I have only been smoke free for 15 days. The first week I took my granddaughter out to play when the craving hit me. About the eigth day I almost went to the store the craving was so bad. But instead I had extra coffee and played baseball with the neighborhood kids. I guess you just need to find what works for you. Crossword puzzles work great. I got a new phone so playing around with it is lots of fun keeps my mind and hands busy.

Its about progress, not perfection.

Do not wait for your ship to come in...swim out to it!

Ultimate goal to lose 100 pounds the same way I gained it. Oned pound at a time.

The information out there (cyberspace) is to rid yourself of the toxins of cigarettes/nicotine. It is suggested to drink plenty of fruit juices especially in your first week of quitting. There is something about nicotine that changes the metabolism of sugar. When you quit, you will need something to bring up your blood sugar and regular food takes up to 20 minutes to hit your system (i.e. bring up your blood sugar). This condition is supposed to balance out after 1 wk to 10 days. So in the mean time it is suggested you consume fruit juices high in acids like cranberry or orange juice. Other recommendations are to stock up on gum and fresh cut veggies to help with the munchies.

For me, increasing my exercise and keeping water by me at all times worked. Every time I felt like lighting up, I took a big swig of cold water. It worked and the moment passed. Remember, it gets easier every day you stay quit. If you start again, you will just have to go through all this again.

Persevere. Even if you fall on your face, you have moved forward.

PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION.

Working out and cardio works so good and really helps with the cravings plus you get super fit! Snack on healthy snacks. Tons of veggies, fruits and water! Hot bubble baths help too :)

You have to figure out a plan that works best for you & then stick to it! If you're bored then you need to find things to keep you busy, esp. over the next couple of months. Walk, clean house, exercise, read, anything. You'll probably experience a small weight gain but that's why it's crucial that you figure out a plan so you won't be running to the kitchen every time you want to light up. Good Luck!!! Don't give up -- this is the best present you could ever give to yourself! Push thru it & you'll be happy you did! :)

I have only quit on Tuesday this week. today will be my third day. and I have already gained 2 lbs back. I'm so used to going out on the porch to light up, but now that I don't do that, I go to the fridge instead. most times I just open it, and take nothing. But I can't break this "boredom" and I end up eating something bad. How can I get past this???? I can't gain anymore weight back or else I will give up!
