Hi everyone! How is everyone doing? Hope all is well.

This month is almost over and October is already here. How time flies. I am finally feeling better from my cold. Knocked me down pretty good this time. Started out strong this month but didn't so well at the end. Hope to do better next month.

Sleep well everyone.

Thanks, Barb. DH and I have had quiet the year and we are both looking forward to this trip.

He is getting stronger every day and even has been shooting his bow. The same with me only biking and walking. God is good!

I have had high cholesterol for a while now. However, one time it took a precipitous drop and my doctor at the time asked what I was doing that made such a difference. I told her that I starting eating Biblically kosher. No pork or shellfish and no fatty cuts of meat.

Hey, team...

I hear you about the cholesterol levels, Connie, it's one of my challenges, too. Heredity is heredity! But my activity keeps the ratios good, or at least it has the past few years.

recovery day from the "races" today. I took it off work, knowing I'd probably be stiff... but I was not just stiff but headachy and sinus puffy. Took a Zyrtek clone and napped a good deal. But my "three races in eight days" were survived. Tomorrow, back to work, rested and ready!

Yesterday's triathlon I felt strong, emotionally, having names in my head of those who had lost their lives to suicide, including a young man who served with my son. When I asked him if there were any names I should hold in thought, he popped this one out, with not quite a catch in his voice. So that was the one name I focused on the most: Glen Gildersleeve. Army Reservist. Mental Health Specialist. Lost his life by his own hand post-deployment. It's an issue for our veterans, and I definitely pray for them all.

Hope all here and your service members are doing well!

Hi everyone.
Wilma, at least you know what it was that caused your itching, good for you. I have a plant on my patio that does the same for me when I trim it. This is the time of year that I have many allergies :(
I had a real eye-opener today when I received my lab results in the mail. My cholesterol and triglycerides are through the roof! Way too high so another good reason to get going and stay motivated with my cardio and healthier eating. I guess I had too much fun this summer? I am happy to say though that today is day 7 with my cardio and logging food, I REALLY need to keep this going.
It's a new week, let's do this :) 20-30 min a day of movement?
Ready, Set, GOOOOOO!

Hi gals. Checking in a little late but here I am.

The itch is a little better. Thanks. But no its not from the bark, it is from a plant that I trimmed which is the taller one that is green and yellow. Everytime I cut them I get the same way. I even had long sleeves but ocne it starts it just keeps spreading, I was asleep by 8:30 yesterday after the Benadryl. I rested well.

started this message on Friday but it didn't post. Here goes

Hi girls. Hop everyone is doing well.

I am listening to the news in Chile of an 8.4 magnitude earthquake and they are on alerto of a tsunami. I pray they are safe.

I continue to work in my garden but have developed an allergy on my arms and legs and the itch is driving me crazy. Seems I am allergic to one of the plants. This is what I worked on today. I like how it turned out. It is worth the itch. What do you think?

Barb you are so very right, no matter how old they are they will still be our babies. It was awesome to have there names on my shirt on race day. I cherish the shirt more than any other. Best of luck on race day. I will be thinking of you!! You will do great!

Connie best of luck on your 5K also. Good for you.

Hi Sunny!!

Well I drank some Benadryl for the itch and I am feeling kind of drowsy. We'll chat more tomorrow.

That is great news about your boys, Wilma. It *is* a great feeling when our kids are being independent, and it is devastating when they have problems... and it doesn't seem to matter if those kids are 5 or 45! We are still their moms!

Hi everyone. Hope you are all doing fine. Went to the gastroenterologist to get the results of my test and thank God all is well. I didn't get any exercise today, barely made it home in time to start my tutoring sessions. I also had some lab work done just to see how I am doing. I'll know the results on Tuesday. Hope all works out ok.

I am happy to say that I have officially lost 7 POUNDS!! Oh yep somebody is really happy today. emoticon emoticon emoticon Doctor said to keep up with whatever I am doing because it is working. Planning to do just that.

Oh thanks love. Yeah, we had a very icky spring and long summer. Our SIL was killed in a horrible car accident on May 28................... 28 days after their wedding. emoticon I'm doing better everyday, but it's consuming Lacy. It's a struggle each day. Thanks for your prayers. We're survivors. We'll get through this.

I'm so sorry about your "friend". Ya know we think of those people on TV who we watch daily as our friends. We hear about their accomplishments, weddings, babies, etc. We learn of their trials and we feel really strongly for them Cancer SUCKS! I'm very involved in our Relay For Life. Hi everyone and a good afternoon to you all.

Today I was feeling kind of emotional. Been thinking all day. Was watching the news and a very important anchor woman which I watch everyday and who is a spokesperson for cancer just announced she had lung cancer. This is a small island and I have done races where she has participated so she feels like family. It was heartbreaking to see her speak. Just made me feel so grateful for all my blessing. I pray she is able to recover from this.

Carla I have not been in the team for a while so not sure what you went through but I pray each day is better for you.

I did manage to get my exercise in and did eat healthy today so hopefully I should see results soon. I will be at a doctors visit tomorrow so I hope all goes well.

Take care girls and have a lovely afternoon.

Oh Barb, I haven't worked the summer for ............. gosh, 10 years??? I do all the MA billing for our school district and I get summers off. And not summers off like our teachers, who still work half the time! I'm OFF and it's AWESOME!

It's day two and I'm back in the swing and it didn't hurt as much as I was worried about. I do feel like I need to have some kind of "Shawn memorial" something here. Something that reminds me of him now that I know the desk and office don't make me cry. Everyone was so sweet yesterday, asking how I was, how Lacy was, how the whole family was doing and lovin' up on me and telling me how much I was missed. Funny cuz, like I said, I haven't worked summers in years, but it was so welcoming. And I found out that a particular group that I work closely with have petitioned for me to work a stretch calendar and work all year round (but still only 178 days). They get a week-ish off each month because they see kids home-based. I think I might like that if it comes around. We'll see.

Take care. God Bless.

Hi Connie. Good to see you. I so understand how you feel. It took me over a year to finally get back on track and everyday is a struggle so I take it one day at a time. Each day trying to do better than the next.

Your plan sounds great. A few minutes a day and you will get started. That is the hardest part.

Sharon congratulations on your anniversary. Hope you had a great weekend.

Hope everyone has a great evening.

I am here, Wilma, Not doing the greatest as far as cardio and my eating could be a whole lot better, but I'm here.
I have to figure out a way to regain my energy! I have always been a go-getter but lately I am not very active. I have made a promise to myself to jump on the elliptical in the morning if only for 10 minutes.
How's everyone? hoping you all had a great weekend. Did you enjoy your anniversary, Sharon? emoticon Hope so.
I'll be back in the morning to do my tracking and so will check in with you all.

Hi sweet and healthy ladies. Isn't it a beautiful day! Hope you all had a great weekend.

Barb you are so right. Exercise is my medicine and I had been wanting it for a while. Its amazing how I totally transform when I am in exercise mode. Did 70 minutes today and really happy about that. I even ran about 7 minutes which is not much but a start. Want to take it slow. Didn't do to good on the eating this weekend but today I am back on track and going strong. Hopefully I should see some results on the scale soon.

Carla hope all is well. I will keep you in my prayers. We started school here a few weeks now so that has helped me get back on track. Have a great day.

Sunny I guess you still enjoying your long weekend. Take care.

Connie where are you? Hope all is well. Hope your staying active.

Well my tutoring session is about to start so chat with you all later. Have a great afternoon everyone.

That really was a long period "off work", Carla. Prayers for a smooth transition back, and in support of your family's on-going adjustment to losing Shawny.

Wilma how great that 1) you're happy, and 2) the changes are noticeable to the man in your life! It really does show when we start taking better care of ourselves, doesn't it? It helps us mentally as well as physically!

Yesterday ran with the group. Today focus on healthy eats. Tomorrow, who knows? It's a holiday (Labor Day) but somehow doesn't quite feel like it, since have no family gathering planned, and no trip to the fair. I'm doing my celebrating looking at other people's facebook pics! (Sharon!)

Have a great rest of your weekend, all... and may we all have a safe / smooth transition into Autumn! emoticon

Going to work hard to enjoy these last two days before school starts again! I'm actually looking forward to it, I think. We'll see when I have to sit at my desk. Last time I was there was right after Shawny died........ Haven't been back all summer, which is unusual. Prayers would be appreciated.

Hi Barb. Good job with the yoga. I tried a video but I just can't seem to get the hang of it. My wrist hurt to much so and it is just not motivating me.

I am feeling happy today. My husband looked at me and said that my complexion was looking much better. Looks like all of these changes are already showing.

Hope you all have an amazing weekend!!

It was yoga with the running class tonight... ahhhh! So relaxed by the end. I always have to force myself to go. And I usually feel foolish, especially being "left/right" challenged, as I am... the instructor had to come "fix" me a couple of times tonight.

That said... I'm always glad I went! Namaste! emoticon

Hi everyone! Hope your all having a great afternoon. I'm back to my tutoring since school started three weeks ago here. The children are finally getting back to the routine so flowing a litter better now.

Carla I too like when school starts even though I don't have small kids in the house anymore but it does get me back on track and on a routine.

Barb you really do have quite a few competitions. Good for you!! I'm sure you will do well. Let us know how it goes.

Hi Connie. I too gained a lot over the past year so I look forward to getting back on track. We can all do this together.

Sunny did good with the diet today. Had quinoa with black beans and vegetables. It turned out pretty good. Kind of enjoying this so far. I am getting a bit of a headache. Wonder if it has to do with this change in eating. Any idea.

Well I am so glad to be back in Spark. I find this helps to keep me on track.

I tried a vegan vanilla protein shake yesterday and it wasn't bad. I read I had to add some more plant based protein since I am not eating meat. All this is new to me so one day at a time. More than a vegetarian diet I am going for a plant based diet so its a little harder. I'll keep learning as I go.

You will do great but do understand about the 10K. It might pay you to rest that day.

Let us know before each event so we can be "cheering" for your, Barb.

Hugs, Sunny

September is a big competition month for me. I have a 5 miler, a 10K, and an Olympic triathlon... all within an 8 day range. I'm thinking of NOT doing the 10K as it is the day before the Oly tri, and I really want to do well in that particular race.

So, yeah, fitness and training is high on my list of priorities right now. Pretty much through Thanksgiving. Which as we all know, once those crickets start chirping... is right around the corner! emoticon

Schools here started last week. Ugh.

When I was growing up, we never started until after Labor Day and guess Minnesota is still doing this.

Jump right in and get back on track. Every little bit helps.

Hugs, Sunny

Still here. Gotta get back on track. This summer was SO HARD. I guess from knees and family trauma, the whole thing got to me and I gained about 10 pounds. NOT good for the knees and certainly not helpful to the attitude. But school starts again a week from today so I'm determined.

Thanks Sunny! I'm still working on what choices to make other than the fruits and vegetables. Guess pasta and quinoa are ok also along with different grains. Will probably have eggs and fish also for now. So happy my husband is up to doing this if not it would be a struggle.

I'll keep you posted.

I could be a vegetarian as I love vegetables. Tonight I fixed meatballs for Rich and for me, Chinese Eggplant with Marinara. Both are going over Whole Wheat Pasta and a side salad.

I wish you luck, Wilma. There are so many ways to fix vegetables and I lean towards grilling plus all the new grains available to us now. You will have an adventure preparing meals for sure.

Thanks for the new thread Sunny!! I am truly looking forward to an amazing month. Started my day by going shopping. Need to get some healthy food to get this month started.

My husband and I are not enjoying meat as much and I have read so much of all the benefits of a plant based diet so I am going to try this. NOW THIS FOR ME IS A CHALLENGE AS I AM NOT FOND OF VEGETABLES. Baby steps. One day at a time. I even found a protein shake that is plant based so excited to get started.

Hope you all start this month as excited as I am. Need all of your support to do this so I'll be here letting you all know how it goes

Have a great evening. emoticon
