How wonderful, Barb. Do keep us posted on how your brother does and yes, it is very inspiring to hear the dancer will be running this year.

I just know you are going to get caught up on all the excitement of the weekend and for that, I am a tad jealous.

Have fun and know we will be thinking about you.

Huggers, Sunny

That's a great feeling, when you start to feel energetic again, Sunny! I will be doing a training run while in Boston, but it's my brother MOBYCARP who will be running the Boston Marathon. I plan on taking advantage of the proximity of the hotel to the Charles River Esplanade, and running there for my "long and slow" last before the Lincoln HM on May 1st. It's about time for me to start tapering, but because I've been ill, I feel as though I've already been tapering!

I've been to Boston before but never on Marathon weekend, and certainly never had such a personal stake in the race... I think the runners of the world took the bombings in 2013 very personally... I know I did, and I tear up reading some of the coverage about the dancer who lost her leg running it this year. Boston Strong! emoticon

Oh wow! Do enjoy your vacation. Going to a run?

Feeling much better since I have been off of the pain medication. Ugh...

I biked 30 minutes today and feel great. It didn't totally wipe me out so my stamina must be improving. Yea!

Have a good vacation...

Hugs, Sunny

Yes, much better today, and worked the full day. Of course now the panic sets in because I have only tomorrow before vacation and things tend to pile up, don't they?

But health-wise, definitely on the mend!

Hope this Monday Morning found you feeling better, Barb.

Good start to my day after a "draining" weekend. I finally figured out it might be the pain medication that has me drained so off of it for now and taking only Ibuprofen. Feeling much stronger and even biked 30 minutes this morning. Here I am moving forward again!

Take care team and do have a Marvelous Monday.

Being apart from family is one of the hardest bits about military service, isn't it, Nellie? Wishing resilience to your son & his wife!

As for the report from this morning's appointment: yes, it's strep. So, home from work for today, anyhow.

My youngest son is doing more training. His wife is complaining that they had said she could be nearby during his training, but that is not materializing. She is feeling lonely. I don't blame her.

Isn't it the truth, Connie... so many jobs in the Navy don't even involve getting on a ship! Glad to hear Joel and his family are settling in. That's a beautiful part of the country! Last I heard from my son, he's "in process", i.e. gave his paperwork to the NE National Guard... and waiting for the next steps, which is the medical review of his prior service records, etc. But at least we know two things: grad school is a "go" for Fall, and he has a civilian "on-call" job in his field starting in May after graduation with his bachelors. So things are good on that front.

Throat is naturally somewhat better overnight last night compared to the night before, now that I've got the doc coming in early to see me this morning. It is, however, still sore, just moved to a less disturbing spot, and I'll know for sure in a few hours whether it's strep or not.

Wishing the best to the whole team, and thinking of you all!

Barb-get better soon! Sorry to hear you are down :( take care of yourself.
Happy April to everyone! Yes, Barb, Time is flying (way to fast!) it is getting more and more challenging every year keeping up both places but My husband and I plan on continuing as long as we are able...the weather is still cold and damp so probably will be another week before I head up there. Meanwhile plenty to do right here at home.
Joel and his family are pretty much settled at the navy base in The Seattle area. Joel has been out on the ship training ( he changed his career path) he's now working gas turbine systems, electrician, on a destroyer ship. It's his first time on a ship now being over 10years in the service. He says he's adapting :)
I'll check in again soon, hugs to all!
Spark on!

Noticed a couple posts in the March thread and realized... omigosh, it's April, time to start a fresh one!

Carla, so sorry for your loss. Even when we know it's coming, it can be hard. Be kind to yourself and your loved ones as you put together life going forward. emoticon

Connie do you ever feel you barely get the place buttoned up "North" before it's time to open it again? Time sure keeps speeding up here!

My older sis will be having her retirement celebration in about six weeks. A week from tomorrow I'll be on the wing to go cheer my brother on in the Boston Marathon. This year it's on the classic date, if you remember your Longfellow: The 18th of April... "one if by land, two if by sea, and I on the opposite shore shall be, ready to ride and spread the alarm".

I myself have been ill too much this year already! I finally called the doctor's office today after suffering through two pretty agonizing nights with sore throat that didn't get better. Most of the time, mine do... a transitory symptom. The nurse thinks it's probably strep. Dr. is coming in a little early and will fit me in first thing in the morning... hopefully tonight won't be as bad as the last two. I'm better during the day, when I can keep pumping fluids.

And so... probably another "early to bed" night! This is messing with my training, of course, but health first, ladies, as we all know! emoticon
