Barb is a figment of her son's imagination. Too funny! He must be very proud of you, Barb, to make bests with his friends.

Sorry to hear about the migraines. I saw the doc on Monday hoping to get off of "home bound" status but she said absolutely not as there is a regional flu bug going around. Ugh....I am so ready to be out of the house. I miss Church and I miss my friends. She said to call the office on Friday and if the bug has decreased reporting then I can possibly get out this weekend which would be wonderful.

Setting up a challenge Connie, to begin immediately. MOVE IT, MOVE IT, MOVE IT.

Stop by the thread and post your exercise and how long you Moved it! Good luck Team!

Oh, Sharon, you must not have looked at my past couple of weekends... especially the one with the migraine in center stage! Yes, Fitbit is a fun way to keep oneself getting up and moving thoughout the day!

Connie, so good to see you! I'm still hanging in there, although my training has suffered this season. I have to admit I have been ill off and on, nothing HUGE, but between colds, rebellious eating and that nasty migraine... part of me feels like I'm starting over.

And yet... first day back with the running group last night, four miles did not seem like a stretch. Guess it doesn't go away all at once any more than it builds up all at once. Son claims to have won a bar bet based on his little old lady mom running faster than his Army buddies... emoticon Told him not to get too drunk too often on that. His buddies will think he made me up.

Hi Connie, Good to see you! emoticon

Speaking of challenges, does anybody here have a Fitbit? I know Barb does, because we are fitbit friends. Anybody else? I do challenges with many different groups using the fitbit app. It's fun and motivating! My daily step count fell dramatically with my injury and subsequent surgery, and is still pretty low, so you wouldn't have any problem beating me, lol. I used to be around 10,000 steps per day, (and BTW, Barb is way, way higher than that!) But now I've only worked up to an average of around 4,000. But I'm getting there! Let me know if anybody wants to be fitbit friends -- I welcome the challenge!

Happy Tuesday everybody....time to run! (Not really run, just chase after kiddos.)

Just fyi, cuz we use links almost everyday on another team I'm on, SP "add a link" is really picking about what you add and you have to remove the http:// in order for the link to actually work. So.............................

Here's Sunny's song!!!

Hi Team!

I hope everybody is having a great week! Not to be a whiner, but now I've caught a nasty cold which is not allowing me to sleep at the moment. I'll pay for this in the morning, but for now I'm taking advantage of some extra minutes in the day and catching up on some Sparking.

Sunny, it's been quite a year for both of us, hasn't it? Hoping 2016 will end up on a higher note than 2015 did! Here's to improvement in all our ailments.

Lisa and Ryan are doing great, settling into married life. They are living in her townhouse, which was perfect for her, but adding Ryan's stuff has proved to be a challenge. She's pretty much filled all the closets and shelves, and now on top of Ryan's stuff, they have to figure out how to store/display all the lovely wedding gifts too. (Wouldn't that be a great problem to have, Ladies?) We are so anxious to get the professional wedding photos back. I'll be sure to share!

Ok, anyway, I'd better try again to get some sleep. The kiddos don't care how well rested or not I am...and I have PT tomorrow, and an interview with a prospective family looking for daycare right after closing. Going to be a long day! But I hope you all have a great day no matter how busy you plan to be! Take Care!

~Sharon

Good Morning, Team.

Just stopping by to say Hi to everyone.

I am feeling better but my knee is still not doing well. The steroid shot didn't help that much so I will see the Orthopedic Surgeon on the 8th and should know more then what we will do next.

I am working on strength training and for my cardio, I am "singing at the top of my lungs". Since I can't walk or bike, I will do what I can do. Off of here to get started on my day.

Sharon, good to hear you are finally free of your hardware. Hope to see you around a little more. How are the newlyweds? Such great photos of the wedding. It was a wonderful day all around.

Take care team and give it your best today.

Hugs, Sunny

Welcome Bev to the team. Do tell your Marine thanks for his service.

My soldier is out of the Army now but once a Military Mom, always a Military Mom.

I love this team and we are certainly glad you have joined us on your journey to fitness, health, and weight loss.

Carla, where has the time gone. It sure doesn't seem like a year. Wow!

Sharon, it is indeed good to see you back without the hardware. Yippee! How did you manage the kids with you arm in the sling?

Got my appointment with the Orthopedist in Columbia, Mo. on March 8th and ask to be put o a waiting list should something come up. I just want to feel better so will concentrate on upper body and strengthening my muscles.

Take care Team and again, Welcome Bev.

Welcome, Bev! Glad you found us - I'm Mom to a US Army Reservist - who is now "out" but who was deployed twice while in. This team got me through that! And my son (an only, btw) let me know that he's most likely going to go active once he completes Grad school... this time as an officer, 'cause once he gets the degree, that's the possibility.

For him, serving other service members seems to be his calling, he was a behavioral health specialist MOS. He's working on his Masters in Social Work, about to get his bachelors, and waiting to hear from the grad school he's applied to.

I took up taking better care of my health partly in response to knowing Sgt. Son was going to be deployed the first time... and I'm still at it... fortunately since he's home, he's been able to do a few of my running events with me, and I've made him promise to beat me at the next HM (I bested him by 4 minutes at the last one... he was running injured.) One thing our service member kids don't need is to be worrying about us while they are in harm's way.

Sharon, so good to see you, sling free and back. It's been a long road, I know, and you've been missed!

Sunny, glad you garnered that bit of hope I put out there. emoticon

Carla, I'm OK with status quo, especially when it means things haven't got WORSE with chronic health issues.

Hope Connie finds her way back to check in, and Wilma... out there, ladies?

Have a blessed Sunday, all!

- Barb

Hi everybody!

For those who don't know, I have had a shoulder injury since the end of last September that made it extremely difficult to type -- so I've been more or less MIA since then. On December 23 I had surgery to repair my rotator cuff and my ruptured deltoid. Now, 6 weeks later, I finally have my sling off. This was no ordinary sling, it was a major piece of hardware that I needed help getting in and out of, and which held my arm out at a ridiculous angle that prevented me from doing the simplest things from buckling my seatbelt in the car to putting on my own bra! So now I'm sling-free and feeling liberated! I will hopefully be much more present going forward, now that it's a little easier to type. I go to PT twice per week where they are pleased with my progress, even though there's still no independent movement of the arm and still a lot of pain. I guess it's a long process, but I'm happy to have begun.

Welcome Bev! My son is also a Marine, although he left active duty in May 2014 after 4 years serving as an Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Specialist, having served most of his time in Kaneohe Bay in Hawaii. This is a great group, I hope to see you here often!

I have a lot of catching up to do, ladies....so for now I'll just say I'm glad I'm back, and then I'll go do some back reading! Happy Sunday everybody!

~Sharon

Hello! I'm new to the team! My son is a LCpl in the United States Marine Corps. I'm from Connecticut. I have a 27 year old daughter, 21 year old son and 17 year old son. I'm looking forward to getting to know team members! I've been on SP for a little over a year now. I'm working every day to get healthy!

Oh Barb, you just made my day. I have been really down and discouraged (secondary to the pain and mobility problems) so hearing about your friend really lifted my spirits. I will be calling Columbia Orthopedic on Monday and will let you know what I find out. Who know where I may be a year from now. Thanks for that little bit of HOPE!

Carla, I do know that you deal with Rheumatoid Arthritis so very aware of how painful it can be. Doc says I have tri-compartment Osteoarthritis. Ugh....and yes, I agree that "status quo" is a good place to be.

Take care team and have a GREAT week. Sunny

Our own little corner is fairly quiet. Nothing has changed much, for good or worse. Status quo is sort of okay.

Good to see you, Sunny and Carla!

Sunny, a word or two of hope... the woman who started me on half marathons five years ago (it was a first for both of us)... is still doing them... on not one but TWO replacement knees. You can have a full life in the wake of replacement surgery... so if you decide to "go for it", hang on to that hope. In the meantime, I hope that you get to feeling better.

Would love to hear from the whole team... let's check in during Women's Heart Health month!

Thanks so much Barb!! I saw the photos on FB of the storm and yes, you did get a good workout. Our drive is about 500 ft. so we have outfitted the Kubota with a blade.

I have been a little preoccupied. Osteoarthritis in my left knee and MRI now says I am looking a knee replacement. Ugh....I am having a terrible time walking let alone doing any exercise at all. I had a steroid shot but it only helped for about 4 days so now hoping this week doc will give me a Synvsic 1 shot.

I see we have a new member. I must get over there and welcome her to the team.

It is great to see you here too Carla. How are things in your little corner of the world?

Calling all members to check in and let us know how things are going for you in 2016.

Hugs to all, Sunny
