear until Fall---that is where a fan sits to help keep it cooler in the kitchen. I also worked on the bathroom a bit. At least I am accomplishing things on my list. Dh also worked on the branches outside, cutting up the bigger ones so they can be put in our trash container---might take 3 weeks to get rid of them with our trash but they are out of the way.

Can't say much got done except photographing my mom's jewelry.

After dinner I realized I had $225 worth of clothes that I hadn't tried on for DH to opine on, but they were all 3-day returns from Dillard's and they close at 7. I didn't change, didn't put on makeup, didn't find my purse (so no license), and rushed out to husband's car with clothes (no receipt) in hand and drove to the mall. All the doors except one had been locked, and I couldn't find a salesperson. I ended up just yelling, "Is there a salesperson here?" Got an answer, but she had closed all the other registers, so I backtracked to where I started to return everything. Having worked there, I knew I only needed those yellow POP labels to bring things back. The gal said she would put the stuff on hold and I could come back tomorrow with DH in tow and I could try them all on in the store. The one good thing about this is that this weekend is no sales tax weekend. I will save that 6.75%.

Oh my gosh! I was just catching up on email and got to this one and see that you were asking about me. So sweet!

We did not get hit by the storm, except for some rain. It hit just east of us, but we're good. The dog didn't even wake up from the storm, so it must have not been too bad.

I've been busy with helping my MIL, she is downsizing into a one bedroom apartment from her 2 bedroom, still at the same retirement community. Her rent is really high, so she's moving to get a break on that. They do have a lot of amenities and she has many friends, so she didn't want to leave. We are helping her move the weekend of Aug 22-23. We can only move until 1 pm since they don't have maintenance after that on the weekends. They need someone to go behind us and sanitize everything.

Today is errand day and I'm going to spend some time catching up on emails and cleaning my desk and credenza.

I hope you all have a fabulous day!

WE have branches and leaves to clean up from the storm but nothing major.
I did get the microwave cleaned and one and a half counters cleaned in the kitchen. Spent most of the morning watching the news of the storms and taking a nap after being up at 4 AM.
Hope Tina is alright---not sure if she got hit by that storm.

It has been raining on and off for two days here, but no storms. Good, soaking rain for which I'm happy. So is the lawn. There is such a sweet fragrance in the air. The windows have been open all day.

Cleaning ladies came today so I am thankful for mopped and vacuumed floors. The cupboards and counters in the kitchen have been wiped down, and the bathrooms are clean. I did all the laundry today and have only a couple things for DH that require ironing tomorrow.

Good use of your time.
I got my laundry done and put away, sheets folded and put away, and dusted and picked up the bedroom yesterday.
In the afternoon, we went outside and put up lose items and moved stuff to safer locations for this storm. Hoping not to lose power today---want to work on the kitchen counters today.

I knew I'd be watching the live stream church yesterday, so I pulled out the drawer that holds my Christmas cards. It is far too much of a waste of space, so I took other greeting cards and extra envelopes and made a more productive use of the drawer. Worked on its organization long after church was over, but I think it will work better. Now I have a couple fancy boxes that I can use for something else. Who knows where is anyone's guess.

Just couldn't stand the mother-clutter. The silver is still on the smaller oval dining table, the collectibles and glass are on the 80" table and sideboard. What was really bugging me was the Stuart stemware on the coffee table, so I packed it away. Anything on the TV credenza went into the dining room. I had different paper piles, and collected them into one and what I could readily put in the right place, I did. I took the artwork off the dining table chairs and pushed the table against the far wall just to be able to walk through the room easily. If I can't get a company to take care of this for me, I'll sell it piece by piece myself.

I tackled pulling grass starts and other sprouts from between the bricks on the path going back to the rear patio. I started lifting up the bricks, only to find the arbor vitae had pushed its roots into mats between the tamped soil/sand and the bricks. What a mess. I replaced the bricks, but that really needs to be reset altogether. DH is willing to put it on the back burner. We have too many irons in the fire right now.

I'll make those masks and alter the dress today, as I didn't get to it yesterday.

Wow, you were in a cleaning mode yesterday. Woohoo on finally using those handles you had saved. That glue should hold---I have seen it used for outdoor things and if it will hold up out there in heat and cold, it should do well in the bathroom.
It was so much cooler yesterday due to rain and overcast skies that I finally got some weeds pulled up front---filled 3 bags of weeds before my knees said they had enough.
Since it is the First of the month, today I tackle my bedroom and put fresh sheets on and wash bedding---might as well do some straightening up in there while doing that---but luckily that room is in pretty good shape.

Sorry about your headache. Hope you had something to take for it.

This morning I dived right into cleaning up every room. Beds made, clothes put away, sinks cleaned, dishwasher emptied and filled, ironing done, counters cleared. What I could do to give me clear sight lines, I did. I even installed the lone drawer pull in the bathroom. The hardware in the kitchen and bath were the same, so when we took out the original kitchen cabinets, I saved the handles to use on the new vanity in the bathroom. I kept one extra to put on the panel in front of the sink. It has been sitting in a drawer for ages. This morning I checked to see if I could get the screws between the sink and the panel and I thought I could. Not so. Once I'd drilled the carefully measured holes, I found I was through the extra piece of wood that holds the panel on. I gave up and glued the handle on and it will dry overnight with painter's tape keeping it in place. Hopefully, the glue I used (like E6000) will hold it on. I've always wanted the handle there to make it look like a drawer under the sink. I do the same thing in the kitchen, albeit there is one of those narrow sponge holders there.

I will work on the wedding dress and the making of the guys' black masks later.

I have an abundance of cherry tomatoes--all green. Protected them with wire this morning. I can only hope I did a good job, since those chipmunks are master climbers.

When I brought in the trash can, I noticed some yard waste in the very bottom, so I washed the can inside and out. There was a red plastic cup across the street and the recycle bins weren't emptied yet and it had been there all week, so I picked it up, then came back by the corner flower bed and saw some weeds. Pulled those and a few others.

Have to pick up Mom's supplies today as son's BJ's card expires tomorrow, and need to stop at the pharmacy.

Been outside taking care of the veggies---picked 2 squash, 2 cucumbers and 3 grape tomatoes. We need to go get bread and milk and I think I will get some salad fixings and add in our fresh veggies. I think today I will start making a list of things to do and pick something each day to give me some kind of goal.

I had a down day yesterday. If I hadn't made an appt. to get my library materials, I probably wouldn't have gone out. I did get some groceries and a birthday card as well.

This morning DH is helping a widower with his finances. He was here when he called Social Security to arrange for death benefits.

Emptied the dishwasher, made bed, on third load of laundry. Have to buy steaks for birthday BBQ tonight, as well as an ice cream cake and corn on the cob.

That sounds like a daunting project. Good luck with that---but make note of where you store each item so that if it sells, you don't have to search thru every box.
Heat index of 110---been outside to water the veggies already---don't plan on doing much else today---didn't sleep well so it's going to be one of those days.

Unfortunately, what was once thought as collectible is no longer vaued by the newer generations. I don't think Longanberger baskets are even wanted anymore and boy, did people pay a pretty price for them----I never did think much of them---too overpriced for me. Good luck in selling your items.

Pat - when my MIL downsized in OH, she had an estate sale company come through and hold a sale for her stuff that she wasn't moving to NC. She had a lot of collectibles like Hummels and other things - no one wants that stuff anymore. We looked into ebay, but there was no real market for it there - a lot for sale but very few sales. You could look into the app Mercari - it's an app that you just take some photos and post things for sale. They email you a shipping label and you just mail it away. I just got the app and so far have purchased one thing and it went pretty smoothly. It should come in today's mail. I am going to research how to post things a little more this weekend and then I have a few things to start posting. I have a lot, actually, but I'll start with 3-5 items. Good luck! I do hope you get a good offer.

Today is meal planning and grocery shopping. Cleaned out the fridge yesterday and we are going through the freezer for most of our meals next week.

I did very little yesterday after the EGD test. I am looking at three tables and kitchen counters full of my mom's stuff, which I may leave until a couple more companies come to look at the "loot" and give me an estimate on what they will pay for it. If I can't get a good price, I'll learn how to sell on eBay or FB or somewhere. Now is a horrible time to sell though. As I was told Thursday, young people don't want their parents stuff, or the people who collect have enough and are holding fast. That person worked for a company that only deals in very high end items. Most of Mom's stuff didn't hit that mark. She had Stuart crystal, but that isn't Baccarat, which is all they want. One of their wine glasses retails at $190. Good gracious!

I did the kitchen floor as well. I also cleaned the dinette, scrubbed the bathroom, vacuumed the house, did a load of dishes, & 3 loads of laundry. It's a busy day. I need to be working on my résumé, but it's easier to do that in a clean house. Now I'm relaxing with to-do lists running through my head.

Still not sure what to get into today---maybe cleaning the kitchen floor before it gets too warm in there.
Barb, good idea to cancel the cleaners. Good luck with the appraiser.
Tina, I would like some rain here but not the hail.

Pat - that was probably a good call on cancelling the cleaners for this week. You have a lot going on and since they are coming and going in so many places, it's a good idea to stay safe. I hope you have good news from the appraiser.

Yesterday was running around to a couple dr appointments and making some phone calls. Today is much quieter. Just hanging out at home, doing laundry, and trying to get a handle on my email inbox.

We had a really strong thunderstorm with hail come through yesterday afternoon and it's looking like another is rolling in. The poor dog gets so freaked out when she senses the storm coming. If it rains all day with no thunder she's fine. Get a storm coming and it's a totally different story. These high temps are really getting to us too, so we actually enjoy it when it rains and cools it down a bit..

I cancelled the cleaners. Three out of four rooms are out of commission during this remodel downstairs. I can clean the bathroom, and because there is a crack in the shower floor, DH doesn't use that, so it's a quick clean. I also figured that it would be better not to have the cleaning people here since they're in so many people's homes and I have to have a Covid test Wednesday before they will let me walk into the facility where I will have the EGD Friday.

The appraiser for my mom's stuff will be here Thursday afternoon, so I will be finding places to set everything out. I thought I'd put anything on the counters away and display any serving ware in the kitchen. No sense not using the new granite and cupboards to my advantage.

Oh, that is sad to lose that ceiling. What a mess has been made with all that is being done.

I certainly didn't get through all the magazines in my drawer, but I made a start. I was lazy last evening after vacuuming out my car, wiping the areas at the bottom of car doors and trunk, and cleaning the shop vac thoroughly. I didn't feel like emptying the dishwasher, so I awoke to dirty dinner dishes. I cleaned out the drawer under the oven and started a load of towels. Tomorrow the cleaning ladies are coming and I have to have them do something other than clean the downstairs since all the office furniture is crowded into the family room. Now I hear the ceiling is coming down because there is mold in it. So sad to lose that beautiful wood. After the cleaners leave, I will extend the two tables and start displaying all my mother's things again for an appraiser who will come sometime this week.

Tina, that sounds like an interesting magazine and a good one to keep so you can plan trips around when you have visitors---when we don't have this stupid virus hanging over our heads. You must have a lot of stuff that is a one time use---why don't they make smaller bottles of some of those fancy oils, etc.
Barb, at least you had someone to pass them on to and not have to get rid of them yourself. I have cut way back on the number but will try a new magazine if I get a really great offer. Right now I just subscribed to Garden Gate for gardening and I will say I do like it. I did drop my HGTV magazine---not as good as it was or maybe nothing new ---I don't like some of the modern ideas too much---like no way would I put wall paper on my walls again! At least you did 2 drawers.
I did open up the closet, took a look at the magazines--and said "Nope, not in the mood to go thru them today" and closed the doors. I am back in hibernation mode with this nasty heat wave going on here.

If only DH liked to cook! He brings things home that catch his eye. When I ask if he wants that for dinner, he will decline: he's not in the mood for that today. I have to say, "We're having such and such for dinner tonight," so he knows to expect it. If it goes into the freezer, who knows when it will come out again. This is why I keep a freezer list: so I can remember what needs to be used.

No sewing yesterday. I heard "magazines" and got out some old ones I knew were in the bottom drawer and was again immersed in reading. I did get two places in the kitchen cleaned. The drawer with storage bags, foil and wraps was a jumble. Goodness, I have a lot of gallon-sized storage bags! Then I cleaned the spice cupboard: three shelves of herbs and spices on lazy susans. I discovered I had some essential oils and simmering potpourri stashed in a large apothecary jar in the back corner of the top shelf. That stuff will go with the wax melts and scented candles in another closet.

I have a few magazine subscriptions, but most of them came from school fundraisers. There's one we get that we love called "Our State" and it's everything NC. We have found many places to visit and learned about different areas and attractions there are here, and they focus on a particular topic each month. This month's is cheese and all the local farms. There have been ones for Top Sail Island, camping, Pilot Mountain...very interesting stuff and we read it cover to cover. That is the only one I save. The rest I'm pretty good about recycling each month.

Today my plan was to grocery shop, so I cleaned out the fridge. We didn't make it this morning (had to help MIL) and I don't like going in the afternoon. Hubby went and picked up a few things. He's the same way - shopping for a couple things and then coming home with a bunch of one time use items. Do we really need roasted sesame oil?? He likes to cook and experiment so if he sees a recipe, it's off to the store for ingredients. Our budget needs an overhaul.

I have a friend who buys more magazines than I can imagine, and a couple months ago, she decided to share her overflow with me. Oh my. At least I had an impetus to get through them fairly quickly, because I was instructed to pass them on to a certain person. I have too much to read on my Kindle without getting subscriptions.

Sewing today.

Pat , when I am working, that seems to be where Dh has to go almost every day and who knows what I will come home to. We had to have a little talk about him killing my budget that way---so now we write down how much we spend at the grocery store so he can see how much he has left. Right now we have to be careful for the rest of this month because he went a couple of times without me and bought stuff that could have waited until we really needed it.
I need to decide whether to keep some magazines or go thru and pull out anything I really want to keep and then take the rest to the recycling center. That should take me a while but I really need to be in the mood to tackle this project---maybe a few a day would work best.

What a lot of food you have stockpiled, Ann! I don't know that I could find enough room in my house for all that. I try to use up what I have in the pantry and freezer, but DH keeps impulse buying and what I plan for doesn't happen. I do wish he'd stay out of the grocery store. At least, at the moment, my pantry and freezer are organized.

Besides picking up some items at the store, I plan to continue reading today.

Anne, you do have quite a stockpile in your pantry. Good idea to use up what you have. Thankfully the only things we keep down in our basement are the extra canned goods and Dh keeps a good inventory down there. Luckily everything else fits upstairs---when my veggies get low, I send him down to get the extra---LOL
Tina, yes, teen boys will eat you out of house and home---LOL I had 3 sons so I know--and boy, did I know when one of them was on a growth spurt by how much food we went thru. Good idea to stay on top of it.
Maranatha, how nice to put up new curtains and a new bedspread. That just makes you want to keep that room looking nice.
I did work on the spare room closet---reorganized the drawer with the flags in it and put away some things in the wrapping paper drawer that had been left out. There is probably some stuff in there I could toss but I didn't feel like messing with other stuff yesterday. Maybe today.

Hi Guys. I worked so hard yesterday that I haven't done anything today. Yesterday, I did a load of dishes and did the nooks & cranny dusting, washed windows, put up new curtains and bedspread, vacuumed, etc. It took about 4 hours and I am pooped. It feels so good to get stuff done though.

Wow Ann! What an accomplishment! I find that I use my pantry more when I inventory it - thanks for the inspiration!

No s'mores yet. It was late by the time they finished the fire pit area. Took DS16 to the store for snacks and things for his friends coming over - totally forgot the s'more items! Lots of stuff for grilling sliders, hot dogs and air frying chicken wings. 5 teenage boys sure can eat a lot! 84* at sunset doesn't seem like fire pit weather, but they'll probably go for it anyway.

Not much done around here today except laundry and grocery shopping. I'll just hang out and keep things somewhat tidy as the boys make a mess.

This was my decluttering project for the past two days - I organized and inventoried all the food in the basement pantry area. My plan is to get it down to just the cupboard and one shelving unit. I didn't go to a grocery store at all in June, and I'm going to shoot for that again in August. Today I'm typing it all into Word so I have a searchable doc. Handy for using up the oldest stuff first, and for not buying duplicates of what I already have. I've been doing that with the freezers for the past few months and it's been very helpful.

I really hate when workmen do that. They never seem to realize we work hard to have nice spaces outdoors. Hope the rain makes it alright.
Tina , did you enjoy the fire pit and the s'mores.
Cleared off another spot in the spare room and emptied the trash can in there. I think today I need to tackle the closet area.

Tina, enjoy that fire pit. Marshmallows have no fat! emoticon A lot of sugar, but no fat.

I picked up last night before bed. The dishwasher needed to be emptied. A couple of items were ironed. The last of the laundry was folded and put away. I'm glad I cleaned up, because the electricians were here at 7:30! Just now a guy is picking up the laminate from the office floor and hauling it away. Yeah! It was piled on the grass and I'm sure it's done a number on it. Thankfully, we should have some rain this afternoon. That will help.

I have no idea what to tackle today. Maybe a section of the crawl space? Since it's cloudy, I won't feel deprived of a sunny day.

Pat - enjoy your book!

Not much going on here. Hubby and DS16 put in the pavers for the fire pit tonight and kiddo is having friends over tomorrow, so I'll be heading to the grocery store for s'more fixin's.

I got the cabinet reorganized and the top cleared off in the spare room. I also dropped off 7 more bags of donation yesterday.
