In the throes of parenting two toddlers with a periodic 6-year-old. Only TWO MORE WEEKS TO GO!!! Anne and Tyler are doing really well in their taxidermy class. They Skype daily to talk and see the kidlets and send pix of their accomplishments. I'm ready to be done. It's exhausting, especially with the added arthritis that showed up after the last parenting jag two years ago! Ah well. Love me them grandkids!

No matter what we know you'll be a winner in your next race, Barb - inspiring for sure!
Yes, July flew by! A few more months to take advantage of nicer weather! I'm north for a few days and today is dreary and I'm not feeling very good so laying low up here. I planned sister time here for a few days so hope I feel better soon.
I hope everyone is well and enjoying their summer๐ŸŒป (How's your sunflowers Sunny?)
See you all on the August thread! I need to get back to sparking

Look at that, we're saying good-bye to July... last day! The final week of July wasn't as beastly hot as earlier in the month... it was "seasonal".

The triathlon last Sunday was great... it was warm, even the water was warm, and being wet coming out of the water and onto the bike felt great. I passed a guy with an Army logo on his shorts & singlet on the run, Army mom, running Army Strong, and finished well for me. Of the 12 people I finished ahead of, all but one were younger than I am. The other was my silver medalist! She and I were the oldest females out on course. I was happy with how I did, and how I felt.

Two weeks left now to my big race, the age group nationals... in this one I have no illusions. There won't be just me, or me and one or two others in the age group... there are 84 potentials in the participant list... and my plan is to do a little better than last year. I know I'm better conditioned. The next two weeks will be about getting me fully rested and recovered from my training... wish me luck.

Check in everybody... how are you doing, this last day of July? emoticon

It has indeed been HOT out here, which has caused me to dial back SOME days, but mostly to put the workouts EARLY on weekend mornings. I will be passing out water to participants in the Cornhusker State Games walk on Saturday morning... which I hope doesn't wear me out because the triathlon for the State Games is Sunday morning. Still, it's time to be giving back to the events that have given me so much joy.

Sounds like you've had your hands full with real life, Connie. I think you're right about Sunny being on the road. Nellie, if you get the chance to check in, hope your doctoring is going well!

BUSY, BUSY so far and it's only the THIRD! Well, 4th of July weekend is always busy in the hood. It's sorta scary to say, but everyone is home and everyone is getting along and life is good. (that's always when the "other shoe" drops)
Girls are both home, with their kids, for the weekend. We had a really pleasant, family-only night Friday night. Yesterday we were joined by, of all people, sister-in-law's brother's family. We all adore Uncle Mike and his family. He's been a favorite of the girls' forever. They're in town from AZ and came over for dinner. The weather was absolutely perfect and we ate, drank, talked, played on the deck and in the backyard all afternoon! Today is pretty much a resting day to get ready for tomorrow!
It's an annual, neighborhood celebration! Breakfast starts at 0900. Parade, yep our own "little" parade, is 1100. Then we retire to the joint front yards for yard games, bounce house, drinks and chat. Around dusk, once the city has started their fireworks, we start ours (as the big boomers are "illegal" in our fine state). It's a grand day and this year looks like the weather is going to cooperate too.
Have a safe and happy 4th Y'ALL!!!

This month I have lots of doctor appointments, plus my oldest daughter is getting married. I am lucky in that my oldest son will be driving me to the wedding since I don't really know where the place is that she is getting married.

Look at that... did we ever even START a June chit-chat? And here it is USA's birthday weekend! Happy Birthday to our own Sunny, as well!

I've been kind of busy, and I'll bet a few of you have been, too. In my case, it's all about the training for my "events"... here's the lake from this morning. Yes, I'm still jumping in lakes (and swimming off)... about a mile and a quarter this morning, the longest I'll go before my August 13th Oly distance triathlon outing. I'm getting really pumped for this race... last year I did it and was intimidated... this year I know I can do it, and feel excited, thinking ahead to all the great athletes I'll be among. And in fact, have found more training partners for the time leading up to it. But real life stuff *does* get in the way of Sparking, and as we all know, "real life trumps".

How's everybody else's life going?
