Appealstome, your response to my post was very interesting to me. I'm going to take the high road here because I read your profile and know you've had, and have, health issues. I also know you're not a doctor and know very little about me and my health issues. Because of those reasons I am going to ignore your arrogance and wish you good health.

Sorry about the cancer. Wonderful that you are clear. Good that you coordinate lab and doctor.

Everything affects medication, absorption, levels, etc. Not allowed to take calcium, iron, fiber, vitamins, etc within 4 hours of taking medication. No taking med with caffeine. No soy, etc.

TSH measure pituitary not thyroid. Free T3 and Free T4 are thyroid tests. Every specialist I saw said TSH level needs to be 2.0 or lower to avoid cancer. People without thyroid disease have TSH below 1.0

Your TSH should be lower on NT since it contains T3 medication. I didn't do well on NT. A lot of patients that take it are complaining their levels are off too.

I've not been on this site for quite some time. I've been busy. Was diagnosed with high grade seros stage IIIB ovarian cancer in November of 2019. Completed 6 rounds of chemo and yesterday discussed results of my first CT scan post chemo. Happy and relieved to report the scan was clear.

My Endo sends me several orders at a time that allow me to go to LabCorp 2 minutes away for TSH labs. This has been very helpful during COVID19 because I've been able to eliminate coordinating labs with my endo's location that is 45 minutes away.

Asked my oncologist, PCP, and endo if chemo would affect my thyroid medication and none could say. The answer is "yes" chemo (taxol and carboplatin combo for my ovarian cancer) does affect thyroid dosage. I was on 97.5mg of NT 7 days a week and my TSH lab after first chemo was just over 9. I should also mention my thyroid was ablated many years ago. My endo had me add an additional 65mg one day a week. It has taken almost 6 months for my TSH to get down to 3.26 which is in my comfort zone.

My cancer was found by accident because there really aren't any unusual ovarian cancer symptoms.I'd had a colonoscopy a year earlier and there were no surprises. In 2019, I saw my gastroenterologist because I had a large amount of blood in the toilet and they recommended a CT scan to mostly look at diverticulitis.A cancerous tumor on my right ovary was completely unexpected.

In hindsight I can say my "symptoms" were bloating and discomfort after eating, a lot of back pain, being tired and insomnia, lack of weight loss, and a lot of acid reflux. I attributed all this to my thyroid medication or to the 6 back surgeries I've had.

Even after telling my PCP, Endo, and my neurosurgeon something wasn't right, I didn't press any of them hard enough to look past the obvious.

My point to all this is, cancer can mask itself behind symptoms that are easily attributed to other issues. If you are not satisfied with what a doctor says and your gut says something isn't right, press further or get more opinions. I'm happy with my PCP, gyn oncologist, and endo. I feel like we have meaningful dialogues. Medicine has changed and I've learned a lot about being your own advocate during this new normal.
