Connie, just checking in to see how you are doing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Tonight we have Chuppers (Church Supper) and Choir practice. Boxes ready for Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child. If you would like to make a box, the Hobby Lobby Store have the boxes. It is lots of fun and you can pay the shipping on line, print out a tracking # and follow your box to it's final destination. If I were younger, I would love to volunteer to go with the delivery team. Ugh....no amount of wishing will make that happen.

Take care and have a Wonderful Wednesday.

Hi everyone! Happy Monday to you all!! We are a bit happy here, with all the last rain fall we are officially out of the drought. Now we have TOO MUCH RAIN!! Now we are dealing with floods and rivers overflowing. I am safe at my end but others aren't doing so well.

It has been hard to stick to my eating habits but I haven't gained much so I won't complain. I have been a bit bust as I have an activity at our house with the Medical residents fron my husbands group. They look forward to a relaxing time but I have plenty to do. My husband so loves these gatherings so it is worth the work. The following week will be our 5K races. Haven't done much of anything but still hope to at least walk it and do ok.

WOW what a scare at the maze. I guess that is why they call it a maze. People can get lost. Aside from that hope you all had fun.

Sunny always good to say Hi!! Hope all is well. Good job on not gaining. I think that in itself is an accomplishment. I'll join in and see if we can get that scale down.

Connie how are you? Have you been exercising much.

Barb you are so amazing. All those races. WOW!! Keep it up.. Congratulations on another one done.

Hi Nellic.

Well off to get some things done.

Take care everyone and sleep well.

Ran the Governor's Cup 15K in the sunny Sunday afternoon... it was about 200 yards longer than 15K due to a detour (bridge construction project)... but I finished it faster than last year, despite the extra distance. One thing I always enjoy at this race is the ROTC kids running the last water stop... they look SO YOUNG! But they are stepping up, and I am grateful. Youth of this caliber give hope for the future!

It's Saturday and we still have very cold wet rain in our area.

I saw two bluebirds playing in the back today. Don't they go south? I sure thought they did.

Hard to escape wearing red on Friday in Nebraska. Nevertheless, my red is also on my sox... and Boston's not even in the playoffs this year... but we *do* still have service members in harm's way... so it's Friday and red!

So glad you found Caddie. We lost our Jason at a park on Memorial Day weekend. We found him, thank goodness but it was scary. I am with Barb in that this happened pre cell phone days so was happy with the KC police and the kindness of strangers.

Today is my favorite Fall Festival, The Folk Art Festival in Hannibal. I can't wait. Woohoo!
Meeting up with Joshua and will go for Pizza before we come home.

Do have a Marvelous weekend, Team.

Great photo Carla, and sorry about the 30 minutes of "lost"... I think most of us have some story or other about the day a child was "missing"... I think if I remember the family stories right, mine (as the child in question) was at the State Fair. In the pre-cell phone days, the kindness of strangers was indeed a blessing. It still is!

Welcome home, Sunny!

Chilly here, too, Wilma. It's probably about 43F, and I shall be heading out to run with the group... last long and slow before the Good Life Halfsy, which is November 1st. The earth has also turned to the point where we need to be wearing lights at 7 a.m. Especially in venues like bike trails that are not otherwise lit up!

Hope everyone has a blessed weekend. Stay warm!

Finally home from NY. It was a wonderful trip and the weather was great. The colors are late this year so peak won't happen until next week. Oh, well, we still saw lots of colors, just missed peak.

It is cooler here for sure, Wilma. I think the high today is going to be around 60. Ugh....and I left my jacket in the Cracker Barrel in Decatur, Ill. I will call them today to see if they can mail it to me. Otherwise, JC Pennys it is for a new jacket.

Time to get back to the business of weight loss. I didn't gain any weight but certainly didn't loose any either.

Take care team and do have a Fab Friday.

Hi everyone. How are you all doing? Must be getting a little chilly in some areas now. We don't have seasons change here so its pretty warn all year round. I do miss seeing the trees changing colors in the fall. Must be quite beautiful right now.

Sonya I so understand how you feel. I too have my tow boys far away, one in California and one in Wyoming. How we do miss them right. Best of luck to your son.

Carla that corn maze sounds like fun. Have a blast.

Celebrating a new year today so off to relax and take it easy.

Take care everyone!

Judged debate all day today! Who knew it could be so exhausting listening to high-schoolers talking 90 miles a minute for 8 hours!!! Okay, well, I did.
So, grandkiddles tonight for bonfire, pizza and sleepover so we can go to Sever's Corn Maze tomorrow!

Hi everyone. How are you all doing? Hope all is well. This is a long weekend. I will be working at my house and a have no plans go out. Do you girls have any plans for the weekend? Hope so.

Had a very busy day today cleaning out the shed. It turned out pretty well but it took all day. Definitely worth all the effort. Did get 88 minutes of walking too si that was good.

Well I am off to bed as I'm very tired. Sleep well everyone, we will chat more tomorrow.

Just found out that my son's permanent duty station will be in Jacksonville, North Carolina - Camp LeJeune. Looks like I will have another child stationed on the East Coast (my son in law is a Marine also and he and my daughter live in Virginia because Ben's permanent duty station is in Washington D.C.).

Saw the news today and so many bad things going on with all the flooding in NC and SC, a barge headed to PR got lost in the strom and it is belived everyone died. Praying for all those familes who have lost there loved ones and their homes. Muct be so hard to deal with.

Today I decided to take a walk outdoors. Been a long time since I did that! I did a 2 miles walk, took it slow but managed to finish. My feet still hurt a bit but hopefully I can continue this journey.

Have a goodnight everyone and be blessed.

Sharon, so sad to hear of all your health issues this year. Yes, there is much misery in the world, but that doesn't make your own share less! So, yes, prayers and virtual hugs going your way.

Yes, I missed chatting about the BB stuff, too... but my summer was a bit on the crazy busy side, too. There were weeks when I fell asleep during the show... seriously. I even nodded off during the finale... but yes, I was very satisfied with the outcome, in the end. The twin thing worked better than it ever has in past seasons. Vanessa was a great manipulator, and Steve was SMART about when he let her go! All in all, a good season.

Yesterday I got my ten miles in... my 2015 has only three races left in it... a 15K on October 25th, the Good Life Halfsy (half marathon) on November 1st, and the Wild Turkey Chase Half Marathon on Thanksgiving morning. So far, not signed up for ANY 2016 races, but my triathlon in September should qualify me for Age Group Nationals again, but in 2016 those will be in Omaha, so it's a "sleep in your own bed" kind of thing.

Who knew, back when I first joined this group, that I would turn into the event "addict" that I am today? I shall turn into fan-girl online next weekend as the truly awesome Ironman World Championships is held in Kona, HI. Y'all probably know from years past that I tend to hover near my computer and stream live coverage of this race that lasts 17 hours for folks in the age groups... and the most inspiring is watching the very last hour, as the age groupers in their 60's, 70's, and 80's who manage to pull it off by the deadline cross and are declared, by name, to be an Ironman.

What is it in the human nature that makes one aspire to that kind of achievement? To put in the incredible hours of training? In my case, every event, I have names for whom I'm doing it. So do many others... it's because we have zero control of what happens in the world (all that misery and I might add, also a lot of joy) but this one thing, we CAN do... and we do it in their honor and in some cases in their memory.

Living our lives to honor those who have sacrificed applies to both faith and the military codes... so, whether "eventing" or just living a day in our lives, taking care of children, or just taking care of OURSELVES as best we can... let us make TODAY the best we can. And thank our Maker for one more day in which to do so!

Thinking of you all, team, and praying for you and your loved ones. Have a blessed Sunday.

- Barb

Hi Team,

I know I've been MIA for a while. Still thinking of you ladies but it's been such a crazy year of health issues for me, it's like Carla stated below....by the end of the day, I'm just SO TIRED! Quick rundown, I had a "routine" kidney stone surgery end of July, ended up with Sepsis, spent 3 days in ICU plus 2 more on the ward, and have been sick with one ailment or another ever since. Related to the septic shock? I'm starting to think so. The latest thing is a rotator cuff tear in my left shoulder, causing intense pain and immobility. My orthopedist doesn't think this paralysis from the shoulder to the elbow (I literally can't lift my arm) is from the rotator cuff tear, but that there is some issue with the nerves that needs to be resolved before the surgery to repair the tear. GAH! And 3 weeks from tonight we leave for our cruise. So anyway, I'm not typing much, because it's annoying one-handed. This is probably the longest post I've written for a long time!

Enough whining....there is so much sadness and grief in the world, I really have no right. We all have our own cross to bear, right? Wishing you all a happy October, and I'll try to be more present. I've missed you!

Carla, not much going on here over on the southside.

Barb, I missed chatting with you about all things BB! Did you like the outcome?

A big hello to everybody else as well!

Always glad to hear your status, Carla. Your family has had a larger than normal year, for sure, in terms of personal impact and drama! Lacy is lucky to have your sensible head to offer thoughts when she's ready. You've been in my prayers all along!

Sunny, we must have blinked. And October arrived here with much more crisp in the air... good sleeping weather, and I'm skipping yoga class because I'm already over-peopled and am craving that early bedtime! And suddenly, tomorrow is Friday with another weekend ahead!

The news has my belly crunched again, not as bad as years past... but as most of you can imagine, every fresh report of "mass shooting" brings memories back that are NOT comfy... I keep thinking, "here we go again"! The news from Syria isn't great, either, especially for those with children in uniform... because hot spots for one country can quickly become hotspots for our loved ones as well.

Meantime, we breathe, we pray, and we take care of ourselves! Spark a healthy October, mind and body!

Still here, still kickin'. September, school began again and it's taking everything outta me just to get through the days and I get home SO tired. Four months since we lost Shawn. We're okay, good days, bad days, but mostly good. Don't cry every day, but bawl when it hits me. Kolten started kindergarten and loves it, except, "they're NOT teaching me to read, Grammy!!!" hahaha...... Give it time, boy. Lacy's struggling. She's hit the point where people don't just come or call to see her anymore. She mentioned something and I asked her if she wanted my thoughts or just wanted me to listen and she wanted my thoughts! Go figure. So, I told her that, even though her world STOPPED on May 28th, ours didn't. Most people rally for about 2 weeks, friends maybe a month, close friends and family for 2-3 months, but by four months we've gone back to "normal". It's not that we've forgotten, but that we don't think of it every day like she does. She said that wasn't fair and I agreed, but it just is the way it is. She's not happy, doesn't understand and doesn't seem to want to. She's seeing a therapist, but ..... well, she has to want to see/look into the future before she's going to begin to get "better" and her grief is going to take a long time. I expect that. Kolten is seeing a "fun doctor" too where he can draw and talk and play with toys and he doesn't get shots! Anne, Caddie and Hunter are wonderful. Happily getting settled in the condo in Bloomington, out of my living room! Hunter is six months old yesterday!!!
So, that's it from Lakeville. (well, north Lakeville.... wouldn't want to claim what's going on down south for Sharon!)
Take care.
God Bless.
Stay safe.
